UPDATED 8/17/24: After my original review, the owner reached out to check in on us, and immediately offered to refund our adoption fee to compensate for everything we've dealt with since adopting from them. She informed me that they are no longer partnered with the rescue from which I got Cranberry, to avoid further issues. I'd like to make it very clear that the one who caused all this mess, Sherri, was the VP of the former rescue, with whom Cats and Caffeine are no longer affiliated. She (the owner) assured me that the cafe works closely with the current rescue and vets to ensure that cats get proper care. I'm happy and relieved to have heard from them on this. As upset as I was, I believe the owner handled this situation well, I love the new addition to our family, and I enjoyed past visits. _______________________________________________________________ ORIGINAL REVIEW: Adopted a very sick kitten and was told "not to worry about it." Turns out she had hookworm, conjunctivitis, and likely feline herpes, among other ailments. My partner and I started looking for a kitten earlier this year as a companion for our 4 year-old cat Beans. We visited this cafe multiple times and enjoyed the staff, the cats, and the atmosphere, and prior to actually adopting there had only good things to say. However, when we adopted our then-3-month-old kitten from them and went to pick her up, she was having some mild respiratory issues and had noticeably gunky eyes. The VP of the rescue they were formerly partnered with, Sherri, told us not to worry, and that "something was going around". That, I'm aware, is very common in cat cafes/shelters. The red flag was that she explicitly told us we DIDN'T NEED to take the cat to the vet, comparing it to a common cold in humans. Naturally, we were alarmed by her statement and took Cranberry to the vet straight away. Come to find: ongoing irritation and discharge in one eye (which we're still trying to get under control four months later), ongoing respiratory issues (wheezing and sneezing), probable feline herpes, probable allergies, and that her tummy issues that thought were due to her food, were actually due to hookworm. Both Cranberry and Beans are strictly indoors and always have been, and Beans regularly tested negative for any kind of illness or parasite before we adopted Cranberry, which means in all likelihood Cranberry picked up hookworm at the cat cafe (or at the very least, wasn't treated for it there). Looking back, none of her vet paperwork shows the cat cafe as having tested her for anything. The only thing on her vet paperwork is a spay, and standard vaccines for feline leukemia and rabies. I cannot fathom why I would've been explicitly told not to take Cranberry to the vet unless the cat cafe was aware of existing health problems and didn't want to be held responsible. I can hope that they simply didn't know, but at this point too many health issues have come up for them to have been simply mistaken for a common cold, and paperwork very clearly shows that the cat cafe made no attempts to take Cranberry for treatment or any form of diagnosis to confirm it was or wasn't a "common cold." I would be wary of adopting from this cat cafe. Perhaps this was just a one-off but the experience with that VP of the rescue could be construed as shady and--whether intentionally or unintentionally--negligent. I'm also wondering if anyone else out there who adopted their cat in March, or even April, of 2024 has experienced similar issues with their cats, as the cafe clearly stated something was "going around." I sincerely hope no other cats were affected like this, though. Giving two stars to the credit of the staff (other than the owner) that we interacted with as guests, and the overall atmosphere of the place. Disclaimer as well that we adore our new addition, adoption experience notwithstanding, and are working diligently to get her well.

I had a great experience here! The cats all seemed happy and well taken care of. The workers were incredibly helpful and were knowledgeable about each individual cat. The atmosphere was both fun and relaxing. The coffee was good too, and they were happy to make it just the way I liked it. I am looking to adopt a cat in the near future and will most definitely be back!

Came august 10th, 2024. Girl in training that was blonde was extremely rude. Arrived 4 minutes early and she told me we needed to wait outside, when I saw that the people coming in at 5 could wait inside. Someone was holding the door for the people leaving at 3, the blonde girl then proceeded to tell her to shut the door and she needs to pay attention with a nasty face. I get training can be tough but honestly she was so disrespectful compared to the other girl that was training her. Cats tho were really cute and friendly. And people followed the rules well which made for a good experience with all the cats.

