I went to get food here with some friends. We went to order at the window, and then a server told us we could sit down at a table and a server would come around to take our order. A server came a few moments later and we ordered, and I asked to use the bathroom. She told me that they do not have a bathroom, and got halfway through saying "because we're not a sit down place", stopping before the word "down" (we were clearly sitting down and getting our order taken by a server...) and changing to "because we don't serve food on premises." She then suggested I go across the street to Subway and buy a cookie or something so I could use their bathroom. Ma'am, I'm already eating dinner HERE. I was pretty annoyed. Anyway, our food came and I got the lamb and hummus plate and my friends got other plates. The food was very good, so I still recommend you go here if you are getting carry out or delivery. Anyway, I was annoyed throughout dinner and I'm so sorry if I was rude to the servers. I was very annoyed I couldn't pee here and that it was suggested I go buy additional items elsewhere to pee. Regardless, the servers didn't make that policy so it was unfair to act annoyed toward them. I decided to stir the pot a little because if they don't serve on premises, then I must be seated on a public sidewalk and I can smoke a cigarette. Another employee came over and told me to put my cigarette out. And so I asked if I was on their premises. She didn't answer and just kept repeating to put my cigarette out, and I kept repeating my question, asking whether I was on their premises or a public sidewalk. She finally told me, they have a permit and you are not allowed to smoke (I looked this up later, and it is true, L.A. Al Fresco permits disallow smoking within 10 feet of the permitted area but, okay, just say that in the first place instead of ignoring my question). Then she got in my face and said "YOU ARE SO GROSS". I won't even comment on that one. Although I was clearly annoyed with the policy of the restaurant and complained about it, I did not personally attack or insult the staff in any way. Anyway, she had asked me to leave and we were done eating and I had boxed up my leftovers, so we left. I asked the server her name, which I think was Leslie but may have been Laurel or something like that. Based on the information I have found online, any business that serves food or coffee is required to have a bathroom for customers under ADA. It seems weird to insist that they "don't serve food on premises" while seating people at tables under umbrellas clearly marked "Dune", having servers operating and taking orders at the tables, and since they have the authority to ask people to leave. If you can make me leave, I'm on your premises, since I can't be made to leave a public sidewalk. It's just unreasonable to serve a sit down dinner with no bathrooms for customers. The options are either drive 30 minutes (or whatever) in traffic to see a friend for dinner, sit through dinner unable to enjoy it due to the urge to pee, then drive home in traffic, with a full bladder, or make an auxillary purchase of something I don't even want so I can use another business's bathroom.

Falafel was very burnt & Dune needs to change there oil….this was completely unacceptable!

We absolutely love the food, and bring friends and family here often for lunch. Usually get the fried chicken plate. Always consistently delicious. Parking in front is always limited but we park in the neighborhood behind and walk quite far. You order at the window and usually service is decent and quick. However, the last time we had lunch, we were treated very rudely by one of the staff members for asking for a to-go box. Lately the tables have been filled and there’s been a small wait for them. We usually have to clean up after people that leave all their dishes and trash on the tables so fyi - there is a bin in the middle of patio area for you to put your dishes and a trash can for waste, along with a self service water dispenser. Highly recommend Dune for flavorful, fresh, healthy, and huge portions.

Average food, annoying crowd and service. Clueless hipsters overpaying for average product, as is their wont. The proprietors at Sepan Chicken three blocks away must be so frustrated that their product is much better and cheaper, yet the oddly bearded privileged smugsters have no clue what they are missing

A delightful Sunday bunch place after visiting the farmers market across the street. I love the hummus & fried chicken plate I ordered. You order food at the window , then find a seat, don’t forget to clean your table once you are done. Layback chilling LA vibe with amazing food. Highly recommended. Parking could be challenging since it is a popular neighborhood for brunch.

Wow! The flavors were amazing. I got the lamb sandwich, and I was floored by how good it was. The flavor profile worked so well with each other. It’s a little bit saucy, so it was a bit messy— be careful of that. But because it was so tasty, I didn’t mind. Outdoor seating only. Cute area to sit though.

Delicious Mediterranean food. We always get the hummus + chicken plate and the hummus + lamb plate. Always a great treat. Love the bold and complimentary flavors of their plates. The outdoor seating is also a nice change of scenery.

I apologized not a great pic. I took it in the middle of eating. I forgot to take one before cuz it looked pretty delicious. Fried shawarma chicken was awesome. Drink, Rosemary lemonade, was okay. I cannot rate service because it’s almost like takeout style. It’s little hard to find parking in front of the street. But It’s your choice if you want to wait around or not. I think it’s best to find a parking around neighborhood. I’ll come back again soon!

