Excellent food for reasonable price. The great reviews I've read and heard over the last few years are well warranted.

Wow! We were traveling and looking for a local (non chain) restaurant with good reviews. This one was an aqard winner! What a fun experience for our taste buds!!! We wanted to share so we could could try more things Starting with the Boudin Cakes (it came with two!) and the Seafood Lafourche Bisque, we were surprised and delighted! They tasted fresh, were hot, and can I call them exciting?!!! Yum! We ordered the seafood pie and the catfish platter. They were both good. The dressing that was on the side salad and the french fries were different too. Loved the homemade crust on the seafood pie! Now we had a dilemma. We were stuffed. But, after all that deliciousness, we couldn't resist the sweet pies! So we got a peanut butter and a turtle pie to go! (We did sneak a bite of each first, though!) So good! Can't wait to travel back across I10 through Baton Rogue and drive a couple of miles. We'll worth the price!

Always a 10/10. The best fried okra I’ve ever had… Get it with the ranch! The seafood pie is phenomenal! The chocolate covered strawberry fluff pie has forever changed me but the “eye of the tiger” is excellent as well! Don’t skip this spot!

Found this spot on the drive up from NOLA this morning, and SO glad we gave it a shot. Excellent beer menu. Fantastic seafood pie. The boudin burger was exceptional. And the chocolate cream pie at the end was perfect. Great service, too! Can't wait to go back here.

I've been in mid city Baton Rouge for 8 years and this is my favorite restaurant find. Absolutely will be returning!

I’m absolutely disappointed in this company. I ordered the steak frites and asked them to make the steak medium well. It came back RARE with blood. I also requested a water and it came back with a strand of hair. I’m highly disappointed in them.

Came here for the first time, and I absolutely loved it! The staff was very friendly and the food rocks! Update: Came back 11/21/22 and it was great again. Loved the grilled cheese and tomato soup!! Update: Back yet again 7/14/23. Elsie's never disappoints!! This time we ordered the crawfish queso (omg amazing as always), three cheese grilled cheese and tomato soup (the perfect meal), and the boudin burger (one of the best burgers my husband has ever had). Update: Back again 8/18/24. When we arrived, we were told it would be a 50 minute wait. We were seated in less than 20 minutes. We started with our normal appetizer of crawfish queso. Seriously it's the best! This time I decided to try a burger. It was great! I had the highway 1 burger no mushrooms add pickles. The burger was very flavorful and well seasoned. My husband got his bonding burger again and enjoyed it. Can't wait to go back again.

When I go on a road trip, I seldom go the same way twice. I look for the highest reviewed restaurants on Google. I look for 4.7 or higher. This place is fabulous! The crab pie is a real shock. For the price, it can not be beat. The taste of a Maryland style crab cake throughout and is almost too big for one person to eat. It was just incredible.

Come for the pie and enjoy the entrees. The Seafood Pot Pie is excellent and highly recommended. Our party of 7 had a wide array from the menu with smiles all around.

Incredible tasting pies! We ordered the chicken pot pie and seafood pie. Both tasted amazing. Any pie on the menu is well worth eating. Service and atmosphere were also top notch!

The food was absolutely delicious! I definitely recommend it if you haven't been yet! The savory handpies are wholly satisfying, they're desert pies are refreshing, and their signature pepper jelly salad dressing is absolutely ambrosial. But the standout of my meal by far were the whipped Parmesan potatoes! Definitely do not pass those up!

This was our first time here and OOOOHH my. The pot pie was so good we went back again and the deliciousness was on point. We had the chicken pot pie and the seafood pot pie. Also we tried the coconut pie and the made fresh apple pie. What can I say, DELICIOUS! If you are visiting Baton Rouge like we were make this your first stop for lunch and come back for dinner. The service was great. We enjoyed the wait staff there as they are so friendly and helpful.

Elsie’s Plate and Pie is a very different concept than most restaurants we frequent. The menu is varied and everything we had was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great. We very much enjoyed our lunch and would definitely return.

Blue crab pie!! The delicacies at this amazing gem hits all your taste buds like a pin ball..it get crowded quickly and rightfully so as it's earn its reputation! It's been named again in the 225 Magazine as best of 2024 in 3 categories.

If you're ever 100 miles near Baton Rouge, you need to stop!!! The food is amazing, the staff is amazing!!! The salad dressing...I should've bought a case of it instead of a bottle. If your a foodie...Definitely worth the stop!

This restaurant offers fantastic food and outstanding service. However, it fills up quickly, especially if you don't arrive right when it opens, making parking a bit of a challenge. Despite this, the overall experience is excellent.

Everything on this menu is incredible. Some personal favorites: the red beans and rice with fried chicken, shrimp diablo with tomato soup, chicken pot pie… and get the dessert nachos! Always busy busy inside, so go early if you can so you don’t wait!

Food was pretty good. I had the burger, it wasn’t the greatest, but okay. The lemon icebox pie is what I’d go back for!! The service was very good as well.

