Had the tenderloin and sweet potato fries, she had the dirtybird specialty burger, and the loaded chips. Awesome food! Only serve bottle or can beer, about $9-$14 a plate. We spent more cause of beer. Service was fast, laid-back and friendly. Definitely recommend a visit, worth the 35+ min ride! 💯

Eyan the chef does a fantastic job. Every dish he prepared for me is award-worthy. He grows the mushrooms for the mushroom burgers himself.

If you’re out on Hwy 336 just east of Carthage Illinois you should stop by the Dirty Bird Bar and Grill. The owner, a local, was very polite and friendly. We ordered the dirty bird specialty burger. It had a really good garlic Parmesan sauce, over an onion ring topped Burger. The patty was a nice juice beef burger. The homemade chips were tasty and crisp, combined with the dirty bird dip were outstanding. You should give it a try we did and we didn’t regret it.

Its a bar so that is your atmosphere when we went there were more families than anything making it a nice experience. I just dont like that the servers ignore you since their busy. Stop, apologize, aknowledge the people that you make your money off of and then keep going but I waited 20 minutes to ask for a menu since we had dogs and were outside and then another 20 mintues to have my order taken and when i asked how much longer it would be she had forgotten to send my order to the kitchen but didnt have the guts to say it to me. Food was awesome kitchen staff dont know what goes on back there but the food is harmony.

I wish i had found this place a day earlier. I'll definitely be back next time I'm camping in Nauvoo. The hot breakfast is worth the drive.

Great food and hometown atmosphere!

The fried pickles are homemade and breaded to perfection. The fried mushrooms are fantastically hand breaded portobellos. All of our food was delicious and spot on. Our server went above and beyond. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend when in the Carthage, IL area.

Visiting from out of town. Had the dirty bird specialty burger and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious, & the garlic parmesan sauce on the burger was so good 😋

My specialty burger was absolutely delicious. It had a garlic aioli sauce that was wonderful. Unfortunately, my French fries were cold and underdone, even though I asked for them extra-crispy. My lemon pudding cake dessert was pretty good. The waitress was friendly, professional, and efficient, even though we had a large group. A nice bar with specialty drinks that sounded great, even though I didn't have any. Plenty of parking and tables. Not a place for a quiet or private conversation, but we were in a large group, so that was fine. This is definitely one of the better restaurants in the area.

Great grilled tenderloin. Also, great big Mac burger. Love the pickles served with sandwiches too. 12-24-2023 had lunch there again, it was still great sandwiches. Mozzarella sticks are really good.

Probably the best place to eat in Carthage. The breakfast is good. When we had lunch there, it was okay. I had the chicken sandwich, and it wasn't seasoned. The portions are large and filling. The folks I was with really enjoyed their burgers.

Just fantastic😍! I just love their Jalapeno poppers, portobello mushrooms, onion rings, and fried pickles. Jalapeno poppers are out of this world if you like something spicy. Must visit place for beer and liquor snacks.

A out of the way bar-restaurant that is worth the trip. This newly renovated building with the friendliest staff is a delicious place for breakfast. Their breakfast bowls are delicious and the omelettes never fail. Even the price is reasonable.

I'm not much for going to a bar, but this place was amazing! Anything with the garlic parmesan sauce is worth the cost (and that's so reasonable). I had the Specialty burger. Meat was done to perfection. My companion had chicken strips (which are large) with the garlic parmesan sauce. This place is AMAZING!!!!

Food was decent. Service was okay. Horseshoe says comes piled high with fries (which makes it a horseshoe obviously),but then they charge you $3.50 for the fries. There was also minimal fries on the horseshoe; not piled high. An $8.00 chicken sandwich that does not come with any sides and then get charged 50 cents for mayo. Do better.

Stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. It was a little sleepy, but I was served quickly. the portion was just right, and most importantly, it was pretty good.

Waited for a long time to receive drinks, took twice as long to have our order taken. No napkins offered. No refills.

We went there today- totally worth it! First, the waitress was super friendly. The choices big! We didn’t wait long for the food. Everything tasted sooo good! 1st visit-The menu has some excellent choices to choose from. Very friendly, clean atmosphere. The staff were on their feet. Our drinks never went empty. The food was AMAZING! 2nd visit- Super Friendly Staff, we just swung in for a quick drink & bite. We got a double cheeseburger, fried pickles & BLT! Delicious! The only reason why I gave service a 4 ☆ is because my restroom stall had no TP yeeks thankfully the other stall did!

Specialty Bird Dip with Bird Chips will make us repeat customers! HUGE chicken strips! Hubby and son are always searching for great tenderloins, and they both gave thumbs up and want to return for more. Tenderloin salad was very nicely plated, honey mustard dressing delicious! Sunday night, only one waitress. She was friendly, did an excellent job. Just know to allow some time for your visit. Once our order was in, appetizers arrived quickly and food followed in perfect timing. We'll be back!

Tad bit loud. Service was super for being too busy for one bartender/server. Was about 40 people and the young lady handled it like a champ. I did read the menu and was surprised to see that you have to ask for lettuce, tomato and onion.

I had a queso tenderloin horseshoe and it was amazing! Everyone in my party loved their food and the service was outstanding!

The Dirty Bird has great food and a fun atmosphere. If you are looking for a fun place to grab some good bar food, burgers, and a beer, this is definitely the place to go. My wife and I tried the fried portobello mushrooms, and they were excellent! I had the Sunrise burger (a hamburger with cheese, bacon, and an over easy fried egg on Texas Toast) that was great as well.

Traveling through and read the reviews. So glad we stopped! Food was wonderful and prices were great. Nice and clean with excellent, fast service! Will stop again next time through!

My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch and they had a great special today... I had there special witch was Homemade Potatoe Salad an a Ruben and they smoked the meat ...The entire special was awesome and absolutely delicious....The bar tender Brittany waited on use an she was absolutely great from the time we come in the door.....My wife had the tenderloin and homemade chips and she was very pleased with everything..... Thank you for the great meals we will definitely be back.....

Loved the atmosphere. Had a party of 9 for supper, service was quick, courteous, and food was outstanding❣️ Everyone in our party discussed, "Why hadn't we gone there sooner?" Probably because we forget it's there, due to the fact it's outside of town location. We'll go back for sure!!

Ate lunch there as it's close by hospital where family was. Sandwich was fantastic and everyone else's with our party of five were great too!

Second visit and it was even better this time. $5 tenderloin on Mondays! Food is excellent and cheap also.

My family and I were passing through the area and saw that they had good reviews, so we decided to give them a shot. I am so glad we did. The food was out of this world. I especially loved the chicken tenders and onion rings. My family tried a variety of items, and everyone loved their food. Blake was phenomenal server. We will definitely be back.
