I recently visited El Chanclas Taqueria and, unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the price of $40 for 8 tacos is outrageous. I expected something special for that price, but the tacos were pretty average. Moreover, the cleanliness of the place was a major issue. The tables and floors were not well-maintained, and there were so many flies around that it made the dining experience quite unpleasant. It’s disappointing because a clean environment is crucial for a good dining experience, especially at a taqueria. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend El Chanclas Taqueria based on my visit. The high prices and lack of cleanliness are significant drawbacks.

Pastor tacos with her homemade corn tortillas were outstanding!

This place has some excellent food and the friendliest folks around. Everything is handmade and delicious. I had the Sopes with Pastor and they were so good I ate them before I could take a picture to put on this review. I highly recommend them if you’re in this part of town and looking for some tasty food.

Wow! Found this place by accident and couldn’t have been more happy with it. Do yourself a favor and get the pastor taco!!! Was delicious!!! Loved the homemade corn tortillas!!!!

This place takes cash or cash app I didn’t have either at the time, the lady who made my food did t hesitate to pay for my food out of her tip jar. I had the money sent to her right away. Great service great food 👍👍

Everything was very delicious, I recommend it with handmade tortillas.

Stopped by here on a road trip. The tacos were fantastic! Salsa was fresh and spicy! The barbacoa was good but the pastor was amazing. The tortillas were fresh and tasty! The owners were very friendly too! If I didn’t live in another state, I’d become a regular!

We accidentally ended up here when our bus back to downtown Austin broke down leaving us stranded, and we couldn’t have been luckier! The food was amazing and authentic: tacos (especially the al pastor) and gorditas on point. They make the tortillas from scratch. The family was nice enough to let us stay after closing a while to wait for our Uber and even offered us (and our Uber driver) some extra roasted corn elote. Thanks so much!

Delicious barbecue and hand-made tortillas

The best tortillas and gorditas fresh pressed and made to order. I’ve been to all the taco trucks in Austin from rundberg to riverside and this tops them all.

Homemade corn tortillas the best and the spicy salsa verde 💚 please if you don't know what to get between fajitas and steak(bisteck) go with bisteck 😋 And breakfast tacos are great too Only have chorizo c/huevo but probably will have more options the day you try 🤗 Very friendly

Tacos are amazing! The bistec and barbacoa were my favorite but they were all great. Home made corn tortillas are wonderful as well. Call ahead to order ribs on the weekend, deliciously fatty and charred. Will be back!

Always have great tasting food and I love how the corn tortillas are hand made on the spot. I have been going here since 2007 and I always have the chicharron taco with red sauce and it never disappoint.
