Found out it was my birthday and gave me a giant chocolate chip ice cream sundae

The service was great and reasonably priced. The food came out fast and was delicious. The menu was huge which usually scares me but everything we tried was good. Give them a shot if your in the area.

Really nice local place off I-81. The food was fresh and really good. I wasn't expecting much walking in but was pleasantly surprised. It's better than most of the places in Roanoke.

My burger was phenomenal. The mac and cheese and waffle fries were pretty mediocre but that's okay. It was a good experience overall. We enjoyed it. Our waitress was great. There's nothing particularly incredible about the place it's just a wonderful spot for local families and people passing through town.

Loved the homemade baked beans and the chicken salad and coleslaw was really good as well . Seems like a family owned small business and everyone seemed to really care about the quality of service.No complaints here ! Great food in a small town, thanks again

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was busy but we did not have to wait. They have a nice outdoor seating area. Our waitress was good. The staff was friendly and service was fast and accurate. The food we got was very good. Large portions for the price.

Delicious burgers and sandwiches. Fresh ingredients and creative recipes. Dessert looked fantastic but we didn't have room.

The view is really great but the food and service are also really really great.

We were on our way to williamsburg and kids were getting hungry. Youngest said burgers and this popped up on Google. Excellent. It looked like a hole in the wall, which I kind of love anyway. There were 5 of us, we all tried something different and everything was tasty.

The parking lot was a little tight, but you can park in the path driving up to the restaurant. The food was alright, nothing to lose sleep over. We both ordered medium burgers, and they came out well done. The patty melt was weirdly sweet, I think they put sugar in the caramelized onions. The waffle fries and onion rings were SALTY, like, you can see the grains of salt. The “awarding winning chili” was good, a bit sweet, but good. $45 (with tip) for two people

The food and service are amazing!

We stopped in for dinner about 30 minutes before closing time. The place was packed but that didn't matter! We were greeted immediately and told to sit anywhere. Our waitress was friendly and our food was great! What more can you ask for?

Came here for dinner (on 7/25/2024) with my family and boyfriend before our drive back home to our hometown and was not disappointed at all!!! I absolutely love the atmosphere, it’s such a cute little local restaurant! The service is also AMAZING even though there was a sign on the door saying they’re currently understaffed. Our waitress was patient, sweet, and answered all of our questions with kindness. They were pretty busy when we first came in and they still got our food out in a timely manner, not to mention all of our dishes were DELICIOUS! 10/10 would recommend this place and would def come back on our next trip to Lexington.

Wait staff was attentive, great stop on I-81. Good variety to choose from, everyone enjoyed the food. Make sure you leave room for dessert.

Food was really good! The service was excellent… We went today (7/19/2023) at lunch time, in a large group and these two ladies gave us an excellent service. They are champions! We will return the next time we are in this area.

We were passing through with our camper. It was just the right distance from Black Water Falls SP in WV on our way to NC. Side note there is fuel at this exit. Great local craft beer on draft and in cans. We parked at the beginning of the road leading up to the cafe to ensure a clean turn around. The food was great! There were several options for the kiddo. Friendly and prompt service and they were pretty busy. An outdoor space for your pup if you have one. I’d definitely stop again!

The hamburgers are made with local beef. The hamburgers are hard to beat , very tasty hamburgers . Mozzarella sticks were done just right !

Hey great sweet potato fries. Most places dont cook fries until they are crispy. This restaurant does. Nice. Good Burgers too.

We stopped here after a river kayak trip and very glad we did. Burgers were great - sweet potato fries, onion rings, waffle fries were all hot and delicious. No room for dessert as we took some of this food home. Grass fed beef. We will CERTAINLY stop again.

We went by the reviews and they were correct. Best burger and baked mac and cheese was delicious! They even had fresh homemade desserts. Directly off 81 north. Service was fast and good. We will definitely stop again

Good food, a nice stop on the side of 81. We had our dog with us and they let him sit with us on the patio and brought him some water. We both had burgers and they were both very good

Such a cute little stop when we needed to take a break and eat. The food was delicious and we even tried vinegar pie for dessert! The patio seating area looked very scenic as well.

Amazing food. We sat outside on the patio. Lots of people coming for Mothers Day. Still, service was great. Afterwards we went to Buchanan to walk on the swinging bridge and check out Twin Rivers Outfitters. Will be back!

