My favorite local coffee shop in town

I've been here multiple times and it's always been a great experience. Their pastries are always fresh and their coffee is served at the perfect temperature, never scalding hot. Today we got the peach cobbler cinnamon roll and the apple pie cinnamon roll. Both were delicious.

It’s like a door breach for your taste buds! Exceptionally smooth coffee with no bitter after taste. If you are a coffee connoisseur, please stop by and give them a try!

I want to give a HUGE shout out to Chris, at GroundOps Roastery + Bakehouse, for hosting our homeschool co-op! I called and asked if Chris would be interested in hosting our co-op, to explain the daily ins and out of owning this business, and he absolutely delivered!!! The entire staff was wonderful, the restaurant was clean and well maintianed (we got a GOOD upclose look at alllll the stuff), and seemed to run like a well oiled machine. Chris was so patient and kind, answering everyone's questions with genuine interest and attention, regardless of how many times he had already heard the same question (kids lol.) I just wanted to share with you all this truly fantastic experience. And, of course, encourage you to go by and see Chris and his crew for delicious pastries, marvelous coffee and outstanding customer service!! Thank you GroundOps!!!

Great atmosphere, Super friendly staff and the food is amazing. Probably some of the best pastries that you will ever eat. One staff member, Chris was extremely helpful and nice and I will definitely be back again!

Stopped by for iced coffee and a pastry with my daughter. Loved our drinks and dessert. BTW they have the best service person working there. Didn't her name but she is fairly tall and you will recognize her enthusiasm if she serves you.

Espresso con panna! As good as Italy. And amazing pastries you can get nowhere else

Normally I enjoy coming to this place, the environment and cinnamon rolls are really nice! I would advise getting new mugs or being wary of touching the base of the mugs though. Today the barista handed me my hot tea by the base of the mug instead of the handle, and I burnt three of my fingers. I didn't think they would offer to hand me the drink by the base if it was that hot. And after all that, I disliked my green tea. I don't recommend it, but the coffee and cinnamon rolls are great!

Love this place! Atmosphere is awesome!

Unfortunately this was not a great coffee experience. The drip my husband got was okay but my small latte was very milky, couldn’t taste the coffee at all. And the alternative milks (oat) they use are of the Silk brand, which is not very good either. Also no vegetarian quiches today.

Authentic, rich flavored coffee but I mainly enjoyed the atmosphere and baked goods. I got a low cal mocha nitro cold brew. The notes of the coffee beans definitely came through more so than the mocha if thats what you’re looking for. The baked good I got was a gluten free hello cake. My only ding on this establishment was their online menu suggested several more gluten free options that weren’t available not out of limited quantity but what seemed like they did not have them at the restaurant at all. Otherwise, the cake itself for the gluten version was supposed to come with buttercream frosting but honestly, the cake is dense, moist, and sugary so I don’t think it needed frosting. Very delightful baked good! Warm, naturally lit indoor interior with several seating options and a couch area. Most of the perimeter looked like it had charging plugs nearby as well. I wouldn’t say drive here just for the coffee/treats but if you’re nearby and need a convenient, comfy place to catch up with friends it’s a great option!

Immediately upon walking in your nose is filled with the smell of fresh coffee and baked goods. Once you've had a moment to look around, the first thing that catches your eye is the case of fresh baked, hello cakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and so much more. They all look so delicious they have a Creme De Leche that I would devour. Some of the items are even gluten-free, like the 8 dollar sour dough bread, and it's an entire loaf!! The next thing to catch my eye was this strange contraption on the other side of the building that, according to its name, is a coffee bean roaster. Meaning they get the raw beans and roast them how they want! How cool is that? I also noticed they have a decent size wine rack for Friday and Saturday night when they do wine and charcuterie. Just to the right of the register is my favorite part about the entire experience it's a little section dedicated to helping foster dogs find a loving home and I think that is just to sweet and very clearly tells you where the heart and soul of this business is. It's to help our community by bringing folks together for a little treat and quality time with each other. Be sure to stop in here. Grab a drink and a snack with some friends or alone and just relax.

