Started with the French onion soup and it was ok. My wife had the bigity big burger, which was good. I had the Cuban sandwich, and it was great. Both came with housemade chips with a blue cheese drizzle and green onions. My wife enjoyed those, but I wasn't crazy about them. We took cake back to the hotel for later. The red velvet was great! Kind of slow service, but the food was worth it.

During my visit to Tampa in May 2019, I had a fantastic dining experience at Datz. Despite the parking being a bit of a challenge due to the restaurant's popularity, I managed to snag a prime spot right in front of the establishment. Although the restaurant was bustling, I only had to wait around 15 minutes before being seated - a testament to the efficient service. Once seated, I opted for the Datz Spray Tan drink accompanied by a Cobb salad with chicken. Both were incredibly satisfying and lived up to the establishment's reputation. One thing that stands out about Datz is its extensive selection of beverages, including an impressive array of beer, wine, bourbon, and whiskey. Their food options are equally diverse, catering to breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The constant buzz around the restaurant is a clear indication that the owners know what they're doing, and the patrons appreciate it. Given my excellent experience, I can confidently say that Datz will be on my list of places to revisit the next time I'm in Tampa. Cheers!

PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Don't let the fact that Google says open and that you can make a reservation online fool you! Ruined our family's last morning of vacation in Tampa. Their website makes no mention of the fact they're permanently closed. I was able to make a reservation on Resy for 10 people, got texts confirming and everything. We all excitedly looked at the menu online, read all the reviews, etc. None of us could tell from Datz's online presence that it is permanently closed. Then we show up to an abandoned parking lot and see the sign, "Datz all folks 8/27/2023" and scramble to make alternative plans for such a large group. Maybe locals know not to trust Google, the Datz website, AND Resy because they can drive by and see the restaurant closed, but it is completely unacceptable and inconsiderate that the company not update their Google listing, website, Resy, etc. It's not that hard. As a business owner, I've updated hours, location, website, all kinds of things on my business's Google listing, and it could not be easier.

Man listen if you in the Tampa area make the drive to this place and order the Nashville Chicken Doughnut. The bih go CRAZY!!!! Very well balanced I ordered it to go but that bih didn’t make out the door. I usually don’t leave reviews but please get this and enjoy it. If it means anything the water was good

I can not rave about this place enough. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all amazing! I can't wait to go back. I know this sounds crazy, but try the Brussels sprouts. They are a delicious bacony delight.

Really great brunch! We've brunched here 2x the day after Tampa concerts before heading home to Orlando. Highly recommend!!!!

Service and atmosphere were great, however a black iced coffee cost $6.00 (more than starbucks) and the food was disgustingly disappointing. Way below average. I came in starving but couldn’t finish the meal.

Lots of unique foods and flavor combos that you’ll have to come back several times to try them all. The portion sizes were massive! I think all of them could probably be shared between two people. I made my decision after looking at pics of the food on Yelp. I went with the meatloaf stuffed with mac and cheese, the pictures (and I know mine will probably be like the rest) but did not do it justice on the size of the meatloaf, it was so big! My one complaint is I should’ve requested the ketchup on the side, I didn’t realize how much ketchup was on the meatloaf and I do not like ketchup and mac and cheese. My boyfriend had the Cheesy Tod Burger (as seen on GMA). The burger (like my meatloaf) was also very big. Instead of bread for the buns, it was two fried mac and cheese “buns”, talk about creative! This place definitely seems like a fun brunch spot, which they do offer.

Took my friend here and we both loved the ambiance. No wait, good food good service! Our server hanna was on point and the bourbon chocolate cake was the best chocolate cake ive ever had.

I don't see how this place has so many good reviews. The people are nice and great service but the food is just horrible! The fried potatoes were cold and soggy(out of a bag definitely not fresh) Bacon was hard like it has been sitting out. Just gross! Our waiter was amazing though.

I'm from NC, so I'll start with THEY HAVE PEPSI!!!! The food and service was phenomenal. The portions were great. The appearance of the food was picturesque and appealing. They also gave me an idea for all my empty wine bottles!

Awesome time at Datz… the waiter Kyrin was amazing! It was our friend’s 30th bday so we did a “13 going on 30” brunch as our friend “aged” to 30 during the day. The staff made her a card which was super sweet… would give 6 stars if I could

Yeah, so this was not my fave....that picture of the mac and cheese bun burger.....you're not getting that. The mac and cheese bun was pretty over fried......nice dill pickle slices like that? Nah, you're getting cheap hamburger slices... I opted to have a salad instead of the chips and that was really nice. Service was fine. We sat upstairs and it was hot....but, hey, it's 100 degree August in Florida.

Excellent service from Hunter tonight. He made sure our every need was attended to and you can tell he’s really putting in the work at the bar. Sure am going to miss Datz thanks to awesome servers like Hunter. I had the Fish-N-Chips and asked for bread, but they did even better and brought out two nice grilled pieces of thick toast. They decided they needed me to have the best of the best obviously. They’re really going out strong at Datz Tampa.