The turkish tea is the best/such a treat! Grilled chicken is fantastic- perfectly cooked and flavor-packed! Hummus is lovely- texture and flavor are ::chef's kiss:: Falafel is also perfect- delicious and never dry!

I love a good, green, herb-filled falafel and this one was absolutely delicious. I found this place on a list of the best falafel in LA and it didn't disappoint. We also tried the fried chicken and it was such an interesting take! We loved it. There was nothing on the place I didn't like. The hummus was great, the salads and rice were good, there were pickled turnips (my favorite), a slightly spicy pickled pepper and some black olives. Just an overall fantastic plate. We got a look at the fries and they looked solid - need to get some next time.

The chicken and pita were burnt and very dry. The chicken was hard to cut and chew due to the toughness from overcooking. Greens were ok but the hummus was a bit bland. Overall not worth the wait and price.

Food is good however extremely cheap move on the establishment’s end when customer ask for drinks with no ice, just fill it up all the way. Don’t leave that extra space because of no ice. Saving pennies mentality with a $5 drink charge. When I asked to fill the drink up, the waitress said “we don’t replace ice with extra drink” I am not asking for extra drink here, simply for the drink I had ordered to be filled up and not made half way. Not trying to get extra drink here just didn’t want it cold. I guess the economy is hard. Even harder for you guys with this mentality.

The beet sandwich is hands down the best sandwich I've ever had. Find myself craving it regularly and it's become a staple after long runs at Griffith. Their rosemary lemonade is also delicious- not too sweet, with the perfect balance of rosemary and tartness.

I ate the organic green falafel sandwich. It was excellent. We waited for our food, found a table in the patio area. It was worth waiting. We all liked our food very much, even the picky eater! I would defined eat here again and I recommend it.

A real asset to Atwater. Love the plates and the garlic sauce.

I order the brisket sandwich, and my wife got the crispy chicken sandwich, both were excellent, the combination of the pickled slaw and tzasiki and the sliced brisket... so delicious. Definitely coming back!

I had a lamb n hummus platter. Tasty but I cannot justify paying almost $40 for the 3 super tiny bite size lamb portions.

I can confirm, as a Southern lady, Dune has the best fried chicken I've had in Los Angeles! Omg the chicken!!!!!! The hummus and lamb sandwich were also shining stars. Also enjoyed the dude playing music.

10/10 recommend. So flavorful and delicious. It’s always busy and for good reason. My friend who joined me is vegetarian and said the falafel was to die for. My grilled chicken plate was perfect and the portions are great. Two meals in one!

Seriously delicious and reasonably priced spot in Atwater with a window and outdoor seating only. The quality and quantity of food was excellent for the price. It’s hard to actually feel full with healthy food that’s actually delicious for under $20 these days. I subbed cucumber for pita bread for a gluten free option with the hummus and it was surprisingly filling. Highly recommend.

super fresh made-to-order food. it's a small place, with only a few counter seats, but there are public tables right outside. the lamb sandwich or the lamb and hummus plate are my go-to. the flatbread is super good, and always comes right off the grill.

The quality of food has really gone downhill. I understand using organic ingredients, but the wilted old greens and very old discolored mild peppers just doesn’t cut it for me. The side of pita bread was burnt, cold and tough to eat. Also there’s a side of cabbage that was old and brown…please check the quality of your ingredients. It sucks paying for very old food. I would’ve returned the meal if I didn’t live so far.

Dune nails it! The fried chicken at Dune reeled me in on night one. Those chicken thighs and fries? Let's just say they're a duo worth celebrating. With a diverse menu, it's like a party in your mouth for everyone in your crew. Props to my partner for discovering Dune and bringing me into the fold. From the delectable hummus to the freshly fried fries and those generous plates loaded with salad goodies – it's a culinary delight deserving of a solid 5 stars. I had one of the lamb plates with the rosemary lemonade. Loved it. Excellent. Good atmosphere. On the other hand, I am sad that they do not honor Frank Herbert’s epic Dune by wearing stillsuits or something that representatives of the Spacing Guild or Bene Gesserit would wear. As a sci fi nerd, I am disappointed.

Loved this place! The Meze Plate was amazing. There was a good variety of side pickles/vegetables/sauce/dips. The presentation was also fantastic. Definitely try the fried chicken here too! Outdoor seating in a cute little area, but can get a tad crowded during meal times. Absolutely will be back!