I and my husband were driving down from New york State, where we live, and we stopped by for dinner. I'm so happy we did their menu. It has so much food they offer, and it's really good as well. We definitely will be stopping by there again when we drive back up to the southern states .. hint they are in a little kiddy corner, so u will need to pay attention 😉

So so so good. I will come back here any time we drive to or from tennessee or Georgia to visit family. Amazing drinks, the friendliest staff, and some of the most delicious southern food I’ve had in my life. I know it’s not good for me and I just don’t care haha. Absolutely worth every bite. I had been craving some well made mashed potatoes for the longest time and had been so dissapointed by other places. The mashed potatoes and gravy here were to die for and the patty melt was spectacular. My spouse got sliders and salt and vinegar waffle fries and his food was amazing too. This place is just phenomenal and I want to try everything.

Without a doubt; worth the stop! Their menu was filled with anything, and everything you could want. If rolling down the highway, and need a drink, or a bite to eat - make the stop.

Pulled off at this exit because Gas Buddy posted a lower price for diesel than was correct and decided to eat here. What great fortune for us! Food was delicious, well priced, generous portions. I had the fish sandwich and chili fries. Travel buddy has eggs, grits, bacon, and toast. Both had coffee. I had a juice. Bill was $30 and we both had leftovers! Pull off for your meal here - you won't regret it!

Other reviews are not exaggerating; possibly one of the best hamburgers I have eaten (Fried Mozz). There are also tons of other unique burgers and sides including the sweet potato fries which are also amazing (comes with its own sweet dipping sauce). Definately stop by for a bite and drink if passing through while you enjoy the mountain view.

We had heard this place was hit or miss….more miss than hit when we went tonight. The onion rings were very good, but things went downhill after that. I had a burger with coleslaw. Burger was a little undercooked and slaw had NO flavor at all. Wife had a grilled cheese and what they call “baked beans”. The bread on her sandwich was almost bone dry which made it toasted and not grilled and was very light on the cheese, it definitely did not cover the bread. Her side of beans had bacon and sausage in it so you would expect some flavor…you would be mistaken. The best part of the experience was our waitress. Allie was on point with her service and care of us. It’s a shame that the kitchen’s product doesn’t support the front of the house’s efforts.

Service was excellent. I ordered the shrimp and grits thinking it was Et tou fe style. It's wasn't. That's OK. Ordered collard greens as a side, they were tangy, not savory. Baked Mac n cheese was banging tho. Forgot to get a pic of that. My son ordered the Mac n cheese burger and loved it. Views were stunning. It was raining but we could peak through blinds. Overall would come here again, ill probably just order something different. Again, Service was phenomenal.

Literally still sitting in the restaurant but I couldn't wait to leave a review. Adorable restaurant. The sweetest staff. Fast service. The menu items were so unique and DELICIOUS! I live an hour and a half away and stopped in after hiking but would absolutely make the drive just for this restaurant. A must have in my opinion is the chili burger.

We had been travelling in the US through different states for a week, this was the best meal we had!! I wished I lived by here, I’d eat here often.

This is an old fashioned, road side cafe. There’s nothing fancy, but the food was fresh, delicious and flavorful. The service was great too.

Stopped on our way traveling, got a burger and BLT, they were amazing!! Burger was cooked perfectly and was super juicy! The staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Good view even in the winter!!

We took our daughter today for lunch. She heard about the place and wanted to go for her birthday. So me my wife our daughter and grandson went. The waitress we had was awesome. Wish I was better at remembering names. She took our appetizer order and also our 3yr old grandson order because he was hungry and couldn't wait on us. I can not find one thing to complain about with the appetizer our my meal. I also tried a bite of my wife's Philly cheese steak it is by fair the best I have had. My daughter got a hamburger of some kind and loved it. The waitress was grate about keeping our dranks filled and on top of anything eles we may have needed. Everyone in the place was friendly and thanked us for coming in. If you're looking for some fresh cooked food friendly services look no further this is the place for you. Also the price for the the quality food and service you get is great. I've spent more at chain restaurants for frozen food with not much taste and poor service. This is a local gem in dead. Plus I get the feeling and impression it's independent owed.

