An excellent thin toasty pizza. I also recommend the Italian Cubano and PMT. It’s a cute location in the downtown area of Lake Alfred. They have in and outdoor seating. They also serve salads, gelato, beer, and wine. I also recommend the Greek salad. The owner is very personable and spends time with his customers.

Finally a pizza place like New England style! If you’ve ever been to Pepe’s in New Haven, CT you’d understand. We started with a Burrata salad which was fresh and portioned perfectly. The burrata was delicious. But the best part about this salad was the dressing. It was amazing! Next we had the wings. They were very good. The sauce was tasty and mild. I like an unbreaded wing and these were great. The only change I would make is I’ll ask for them well done next time as I like a crispy wing. But they were excellent. We had a pepperoni pizza. Oh. My. Gosh. It was delicious. Thin crust, crispy, and the perfect amount of char on the crust sides and bottom. The pizza wasn’t greasy and it didn’t flop when held! This pizza was as close to Pepe’s I’ve had here in Florida. To the chef… could you make me a whole belly clam pizza if I bring the clams? 🤣. It’s a white pizza with olive oil, fresh garlic, and clams! We also ordered cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake was good enough. My only suggestion is, when guests are dining in and paying $10 for a slice of cheesecake, please serve it on a plate. Instead of in the to-go container. That would have made every difference. We’ll definitely be back! I can’t wait!

After spending nearly a month in Italy and having some of the greatest pizza I ever had in the world I always wondered if I will ever find that place here where I live and I have found it here at calogero's pizzeria it was amazing and took me book to my vacation in Italy, your place is a pure gem thank you so much for giving me this experience and taking me back to Italy. If you have not tried this place then you have been missing out on the best pizza ever in this area. I review most places I eat and never write so much 🙃 about a place. But please take my advice and try this place out and if your ever been to Italy and know what pizza really taste like you won't be disappointed at all. The customer service amazing the owner and cooks amazing pure gem keep it going Calogero's and who said new Yorkers can't make pizza feel like a vacation. Gotta have them wings as well.

Definitely the best woodfired pizza I have ever had and I have had alot! Sundays they have meatballs which are amazing. Great inside restaurant and bar area serving beer/wine as well as great for takeout. The next time I go I'm trying the woodfired wings! Owner and staff are very friendly and nice as well!

To be in a town lost the middle of nowhere in deep central Florida, is haves A LOT of "Italian looks and feeling, the Pizzas are very good and again, they looks and taste like a real Napolitan pizza.

I have been a resident of Lake Alfred for 22 years. Never in my life have I had wings as good as theirs l. Calogeros is a very pretty restaurant with nice service and AMAZING food. If you're looking for a sweet date night with pizza and wings, this is where you should go. Yall are awesome Calogeros!!

We’ve been here before, and have had great experience on the past. However, not so much this time around - so much so that I felt compelled to leave a review, as it was that disappointing. We came here for a date night, and kept the order simple - salad, wings, and a pizza - no extra add-ons. We got the salad and wings right away, but 40 minutes later, and still no pizza. When we finally asked if we can take it to go as we had a movie to make it to, the cashier seemed to be confused and asked if we had already eaten our pizza. Once we told him we never got it, he offered to fire one up, but we just asked for a refund due to us needing to stick the timeline for our movie. This is the part where we became disenchanted with this place…once the manager came out, it seemed like there was some confusion with how to give a refund, and were instead offered a gift certificate for the amount of the pizza. The manager made the comment “Why didn’t you say anything? I made like 10 pizzas after you ordered!”. Well, we didn’t have an opportunity to say anything, because no one came to check on us after the waiter dropped off appetizers, and we still had a number on our table, which I thought would indicate we were still waiting on our meal. Despite a clear error on their end, the manager seemed to lack any real care or empathy, didn’t seem to make much effort to go out of his way to make things right or make us feel appreciated as customers, and if anything, he seemed like he felt like it was more our fault then theirs. He missed an opportunity to keep what used to be returning customers. We’re pretty disappointed, and we won’t be going back.

Pizza is delicious and the service is great. If you want a crispier crust ask for it well done. Hands down great spot. They just expanded and have an outside eating area also. Again great spot. UPDATE!!🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽 I just had their Italian Cubano. GOD ALL MIGHTY THIS SANDWICH HITS!!! Straight deliciousness!!! Definitely a must try. Don’t waste your money on Taco Hell when you can have Calogero.

