Traveled from Charleston to visit Lake Jocassee for the first time, and one of the things i found in my research was to rent a boat if you could, or a kayak of some sort to be able to really see the lake. Eclectic Sun was THE PERFECT CHOICE. The staff was INCREDIBLE and amazinly well informed about the area and the sights to see. The price was more than right (6 hours 2 kayaks 112 after booking fees!) They are located inside the park so there was no need to meet somewhere and travel. This was the PERFECT day.

My husband and I took single kayaks out this morning and took our dog with us. It was beautiful, the water was like glass, and the rowing was easy! Eclectic Sun Rentals couldn’t have been any easier or friendlier! They fitted our life jackets, helped us hop in and off we went! We will be back in the Fall for sure! Thanks Eclectic!!

Excellent customer service! Provided with a waterproof phone bag, map, and directions to the waterfalls, we enjoyed a tranquil kayak journey and swam in crystal-clear waters surrounded by picturesque mountains. Definitely will be returning next year.

The staff is very helpful and friendly..they use Perception kayaks, which is a great quality kayak with a comfy seat back… location is wonderful…it’s all natural beauty. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on a lovely section of this lake. The water was warm …we enjoyed the swimming, everything first class … not overly busy as we went early on a Thursday morning…. things were getting busier by 2:00 when we finished. I recommend an early start for more serenity.

We had an awesome time here, the weather was a bit of overcast and we were having a time on deciding on what to do. I had family in town visiting so we still went out on the water the rain held up. Highly recommend if you want an awesome place to kayak. The young folks working there have always been helpful and respectful. Just know if you want to see the big waterfalls it's over 3 miles one way so allow time. But the lake views, the water and the equipment are all awesome. Enjoy it every time we've been and will 100% be back.

From booking to set up and pick up this is the outfit to go with! They were very flexible with weather issues. There were extremely thorough with explaining all their policies and boat procedures. They had a detailed map with directions on how to go all the waterfalls. The boat itself was in perfect condition, large, spotless and perfect for pulling a tube. From the Bluetooth speaker to the sun shade, every detail was perfect. Employees were so pleasant to work with and communication was prompt and clear. Would definitely recommend and use again!

We showed up on a whim and the staff was absolutely amazing. They got us everything we needed for a fantastic day on the water. We will be back here often. Loved them!

We rented kayaks in advance and it was easy to do online. They were easy to find and staff was helpful, courteous and informative. I even forgot nozzle to inflate my paddle board and they loaned me their pump. We look forward to going back!

Kayaking on lake Jocassee is one of my favorite things to do, the view is breathtaking. Eclectic Sun has great staff, very helpful and they put the kayak in the water for you. You can rent single, tandem, canoe or SUP. Conveniently located in Devils Fork State Park, you can enjoy the park and all the amenities for the rest of the day. I would encourage the four hour rental if you plan on making to the waterfalls.

We had a great time canoeing on lake Jocassee with Eclectic Sun. The staff there was so accommodating, friendly, and generous as well. Seriously some of the best people we’ve met in awhile. They were very patient with our large group with kids, and gave us extra time since we were a little late and super slow to get started. They were very helpful too with all questions. The canoes were really nice too- not the aluminum buckets I am used to all my life 😅 We had the BEST time out on the lake and will definitely be booking a canoe or kayak through eclectic sun again!! Thank you guys for the awesome service!

We had the best time paddle boarding along Lake Jocassee. Really enjoyed jumping off the large rock and taking breaks to swim at all the little beaches we discovered on the way to the island, which we didn’t reach, but will try again next time. Definitely coming back again. Staff was super nice and helpful. I highly recommend!

Great Company! Called ahead because we were running late and they gave us instructions in case the park is closed/full. Which is a thing apparently!! Had a great time on the lake. Everyone was super helpful. Only thing I would request is a map of the lake. Difficult to find waterfalls without one. They have one printed on their form but that form stays with person who handles the gear. Rental included dry bag for phone! Gorgeous views!

Smooth and fast check in and drop off. Friendly staff. Canoe, paddles and PFDs were in great shape.