Was driving through town and was recommended this place by a local. I have never been anywhere like this. The meat pies were amazing for something different. The beans and rice were really good with the sausage and spices. It was more like a gumbo and rice than beans and rice. The pork and beef pie had a really good pastery crust that was not crunchy. Finished it off with strawberry shortcake nachos which is really different. My only complaint is that the wait is quite long to be seated and to get food. We also got the wrong sides with our order but it was quickly fixed. Overall I would go back if I came back through Baton Rouge.

Took my Husband and Father for Father's Day. We all enjoyed. Server Jaylyn was SUPERB! VERY FRIENDLY and a joy to have.

Didn't care for the crust less crab pie. It's actually a quiche. Had to cut broccoli with a knife. The house salad and dressing were very good. Also enjoyed the pimento cheese with pepper jelly, it was delicious.

Seafood LaFourche soup is full of shrimp, crawfish n is RICH! Shrimp poboy is brimming with crispy shrimp. Pecan pie is delish. Downer: It's grungier than necessary even for "local flavor. " Waitstaff r consistently inattentive and grungy.

Amazing! I can’t wait to return. The service really stood out. My daughter has an egg allergy, so we normally pack her food, but half way through the meal she started to get fussy. The server was so kind and checked with the kitchen on options for my toddler to eat. You have no idea how grateful I was for her care and diligence. It’s nerve wracking for me to feed my toddler something I did not personally cook. The food was delicious and I ate every last bite of my seafood pot pie. The pepper jelly vinaigrette was so good, I could have drank it straight

Elise’s is a delightful restaurant that entices you with the aroma of delicious food even before you walk in. We were quickly seated and received great recommendations. I ordered the Chicken Poulet Pot Pie, a flavorful and delicious dish with a flaky, non-soggy crust and plenty of chicken. Though the pot pie itself is a hearty meal, I managed to try a slice of their signature pie, which tasted just as delicious after some time in the fridge. The Po Boy was massive, featuring well-seasoned shrimp and an excellent bread-to-shrimp ratio. Overall, a fantastic dining experience!

Food was good. I'm part Cajun and the red beans and rice was some of the best to cross my tongue. It's a little pricey but worth the visit even if you need to save up for it. Our waitress Mary was kind and jolly really made us feel welcome.

This place was such a pleasant surprise on the way back into New Orleans. We stopped for a quick bite. The service was exquisite and the food was true to Louisiana and stupid good. We started with the crawfish Queso, which I was a little hesitant to try with the chicharron, but we wound up cleaning the plate. We ordered the Crustless Crab Sea which was a little fishy, the Louisiana Poulet Pot Pie, and the Seafood Pot Pie. The two pot pies were crazy good and will definitely have me back the next time I'm in the area. We topped it all of with the chocolate cream pie and a scoop of ice cream. All I have to say is give this place a try. 100% worth it. Update: returned 2 years later. The original review is still 100% accurate

Elsie's truly is our favorite place to eat. We just made the trip from Houston to Baton Rouge to visit elsie's specifically. The food is incredible, the service is spectacular and very friendly, the desserts are so insanely good. We look for excuses to make the 300 mile drivw to visit and hope to keep doing so for a long time to come.

Wow, this place was amazing! We had the crawfish hand pie which was so tasty. We also had the okra and side salad. We would have gotten one of the sweet pies but we were too full to eat another bite. When we travel back through Baton Rouge we will stop in for a bite of their delicious pies for sure.

This was my first time to eat at Elsie's and it won't be the last. We got an assortment of savory pies and dessert pies to share. They were all delicious and our server was fast and friendly and kept our drinks filled.

This was my first time trying this place, and I'd definitely go again! I loved the cozy atmosphere and the friendly workers. My meal (the hot crawfish melt) was delicious, and so is their strawberry shortcake nachos. Now, the reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because their fries were a bit too salty for me, and the bathrooms weren't what I was expecting. Both are singles, and it was quite messy. There was toilet paper on the floor, it smelled too much like toilet water, and the lights were pretty dim. Overall, I enjoyed my experience!

Caldwell,of server, was great, very knowledgeable of the menu, extremely polite,we had drinks (Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita and Banana Foster Old Fashioned) and lunch(honey chop with parmesan whipped potatoes and crawfish etouffee with fried catfish),we also got an appetizer of the smoked chicken wings and a seafood pot pie,the pork chop and the wings had a blueberry pepper jelly glaze/dipping sauce that was very delicious,the food was Amazing.

I've heard so much about this place, and have been wanting to try it for at least 2 years. While the flavors are definitely there, there is a serious issue with things being served at the proper temperature. Our boudin cakes were cold inside - not warm, cold. Cold rice is not appetizing. My tomato pie - cold inside; to express how under-warmed it was, the mozzarella cheese was actually still individual shredded pieces and completely unmelted. Then, there was the french bread rounds served with the pimento cheese. They were toasted, but had been sitting out for quite some time, apparently, and were dry and had lost their crunch. We had to request fresh ones. Overall, I was very underwhelmed and disappointed. While there is major potential for this to be delicious, the fact that it's served barely warm (which is being overly generous) truly ruins the experience and renders what could be great food extremely unremarkable - and barely edible. Usually, I'd like to try a restaurant again, but in this case, the consistency of food being under-warmed or not fresh (which in my case was 3 out of 4 dishes), turned me off enough that I can't see it being worthy of a 2nd try. I left feeling totally dissatisfied and wishing I had dined somewhere else, and no one wants to feel that way, especially after spending the kind of money we spent on several appetizers, entrees, and desserts for 3 people.

