Great experience. The ahi tuna appetizer was the best we've ever had. Got chicken brushetta and it was very good. Brother got the chicken Parm, also good. Portions are huge, server was delightful, the place is clean and well-managed.

Most of the entrées and appetizers I have ordered from here have been great and very filling. A few times it's been mediocre but that's understandable when they are swamped with a full house of customers. On the occasion they aren't insanely busy their food is amazing. Raspberry cheesecake is the best I've tried around,also their blackened ahi tuna is full of flavor. Their entree osso bucco is mouthwatering and falls off the bone,so good!

Donovans is one of my favorite local restaurants. I would absolutely drive there any day for the parmesan truffle fries. Hands down best fancy fries in the tricounty area. Their Entrees are delicious and unique but lately I've been obsessed with their breaded chicken sandwich. I highly recommend trying it with their smoky bbq aioli. Make a reservation. They're always busy.

Great restaurant in Malone. Thanks for taking us right after closing time after a long day of driving. Yummy Brussels appetizer & delicious salmon entree. Hubby had the steak frites which were perfectly grilled at med rare! Super friendly attentive service & wonderful food - WIN, WIN!

One of the worste cuts of delmonico ever served to me at any establishment. It was way too fatty and undercooked to my request of medium rare. Service was very nice and pleasant. Atmosphere is dull and bland.

Best place for miles around. Greek salad with fried Hallumi Cheese was superb. Pleasant service, easy parking. Shhh, don't tell them but I think they have forgotten to raise their prices for the past few years.

Loved it each time with exception of appearance and serving of food at recent event. I personally didnt care for the shrimp, chicken (skin and bone in it), and beef pushed into the mashed potato in a heap together then covered with the gravy. Dismissed the entire meal for anybody not liking or having food sensitivities to any particular part of the meal.(But i know.... Ive always had a "thing" about certain foods touching other foods). Space per taste! The establishment, the staff, the people, the atmosphere absolutely wonderful! Highly recommend to anyone looking.

Good food, good atmosphere, good staff. Prices are a little high without being exorbitant, but are appropriate for the higher end market they seem to be aiming for. A must visit. Y'all gotta learn how to cook french fries better though.

My king prime rib and mashed potatoes were served luke warm to cool obvious when the butter didn’t melt on the potatoes. I think they placed the food on a cold platter which in turn turned everything cold. HEAT THE DAMN PLATE or just keep the plates warm before placing food on it. I believe in second chances so “Ill be bock”.

I came to Donovans today for my birthday dinner, I ordered the 16 oz prime rib and my wife ordered the flat iron steak, we also ordered the crab cakes starter, the crab cakes lacked any sort of texture and just straight up tasted bad. The steaks came out and the prime rib had no seasoning and no sear at all. My wife's steak also like wise had no seasoning and was burned to a crisp ( ordered mid well). The server we had looked to be the only server on the clock and was running her tail off. I definitely won't be returning to this restaurant and to any management reading this you shouldn't put all the work on one person if you're that busy with only one server on hand you should be out helping them.

Had an excellent meal here to celebrate my grandfather's 93rd birthday! It truly was one of the best meals I've had in some time! We travelled from Arizona to visit family with our 1 year old and the time change was a challenge for the baby. She was a bit rambunctious and I had to take her outside to run around a couple of times, and our waitress noticed. She made sure to take my and the baby's order first, and even brought our food out early so that we could have something to distract her while we enjoyed our meal. Super thoughtful service that you don't always get in the big city. If we lived in the area we would struggle to not come in every day - the food was THAT good!

Donovan's was chosen by our local friends to host our special evening visiting Malone. FANTASTIC! We enjoyed our appetizers and entrees in the dining room, then finished with a nightcap in the bar with Heather the bartender. Such an EXCELLENT time. Highly recommended!

Phenomenal dinner atmosphere. Decently priced as well. We had some delicious Fried Mozzarella and French Onion Soup for appetizers. We ordered the Flat Iron steak and Delmonico for entrees. Excellent service from our server Ashley. I recommend this place.

Excellent service, excellent food. We got rained out at the meacham lake campground so decided on a whim to go to dinner. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. Filet mignon was amazing and the husband had delmonico which he loved as well. The price rating was based on purchasing alcohol with dinner.

I don’t often get to Donovan’s and I don’t really have a good reason. It can be a little pricey for some items. This trip I had the Pork Osso Bucco which was fabulous. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The crispy fried onions were fantastic as was the mash potatoes and green beans. Easily, one the best meals available locally.

The food and service is always top notch. Seating is not over crowded and I don't remember ever leaving there hungry like some other restaurants. They have a good size beer and wine menu, bar area, and also an outdoor eating area.

I attended a rehearsal dinner here and their food is delicious! I ate there seafood pasta and all of the seafood was cooked to perfection! My husband had the prime rib and it was perfectly prepared medium rare. The staff was very friendly and efficient.

The food here is outrageous. Steak melts in it mouth and it is seasoned perfectly. The bruschetta is out of this world. The staff is attentive and friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting; with a cozy atmosphere. And considering the cost of beef now a days reasonably priced.

Excellent food, super friendly staff, family owned. Service can be a touch slow at times but completely worth it for the food and atmosphere. Large draft list and good wine, plus a patio out back! Worth the drive from Potsdam, I make sure to go everytime we're in the area

Another great dining experience at Donovan's Steak & Ale! A full house and service was outstanding. I get the same thing, Filet and Buff Shrimp, because it's great every single time! Very affordable. I look forward to my next visit.