Food is ok. Nothing to complain about but also nothing to rave about. We got the chicken wrap and the fried chicken and hummus. Both had good flavor and were good on their own but just not really worth the time. The fried chicken was definitely not fried chicken it was a grilled chicken.

they charged me 6$ for a small side of pickled onions!!!! Which i ordered because there were negligible greens in my chicken sandwich. i love the food but seems like they lose their soul to money more n more each day!

Very pretty. Not a sandwich. I went with tear and grab as my method for getting food in my mouth but it was a struggle. Labneh was good. Hummus plate and falafel sandwich not amazing but falafel was pretty moist. Self service. Not terrible not amazing only reviewing cause it’s in no way one money sign

Surprisingly one of the best fried chicken in the city. Also their baklava is insane. Great choice of home made iced teas. This location with the little terrace is my favorite. Easy to park everywhere. Can’t recommend it more!

I get super excited coming here I kinda make it a treat. I get the hummus / falafel plate and it's gorgeous. Around $17 but it's honestly so worth it! Falafel is stellar. Friendly staff and nice outdoor environment in front.

An interesting take on traditional middle eastern street fair. Fried, breaded, chicken shawarma is decent but not earth shattering. Nice spot in a pinch but there are MUCH better choices within a 10 mins drive.

My goodness, these humans know Mediterranean food. I've both been inside here physically as well as ordered online. Authentic Mediterranean food with some modern/American flavors. I can't get enough of their bowls. Not usually a chickpea fan, unless it's turned into hummus, but I never mind whenever Dunes include it inside my bowl. Super friendly humans work here, please tip if you can. It's in the middle of Atwater Village....plenty of street/neighborhood free parking.

5 star Mediterranean food. We tried the grilled chicken plate, the fried chicken plate, and the falafel sandwich. All 3 were great! We took it to go since parking was a bit difficult.

I ordered the Chicken Shawarma. The chicken is deep fried- kfc style. The bread wrap is thicker than an arepa. This place is not Mediterranean. Friendly staff.

For Dune (which I was excited to go to because of the name and my love of the movie, although I haven’t read the book) you can park at either a meter in Glendale Blvd or a few blocks away in the neighborhood. They’ll likely have a line if you go around lunch, but the line moves quickly. If you’re getting it for here, you order at the counter and then you get a number to bring to your table, which is first come, first serve, and all outdoor on their sidewalk patio with individual tables with umbrellas in the center. For a single plate on a Friday, it took 35 minutes, so not the best place to go if you’re in a rush. They do not have restrooms, even for customers, which was disappointing especially with how long you have to wait for your food. The lemonade with fresh mint leaves seems really popular, but when I asked about it she said it had a lot of sugar so I decided to pass. It would be cool if they had a no sugar added option! The lamb on the lamb plate ($18) is described as like a burger patty. While they don’t do substitutions, they can remove things if you have an allergy. For example, they removed the yogurt for me since I can’t have cow dairy. If you’re gluten free, they can swap out the flat bread for cucumbers. I feel like I didn’t know the best way of eating this and I made the mistake of mixing it all together. DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL YOU TRY EVERYTHING INDIVIDUALLY. I disliked the red onions and pickled items (there were way too many onions) and it ruined the entire dish for me. Heads up, the olives still have the pits. It seems like the sandwiches and fries make for a better experience.

This food slaps! 👏 I got the Meze plate (lamb and falafel). It had a wide range of flavors from mild to tangy to spicy to savory. It felt like I was painting! 🎨 It was super clean, fresh, and filling!! The lamb was the perfect amount of salty, the pita bread was grilled and worked as an excellent delivery system for their hummus which was also very delicious and the ideal consistency (not too thick, not too runny). The baklava was phenomenal. It was so clean I feel like it didn’t couldn’t as dessert. It was flaky and crispy. Every bite had me wanting another. There was a touch of cinnamon on it rounding out the salty and sweet with a little bit of spice!💥🙌 I had a Morrocan mint tea (no ice) which was a great complement for the meal as it was refreshing and light 😌 I came at night and the only cons were that there was no music playing but it did have a quaint, yet casual atmosphere despite the only noise being conversations from other tables. That and the prices seemed high but for the occasional night out it’s totally worth it (and this is LA so maybe it’s par for the course on pricing 🤷🏻‍♂️). The food was real good! I need to come back here soon, no excuses 😤

A pit pricey, but you won’t be disappointed. This is one of our go-to spots when we want to treat ourselves to some amazing quality Mediterranean food that’s both satisfying and not super unhealthy. And I love their little patio setup outside the restaurant.

