Great small town, off the highway, place to grab a quick bite and ice cream. Love the outdoor, quaint seating. Been an area staple for 70 years!

One of my favourite summer stops my entire life. But please get some decent straws for the shakes, I couldn't drink the last couple with those "coffee stirrers".

We made a wrong turn and wound up finding a great place for a summertime treat! The Food: While the menu had all sorts of things to try, we didn't want to take forever in the drive-thru. We ordered a Banana Split Cyclone. This was a great choice - it has real chunks of bananas and pineapple, with blended strawberries. It was a very nice treat on a hot August afternoon. The Service; From the drive-thru, it was fast, fresh, and friendly. The Atmosphere; We didn't get out to enjoy the many little areas to take in the experience. (Maybe next time). But from the car it looks clean and well kept. We're definitely going to stop by for another!

With a group or alone, it is a nice place to go. There are lots of pretty flowers and plenty of seating.

This was a regular stop when we were kids. Saw it as I was driving thru. Had to stop for old-time's sake. It still never disappoints.

This is a walk up and/or drive through little treat of a place with excellent food items. Sandwiches, fried sides, and many choices of ice cream products. I had a delicious unbreaded tenderloin and criss cut fries. There are benches, picnic tables in and out of the sun. Great lil place to stop and take a break on your drive.

This place is a summer treat. My whole family loves when they open. A must try!

We waited awhile. Service was friendly though. They have lots of nice area to be outside. Next time I won't get the peach sundae. I expected sauce, but there were just a few cut up peaches. The shakes that the others got were very good 👍

To me it's the most historical Ice cream places in Iowa. Very excellent place to get ice cream.

We just got double cheeseburgers and fries and two rootbeers. It took forever, they guy didn't even know how to place a double order. When we finally got the food the burgers were so badly burned that we couldn't even eat them and our fries were completely soggy like they were only partially cooked so we ended up with a meal that we couldn't even eat.

As always, excellent. The atmosphere is outside, it can't get better than that!

This is a classic roadside institution, best milkshakes around and good food at a reasonable price! Don't forget to take cash, they do not accept cards, here is cash only.

Cute little ice cream shop that serves food. Only put 4 star because I asked for butterscotch in my turtle and didn't get it or the normal Carmel for that matter. Even with the missing stuff it was Soo yummy.

The price is right, crazy cheap compared to DQ, and it's a nice destination drive. There are a couple of kids who work there that could use some training on the Taylor machine and how to get a good swirl, but all else is good. Don't know about the food, just the ice cream.

Dairy Mart is iconic as an ice cream provider in this area of Iowa. It is a destination for locals as well as those traveling 218. A lot of ice cream combinations and good food for the traveler alike.

This place is going down hill, the wait time is getting out of hand the quality of products is going down everything is now smaller... except the price. It's no longer fun to drive to Ainsworth for ice cream.

Best roadside food stand for 30+ years! Great burgers, tenderloins, and sides; and the best soft serve treats!! Order food by calling ahead and get your ice cream when you pick up.

I have been going here since I was a little kid. Still love coming here. One of the few places I can get a vanilla and strawberry swirl ice cream cone. Always look forward to the frozen yogurt flavor of the week. The food is always good too, but be prepared for a long wait because of the massive number of orders. I always recommend ordering food ahead of your arrival.

As always great!! Been going there since I was 3yrs old. The banana flavor ice-cream is one of my favorites!! Add the crunch topping to any cup of ice-cream is always a win choice. Their banana splits are great to get if your going to sit there and enjoy. Corn nuggets my favorite hot food there. Great place to eat, sit outside with your favorite people. Summer habit.

Amazing fried mushrooms, cauliflower, and tenderloin, very low price, nostalgic atmosphere, very limited seeting & only outdoors so grab to-go or bring a picnic blanket!

Best ice cream in the area and very reasonably priced

My parents stopped here on our way home after shopping on Thursday nights at Washington. It was a special treat, they have a nice flavored soft serve. I come back to Iowa to see relation, and I still have to stop for a treat, that still tastes good. It has been seventy years now, and still enjoying every bite.

Dairy Mart has always been great food and ice cream. But they must have changed the burgers to a frozen patty, not nearly as good. I would have given a five stars for the old burger.

Decent ice cream (was very melty when we were there at about 5pm on a Sunday) and the frozen yogurt was underwhelming. My son liked his cheeseburger and the corn nuggets were quite tasty (nice and hot and fresh). The wait time was quite long for these items, but there were nice seating areas and bathroom facilities. :)

Only one worker so very slow. Cleaning the frozen yogurt machine so no yogurt. Strawberry machine broken so no strawberry. Long term issue. Only vanilla and chocolate available.

The Decline of Greatness. Inflation and other things take their toll, and Dairy Mart seems to be no exception. We went back on opening day this year, 2022, and were disappointed to see prices have gone up and cup sizes have gone down. It's no longer worth it to drive over here from Columbus Junction when the prices are now as high as the more local Dairy Sweet, and the cups are now smaller. Original review, for context: My 2nd favorite ice cream shop in the US! Dairy Mart always has good flavors and is in a convenient location. They even have a good variety of frozen yogurt if you're into that sort of thing. Also, their outdoor seating is very pleasant. Their abundance of flowers makes it feel like you're dining in a garden.

Hot fudge sundae was wonderful! Our banana split was kind of small. Only had 2 small dallops of ice cream, a banana, and 1 small scoop of strawberries. Paid $8.45 for both, not too bad of a price, just wish the banana split was better.

Oh my goodness, the ice cream is made from heaven!! 😍😍😍 it's really really GREAT!. The flavors are so good! Like the Peanut Butter shake, Blackberry Shake, and Banana Split! The workers here try ultimate best to help the costumers and make the best food for them to enjoy the Middle Spring and All Summer!!. Very patient and kind. They also have tables and chairs for you to just hangout and enjoy your food or Ice Cream during the nice weather! I highly recommend people to come and eat their Ice Cream and Food!
