First time in that place. It was worth trying. Very few Mexican restaurants with dishes out of the ordinary. The chiles en nogada, the chiles stuffed with cheese and the banana enchiladas were very good, which was what we tried this time. We will return Mrs. Irma, it was a pleasure to visit your restaurant.

The mole enchiladas and chile relleno ancho were delicious! Plenty of vegetarian options if that’s what you’re looking for. Staff was friendly. They also have an amazing back patio with beautiful plants. It’s screened in, so it was possible to enjoy a delicious dinner and summer evening without bugs.

We had great dinner. The Chiles en Nogadas are the best we’ve had in the city. The mole and the Chile pablano were delicious. Highly recommend. No wait, nice patio.

I feel like nobody knows about this place, but it has awesome food. My family visited again this past Saturday night. It was quiet there but the food was wonderful, the service was attentive and very friendly, and the space is really cool, with beautiful art all over the walls. The food is really where it’s at, just absolutely delicious, with high-quality ingredients. It has to have some of the best traditional Mexican food in the city. We loved the nopalitos, the zucchini, the enchiladas verdes, and the asada taco. Good prices too. I hope more people discover this place because it deserves more love and attention.

The place is excellent! Service is friendly, professional, and just superb! Ambiance feels simple yet enticing full of colors indoors and outdoors feels clean and fresh. Food flavors and visuals are five stars. My Quesadilla was excellent, mostly because of that flour tortilla. My Chile En Nogada, the reason for my visit was delicious, flawless. From the sauce to the pomegranate and the filling, everything was tasteful. Loved my experience there.

Wonderful, authentic Mexican food and personal attention from Irma, the owner, makes La Encantada a great find near Humboldt Park and the 606. Varied menu, beautiful outdoor patio, and dining room filled with original art make this restaurant stand out from the rest. Worth checking it out for yourself!

This is one of my favorite places to bring my family for dinner. The food and the atmosphere is great.

At first my mother and I thought they were closed but we soon realized how beautiful the space is when we walked in. We met the owner, Irma, she seats one or so tables at a time and serves them herself. The ambiance, with the beautiful plants in the back area and the homemade food can’t be beat. We were so pleasantly surprised that they’ve been in our neighborhood so long and we had no idea. The food was delicious and we will be back soon. Also, buy the sauces at the front of the restaurant. Irma makes them herself. Ooh and the margaritas…

Amazing dinner I had Chile en Nogada for the first time and you can taste the love that Irma put into this dish. We will be back.

Good food with nice décor, can eat inside and can also order ahead to pick up, good service and fast. For take out, the Tortilla soup came with the tortillas inside the soup so when I got home they were soggy, other places give you the tortillas on the side for that reason so I didn't eat that. No napkins or utensils given for take out as well. As for eating in, the service was good, the enchiladas were also good either the green, red and the mole. Paid parking in front of the restaurant, they do have a covered patio in the back. In the restaurant they do have nice paintings that decorate it well. they do not accept credit cards, they do accept other forms such as cash.

Very, VERY good food. The menu is on par with Mi Tocaya or Dos. We had the ceviche, the chiles en nogada and the enchiladas en mole. Not a single disappointing bite. The drinks were also excellent. We sat on the patio, which is absolutely beautiful. I do wish more people ate at here. We were the only people there for dinner, but my guess is that’s a byproduct of the vibe the storefront and inside bar give off. The space could use a facelift to match the quality of food. I know that’s a big expense, but making it a bit more inviting would go a long way towards bringing people in the door. I’ve lived a block away for four years and have been getting coffee next door at Cafe Colida since they opened. Had I not looked it up, I would have guessed La Encantada was no longer open just walking by. Anyway, don’t let the front door fool you. Stop in for dinner. You will not regret it!

This is a story of one type of Mexican food, chile en nogada. It’s a seasonal dish, usually served only in September. It’s my favorite! I went to Mexico in February for my first vacation, after two years in my house. I spent four days with three friends in Mexico City, one of my favorite cities in the world. I kept telling them about the restaurant that has great chile en nogada all year. I checked to make sure that they were still open, but I never looked at the address. When I called the restaurant, they told me that they had moved to San Angel, which is 30 minutes outside of the city. We had been in San Angel the previous day. There was no way for us to get there before they closed, and we were leaving the next day. I was beyond disappointed! When I returned to Chicago, I Googled chile en nogada all year. I had eaten it at a downtown restaurant years ago, and it was not good. I found La Encantada, in Humboldt Park, less than 10 minutes from my house. I called and spoke to Irma, the owner. She was lovely. I told her my story and said that I would be there the following day when they opened at 5:00 to get one chile en nogada. I was quite pessimistic considering that in all of these years I had only had great chile en nogada in one restaurant and it’s in Mexico. When I opened the container, it looked wonderful. When I tasted it, I was ecstatic. It was amazing! The rice and beans that accompanied the chile were great also. I called and told Irma that she’s my new best friend. I am having my friends come for dinner in a few days, and they will be able to see what they missed. I look forward to eating in the restaurant so I can try other things, but I know that I will never go there without eating the wonderful chile en nogada!

Food was not good, prices were very high for quality and portions. Nothing was fresh or had any real flavor. Ambience was nice but restaurant was completely empty. Service was solid.

