The BEST Taco Salad. Only cash is accepted, but other than that, it's my favorite lunch place

Good food, but limited to lunch service

The food was mediocre at best. The lady that took our order was beyond rude. No greeting, no thank you, and they don’t take a card in 2024. So bring. CASH. Will not be back

Nasty attitudes dirty restaurants food sub par but the worst is the attitude of employees

I’m not sure how they have such a high rating. Me and my wife went there and just from being outside we already had bad vibes. We went in and we were not greeted, the lady at the counter just stared at us like we were aliens or something. And looking at the menu on the wall, it was hard to read that it was written in small writing on a posterboard. And Steel as we look, the lady just stared at us with a crazy look on her face. So once we did order, I noticed that it was cash only . My wife ordered a turkey deluxe sandwich and I ordered bacon lettuce tomatoes. It came with chips and we had to order the drinks à la carte. I will be came up to $25 so I’m thinking the sandwiches were gonna be huge. So we got our food , and the lady that gave me my food. She was very nice and told me to have a good day, that’s actually the only real greeting that we even got. So once we got back home, we was looking at the food, and I was in shock that it was just a regular sandwich with a little bit shredded lettuce, a real skinny flimsy tomato, and two strips of bacon that were burnt and hard. my wife’s sandwich was cut up but it looked like it was two sandwiches. My sandwich was so thin. You really couldn’t tell anything was on it until you opened it up. I was so disappointed that we paid this much for $25 and my wife said her sandwich was all right. But my sandwich was not good at all. For $25, it should’ve been more portions size, and it taste definitely should have been a lot better, the tea, however, was good. And all off, my wife even left them a tip. If I’m ever in the Jacksonville area again, I do not recommend this place, nor will I ever give them another chance.

Place is cash only, pretty important to know that before hand. I Got a medium taco salad, it was delicious(actually had a ton of flavor) and enough to satisfy me. It’s probably enough food for two meals for an average person. I will definitely be returning when working in the area. The only complaint is there are only a handful of seats inside.

I have been coming to this establishment for 40 years and the Taco Salad is still the best after all those years.. So if you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop by for the BEST Taco Salad you will ever eat!!! ❤️. You will not be disappointed.

I went there and bought a hamburger. The hamburger was already cooked. They just heated it up in a pan. The food was mediocre at best. With the high rating, I expected it to be fresh. I'd pass on the place. The place was just a dump.

Can't talk on the food. Was talked to so rudely we lost our appetite and left. 🤷‍♀️ after reading reviews saying they would rather lose customers anyways I figure my family of 6 can dine elsewhere where we're welcomed in rather than or presence is greeted with annoyance before we can even sit down.

Stay away!! This place used to be decent, but now the people and the food are terrible. Beware of bad meats, then when you bring it to their attention, rather than apologize and do the right thing they would rather argue and lose a customer. Pretty pathetic way to operate a business.

I’ve been here plenty of times in the past and had great service and food, but today the lady taking the orders was very rude. She was rude when she took my order. Also, I understand that it’s a small place and it can get crowded very fast, but don’t assume people know that they can go behind the building and our food will be brought back there and handed out. She was very rude and acted as if customers should just know that. 🤦‍♀️ I gave 4 stars on food because the chips were beyond soggy.

Love this little place always packed but the staff is super nice and efficient!! Love this place drive over 45 minutes to go! And they will put everything in its own container so you can build your taco salad when you get home so the chips aren't soggy. But they are cash only fyi

I tried to call in two taco salads at 130 and they told me they wouldn’t take a phone order but as long as I got there by 2 they would make them. I arrived at 1:58 and the staff was walking out the door. I drove from northern saint johns county. Very disappointed. If a place closes at 2, I generally would expect the staff to leave around 2:30 after they clean up and shut down.

I heard about this hidden gem years before I moved out here in the area,now ive been a 23 yr loyal customer, ALWAYS the best taco salads,and those girls in there got it down, lf ya don't know,ya better find out! One of BIG DADDYS favorite spots!

This is a small, authentic sandwich shop. But they are famous for their Taco Salads. I had my first one today and I will be back for sure!!! Only three tables to eat inside, but they do have gazebos out back. Important note: they only accept cash. Price point is around $10-15 plus drink per person. Enjoy!!!

Such a great and quirky restaurant in the Hecksher/Zoo area that cannot be beat. You can come for their famous taco salad or for their array of sandwiches, but you need to try this spot. It is not in an outdoor mall or strip center, but that just adds to the charm. They have a few tables I side, but if it is a nice day, sit outside in the gazebos and don’t keep to yourself, people here enjoy a good chat so introduce yourself to others in your gazebo. Only one suggestion, when you drive in the entrance, pull through the first parking area and go behind the restaurant, there is more parking in the other side. But you really want to hear about the food: Egg Salad - messy, but my favorite sandwich. Cheeseburger - good, but you can get burgers anywhere. Banana Pudding - not my favorite. Small Taco Salad - perfect size for lunch, but you will be stuffed. Medium Taco Salad - more of a good thing for you big eaters Large Taco Salad - okay, this is too much of a good thing. It will give you a food baby abd require an afternoon nap. Meatless Taco Salad - perfect for those of you who abstain from red meat. It is not vegan, but it is DELICIOUS. Really worth a visit for breakfast or lunch.

On my way to Oceanway and took Eastport because traffic was all crazy on 295 due to heavy rain. Past by this little gem. Came back for lunch. Had to go get cash at an ATM because Cleo’s is cash only. Ordered their famous Taco Salad and a coke. Sat outside in 1 of their cute little outdoor gazebos. Thoroughly enjoyed the Taco salad. I got the large but I couldn’t eat it all. I definitely will be back Cleo. It’s a quaint little locals place. Everyone was very friendly even though they were trying to close up. Must be only open for lunch.

Ordered two taco salads and we live 3 minutes down the road And we got home and it was very very very cold and we eat there quite a bit and it's normal hot. We call to discuss the issue and she says we know damn well the cook made it right when you ordered it and has a very very rude attitude. And was very unpleasant. My husband grew up near the restaurants area and didn't introduce me to this place until within the last year, I could knock him out for that only because I could have been enjoying this place longer. It's a true Jacksonville hidden gem and they don't lie when they say they have the best taco salads. I don't like ranch but their ranch is sooo good. They have a good menu variety but I've only had the taco salads. All the staff are so sweet and friendly. They only have 2-3 tables inside but they have pretty screened in gazebos for outdoor seating. And it's cash only so don't forget to stop by an ATM on your way!

I heard a lot about the taco salad so I went to eat here for the first time today. It was the first and definitely the last for me. Absolutely delicious, they truly live up to the title of "best taco salad in town" they've never let me down. If you want bad food terrible service and a disgusting eating environment then go somewhere else. They get great food out very fast and keep everything nice and clean ☺️
