We did do takeout but the inside looked nice! Stopped in Baton Rouge on our way west and found this place on Tripadviser. Highly rated so we tried it. Sorry for lack of photos but we had Mongolian Beef, Hot and Sour Soup and General Tso’s Chicken. Best Mongolian Beef ever! Wow! So much flavor and generous amount of sauce and beef! I had beef in every bite and the sauce was spicy and outstanding! The Hot and Sour Soup was delicious! And the General Tso’s was equally phenomenal! The staff was incredibly friendly and courteous. If we ever pass through here again, we will definitely return. Amazing food!

Food is Authentic and so good! We got the Pan fried dumplings - dumplings taste homemade (in the good way)! Cashew Chicken - the chicken, zucchini, carrots, green bell peppers and sauce were all so good! Small Lo Mein noodle - Again, Amazing with the right flavors! Sesame Chicken - my daughter said it was absolutely amazing and she found her new favorite Chinese food restaurant while she is at LSU… go Tigers! Make sure you check your receipt vs. bank statement. They charged my account the total of our check plus another customers check. I caught the “error” a few days later when the charges posted to my bank account. The owner returned my call within 15 minutes and apologized profusely and refunded my bank account within about an hour (took 2 days to post back into my account). I am sure this was a simple mistake made by the server, we all make mistakes. 😊

One of the best places in Baton Rouge for Chinese food. The Ambiance here is welcoming with plants everywhere and it is also a very clean and well-maintained place.

Not your typical American-Chinese Restaurant. Its good. Need to dine in next time. The Bok Choy w/ Shitake mushrooms. 🤌🏽

If you are anywhere near the hospital, check this place out for Chinese food. I recommend the double cooked pork (salty and a bit spicy. My favorite dish so far) the general tso chicken (spicy and sweet) is the best I have had anywhere around here, and the Mongolian beef ( a bit of extra heat) is also great. Good mellow atmosphere with attentive service. Best Chinese food in town.

My friends and I were passing through baton rouge to lake charles, we chose to stop here and grab a bite to eat. The service was wonderful and attentive, the people were so welcoming, friendly and polite. The food was great, and the presentation was also. I would absolutely recommend eating there; because if im ever back in baton rouge i will be stopping in again.

The food is really good here. This was my first time eating here. I will definitely return. Service was good too. I had Lo Mein with beef and it was great. There are numerous lunch specials that are in the $16 range.

We were in town for a baseball tournament and our children wanted some rice and noodles. We stopped in here because of the reviews and they did not disappoint. The fried rice was delicious! We also enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken and egg drop soup. What made the experience so pleasant was the staff. The owner came over and talked with us for a bit. He was very friendly and personable. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

Everything was cooked to order and had unique tastes for each dish. Great quality and reasonable prices. My new favorite in town! Mr. Cheng took the time to visit with us and was very attentive to our needs. Great find!

Stopped in for lunch. Nice clean place. Plenty of parking. Polite fast service. Great waitress stressed they can adjust spice to any customer tastes. Had triple delight. EXCELLENT. All around great place in food service and atmosphere. $20 for a first class lunch was a fair price.

Food was not good. It ranked as the worst Chinese food I have ever had. We should have left when we walk in and it is prime dinner time and there was just one person there. The food was horrible. We ordered chicken fried rice and Mongolian beef. Both were bad. We should have kept driving and just gotten fast food as I’m sure that would have been better.

Best Chinese in town and they took special care of my elderly mother. Highly recommend. Chinese lunch special came in bento box. Spicy shrimp and veggies with delicious egg roll, noodles were terrific

We love this restaurant. The food is hot and fresh. We have also found that they are consistent and we enjoy whether eating there or bringing it home. They will do special requests in some cases (we ask for the garlic pork to be made with chicken).

Really great restaurant for Chinese food. Far better than most others I've tried in the city. The staff is very friendly and make you feel welcome. The menu is mostly familiar, so its not hard pick something to try. Food was very fresh and the portion sizes are ample as well. Probably one of the best fried rice ive had. The atmosphere was nice, which just added to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good Chinese food in Baton Rouge.

i visited baton rouge and stayed at the l'auberge and ordered delivery 3 times in my stay here at this place. apparently they are so cheap they can't even put utensils for orders for 2 people. me and my boyfriend like chinese food and ordered. last time we specifically called to make sure they put utensils and apparently they want us to eat with our hands. food was ok more americanized then authentic and portions were ok.