This is a perfect stop off the highway. We had a the Williams Wonder with fired jalapenos and mango bacon jam, chili & grilled cheese, grilled jerk chicken with sides. They have a little bar tucked away as well. We went in winter but it looks like they have patio seating. Clean, friendly and welcoming. We may have found our new 64 81 travel stop. Coming back for pie ❤️

My family and I stopped here for a bite after visiting the natural bridge. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was! Even the fries were cooked perfectly. Our waitress was friendly and checked in on us at the right times. When we visit VA again, we will DEFINITELY be back.

I wish I could give a better review, but after a 20-minute wait, we got our room-temperature burgers and mac and cheese despite only a few people there. The ingredients were creative, and we were excited to eat there, but cold burgers are like hockey pucks. The only thing warm was the onion rings. When we told the waitress that several things were cold, she warmed the mac and cheese - a little.

Beautiful view and very kind staff. The friend green tomatoes with the chipotle mayo was great! The rest of the food was okay. We had corn and bowl of chili and both tasted canned.

This review is long overdue. The Foot of the Mountain Cafe is my favorite restaurant and I drive from Lynchburg at least once a week to go there. The place stays busy and has a variety of meal options, plus homemade desserts. They have the best onion rings I have ever had! Everything that they make comes in a good portion size and is always fresh and delicious.

The Foot of the Mountain Cafe is a little gem located right off interstate. Locally owned and operated. Has been voted one of better restaurants a few times. If near this establishment, do you self a favor and give it a try. Burgers are of great quality and taste, wings are very satisfying, and the desserts are made with the highest quality and assortment of flavors.

Highly recommend stopping by and enjoy the food yummmmmm ty for a great meal

Great homemade blackbean burger

We had lunch and it was wonderful. The appetizer of fried green tomatoes was more than we ever get anywhere (9 pieces).The house salad that came with our sandwiches was big and full of veggies. We ended up taking our fish sandwiches home as we were full after that! The view of the mountains was incredible and well worth the 30 minute drive from Roanoke!

Armosphere (outdoors) is great; the food has been exceptional and plentiful. The acoustics inside the restaurant during my first visit years ago were echo-like, Maybe inside noise is better now but the food is hard to beat! I'd go more often if it was nearer to me!

Aly was our server; unironically the best Buffalo chicken wrap I've had in recent memory. Service was fast, to the point, and everything was served with a smile. My parents enjoyed their black bean burger, and the optional gluten free bun was an unexpected but very much welcome option for my gluten-sensitive Mom. Super easy place to get to from the interstate. This place is almost too good to be true, but believe me, it's legit.

Stopped in for quick bite. The Sandwiches were fantastic so glad this popped up on the GPS.

We stopped here for lunch more as a last minute decision. We have driven by this place dozens of times over the years but never are here due to timing. The place was packed but we were seated relatively quickly. The menu is extensive. Let’s just say if you can’t find something that looks good to you, you’re probably not hungry. Portions were huge. God was tasty. Service was great - probably explains why the place was packed.

We were visiting the Caverns and the Natural Bridge in Virginia this weekend. After a full morning of hiking we were looking for a place to eat lunch and We found ourselves at the Foot of the Mountain Cafe. To start we order the crab dip appetizer , it was delicious. Next we order the pimiento cheese chicken sandwich with fried green tomatoes and chipotle Mayo and it was a hit. We loved the diversity in the menu and definitely recommend you visit.

The atmosphere is friendly with a great view. The food is very good with a surprisingly short wait. Dog friendly with a huge deck and a hill the size of a football field to run around. Highly recommended.

Right along the interstate, super convenient. Even though there was a sign for being light staffed their service was quick, friendly and efficient. They have a huge selection of homemade burgers from a local farm. We sat outside, and had an awesome view of mountain that was in peak fall colors. My only constructive criticism is you want to order about a half done this higher than what you want as we ordered medium they came out medium rare.

Third time in about 6 weeks, started excellent,2nd time, figured it was a bad day, last time the 4 of us left. More than we ate, and that seemed like the general trend

This was my first time eating here. The server was very polite and attentive. The steak was superb! The mountain views were very pretty nearby. There was also a small bar area and outdoor seating. We will definitely go back!