I'm going to give this 2 stars... because although the customer service was there, we had a really really crappy day. *disclaimer - the experience could have been 5 stars, but we wouldn't know because we didn't even get there. we drove an hour from Simpsonville based on a recommendation of a popular kids website. It was 4th of July so we knew it would be crazy. we waited about 45 minutes in line to get into the park. When we pulled up to the park ranger, he said because we only had one reservation, there was only one parking spot (we have 5 kids plus 2 adults so we have to take 2 cars) for us. (If I was giving reviews for attitude his would have been 0 stars) . I called Debbie, the owner and she said no, you should be ok. well, the park ranger would not let us in. so Debbie said she would give me a call back after she spoke with him. after 20 mins of waiting and no phone call (although maybe no fault of their own - I did have bad service) we decided to leave. It was so disappointing and so sad because the kids are growing up - there are only so many holidays left. the only reason i gave this 2 stars is because Debbie, the owner, really tried to make things right for us. she held a parking spot for us - we needed 2. but she did try. overall, I will not return. not necessarily because of the establishment, but because of location. the park is an absolute nightmare to get into. definitely arrive early. and for future reference , don't make the same mistake I did. if you need more than one parking spot, make more than one reservation. hope your trip goes better than mine!

Called to ask about availability for a boat rental and the guy that answered the phone must have been having a rough day. Was short, curt, and had that southern boy attitude that they love to give to northern fellas. Guess they are still salty all these years later that they got their rear ends whooped. He proceeded to call me back two different times because he didn’t like the fact that I didn’t have time for poor customer service.

I have used this place twice now for kayak rentals, the pricing and the staff seem reasonable. Being right on the water is a plus and the equipment was in decent shape. Would use again for future trips.

This was our second experience renting from Eclectic Sun, first was a pontoon boat in 2023 and this trip we chose a canoe. The staff is amazing, they are friendly, helpful and so nice. Lake Jocassee is BREATHTAKING! Any time we plan a trip close to Jocassee, we will rent from Eclectic Sun!

Do yourself a favor and book at least four hours on a kayak or paddleboard at Eclectic Sun for a day out on the prettiest lake in SC (or really anywhere on the East Coast!). Not only is the lake incredibly beautiful but the staff at Eclectic Sun make the process of renting their equipment seamless and easy. You literally walk up, sign your waiver, get your paddle and life jacket, and get on your kayak or paddleboard, which is waiting for you in the water. It's so easy and the equipment is clean and well taken care of. I've rented from them several times and it's always a fantastic experience and a day well spent!

Both Gary and Shane made both our pontoon rental days effortless and enjoyable. Both gentleman went over the renting procedure thoroughly and gave wonderful reference points on Devil’s Fork State Park at Lake Jocassee as far as waterfalls and swimming holes. We rented from Eclectic Sun for three days and they were awesome, every time. I would highly recommend them! Shane was particularly kind and helpful but all of the staff were awesome too.

I have rented from them several times over the past few years. They always seem organized and I have never had any problems.

My husband and I wanted to go somewhere away from the hussel and bussle of life and this is where we chose! It didn't disappoint! And the staff was very welcoming! We will be back. Oh let's not forget the views!!!

We went on Saturday, and everyone that was working was SO helpful. My husband and I kayaked (I highly recommend), and it was absolutely beautiful. We did the 8hr rental! We both grew up in the area, but it’s been awhile since we’ve been able to revisit the lake. It’s by far our favorite lake. The views are breathtaking and the water is crystal clear. They keep the park clean. I will say, if you want to experience this beauty, you’ve got to get here early. They limit the amount of people, which I love because it doesn’t get overcrowded. Thank you Eclectic Sun for making our experience so easy and simple, from the booking process to the time we returned the kayak! We’ll definitely be back!!

Our experience started out with a great conversation with Debbie to schedule a pontoon boat, she was informed and very friendly. When we arrived at the park our boat was ready and waiting. Gary and Shane helped us load the boat, supplies all necessary information regarding the boat and the lake. They showed us the map and gave us good suggestions since we had 2 children with us. When we returned they were waiting at the dock and took us back to our cars. It is great because we had reserved parking spots it was less stressful. The boat was immaculate. We had an experienced boat driver with us which was extremely helpful! It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We can’t wait to do it again. We can’t thank y’all enough for a wonderful experience!

Affordable fun, informative staff, beautiful lake!!

We’ve used Eclectic Sun 4 times now- and each time, we’ve been given excellent service- I have 4 children, and they’ve carried paddles, taken pictures, and helped us load/unload the little people. Items like water safe bags for a phone and life vests come standard. It’s an excellent service on a beautiful lake.

They were helpful, and the equipment got us out and back safely. We only did the two hour rental, but still enjoyed our time and saw some beautiful sights. Not sure my upper body muscles could've done four hours.

Great fun! Waterfall isn’t 45 minutes away though. We are amateurs but We kayaked 4 hours to get to the waterfall and back.

Eclectic Sun does a great job with boat rentals on Jocassee. They are super organized and have a huge selection. Carrie, the manager, really knows how to help her customers!

