Wow - the most beautiful and elegant restuarant in Northern Wisconsin. The most professional, friendly staff. Excellent steaks and sauce, and delicious and fresh fish. Yumm - delicious desserts as well. Thank you Ben, for a memorable dinner!! We'll be back!

Fine dining Up Nort? Absolutely! Everything on the menu is so good that I couldn't finish my entrée! The dry rub ribettes did me in and made so sad about not being able to finish my salmon in saffron cream with wild mushroom ravioli (no cheese BTW!) Even the bread and salad are elevated, by an herb compound butter and a dressing so good I had to buy some to take home. We will absolutely be back the next time we are up in the Apostle Islands area.

Easily the best place for dinner in the area. Sat outside by the fire for a cocktail before dinner, then at the bar for the meal. All the servers and hosts were just great! This place really has their business dialed into perfection.

Great small restaurant. The service is just excellent. The owner sees that every detail is given attention. There is something for everyone on the menu. The only negative thing is that the restaurant is essentially one large room. That does make for a happy atmosphere, but it's also very loud and difficult to hear. We always leave thoroughly satisfied.

A diamond in the rough! My wife and visited the Apostle Islands area/Bayfield to get away from the Houston heat, and most of the restaurants we encountered were touristy, with average food. Good Thyme was recommended to us by a local and we decided to check it out. What a great decision! I can't recommend Good Thyme enough. We didn't have a reservation, but the Maitre d found a table for us. The staff was attentive and friendly. The owner was available and personally visited with each table to ensure customer satisfaction and engage in some friendly conversation. The plates we ordered were amazing. Great attention to detail that we would expect in an expensive, upscale Houston restaurant. We started with duck wontons, and then proceeded to the hand cut ribeye and 'Saffron & Salmon'. The potatoes accompanying the steak were especially outstanding. We finished with a chocolate mousse with a berry glaze topping. Everything tasted great and the presentation was top notch. I wish this restaurant was in Houston.

The food is perfectly cooked and combines unique flavors. We had the duck wontons with an incredible sauce, the terrace major crusted steak, and the saffron and salmon. Service is also spectacular, the entire meal was paced very well and the bustling energy in the restaurant was so fun to be a part of. For dessert we had the brown butter cake served on a cast iron skillet, the mix of hot cake and cold vanilla ice cream is my favorite combination. After our meal, we made friends at the fire pit and enjoyed talking to the restaurant owners, Ben and Sara. They are two good hearted people with great stories to tell and their love shines through at this restaurant! A truly special place, we’re so glad we visited!

Great dining experience for the whole family! The owner, Ben, greeted us at the door and despite being fully booked with reservations, was able to accurately pin down how long of a wait it would be before a table opened up. He also went out of his way to ensure we were able to order drinks while we waited on the patio. The food was delicious and the staff was all super friendly and accommodating, making for a top-notch time birthday dinner for my dad! Thanks for a great night!

The food was very good but the service could have been better. I’m not sure why but it used to be just common to have your water glass or coffee filled without having to ask but not anymore, even at this supposedly upscale restaurant. They also charge for every drink refill including iced tea! This was a special occasion for us and my husband had read great reviews about this restaurant and we were excited to try it. The hostess and our server were very friendly and welcoming but the owner was constantly checking on every customer in the restaurant around us which isn’t very large but never once checked with our table and actually totally ignored my father-in-laws question when he was walking past our table. It is obvious the owner is not fond of tourists because everyone else seemed to be regulars. That is not the way to stay in business! We were trying to experience all the restaurants in the area while vacationing here but on our next trip here we will not be giving this restaurant our business !!!

This 5 star gem of a restaurant is absolutely amazing all around for our 20 year anniversary celebration. The beautiful warm home feeling decor, love the beautiful decorated house and porch. Great friendly smiley staff , All of the food from the AMAZING duck wontons , to the heavenly peanut butter cup pie, delicious salad, and mouth watering flavored ribeye were all flavored amazing and cooked to perfection with great presentation. 👍 Highly recommend Good Thyme!!!! We will definitely be back again when back in the area.

Solid 4-star (Google rating) experience. Food was good, and better than a normal "dinner restaurant". Wait staff fine, though they might never get around to refilling your water glass. 🤷 Pricing ok for entrees and drinks, though around $10-$15 over what you'd expect. Only a couple main entree/meals under $20, so plan on paying at least $140 per couple

10/10 service- all of the staff (owner included) were so wonderful and attentive. Their suggestions were on-point and they took the time to chat with us despite it being busy in the restaurant. 10/10 food- every single dish that we tried was beyond phenomenal. The Old Fashioneds that the bartender made were some of the best drinks we have had in a long time. 10/10 atmosphere- while the space itself is small, our group never felt crowded or rushed. We never had to shout to hear each other and the space itself was absolutely lovely. My family and I cannot wait to come back!