Very intimate place. The chicken enchilada was pretty good. The potatoes enchiladas were not the highlight. The chopped up potatoes were a bit hard. The rice was bit hard. However, the service was amazing the music just went along really well with the scene. I wouldn't go back but its a cute little time.

Cute place with art display and layed back music. Enjoyed some drinks, michelada and diablo were good, margarita standard, in there adorable patio and we were all pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. We had chile en nogada, Chile relleno, enchiladas suizas y poblanas. Everything had a very good homemade taste.

This place is absolutely amazing! To be honest from the outside and street it doesn’t look good but once you walk in you’d think you’re in river north with how cute it is inside with a lot of Hispanic art and a stunning outdoor patio. The food is probably the best Mexican food i’ve ever eaten at a restaurant and that’s saying something since my stepmother is Mexican and has taken me to many restaurants all over the city. It felt like you were eating food that your Abuela’s cooking (grandma in spanish) in a gourmet setting. Our waitress was so kind and the restaurant was very clean and the prices for everything are great! Can’t say enough good things about this place.

I ordered the vegetarian fajitas and it was delicious! I tried cactus for the first time and I liked it. The owner is a nice woman. The atmosphere is classy and romantic. There is also a very nice outside area, would be a great spot for a date. Would eat here again!

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to and I have been in Chicago all my life. Born and raised. If you a considering eating Mexican cuisine. I highly suggest you come here. The food and drinks are amazing. Also the setting is beautiful. You will love this place.

Dipped in from the cold to a warm environment, both physically and emotionally. Family vibe for real, but the owner lets those that are looking she can get down with the weird ones with her strange paintings and a little dali here, a little mom art there- I mean that in a nice way tho- Met Irma the said owner and eavesed as she discussed the finer points of Mexican breakfast with another patron. Based on how dope my dinner was (an exceptionally prepared chicken burrito suiza) one can only hope and pray she whips the kitchen into a breakfast mode. SHe kept it so real with me as we talked about the changing neighborhood and politics, and I almost automatically hugged her on the way out- straight up! Felt like visiting family, just met this woman too. I mean I'm a goof for real but let that shine a little light on the vibe of this place. You will feel at home, price was A_OK too. Nice one Humboldt, don't u change too much

Always a great place. Welcoming. Food is real good. Been coming here about 6 yrs. Artwork displayed. Mojitos are good along with a selection of other spirits. Shrimp dishes are great as well as the enchiladas. Appetizers are yummy. You walk in hungry and you leave just right. The salsas are real good. Chicken for sure. A great place for couples. Small groups.large groups if planned. One of my fav joints.

Absolutely amazing Mexican fine dining! The best Chile en nogada ever! The margaritas are just as amazing, too. Really a hidden gem in the center of Humboldt Park. They bring the best to the neighborhood. We have been more than once (just to make sure I was giving a just rating ). It's also a wonderful family restaurant. Kudos to the owner!

Ordered enchiladas verdes con platanos fritos (and a horchata). It was all really good - I love plantains, but I was expecting green fried plantains, not ripe fried plantains. I will eat either, but having savory plantains with a savory entree would have melded better in my own opinion. Our waitress was courteous and I will probably go back to try other meals!

Estoy mimado por la comida mexicana que ha college en Santa Fe. Tengo que decir que el crepas con Huitlacoche Poblanos fueron exquisitas - delicadas y sabrosas. Mi amigo tenía la rojas enchiladas y estaban genial. Prueba el guacamole y el queso fresco para empezar!

Sabe muy bien, el precio muy razonable y algunas cosas en el menú no encontrado en otro sitio. Volveré de nuevo.

Fantastic atmosphere. The food is always fresh and very flavorful. The enchiladas are my go to dish. The steaks and fajitas are great. Bartender makes a killer mango margarita.

Un amigo nos trajo aquí, y bien vale la pena el viaje. Inicio - comida mexicana hecha, con algunos artículos que nunca he visto en otra parte. Me dieron las enchiladas con huitlacoche (un tipo de setas o trufas que crece en maíz); deliciosa, diferente a todo lo que tuve. Lo mismo el puré de camote con chipotle (patatas dulces con chipotle). Incluso llanura enchilada en salsa roja tenía un sabor intenso y tierra-. Muy precios razonables. Y la decoración es bastante exclusivo - abierto y ventilado, con un atractivo arte. Nos sirvieron por el propietario, que era una delicia. Mojitos bastante bueno también.

The soup of tortilla, enchiladas: rojas, verdes and suizas were are delicious. The environment was calm with good music taste. And the tendense were very nice. . best mexican restaurant in the city authentic meals, fresh ingredients. The carne oxaca order it (medium), steak enchiladas, chili nogado is to die for. ignore the sketchy neighborhood you won't regret dining here the food is unreal.

I've only gotten take-out, so my starring may be generous, but the staff was friendly while I was picking up and the restaurant was very nicely decorated inside, so I expect that the dine-in experience warrants 4 stars. Steak enchiladas were good, and were also good warmed up the next day. Not spicy. They didn't seem to have a meal/plate order, so my rice and beans were separate. Given the random location, I'm not sure the price was warranted, it was a bit high for take-out and for tortillas and some meat. So probably not a regular take-out place, but also probably a nice place to go for a meal. Tons of parking around.

With it's 12' ceilings, exposed brick and colorful art, this place should be packed on the weekends. This Humboldt park hidden gem boasts solid dishes, full bar, great prices and attentive service. Try the Chile en Nogada.