Ordered eggs over easy, got hard eggs over hard, over priced for what you get. Waitress was excellent. Cook not so good.

Alyssa was a great waitress, I was blown away by how enthusiastic she was even though it’s the last few weeks. She’s really going out strong. The service at Datz is always spot-on. I had the roger’s rockin Rueben which bears the name of Roger of Datz Group. It was absolutely prime especially when dipped in the drizzle. I was in heaven. Also the monkey bread was really a good ending to the meal when split between a few people.

Deja was a great bartender. Had a blast at Datz!

This place was so good so worth the wait, but this location is closing in a month so flood their doors, be patient and enjoy some of the best food in Tampa 🥰🥰🥰🥰

This was my first experience at Datz & would easily rate this one of the top restaurants I’ve been to since moving to FL a year ago. 10/10 on all accounts! Absolutely delicious food with plenty of options. (Pictured is the Kentucky Colonel Bowl) Service was attentive and helpful with decision making process & the restaurant itself is a site worth seeing. Thankful I got to stop in before they close down.

One of our go to spots. If you want to experience a little Tampa Bay history, Datz is a good stop. Food is always good and the atmosphere is great. If there's a downside, it's the parking.

A fond farewell to Datz on S. MacDill Ave. A very popular restaurant will close in about 30 days. We came to enjoy the place one last time. The food was good as usual and the desserts super yummy. We even took home their signature Monkey Bread. There are 2 more locations further away but this one will be sorely missed. Went to Datz for Tampa Burger Week. Tried two burgers, the Albuquerque and Andy's Grilled Cheese Burger. The grilled cheese burger was amazing. The Albuquerque dissapointed. The only thing in the burger that gives it it's name are the hatch chili's and they put so little of it in the sandwich that you can not taste them at all. Indoor, outdoor and bar dining available. They have takeout, curbside and dine-in. The breakfast menu looks promising as do many of the dishes on the menu. Highly recommend!! Just don't order the Albuquerque.

So sad to hear they're closing down, the baked goods are divine!

Our service was great but I made the mistake of ordering the pasta carbonara. It was so nasty and super oily. My stomach is so upset. I couldn’t finish it and I almost threw up in the bathroom.

Datz atmosphere is nice downstairs. However, you can tell the restaurant is closing down soon. There was no seasoning on the chicken and waffles. The rest of our tables' food was okay. The bathroom needed repairs and was dirty. I think this restaurant was nice in the past but now it's just average.

Kid friendly, great brunch options and just very unique but delicious menu items. Fun cocktails too.

This place was great. Went here for brunch with friends and was was the perfect place to catch up. Be aware though the portions are giant. You are definitely getting your money's worth here. The waitress was phenomenal and attentive without hoovering.

We always make it a point to visit DATZ when we visit the Tampa area the food environment and service is all top notch. This time we brought our kids who gave it a 10/10 too! We had Caroline last night as our server she went above and beyond to get us to go drinks and silverware as we're in an Airbnb, love this place wish we had one back home!

Food was undercooked.... Like how do you mess up grits?.. and fried chicken?... Close the place and leave the bakery. The bakery is the only good thing.

Hard to make a decision when everything looks delicious! I went with The Cheesy Todd which is a cheeseburger with mac and cheese buns. I would recommend trying this!!! You will be glad you did! The prices were really reasonable for the quality of the food. The portions are also huge! Don’t forget to stop by Dough next door after to take home some dessert!

Stopped here on our way to Indian Rocks Beach. We had the XXX grilled cheese with homemade chips, the Kentucky Colonel chicken bowl and 2 orders of eggs barbacoa. Everything was excellent and our server Elizabeth was incredible and very attentive

Fix up the lady's bathroom! Yuck!!

Would be more like 3.5. The server and ambience was really pretty and there is a cute outdoor area. Ordered the cheese grits and burnt ends. The grits were tasty and the beef was okay but seemed like it was cubed beef than actual burnt ends. My sis let me try her chicken and waffles and the waffles were good but it seems like seasoning was completely skipped on the chicken.

Been coming here for years and enjoy it. But the cleanliness of the dining room is going downhill and they have to do something about the bathroom ASAP.

So I ordered biscuits with sausage gravy, two eggs, and tri colored potatoes. The gray came out with green onions on it! Uhm..... I've eaten a lot of biscuits with sausage gravy from many places, I've never seen onions on it. The menu did not mention the onions either. I picked them off and asked for a side of the gravy. I was ok picking them off but the food was barely warm before I even started picking the onions off. The side of gravy was the same. You could literally dip your finger in the gravy which I did because I didn't think it was that cold but it was. Tri colored potatoes were weird and also luke warm. I'm not sure they were all potatoes. If they were then some were under cooked. Finally the upstairs bathroom toilet was not good. It was dirty and very hard to flush. The prices was average for the area. My wife had the Chicken and Waffles Benedict and said it was good and it was hot. So she would probably give the place 4+. I personally will not be back. First impression are everything.

First time here and I loved it 😍

Food was great and portion was more than enough.

