This place has the best carnitas and chicharon on the Chicago city 🏙️

The Corundas didn’t taste the way they did before. Idk they tasted old unless they have new cook and makes them Differntly. It takes me 45 minutes to get there and I was disappointed in the Corundas idk what happened they use to be good this time not Good..But the Carnitas were still Good.

The carnitas from Uruapan are nothing short of amazing! The tender, juicy pork is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, offering a melt-in-your-mouth experience. Got two lb of carnitas. Great quality and taste. The service was outstanding. I'm glad I discovered this place.

Great carnitas. Living in Highland Park, I honestly wouldn't make the hour drive to come back, but they were pretty good. Wish they used better tortillas. Idk I'm from Texas, so my standards are pretty high.

Ok. So, where do I start? We went all the way from New York to try the most delicious carnitas I’ve tried in the u.s we hesitated at first to buy because there’s not dine in, but all the staff was super kind! Specially the manager ! (We’re gonna always remember him) he explained to us all the history about the place and how they make the carnitas and this is definitely the most authentic thing! So, after being treated super well we took the food out just to realized is better than we expected ! We got some carnitas especial and nopales salad and agua de Jamaica was so good too! We would wish to have this place near by. There’s nothing even similar in New York. Excellent job !!👏🏻

Not only is this a storied business that started in 1975 by "El Güero" who sold a gold chain for seed capital, it is a business that has grown by attention to customers one conversation at a time. Although I have not dined in during peak hours on the weekend, I have been there at noon and the food quality & service have been family friendly. This place does not make the carnitas and chicharron once it the morning and keep it warm all day there is a constant fresh batch daily well into late afternoon. You are guaranteed at least a Free Taco of carnitas if your order is to go and Free order of chicharron if you check-in on Facebook. The hype is real folks. If you want the best carnitas in the city, this is the place and it won't disappoint. Not to mention the beans and horchata are also out of this world. A must stop if you are in the neighborhood.

The food is very delicious, you eat well and they serve you well, BUT IF YOU ORDER FOR TAKEOUT, CHECK YOUR ORDERS, I don't live in Chicago and I can't even return to complain, I ORDERED 1 1/2 of carnitas and 1 1/2 of chicharrón and tacos Dorados to take away, they charged me for everything but only one pound of carnitas came and I dared because I already weighed it! The chicharrón does seem to be 1 1/2 but my tacos don't come... I'm sorry for my review but it's not worth it!

Them carnitas slap. Maybe not the best I’ve had, but they are great fresh. If you get any salsa, don’t get the watery ones, those were an embarrassment to all Latin people. We have gone plenty of times and everything is usually bomb, but this last time I just presume we went too late, cuz the food just missed the mark big time. On the flip side, can’t wait to try their menudo next time 🤤

I came all the way from Connecticut to try them and I was born in Uruapan! The customer service was excellent, those ladies that helped me where great, they were so humble and friendly. I ordered tacos and a menudo. All delicious and super authentic! The amount of food they gave me was enough for 2 days and we ate it all! I wish I could've ordered more carnitas to take back home, but I will be back in the future for some more! 🤗

Easily some of the best - if not THE best - carnitas I’ve ever had. Commit to the meat and chicharron mix, served by the pound or tacos a la carte served on fantastic corn tortillas.

I bought brain quesadillas and they were very hard, you couldn't eat them, it's a shame to drive more than 3 hours to look for them.

Carnitas and condiments are so perfect. They weigh your meat for your taco. Salsa was way too salty and no place to sit. I'd definitely recommended this place. Hours are very limited too. I'll take the pink subway line for this again.

The best place to taste these delicious meats! With excellent additional options Quesadillas, brains, pork rinds, café de roca, etc.

This place was very good and authentic. I bought a couple pounds of chicharrones which came in huge slabs. If you just want to snack, it could use some seasoning, but for cooking it's perfect. The menudo was flavorful and thick and came with seasoning and sides. The staff were very busy when we arrived, but the owner was very nice and talkative. He explained everything in detail to my wife while I drooled over all the meat.

This place is a must-visit for authentic Mexican tacos. We tried the carnitas tacos and a horchata, and they were fantastic. Just remember: there’s no seating!! It’s strictly for takeout. But with Harrison Park nearby, it’s the perfect spot for a taco picnic. The owner greeted us warmly and even gave us a cajeta sweet (a very typical candy in Mexico). Highly recommended for taco lovers seeking a real deal ;)

Best carnitas of my life! Whenever you want that authentic Mexican flavor, you NEED to stop here. Chicharron, tacos de papas, nopales.......yes!!!! It's a quick in and out to go service so don't expect to eat here......however, there is a lovely park just a block away!

The workers were so nice. They kept giving us free samples. Also the carnitas were incredible. I would recommend carnitas tacos with everything.

Wow I seen this restaurant on a Netflix series and it looked so good I had to come the next day and get them and let me tell you If you LOVE CARNITAS RUNNNN and grab u some from this restaurant everything was fantastic the carnitas were so tender they melt in your mouth and extremely flavorful but not salty either it was perfect also the refried beans were exceptional they had a delicious pork flavor the best carnitas I’ve ever had this is gonna be my NEW FAVORITE PLACE FOR CARNITAS SUNDAY😭

oh man oh man oh man. this establishment knows carnitas. this place is Takeout only. you go in wait in line to order, admire the juiciness, sample a fried taco, collect yo stuff, find a sunny spot and dive right in. it is not wheelchair nor vegetarian friendly so please plan accordingly.