A diamond in the rough, there are a paucity of great eating establishments in the area but Donovan simply shines and everyone knows it. Come here if you want a quality filet mingnon, good ambience, and professional service.

Went on Valentines day expecting it to be crowded and slow. Neither was true. It was busy but tables are nicely spaced so no over crowding. I had a Stuffed Veal chop and it was amazing. My cocktail was also good as was the visit with the bartender after dinner.

Place was very busy, understaffed, ice cold in the establishment, food was served cold.

I've written great reviews of Donovan's in the past but I continuously impressed with the place. Hands down my favorite restaurant in the North Country. Service is spot on, the food is amazing, and the owners are awesome. I would rate higher than five stars if able.

This was the first time my husband and I have been to Donovan's. We had such an amazing meal FOR 👏 AN 👏 AMAZING 👏 PRICE 👏 fine dining. A great selection of beer and wine! We were seating quicky and served just as fast! Our hostess was phanimonal and all the staff was great. 10/10 would recommend

Underwhelmed. 11/18/22 We had make reservations for 4:30 pm because the restaurant claimed they were overbooked at 6pm. Our party of 4 stayed 2 hours and there was no mad rush of patrons coming in at 6pm. This place came at mega recommendations. The menu is very basic. We had hamburgers, shredded pork nachos, and chicken parm. We were not impressed in the creativity of the meals. No steak list or ale list was offed to us. The bathroom was dirty and the staff seemed very disinterested. Great parking and easy to access from main road.

Well, that was an absolutely fantastic meal and great service. The atmosphere was great and sitting in the bar allowed us to take in the stunningly large tap collection...the duck and the canoe were the best. The food was amazing and I hear the chicken sandwich deserves an award.

We have made it a tradition to go here for our birthday dinners, and they never fail to wow us. The food is top notch, the waitstaff is quick and on point, and the bartender is a a great pour and a quick wit. Yum!!

Our group of guys go here every year when we are in town on our annual golf trip. Food and service are always excellent. This year with Sierra as our server was no exception. Our evening at Donovan’s is always a highlight of our trip.

Very disappointing. Planning a special dinner and expecting great food from a solid establishment. Prime rib was absolutely tasteless. Lobster was over cooked rubber and tasteless as well. I know it’s a small town but come on….. Never again will make that mistake. Establishment did reach out to follow up with this so they really do care.

Best bar and dine in atmosphere in the town of Malone. From awesome pub type bar, to quite romantic tables this places kills it. Best date night spot in Malone.

Southwest chicken salad was great. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked, and the veggies were fresh and tasty. The dressing was perfect.

Not really that sure about the food as I have NOT been able to make it there. It seems as if they are always closed.

The only reason I'm giving this 2 and not 1 star is because of the excellent service that my wife and I experienced where the waitress was attentive and helpful However, the food was terrible for lack of a better term. My wife ordered the Chicken Lagray which was supposed to be pasta tossed in a sauce according to the description. Needless to say it was not 'tossed', it was soaked and marinated and so the dish looked extremely unappetizing - like soup with chunks of chicken and pasta floating around in it. I ordered the prime rib because I couldn't get a simple steak. Despite the name of the restaurant, there only two cuts - Delmonico and Filet Mignon both of which have some glaze/sauce and other add-ons tossed on them. The prime rib was passable at best and the vegetables it came with was soggy so I didn't even touch it. Finally, we ordered bruschetta for an appetizer, what we received was clearly NOT what bruschetta looks or tastes like. Bruschetta is a light antipasto meant to tickle your palate, not a giant wedge of bread with a slab of mozzarella melted over huge chunks of tomato. Yikes! After this dinner, my wife felt nauseous on our drive back home. This was the first and will be the last time I'll be visiting here.

Excellent atmosphere, customer service and superb food.

The 2nd time we visited Donovan's the meal was better than the first time .. truly excellent. Try the maple vinaigrette for a great salad. The service was quick without making us feel rushed and the service was great. From the person taking our reservations, to the appetizer, to paying our bill it was enjoyable. A 3rd visit is on the calendar.

Steaks are so small! What they serve is not a real Delmonico, It's more like a smaller regular ribeye. I shouldn't enjoy my fries more than my $27 steak.

Loved this place! The food is great and people are really nice. You HAVE to make reservations. It gets pretty busy there. The servers are excellent (and swamped). The menu has a good mix of meat and seafood. Had the Salmon once and then went back again for Salmon with Couscous. Loved it both times. Ambiance : 5/5 Cost: $$ (it is on a little higher side but worth the money) Portion: 5/5 Defiantly recommended!

First time visiting your restaurant as we are from out of town. My daughters and I were looking for a nice place to enjoy on our last night in Malone. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. The food was INCREDIBLE and the prices were VERY REASONABLE for the quality of food. Our waitress was OUTSTANDING but what really stood out were the OWNERS who mingled about the place, joshing with some patrons, while sincerely talking with others. Not a lot of owners these days seem to mingle in with the diners, but there they were tonight. We will DEFINITELY be back again next year when we make our annual trip from western New York to Malone. THANK YOU DONOVANS!! 😁

Wow!!! Thisnwas my first visit and the fiid was top notch!!! I got the steak salad which was too big for one meal and my husband got the surf and turf. We will definitely be back soon!!!!