Some of the best food experience I've had in a while. Very quick and attentive service, and of course high quality and great tasting food.

Food was nasty. Fresh yes.... but nasty. Chicken fried rice & wings. I tried to give it away to my family but NOONE wanted it after tasting it. Beware the parking lot was DARK & SKETCHY at night.

Saw this place every time I passed Essen on the I10. The food was very good. I got the lunch special..and yes, I'm a regular. I've only tried The schezwan chicken, extra spicy!

This place is old and outdated seems like it's old and outdated the food was okay but honestly you would get better food from China One on Government Street which is also for cheaper I would suggest avoiding this place it may have been good at one point as we went based off of the ratings it had but definitely will not be returning

Love this place! Everybody is so friendly. We had two specials: Wuxi Pork Rib and Hofun. We also had some fried rice. Both specials were delicious. The ribs had a sweet/sour bbq sauce and were on a bed of perfectly steamed baby Chinese cabbage. The ric noodles added a bit of chewiness to the Hofun which is a beef dish with bamboo shoots and sweet onions in a delicious brown sauce. I highly recommend Cheng’s.

Iced tea is mentionable. TSO should go spicy. Hunan was slightly unbalanced.

I wasn't impressed. I ordered won ton soup and it only had 4 tiny wontons. I guess they were going for the 5 star look. SO, I paid a large amount for 2 teaspoons of soup. Also, I ordered it over the phone and they had the nerve to add a tip on the bill. This place is overrated and I will not frequent this place again.

We have enjoyed a couple of dinners here. Good service in a pleasant ambiance. The quality of the meals is high, with fresh ingredients. We have enjoyed several of the chicken dishes, the edamame and the lo mein. All recommended. The ambiance is fine, although a couple of the walls are bare. They have two or three pretty pieces of art and the lighting is ok.

I had not been here since it was Omi. I was surprised to see some of the same unusual menu items (like Ants Climbing Trees) so there must be some carry-over from Omi. I had the beef chou fun and it was delicious as were the dishes of the other three at my table. There prices were a little high for lunch, but not crazy. I'll definitely go back.

I had a wonderful experience. Hot and sour soup is perfect on a cold day. If you like pork belly, the double cooked pork is a must try. Large portion. Relaxing atmosphere. The owners are the nicest people. Great Chinese spot in Baton Rouge

We had a great lunch at Cheng's today with my family! The food was very tasty and reasonably priced (lettuce wraps, dumplings, 4 lunch plates, mochi ice cream)! The service was great - helpful, friendly, and quick! The restaurant and restrooms were very clean also!

Exceptional as usual. Everything comes out sizzling. Best crab Rangoon hands down in Baton Rouge. Owner is always engaging customers and getting feedback to improve customer satisfaction. Great example for other establishments.

Cheng’s is a wonderful establishment! The restaurant is clean, the staff are so friendly and accommodating for families, and the FOOD! Its fabulous! We were so happy to enjoy an authentic Chinese meal, hosted by Philip. We had fried pork dumplings and Mongolian Beef. The Mongolian Beef is their most popular dish, and we could see why. Tender and flavorful, but not over-whelming with the spices. We drove across town to get here and it was certainly worth it. (PS if you are using the Google lady, she has you make some abrupt turns. We missed one, but it was easy to turn around and get to the restaurant.)

Got here for midday lunch. Tried the sesame chicken lunch special. It was very good. The portion size was great. Not overloaded on the rice. I liked the bento box style trays. I’ll probably try the “Ants Climbing Trees” dish next time. 👍🏻

The best Chinese food by far in South Louisiana. The flavors were complex, balanced, and simple- all at once. I felt I was on Top Chef tasting the winning dishes. Hyperbole. Perhaps. Yet, the meal was excellent. The service was attentive yet respectful. I look forward to going back for the chef specials, off the menu specials, and the many highly recommended dishes.

This was our first time eating at Cheng’s and it was pretty good! We ordered combination fried rice, lettuce wraps, sesame chicken, and pepper steak. The pepper steak was the favorite dish by far. The owner and staff are very friendly as well. We will put this on our list of restaurants to stop at when we are traveling through Baton Rouge.