Always a restaurant that I stop at when visiting my mom. Food, service and atmosphere are amazing. Just tried their cheesecake and compote for dessert this time. This dessert is to die for and wish I could buy an entire cheesecake to take home with me. A++ restaurant and will continue to go here when in the area. Make sure to stop and visit…and make sure you make a reservation, as they are very popular.

The best place!! The new owner has made this place incredible. They don't have a lot vegan options, but I don't even care! The few they do have are outstanding- I would be stoked to see more options though! The service is always great and I always leave beyond happy. The tofu curry is the best dish I've had in years and the pasta night rocks! (I would love to suggest adding a vegan protein option to pasta night though! Beyond or Impossible meatballs/meat crumbles would be SO delicious!)

Traveled from Minnesota for a weekend getaway and had dinner at this place. Ribeye was exceptional - the best steak I had in months. Great value ($39). The all you can eat fish fry was also a great value, but the taste was standard and was as expected. The complementary salad was extremely good - such a nice surprise. Highly recommend this place! Amazing food and service. Really enjoyed my night.

Got a chance to visit tonight and I am so glad we did! Starters we're the mussels and we devoured them, with the boy having the majority! I really enjoyed the Thai Curry Shrimp, hubby had the Moraccan Chicken and the boy the Friday Fish fry. We finished the evening with the most amazing dark chocolate mousse with a fruit compote and whipped cream. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely go back and recommend!

We were in the area for about 5 days and was recommended this place from howl brewery. We decided to give it a try. We ended up going two nights in a row. 0 complaints. Food is top notch and drinks are made to perfection. I had the ribeye both nights and the wife had salmon and whitefish. Amazing place. Definitely the best in the area by A LOT. Order an old fashioned and a ribeye. You won't be disappointed unless you don't like those to begin with

So proud to have a dining experience like Good Thyme right in my area. A friend and I swung by for a late night meal and drink, and were so impressed with everything about Good Thyme. From the handcrafted drinks, to the carefully curated flavors of the food, to the pleasant nature of the staff and cozy ambiance - it was a great experience. A true hidden gem in Wisconsin. Fresh farm to table food, cozy atmosphere, amazing cocktails and decadent desserts. This will forever be my favorite restaurant. A short scenic drive from beautiful Ashland. Catering is also available. Make it a point to stop when you are in the area. Definitely a memorable experience.

Good Thyme is a cozy, beautifully decorated place with delicious food and excellent service. We had the Friday night fish, and it was done perfectly and came out super fast. The couple next to us had a baby that mom had to take care of for a bit, and when they asked if the restaurant could keep their plate warm the staff was super understanding and accommodating. I would recommend a reservation, luckily there were two spots at the bar but this place is popular for a reason!!

So amazing! The restaurant itself is so homey and beautiful. But.. THE FOOD! It's our yearly date place every time we are in the area. I have the ribeye every time and it's always delicious. My husband had the ravioli with gulf shrimp tonight and we shared and for starters the duck wontons might be the best appetizer we've ever had. Then every time the warm chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

We live in the twin cities area and we’re excited to try this upscale place in a historic home. First off, the food was FABULOUS! Couple things that needed improvement, such as the attire of the staff, cloth napkins, the baskets that they use for appetizers?!, the cracked flower pot in the front and broken light, oh yes, and don’t serve your rolls with rock hard butter. Again, nice place , check it out for “upper scale” dining but there is room for improvement

Pleasantly surprised being from out of town and unfamiliar with the area. I had a delicious crusted ribeye and my companions had the Friday fish fry - easily one of the best I’ve had. The coating was light and crisp and the dish was perfectly cooked. And it was all-you-can-eat. The two main reasons for the 4 stars were for the crostini appetizer with caramelized onions, cheese, and a balsamic reduction- really very good, and for the terrific cocktails! The bartender knows what he is doing and can shake up some perfect martinis and other concoctions - extra cold and made to order. The staff was pleasant and delivered a very enjoyable evening.

I’ve had pork shank (Ossobuco) at some high-end Italian restaurants in New Jersey, and Good Thyme more then held its own. Everyone, from the bartender to all the other friendly customers, made it a very special evening. Not our first at this South Shore classic, but one of the best. Thanks GT!