I would estimate that I have eaten here about 30 times and it has never been anything short of delicious. I liked it more when they had the cute indoor dining area, but COVID has killed many great things and the outdoor only hasn't affected the quality of the food at all. The prices may seem high, but you get an INSANE amount of food for the money. Basically everything here is great, and they are super accommodating of gluten free/celiac diners (I sometimes ask for the cucumber slices instead of the pita just to make it a bit healthier even thought I eat gluten). Fried chicken plate is my slight favorite but I've tried every single menu item and they're all great.

We ordered falafels, hummus and lamb plate, side of feta. The side of Feta was great. We weren't sure what was worse among the rest.

As an Israeli, this place is pretty much as bad as it gets and is giving a bad name to the Mediterranean food. Supermarket Hummus, burned on the outside and frozen on the inside falafel, and flatbread instead of pita bread with hummus is just sad. Don’t get your hopes up, especially if you’ve tried real hummus and falafel.

LOVE Dune!! Their food is next level! I always order the fried chicken and it’s so flavorful, perfectly cooked, and come with all the best sides. I always feel so satisfied. Definitely order sides of the sauces you want to try (i love the garlic sauce and turmeric yogurt). My go-to spot when I’m in Atwater. Plus their sidewalk patio out front is so lovely!

I just attended an amazing catered at-home luncheon featuring a range of Dune's dishes: felafel, chicken shawarma, hummus, tabouli, pickled veggies, feta, amba, s'rug, freshly-baked pitas, etc. Everything was full-flavored, fresh, and delicious -- the best Middle Eastern food I've eaten in years! I highly recommend it! LA peeps, you are so lucky to have this restaurant in your backyard!

Best falafel I’ve had in a while—dark green inside with a moist, spiced, vegetal interior. Grilled chicken and lamb (like a kotfta) were nice also. Meze plate was a lot of food and could easily feed two. Outside patio area was inviting.

Extremely disappointed the last two times I have ordered from Dune. Today, I ordered the lamb/hummus plate. It comes covered in sauce which would be fine if the meat was actually cooked. The inside was red mush! Unable to cook it thoroughly myself since the restaurant didn't take the time to fully cook it because it's covered in hummus & sauce. I DID place the order online, because nobody answers the phone anymore, and when I attempted to request the meat be cook well done, because last time it was also raw, it states the restaurant doesn't allow you to make a comment when ordering. I didn't just order a plate, but also a side because my 7 year old likes it, however, we were not able to eat the raw meat. I'm also sure 100% that it wouldn't pass a thermometer temperature test before removing raw meat from the grill. Dune, you have to do better! I don't like throwing away $80 for the hell of it!

Went for lunch on a Monday. As we were waiting for our third person to arrive, we sat at one of the tables and salivated at the delicious aromas emanating from Dune. Amazing and delicious. Best falafel sandwich I've had in decades. The tabouli and hummus were just as good. My niece said her Fried Chicken "Shawarma" sandwich was equally as good. Great outdoor dining atmosphere, lots of potted plants and umbrella shades over the tables. Dune is on my must come back repeatedly list.

We really, really enjoyed our meal from this trendy little spot in the heart of Atwater Village. I've never had such captivating Mediterranean food, both in terms of how it tasted and especially how pretty it looked. Portion sizes are very generous as well. This is a walk-up window only, and there is a smattering of sidewalk tables to eat at. We had our food to go and it remained delicious. Highly recommended! Note that it's pretty popular so you may want to order ahead to skip the wait.

Food is amazing and came out pretty quick. Staff are friendly and happy to explain the dishes. Mint lemonade is refreshing on a hot LA day, and the outdoor seating is pretty shaded. Recommend getting the "plates" if you like veggies.

Tasty, innovative and quality food inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine. Dune is definitely the best restaurant in Atwater village and one of the best in LA. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I’ve tried everything in their menu and I can’t recommend this place enough.

Never a disappointment, always a sure fire way too save a day. The staff is super nice when taking phone orders. My order is always correct and delicious. I’d eat here every week if I lived closer. Get an extra side of bread and the yogurt dip. Perfect for breakfast. Love love love it.

OKAY WOW. This place was good. Like, really tasty. Lamb plate for $18 was superb. 100% suggest. There’s clearly a good chef behind the homemade sauces, salad ingredient selection (included fresh dill & basil) and freshly in house made pita. Can’t wait to try the falafel next. Well done, Dune. 👏.