It’s a beautiful place. I swear the cats look so happy, It’s well kept for the kitties. I got a muffin and me and my friend got coffees. Everything was really good! When we went, I didn’t realize you need reservations. Luckily the girl working today still let us in since there were two open slots! She let us stay the whole hour even though we came in late. She was extremely nice and friendly. The cats were ADORABLE and SO SWEET. Me and my friend had so much fun. Totally recommend this place!

took my niece here for her 13th birthday and she said it was the best part of her day! We came on a Wednesday at 5pm and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. So many cute kittens lots were playful and lots were cuddly.

The iced vanilla latte was great. But I didn't go for the coffee. I went for a feline fix while on vacation. Best. Hour. Ever. I talked to kittens, and pet and cuddled, and fell in love with each and every cat. If flying a cat home to MD wasn't expensive, I would have adopted five. My favorite cat cafe yet. Very nice atmosphere, it’s super cute inside. The cats seem well cared for and were great. The drinks are also really good - I got an iced strawberry rose matcha and it was delicious. I like that they don’t let in too many people at once so the cats are happy. The Clermont cat cafe lets in so many people it gets crazy loud and the cats are stressed, but it was pretty quiet in here.

I went to Cats and Caffeine as part of a friend's birthday celebration. Oh my goodness, the kittens are so adorable!! So many different kittens with different personalities! I love that the cafe requires booking in advance. That keeps the lounge from overcrowding and allows for maximum interaction with the adorable kitties. The cold brew coffee was also enjoyable, but spending time with those kittens definitely relieves any stress you may have. Highly recommend!!! I will be going back!

There were many cats available to play and hang with. We saw one get adopted today too! The place is clean and tranquil. My daughter really enjoyed this experience and can’t wait to be back!

We loooove this place! We've been for my birthday 2 years in a row now, and actually are now adopting a kitty from here as well! The kittens are well loved by staff and guests, and we love that they're socialized with other kitties and they get to stay in a more relaxed environment than a shelter while they wait to be adopted. We love the coffee here too - I believe our favorite comes from Avery - who is just an absolute doll! She has a great personality and very obviously cares about all the kitties and was more than happy to tell us all about any we had questions about. She was very knowledgeable and seriously made the best coffee we have ever had. We always have a wonderful time here and will definitely be back!! Can't recommend it enough!

This place is so good. The staff are all really sweet and they don't hover over you while your loving on the kitties they stay back and let you enjoy your time. The parking is vary accessible to get into.

I brought my cat lover daughter here for a birthdya surprise for her 17th birthday and it was everything i was hoping for! She loved it and i did as well and i dont even like cats! The staff are very friendly and place is super clean and cats well taken care of!

What a satisfying way to spend a few hours…!! OR any time!! I have 4 adults and presently 7 kittens at my house….and absolutely adore Them All !!! I’ve already found Soon to Be loving home for all but two🐈‍⬛🐾💕 but I’m not worried and will get them loving homes OR keep them! I’m just Not adding them to the overcrowded shelters and placing them in cages. My Heart won’t let me!💕

Had the best time at Cats and Caffeine, the hour we booked flew by!! We came in around 6pm on Saturday so most of the kittens were tuckered out but towards the last thirty minutes of our hour a lot of them perked back up to play. Either way we loved every minute getting to pet, love on and entertain all the adorable kittens and cats here! All of them are gentle and sweet and I was shocked at how chill and relaxed the vibes were. When we came in the girls working were so nice and let everyone know to rotate so every person could get a chance to interact with different kittens which I loved. My worry was that some people coming would be too attached to one cat and not let anyone else pet or play with them but it was not the case here. My other big surprise was how sensory friendly it was. They don’t play any music and the people who come in are quiet and relaxed just like the kittens (at least they were for our session I’m not sure if all sessions are the same given everyone is fairly different). The girls working there told us the names of the cats and gave us some information on what cat is related to who and some of their personalities. They’ve even got sheets where you can write future kitten name suggestions! There is also no smell and the place is kept sparkling clean! I swear I barely saw any cat hair on the floor! We didn’t get any food but I did order the dragonfruit mango refresher and it was delicious!!! Overall this was such a fun experience and a lovely little hour of kitten therapy. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves cats or is looking to adopt and would like a much more relaxed atmosphere to do so! If we do decide to adopt we will for sure come back to Cats and Caffeine🩷