I’ve been coming to Lake Jocassee and renting from Eclectic Sun for many years now, and have always loved how easy it is to rent kayaks and paddle boards with them! Being able to pre-book and pre-pay in advance is a lifesaver as I am driving at a distance to visit the park, and their process is streamlined to get you out on the water quickly and safely. I hope to return for many years to come!

Right next to the water and the set you up with gear. Very friendly staff warned us about parking and thankfully wasn't full but we were 30 min late and they helped us. Awesome service.

I highly recommend Eclectic Sun for kayak rentals. The staff was fantastic. I arrived late but they went out of their way to accommodate me and my daughter. The lake is beautiful and not a lot of boat activity so it felt safe. The water is clear.

We come every year and rent kayaks. We love them! Kind, helpful, fun. They always give a courtesy loan of items like a waterproof phone case and help us navigate what’s the most realistic day and time to rent with the weather. Good people! And my kiddo loves that he can use a little paddle.

The team at Eclectic Sun did a great job. We were very impressed how quick they had us out on the water. From the check-in desk where they confirm everything you rented, give you an idea of where you need to turn around to make it back in time. The 2nd step where they fit you with a life vest, make sure you have a safety vest, correct paddle size and anything else you might need. The 3rd step where they get you in the kayak and send you on your way. Top-notch service!

The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. I’m not as into kayaking as my wife is and she dragged me there. It was a two-hour drive but worth it. The waters were calm, the scenery beautiful. It was a very relaxing two hours in our kayaks. I highly recommend checking out Electric Sun Paddlesports.

I’d had questions regarding scheduling prior to renting kayaks and they were very helpful over instagram. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I loved that they provide a wet dry bag for phones and keys. Equipment was in great shape and we can’t wait to go back!

Eclectic Sun was great to work with. We rented a canoe from them. We had it reserved for a Friday but it was too windy so they notified us the day before and moved our reservation to the day after. The whole process was really easy. We did the waivers online so we just showed up and they put us in the water and gave us a map with simple instructions on what to see. They took care of everything. We would definitely use them again.

The lake and surrounding undeveloped, natural panorama are beautiful from every viewpoint. Staff were great for input/takeput; clean bathrooms; and good coffee + chairs/patio space to enjoy it after the paddle.

Absolutely beautiful. Nothing wrong with the kayak or the location.. the place is a dream. The guys helping us out were also super kind. Only thing slightly negative is the girl behind the counter who wasn’t super helpful.. I had left something and wanted to check the lost and found, but she didn’t really seem to care. Oh, and the women’s bathroom was also pretty rough. But other than those two things, everything was fantastic, and I will definitely be visiting again! 08/31/23 UPDATE: Zero complaints. Highly recommend renting from Eclectic Sun! We rented kayaks for 4 hours to explore the lake. We arrived and immediately were set up with kayaks and gear. The staff were friendly and helpful. The kayaks, life jackets and water bags were clean and in great condition. The entire process was easy and made for a fun day on the lake!

Friendly polite helpful staff THey called us when possibility of thunder and asked if we wanted to reschedule. SUPing on Lake Jocassee was great! For once we weren’t surrounded by jet skis.

Great experience!! We started out on 2 paddleboards but soon realized a kayak would be better for one of us. They helped us switch over and we were back on our way. Will definitely return!

This is the second time we have rented a kayak with them at Devil's Fork. We were happy with the experience and it's great that they are dog friendly since we take our dog with us everywhere (yes, even on kayaks).

I came to Lake Jocassee for its clear water and found Eclectic Sun, which offers a great selection of water activity rentals. I rented a sit-on kayak, and this was my first time kayaking. Throughout the rental process, they were informative and explained the rules while in the water, and showed me on the map the places to see, such as the small island and the waterfalls. My first time, I selected the 2 hr rental and loved it! I came back here another time, but I spent a few days at the Devil’s Fort Campground for a couple of nights. Although I showed up an hour before they closed, the staff remembered me and were kind enough to let me rent a kayak since I had been renting it for a few days. I enjoyed my time at the lake and I would highly recommend Eclectic Sun!

There are kind employees, and plenty of kayaks to rent. It is a little pricy, but you get 2 hours for a tandem kayak for $40.

Just needed a yak to get out on Lake Jocassee and Eclectic Sun made it a super easy and affordable endeavor. Would definitely recommend checking them out if you want to spend some time on the lake!

We arrive at 3:45 pm today and they refused to rent us a kayak, canoe or stand paddle arguing that they stop to rent at 4:00 pm. No sense.