Pepperoni Pizza was delicious. A bit pricey for a 12” pie though. Not filling.

If you want to pay $16. 00 plus $6 for sausage for a thin THIN pizza with no cheese and crust you can’t chew and tastes burnt, then this is the pizza for you. Not close to being worth what they charge. They won’t be around long. Very expensive. If I could of would of asked for a refund

Uffff pizza like this none. The exquisite flavor is a taste of explosions between the cheese and the sauce and the ingredients used. No grease, no squeaky sauce. And the excellent service 👌. The place is very clean, familiar and pleasant to sit down and chat and have a pleasant time. It's a little Italy. What do I come back from? Return.

I do not expect my hometown, New Haven pizza perfection in Florida; however, the extra crispy- thin crusted sausage and pepperoni pizza was great. They need to stick to pizza. The calzone I had was embarrassing - poorly made. 90% ricotta cheese, 10% mozzarella. I was terribly disappointed. The staff are a little too stiff and serious for the food service industry.

What a lovely, quiant little pizzeria!! We got into town a little late and from a different time zone, ao we barely made it in before closing. The pizza was perfectly cooked. The wine 🍷 was a lovely and generous pour. There weren't a lot of toppings on the pizza, but it was still a very tasty pizza. The restaurant is clean and cozy. The vibe is easy, too. The bathrooms are on the outside of the building, and it was dark... that freaked me out. There is a beautiful outside seating/eating area. I would love to try that on a nice evening. I would love to eat here again, and I highly recommend it.

My review is based on gastronomy, traveling and writing for renowned agencies, so, taste, feel, savor and see for yourself before finalizing your decision. If you do like what you read or revive your senses, please "like" my post. Owner, Charlie, with interesting history and roots, Sicilian descent, born in New York and later returned to Sicily to experience the true roots and flavor of Italian cooking. Strangely, while in Sicily, he stayed at the same hotel room where his father once lodged while waiting for embarkation of his life and journey to the US as a young man -remarkable yet ironic story. Charlie did just that, experiencing and tasting the flavors and textures, learning the preparation and the love in Italian cuisine. Charlie decided to own Acunto from Italy and painstakingly, he assembled Acunto piece by piece to make sure he brought Italian flavors and textures to Auburndale. San Manzano pomodoro (tomato) sauce imported directly from Italy is the base for all Calogero's pizza. No doubt it tastes different from US Hunts or other brand tomato sauces. The flour are imported from Italy mixed in the right portion with US flour to create the magical texture for the pizza dough. The rest are pizza ingredients from the US. The next big secret for an excellent pizza is the cooking oven. With Italian-made Acunto, the oven on a slow day runs over 600 degrees Fahrenheit, cooking every items evenly and beautifully. The position of the food items, pizza, wings, meatballs, are quintessential in the making of great dishes. The wings are kept to the side avoiding the splattering of the natural oil from the wings, the pizzas are placed towards the middle, mid-front of the oven allows quick yet evenly cooked pizzas. The meatballs combined with secret ingredients are cooked to perfection inside Acunto- moist and tender. One who looks for butter on the crust, dripping and oozing cheeses and oils from the slices of pizza or burnt or thick crusts, are not savoring Italian pizza or Italian cooking. We've ordered various pizzas, meat lovers, L'Inferno and build our own. We also ordered the wings as appetizer along with double shots of expresso, cannoli and gelato for dessert to complete our Italian savory experience here in small town Auburndale. The pizza crust is extremely thin in the center due to the weight of the ingredients and light and airy on the outside crust. Calogero's pizza was so light and airy that I ate the crust! The San Manzano sauce is lightly spread around the pizza pie, with light sprinkles of cheeses and arrangement of the pizza condiments before being pushed into the Acunto to finalize the cooking process which is rapidly done with the high temperature of Acunto. The harmonious marriage of the entire pizza pie and the ingredients inside the inferno Acunto presented patrons with the memorable Italian flavors and textures. The wings are superbly incredible on size, wings and drummettes, the incredible savory sauce and the unforgettable textures are an enigma to patrons which is hard to forget and may named Calogero's Pizzeria as the best wing place in FL. The wings are cooked on the side of Acunto, encapsulating the heat cooking the big size wings evenly and fast. These jumbo wings have slight sweetness and spiciness, yet, made without sugar but from natural ingredients. When biting into each wing, one experienced the crispiness of the skin, tender and juiciness of the wings along with the savory sauce to complete the wings experience. The cannoli tubes are direct import from Italy while the ricotta fillings are made in the US. Nevertheless, the bite into the cannoli, brings joy and memories of Sicily and Italy. Gelato are made in the US and it is still excellent. Do try the pistachios for a more genuine Italian taste. I highly recommend this restaurant for true Italian and Sicilian pizza experience and definitely, going back for the meatballs and ricotta!