Some spectacular meats!!! Many from Mexico would be envious of the great flavor and seasoning they have. I don't know how they achieve this delicious flavor. They are juicy, they have meat, they are just right. THEY HAVE NO PLACE TO EAT THERE.

This take out spot was very friendly and had excellent carnitas! We got crunchy tacos, guac, tamales, and more. It's a ten out of ten.

Great carnitas! Ordered by weight. The location in Pilsen is for takeout orders only. Salsa comes with your order of carnitas (pictured) but not the tortillas. Portions are served well. We got the weekend special corundas (pictured) which came with plenty of salsa, crema and queso. Hubs had the tacos dorados and liked them. Staff was friendly and asked what type of carnitas we wanted (pure meat or pork skin/organ meat). Meter street parking. Very small inside and the door is not handicap equipped. There was a pick up window but we didn't use this service. The only downside with our order was that we didn't get napkins or forks.

carnitas uruapan restaurant has big tacos and 1 taco = 2 tacos there for 2 tacos = 4 tacos. by the that logic, 1 taco’s = 4 tacos.

Customer service will never be the same @ this local place. Spent 100 bucks an could only have 1 salsa.

Wow and excellent! All I have to say for this about this place. My first time here and you get your monies worth with quality and quantity of the carnitas here. Kinda crowded as you order but that tells you a lot. My friends out there order and enjoy!

The food is good, but the service is abysmal. Not a single mention that you can no longer dine in, and the employees have the audacity to give you attitude over it. Don't bother getting the brain tacos (tacos de sesos), they have as much brain in them as their staff... ZERO.

One of the best restaurants in Chicago. We had out of state coworkers fly in to Chicago and this place was a major hit. Its the best carnitas I've tried and my coworker from Los Angeles even agrees.

First Time Try. Brother brought me here saying they have the best Carnitas. It's the best Carnitas I ever had. Parking a hassle in the city as usual.

This place is the real deal for Carnitas! The menu is very basic, but it is explained well in Spanish and English. They have a few other items, such as Tacos Dorados (fried tacos), but their speciality is definitely Carnitas. We purchased two kilos and easily fed 4 with several meals of leftovers. Grab some tortillas while you are at it - cheap and delicious. I recommend a "mixed" meat selection, as some of the cuts you would not normally try are super tasty!

We catered for our Department (Health) and wow! We fed nesrly 70 people and still had leftovers. The carnitas are beyond incredible, and I highly recommend them. And they came out on Good Network and demolished the competition! This is what authentic is supposed to be. Lovely people, too.

This carnitas tastes as you are in Michoacán very tasty you should definitely try it, the problem is that there is not room for dine in, just take out

I've heard so much of this place so me and my husband decided to try . It was our first time there and man who took our order had a terrible attitude taking our order had no patience at all not friendly at all or wanting to explain anything about their menu . Not everyone has been a customer since years ago so we asked questions for being our first time. When I don't get a good welcoming I definitely will not return

Ordered carnitas shoulder and rib meat. Plenty of meat and lots of tortillas, cilantro, onions included. Guacamole is good. Food was hot at delivery. We are visiting Chicago and we would eat from this restaurant again. Thanks.

Came here for the potato tacos (which were fantastic) but got so much more. The staff is delightful and so helpful. The carnitas are the best I’ve ever had - Chicago, Texas, Mexico, or anywhere else! Will be back!!

Awesome ambience and it gets very crowded so try and get there early because the food is worth it. The prices are reasonable and the music is on point.

Excellent quality. But PLEASE stop asking for tips when is just a pick up or to go. It's ridiculous how everyone now ask for tips on anything.

Great carnitas tacos and salsa. HUGE portions. 1 taco could easily be 2. A little underseasoned for my personal preference but I'm a salt freak and a little touch of salt worked great. Very friendly people but don't expect them to speak English completely if you don't speak Spanish. Lovely place.

I have passed this place so many times always telling myself I check it out later.. boy have i been wrong for delaying this experience. I have never seen so much meat in one taco but there it was. The meat preparation process is a spectacle also.

Saw this place on a Netflix show "Taco Chronicles." Food was ok. Salsa was good. You can only buy food by the pound and no tortillas given with the meat. Pick up and go only. No dine-in available. I'd recommend Rubi's Tacos in Chicago over this any day.

I went to Chicago from Missouri, just to try the CARNITAS because we seen a show on Netflix showcasing this place, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED 😁 the CARNITAS were just like we have in California...the ambience and the smell in the restaurant reminded me of east L.A. restaurants....the taste and the the portions were phenomenal 🌮...there's soo much meat in the tacos, that's its soo fulfilling... 2 tacos put me out 🥱 they were FATTY and all the condiments were provided also, cilantro, onions,& limes....the horchata was also delicious and tasted like I was back in cali..AUTHENTIC ✊🏼 Definitely will be going back whenever I'm in Chicago 🙌🏽👍🏼

If you want some authentic Mexican carnitas you came to the right place. Not only are they delicious, but the atmosphere is classic Mexican inspired with friendly staff and the restaurant is kept extremely clean. A definite must.
