Came here for my brother's wedding. It was beautiful. The buildings, the tent, the scenery. What a great place for a celebration. If you're considering it. Definitely do!

If heaven were a weekend retreat in Upstate New York.....

It's a very nice place. Great area, cool brewery, good eats. However, one problem. I get a bad feeling from this place. It creeps me out and makes my chest hairs tingle. I swear there's some sort of evil stranger things mumbo jumbo going on in these here woods. If there's an entrance to the black lodge in New York, it's here. But yeah overall thumbs up!

Gorgeous location for a weekend destination wedding. The food was terrific. The staff went above and beyond, especially Meghan the bartender. It was a very relaxing location. Short drive to lake. I suggest you pack bottled water, snacks and any adult beverages you want for your room as there is not a store close by at all. Bedrooms aren't the best but overall excellent venue. Loved the cappuccino machine in the main building.

My daughter and son in law were married there yesterday. A superlative experience in every way.

Amazing grounds, beautifully kept. Accommodations were very nice, and the staff made the whole weekend a great experience for guests and the couple. Food was good. There are two points that I didn't love and the first isn't their fault. You will walk a lot, and a lot of it is uphill. It's a hilltop resort in upstate New York so there isn't much to be done. But if you have a lot of older guests or women in heels, you're going to want to allow extra time for people to get from one event to another. The second item.... Folks you need to have pokers at your fire pits. The staff provides materials for fires. Wood, kindling, paper... But no poker or tongs to manage things. Come on now.

A wonderful location for a corporate or organizational retreat--spectacular setting adjacent to a huge nature preserve, lovely staff, with the charming village of Rensselaerville just down the hill.

Stunning views, great accommodations, delicious food.

Went for a wedding. It was a perfect location for the couple. Everyone had a great time. Lots of outdoor activities.

Carey Institute Wedding Success- The venue is lovely, the food is excellent quality, staff who work during the event (ie. at the meals or reception) were very accommodating and friendly. A couple of potential improvement areas... though the beds appeared to be new... they were very hard and many of us did not sleep well. Event/planning staff... there were a number of staffing changes during the overall planning process which made planning more difficult. Biggest area for concern-- extra fees were not mentioned during onsite tasting/planning session. So when we received the bill for rehearsal dinner, there were hundreds of dollars of "set up" fees we were unaware of. Proactive full disclosure of all pricing should have been communicated to us during the meeting.

I've been using the Carey Institute for Global Good for overnight retreats for the past six years. They are awesome to work with and very accommodating. The food is delicious and their meeting space and outdoor team building is a perfect fit for 40+ people. They also have a great little pub on the property. The best part is, it is a relaxing atmosphere, where a lot work get accomplished.

I was here for a training. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Food was ok. Room was very small, had a hard bed with creaky springs, and no TV.

This is a tough one to review for me. Normally when I travel for business I stay at 4 to 5 star resort hotels. Carey Institute is not that. But it has a wonderful vibe. It is a hotel and conference complex in the middle of the woods. The food was wonderful and home style in a quaint restaurant. There is a building of meeting rooms. The hotel is like a dorm, each room had a private bathroom, no TV, older furniture. But clean and comfortable. There was a main house that was like a bed and breakfast style with a wonderful library for events. I was there in the heart of the winter. It was wild walking through the snow from place to place. But heck we were all New York Staters, so it was normal for us. The staff was friendly and for a guy who likes luxury, I really had a good time. Great place for a retreat for a day or two.
