We didn’t eat there, but wish I had. We stopped in on recommendations and loved the atmosphere and friendly bartender and patrons! I will definitely come back next time I am in the area!

Not sure how they do it, but the burgers are perfect every time.

Old time saloon, bad graffiti in rest rooms. Management could clean it up, but must choose not to. Inside dark. You can cook your own burger on a table top grill. When we visited there were guys sitting on deck entrance making rude comments to us upon entering.

Didn't get food. Bar tender was NOT friendly at all.

Don't bother stopping in to dine in unless you feel like cooking your own burger. Because those are your only food options.

This was a fantastic find! After meeting the previous owners at another spot, we dove in for local beer and 'bbq your own burger'. We got great beef patties and all the fixings to do up on a gas grill in the bar. Sports, music and a great time!

An once in the lifetime experience, grill your own burger, jam with the folks there if you know some instrument! Everyone is so friendly

Grill your own burgers, a piano, guitars, a pool table, darts and some of the most interesting bathroom graffiti around are all great features, but the people of Ester are really the gold here.

The Eagle is an Ester classic, I love the atmosphere and the feel. The bartender(Bri) was awesome. Stop in and check them out. You'll be glad you did.

One of the most awesome animal encounters I have had. The reindeer are friendly and the staff are knowledgeable and great. Definitely recommend this and if I come back to Fairbanks I will be sure to book again.

Great little drinking establishment up in Ester, Alaska. On Sundays they have a gathering of Pickers. It was really fun to listen to the musicians that gather to play a little old and new music. The most adorable little girl bulldog was a patron on this day. I did not eat there, but they have a grill where you can prepare your own hamburger! I recommend this fun little place.

The Golden Eagle. Wood fires crackle cutting the chill of a cold Alaska winter night. Meaty burgers hiss on the grill. The Lords and Ladies masterfully play acoustic instruments and sing folk variations. Waves of ease wash over the room as the drinks are poured by the genuinely happy barkeep. The Apple IIgs rings up the tab. Soft light dances on the log walls. The day suddenly got better.

Regulation beer joint in Ester AK about 4-5 miles outside of Fairbanks. On Main street which is a dirt road. Colorful locals arrive within a few minutes of opening. Bartender already pouring their drinks as they walk through the door. Pool table and lots of seating but most people sit at the very long bar. If you order a burger, they bring you a ball of ground chuck and tell you the grill is out front, cook it yourself. A little smokey (even the bartender smoked while working). Glad we stopped by on our way to Fairbanks.

What you'd expect for an out of the way saloon in AK. Good down to earth people. Mystery beer is a bargain.

Best pool table, best cook yourself burgers, super chill, and the porch rules in the summer.

Very rustic with a blue grass feel. Worst part was they only accept cash, they have an ATM if u want to pay the 300 fee to use it. Best part is the drive there and the view once your there

An Alaskan saloon, basically the Ester Community Center. Inexpensive beverages, pool, cook-your-own burgers. Will seem clubby if you're new, but Ester loves people who can carry on a thoughtful conversation. Yes, at a bar.

Because, just because. Plus, you can cook your own burger.