Elsie’s plate and pie First off, the service was outstanding. We got right in, mostly because there were just two of us, but the place was packed on a Sunday afternoon. This is not a place that you would just happen upon, you have to be looking for it. The atmosphere is great and it’s not too loud to have a conversation. We started with the crawfish queso. It came with pork skins instead of chips. Fantastic. The queso was very flavorful and there was plenty of it. I ordered the seafood pot pie. The crust was very flaky and the flavor screamed Louisiana seafood. Crab, crawfish, and shrimp. It was very hardy and meaty. My wife ordered the crustless crab pie with Gouda grits. The grist were the first I have had with Gouda, and they were very good. The crab pie was very tasty. Somewhere between a crab cake and an omelette. This place is comfort meets Cajun. Pot pie, queso, and crab cake”ish”. Our server was Grace and she is super. She got my tea wrong and instead waiting to see if I noticed, she immediately realized her mistake and corrected it. She was extremely professional and among the best servers I have had in a long time. This is a return to hole in the wall. It is well hidden, but well worth the journey! Ask for Grace and tip her well.

Amazing food and amazing service! We're out of state and headed to the beach, stopping to try this place because I saw it on Tiktok. Lol Had no idea how busy it would be but that's telling of how good their food is. Not a big fan of the location, I feel like for their demand they should open something larger. The food is just that good! Another thing that I wanted to say, that isn't necessarily their problem but there are no "one way" signs coming out of their little parking lot onto the side street...

My daughter took me there for brunch Mother's day weekend. The crawfish queso omlette was delicious. The highlight of the meal was the Ice box lemon meringue pie.

Just by luck, we were talking to somebody at the Breaux Bridge crawfish festival about food and they told us we had to try this place on the way back home. Let me tell you this was by far the best food on the trip. The crawfish dip with pork rinds was absolutely amazing. We had the Boudin balls, seafood pie, and the crawfish pies. It was definitely worth a trip and we will definitely be back.

I want to love the pies but there are serveral that just come up short. Key Lime is not tart, Apple pie has a marginal/bad crust. Over the years, the standard pies that they should knock out of the park have become a swing and a miss!

Both the seafood or chicken pie were too liquid and disappointed. Also, large cockroach 🪳 was crawling behind me twice while dining in the booth. I had to kill it myself after telling staff.This disgusted both my wife and I. The waitress did not really apologize or have manager to talk with us about this either. I would not go back.

It’s clear I only review places I really like, however, Elsie’s Plate & Pie is one of those rare gems that deserves a perfect review. I was in Baton Rouge for work, and found this place while browsing for lunch. The boudin cakes were excellent, the tomato soup was the best I’ve ever had, and the seafood pot pie knocked it out of the park. I can’t wait to make it back here to try other dishes. Our server Grace made great recommendations, but clearly everything is good. She should be a trainer or manager as she knows the food and the history of the business. You can tell she really enjoys the food as well. I love reviewing places like this and they’ve perfected the food and service.

Loved the pork chop and parmesean whipped potatoes, and the peaches and cream pie was delicious. Must give the pork rinds a try. Tomatoe pie is excellent.

The delicious aroma catches you first. All that baked goodness is hard to resist. While I haven't tried the full breadth of their menu. Their meat pie was nice. The fries felt unusually hard, not crunchy or crispy, just hard. It was late so maybe we got an old batch. As someone who lives off of Australian Meat pies when I vist family overseas, I felt I had to give a local meat pie shop a chance. Definitely a different experience between the two. I plan to try the chicken next.

Elsie’s is a favorite of mine so it was a no brainer to go there for my birthday back in March. It was the first time for my boyfriend, who’s from Kenner, and he was throughly impressed. We got the red bean hummus and crawfish queso to start because I think EVERY MEAL should start with those two. The entrees were delectable as always and to top it all off, they had my all time favorite pie in the case. We took home a whole chocolate pecan pie because who needs birthday cake when you can have birthday pie?!?! All in all, a perfect evening at Elsie’s as always.

What a fantastic lunch we had here! Key Lime Pie beer while waiting for our table, which was about 20 minutes for 4 people a little after noon so not bad! I absolutely loved the hummus and the guys inhaled the crawfish queso. All the cocktails we had were delicious. Can't go wrong with anything here! It's loved by so many for a reason!

This place... The Seafood Pot Pie is to die for, along with the Crawfish Hand-pies, flavor just explodes in your mouth. I HIGHLY recommend this