Haven magazine's Tara Crutchfield proclaimed Calogero's pizza to be the "best pizza in Polk County" in their May issue. Her evaluation has my full and unwavering support. In my opinion, this pizza is the best of its kind. Pizza joints all around the county and state are no strangers to me, as they are to many of you. Without a doubt, this is the finest pizza I have ever tasted in Polk County. The wood-fired chicken wings were really succulent, by the way. The tangy sauce, the flavor of wood-fired beef, and the meat's moistness left a lasting impact. We were completely caught unawares by the enormous portion sizes. When you consider that a lot of the ingredients come straight from Italy, it makes perfect sense. Any time I'm in Polk County, I'm ordering these wings and pizza. Without a doubt, this is the sole pizzeria from which I will ever order pizza again. In the year 2024, I intend to sample every single one of their pizzas from their extensive menu. We will also make sure to try the meatballs, which are only available on Sundays! In my opinion, you're missing out if you don't go there. I completely forgot about the cannolis, too. I'll let you decide on that!

Everything we ordered here was delicious!! They have a hot honey pizza that was crazy good and we also ordered their wings and they were some of the best ever! Also a antipasto salad. Delicious! BTW they have real expresso and cappuccino. Great place! You would have to go to Italy to get any better!

For those that enjoy a freshly made, fire-oven baked pizza with fresh toppings, a crispy crust that sometimes has a great burn on it, homemade sauce and fresh mozzarella….this is the place. A true Italian flair, a family who shares their passion with the locals and it shows and tastes in the food! For every return visit, I try something new and am never disappointed! I recommend this place for a quiet and enjoyable meal, I will be back for desserts!! Forgive me for this next part but; Momma Mia this is a good pizzeria 😁!

Finally got around to trying this place, had been wanting to for a long time. Overall really enjoyed it, the hero was absolutely the pizza crust which was superb. The restaurant is very casual, you order then grab a seat. Since there is no real table service, you don't get the opportunity to ask for more dressing for your salad or parm cheese for your pizza for example. We had the ceaser salad, a Margherita pizza with pepperoni, and the Macellaio (meat lovers). For desert we sampled the tiramisu and the cannoli with the tiramisu being the better of the 2, the cannoli was a little pricey for what you get in my opinion. Would likely go back.

I've eaten alot of pizza in 62 yrs, even in Italy. Best pizza I've EVER had in my life is right here in Lake Alfred, FL. I live in MI so not sure when I will be able to get again, but seriously, if u live or pass thru this town, u must, must try it.

What a gem!! Beyond the amazing, crispy, and flavorful pizza, they also have many other Italian dishes that you should explore. They have homemade cannolis, tiramisu, and gelato to finish up the meal, both of which are down-right fantastic! Need a drink? They have Italian beers (Peroni), wine, and sodas. This is a MUST TRY! 5 stars!

It's probably the best pizza I've had since we moved south. Nice and thin, crisp yet chewy crust (yes, that's intentional and delicious), perfectly charred. Service was friendly and fast. Prices are higher than your big chain pizza, yes, but the quality BY FAR makes up for that. This is not "order for the teens" pizza, it's a nice date night out. Will absolutely be back.

Calogero's pizza is a hidden gem! If you are a fan of authentic wood fired pizzas, this is the place for you! Our kids love the pepperoni and the adults' favorite is the macelliao with added artichoke. The hot honey pizza is also a fan favorite in our house. One pizza serves about 2 maybe 3: people if they aren't terribly hungry or 1 person if they are super hungry. If you also like authentic Italian cannoli, these are worth the extra cost. The shells are imported direct from Italy and I can honestly say they are the best cannoli I've had in the US.

It was our first time trying Calogeros because we happened to just drive past it on our way home today. I don’t usually write reviews but I think this place definitely deserves one. We have been looking for an amazing pizza spot since we moved here and we finally found one. We tried the margherita, hot honey, cheese sticks and cannoli. •The sauce 10/10 fantastic light and fresh •Crust 10/10 perfectly chewy and absolutely delicious The food came out so fast 👌🏼 we’ll be back soon!