I was treated to a business breakfast with my peers. I have to say, the food and service here were outstanding, and I'm not saying that simply because it was free. In fact, I was paid to be there. In all seriousness, I wish I had gotten our servers name. She was the sweetest person, unbelievably attentive, and incredibly focused on ensuring our needs were met. I personally ordered the country fried steak. This was by far the BEST country fried steak I've ever tasted, and I ALWAYS order country fried steak when going out for breakfast. I've had "Mom and Pop" style, franchises, home cooked, and even frozen from the supermarket! Datz definitely did, Dat! My peers also enjoyed their meal as all I could hear was the delightful silence that's met when dinner is served. It was my first time there, and it certainly will not be my last!

I love the food, but we were deeply disappointed yesterday. There was a 45 minute wait for a table, which is understandable. We decided to place our order to go so that I could take my medicine on time. FIFTY 50 minutes later, we finally had our food!!!!!!

I know the last few years were unfairly tough on restaurants but I really miss the pre-covid Datz...

I’ve been very excited to try this place and we were able to stop in for breakfast the other day. Unfortunately they were out of the ingredients for one of the dishes we wanted to order (would be good to share this right away instead of as we are trying to order it) but we did enjoy the other entrees! The chicken and donut was delicious- the donut itself was so good and the chicken was cooked nicely. I also enjoyed the red velvet pancakes. I’m excited to come back and try more things off the menu.

This location was in a rough spot to say the least. Sauces and crumbs on the floor right next to our booth, and nobody really batted an eye. There was a very unpleasant scent in the air as well, but we couldn’t tell what or where it was coming from. Made me hesitant to try to the food. Wings came out and were coated in a decent sauce. Was expecting crushed peanuts on the wings but it looked like someone had thrown peanuts on the dish and missed all the wings. The cuban sandwich, while not the best in Tampa is definitely a must try. Good portions, crispy warm bread and the meats and saucers balanced beautifully. Loved it, was different from the norm Cuban but in a good way. Tried some of my friends Steak Frites fries and those were good too. Not as good as the Cuban though. Overall the place looked like it needed a lot of love and care, from the actual restaurant to the food being dished out. I wouldn’t return again, but I’m rooting for them to prove me wrong.

Datz has been a Tampa staple for quite some time. Though they suffered immensely during COVID (who didn't), they've made a close return to form over the last year. Still not what it used to be, but overall a very good spot. Food is great, portions are good, and drinks are decent. Service is hit and miss, but never outright bad. Definitely worth a try on your visit. Memphis on My Mind and the Waffles & Tweet are fan favorites for a reason!

First if you look at my reviews there are all pretty positive.. that being said.... Our server last weekend was a thin mixed really young lady. We got no drinks until after food.came and we had to ask twice. She didn't write down our order so we didn't get our salad which was an appetizer until after our food came. The meat loaf was cold in the middle. The burger was bland!! The chili was good. I still gave her a $7 tip on $40 only because I hate not tipping. What annoyed me.the most was all the staf standing around taking, even the manager in the pink shirt. We had to ask to even get our table cleane. I definitely won't be back and you can bet "Datz" Super disappointed!

Hadn't been in quite awhile and did today and disappointed. Dats used to be great, today service horrible, food not so great, place even looked dirty, nothing like was before at all. Do not recommend Dats anymore.

As an avid foodie, this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I will say that the atmosphere is nice but that’s not all a patron should pay for. Based on prior reviews I expected the food to wow me and it did the opposite. As you can see in the photos my donut was not fluffy/moist/or sugary. The chicken was warm but that’s about all. I expected my waitress to address this issue but she did not. I would never allow a customer to leave a restaurant with a full plate of food. That should have been an indication that the food was inedible or not satisfactory. Today was my first visit but will also be my last.

After hearing people rave about this iconic landmark, I decided to go and have lunch. It was a Friday afternoon around 3. A total of 7 people in the restaurant and it still took 15 minutes to get a menu, 20 minutes to order and 45 minutes to get drinks and food. To much time spent here with unfriendly staff and awful cold,overpriced food. Nothing less than 1 star, unfortunately, because I could have spent my time and money elsewhere.

Doubtful to go back. Hostess was rude, pickup order was not ready, then was informed 2 items were unavailable. Not a pleasant pickup experience.

It's a good sign if you eat at a place twice in one day. Enjoyed the Bob's Cobb salad at lunch, but I really wanted to try the Cheesy Todd while in town. When previous dinner plans fell through I found myself back at Datz, bellied up to the bar enjoying a cheeseburger with fried mac'n cheese for a bun...what's not to love!?!? Great staff; reasonably priced; definitely recommend - 10/10.

I decided to grab dinner here after work. The atmosphere was incredibly friendly and welcoming. However, I was quite disappointed with the burger I ordered—it was rather underwhelming and reminiscent of a Dave's Double from Wendy's. Even the chips served alongside, topped with bleu cheese, didn't manage to win me over. The service I received was adequate, although I did notice that some people had to wait an unusually long time at the front door to be seated. Considering the numerous superior dining options available in Tampa, I would recommend exploring those instead.
