This place is amazing! The event was 21 people and so it was very nice! The owner and chef, a couple made the experience so perfect! 5 courses and the wine selection was perfect! First course: Amuses Bouches. Devil quail eggs, mango and prosciutto, and a Bloody Mary olive bite Second course: grilled shrimp with Asian Slaw Third course: Esperance Luna. Ravioli with Parmesan, Chèvre and ricotta cheese, spinach and tomato sauce Fourth Course: Veal Chop Fifth Course: Chocolate Pot De Crème with chocolate chip cookies. This was all perfection! From the table, to the service, to the food and the atmosphere!!! Definitely try to get in for this amazing experience!!!!

My favorite wine (and food!) shop the world over! The selection of fine vintages and delicious eats is outstanding. And the service from Pram & Suzanne is over the top! Do yourself a favor and make sure you put Esperance on your list of places to stop by when you are Up North.

What a great store! If you like gourmet foods and wines, this is the place for you. They had so many hard to find things like truffles, small maker European cheeses and wine galore!

Pram and his wife, Susan, are amazing! The pre-fix dinners they host in the summer are a real treat.

Dinner was incredible, including the service, and the shop itself is always fantastic. Esperance is always a highlight of visiting Charlevoix.

Lovely gourmet food and wine shop and cafe. The cafe has wonderful food and service in a nice outside space, but does have limited availability. The shop has a good selection of wines, yummy cheeses, and a variety of other specialty foods (and chocolates). Highly recommend!

Just encountered the rudest staff at this place. The owner is a clown. Threatened to shoot me if I wasn’t wearing a mask if I wasn’t vaccinated. Joking or not, that’s not something you say to someone. He just lost out on 8 customers who are wine and spirit lovers.

I can't say anything bad about this place. We drove by it, turned around and went back just to check it out and the owner let us in even though they weren't really open. He warned us he had a private client coming in and asked us NOT to touch anything. That is PERFECT in my book. BE SAFE! We only had a few minutes but WOW great selection of French Champagne and Wine. We grabbed a quick bottle of French Bordeaux and some awesome Blue Cheese (also from France) and left. I'm glad and sad I don't live closer to this place.

I stopped in for the wine, but return regularly for the dinner. This is one of the most memorable and enjoyable meals you will have. Pram is an amazing host, and will help you select your bottles prior to arrival, which is nice when we start with a white variety. The top restaurant in Northern Michigan, period! Wish they were located in Cincinnati!

We had the tasting menu on a Wednesday night at Esperance and everything was amazing. They converted the parking lot into an elegant dining area, with well appointed tables and very comfortable cushioned chairs. Their wine list is extensive and the owner is extremely knowledgeable about wine varieties. The prix fixe dinner started with quail egg 🥚 and a Persian salad with chives, parsley, cucumbers and tomatoes. After this first course came prosciutto salad with melon and arugula. The ricotta stuffed ravioli came after with grated Parmesan and artichoke. The steak 🥩 was perfect with fois gras and mashed potatoes, zucchini and sun dried tomatoes. Dessert was sweet corn 🌽 ice cream with biscotti, and grilled peach 🍑. Highly recommend, an excellent restaurant for you to enjoy 😊

I called to inquire about dinner at Esperance. Pram answered but said he didn’t think anything was available but really didn’t know. He was busy cutting prosciutto. He did take my name and number and said he would check on availability. Never heard from him. We have dined at this restaurant frequently and have always had impeccable service and outstanding food so I was a bit taken back at this

Owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The place is beautiful. He stayed late to show me a few wines, and I will be returning.

Staff is wonderful and helpful with wine selections and background. Excellent selection. Also many fine cheeses.

Had our anniversary dinner last night and Pram served us the best white and red wines we ever had and they were both wines we had never even heard of and I’m a collector! And the food...from the chef, his wife Sue was spectacular. The Luke trout was unbelievably delicious and the veal chop was as tender and tasty as we had ever eaten. It’s from. Farm in Canada that has free range calves that eat both gross and their mothers milk—all I can say is the the evening with our friends The Martins was rated OMG

Stopped in Esperance to buy wine and left with cheeses, salami and wonderfully delectable gourmet treats! What a treasure just North of downtown Charlevoix! We made a reservation for dinner this weekend- can't wait, the menu was intriguing. In the meantime, enjoying Dubliner cheese, artichoke spread and sipping our selection of wines. Stop in - your taste buds will thank you and so will your guests!

That a small resort town like Charlevoix, Michigan should have an asset such as this is simply a miracle: owners who are knowledgeable, care about quality and their customers, and have an inventive wide-ranging selection of offerings. This is a destination worth the trip! A visit is one of the best "things to do" in Northern Michigan.

Disappointing. We Just left. Waited 10 minutes in store for someone to greet us, then, waited another 11 minutes at the bar counter. Not a busy day.