The building is beautiful. The old charm is so very lovely! The service was spot on and the food was wonderful. I had the Friday fish fry which was a delightful treat. I will certainly be back the next time I'm in Bayfield. If you're looking for a location for an experience and great food, I highly recommend this restaurant.

I had visited with a very large group and they were very accommodating of this and extremely welcoming. The service was excellent and their fish special was even better! My wife and I arrived right when the door opened, which was good because they quickly became so busy that others could only get a table with a reservation. We each had the Friday night Fish Fry. It was EXCELLENT in every way!!!!! Crispy fish, flavorful potatoes, and the drink suggestions were on point. Afterwards we found out we locked our keys in the car. Not only did several staff tried to help us, while being very busy, but then allowed us to stay until the locksmith came to open the car for us. Everyone was SO kind and helpful. Thank you for a lovely Anniversary evening for us.

I dined at this restaurant on 11/6/2021 with 3 other people. We were seated at a table in front of the bar. We had a 5 PM reservation, and we had drinks, appetizers, the main course, and dessert. Our bill was approximately $300. We left at 8 PM, and there were empty tables, and room at the bar for other customers. The food was very good, but I will not return because I believe it was rude of the bartender to say out loud, "You've been here all night."

Came across this place from a recommendation while shopping in Bayfield. Although we did not have a reservation we were seated quickly at the bar. Service was excellent despite short staffing. We were informed their menu had been downsized due to staffing, but I feel they had a good selection. Ordered the parmesean crusted ribeye which was out of this world! Will return if we ever come back this way from Green Bay again!

This place is a gem! We ate there this past weekend and were treated to great food and service in a charming atmosphere. We had the Almond Crusted Whitefish, roll, salad and a brown butter cake. The fish was tender and delicious, the rolls and salad were perfect and the cake was amazing. I’m sure there are lots of special foodie words I could use to describe the food but I think you just have to check it out if you’re in the area. Get reservations.

We saw Good Thyme’s distinctive yellow building while driving to our hotel for a weekend of hiking and kayaking. It looked interesting, so we decided we’d look it up and make some time to check out. Wow, we are glad we did! The almond encrusted whitefish was excellent, as were the lemon mascarpone cake and all of our drinks. Generally this place has a fun aesthetic, and the service was excellent!

Thanks for being able to get us in!!! Best meal of our summer getaway. Almond crusted whitefish was so good. The chicken romesco was also delicious. The bartender makes a delicious lemon drop martini.

The moment we walked in, the host was super friendly and helped us get a drink at the bar while waiting. They ended up getting us a table faster on the patio and the waitress we got was so much fun (and sassy!). I highly recommend this place. Great food and fun staff!

The service was very poor so with my experience, if you don't have reservations don't bother stopping here. You won't be treated well. Did give it three stars because they got most of it right in the kitchen. Won't go back ever.

I would go out of my way just to eat here! The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are so friendly! We had the char grilled ribeye and the almond crusted white fish and 10/10 would recommend

Might as well get the 1-star ding out of the way. For whatever reason the food took longer than I've experienced at other restaurants. The waitress didn't keep us informed either when we could expect our appetizer, and main course. 30 minutes for the appetizer to show up, 1h 10m for the main course. Whatever the reason, just knowing what to expect seems reasonable. For a Wednesday, this place was busy. We had reservations, but others who popped in without were seated and had food faster than we did. Enough of that, because the food was very good. We had the mussels as an appetizer, and it was quite a sizeable bowl of them in some sort of salty cream sauce with bread. Delicious. The salad was next, very good flavors, dressing, and crumbled bleu cheese. Prime rib and pork shank up next. Both portions were large. The pork shank needed no knife, it fell apart. The prime rib was soft and was seared. Both presented nicely with tasty sauces.

I want to start off by saying that Good Thyme has a great farm house atmosphere, the food we ate was tasty, and that our server Sarah was amazing. This being said, there were a few problems. It was a little frustrating that out of the six appetizers on the menu, only two were available to order because the restaurant had run out of supplies. We also ordered a bottle of wine, but they'd run out of that particular bottle as well. For the main course, I got the hand cut ribeye. It came out a little over cooked, but not enough for me to send it back. My husband ordered the chicken romesco, which he LOVED! However, once he got to the center of the chicken breast, the meat was under cooked. He was honestly disappointed he couldn't finish it. We didn't say anything as he'd already eaten most of the meat, but our server Sarah noticed how raw it was in the center and comped the dish. Overall, I'd like to give Good Thyme the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to an off night.