We had cappuccinos and a cinnamon bun. They were excellent. Only two people behind the counter so grab a seat and have a moment of patient bliss.

Such a trendy local coffee shop! I had a great visit here, where the white chocolate mocha and cookie butter lattes were delicious. It is a bit pricey here, but i honestly didn’t mind as the service was great, the flavors were original and yummy, and the atmosphere inside of the shop was cozy and uplifting! They change flavors frequently and I’ve heard the cinnamon rolls are amazing. A good place for some sweet treats. I do hope they open another location with a bigger parking lot, as the parking honestly sucks and you just hope you don’t scrape your car as you pull in.

The coffee is very tasty, top tier amongst the local shops. The offer a variety of unique and delicious food options, both sweet and savory. Also it is always such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, their whole team greets you with a smile and seem genuinely happy to be there.

Amazing Guatemalan Espresso Roast!

What a great local coffee shop!! This was my first experience. I enjoyed the iced Bunker Buster and their famous cinnamon roll! I also purchased the Hello cake but it got googled up before I could get a bite. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, lots of seating!

Fantastic food and the best coffee in town!

I have seen this place on social media and decided to give it a try. Came in on a Sunday around 1pm. The cinnamon roll was very decadent and looked as good in the photos. The flavor and texture of the roll was still great granted it was towards closing time of the shop. We asked the lady about an Oreo roll and she said they don’t have anymore but will in the upcoming week. She then came back and told us that they still have the Oreo crumbles they make it and can “recreate” it for us. So we agreed and she said it was on the house! We were fully ready to pay for it but she was very sweet and insisted that we take it home. The coffee was pretty good too. Overall this place was a great experience and will be coming back very soon.

I have yet to try their coffee, but people Rave about it. I did try their London Fog Earl Gray tea latte. I'm not usually a froofy tea drinker, but the lavender and vanilla flavors were delicious. Their food items in the display case looked scrumptious. Until the next time.

Coffee tasted awful. Like warm milk. Two lattes and a pastry that I couldn’t eat either. Really disappointed to be asked to tip prior to receiving this. Will not be back.

Visited here twice, and both times the service was as exceptional as the coffee and food. The barista was happy and willing to help "first timers" order off the menu or from the case. Coffee is roasted on site and tastes delicious. Cinnamon buns are the family favorite and steal the show. They are fairly large with copious amounts of icing (cream cheese?). The cafe is clean, well maintained and original.

Delicious food, friendly staff, and perfect coffee. I was greeted as soon as I entered, and the baristas were great as I asked menu-related questions. The atmosphere inside the café was really unique - the corner location for the shop definitely makes this one of the more visually beautiful coffee shops in Tallahassee! A little difficult when it comes to parking, but not too bad at noon on a Thursday.

Visited on Valentine’s Day 2024. Cookies were yummy and my cortado with cinnamon brown sugar syrup was delicious!

This was my first time visiting this coffee shop. Service was friendly and atmosphere was nice, however the coffee was not good and took quite some time to be made. The parking lot can be a tight fit for larger vehicles so it might be worth to walk from another lot if it’s nearly full. I will probably give this place another try in the future.

This place was so cute, and the coffee/food was great! I enjoyed the savory bacon and cheese item, but I heard the cinnamon rolls are amazing. I will be back to try one!

1.28.24 I had my first Ground Ops experience. Firstly, I loved that the line ended at the door; one of the good signs that I may be at a top-rated spot. We were immediately greeted by staff (another plus for me). I ordered 3 cinnamon rolls & a spinach quiche slice. The quiche was divine while the rolls weren't even close. However, the atmosphere, customer service, and cleanliness of the establishment (both in/out) made for a very nice visit! My customized order of a vanilla hazelnut latte w/ almond milk was absolutely fabulous! It was so rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness and flavoring that I tipped the barista. This is one of Tally's newest gems!

This is a great little café! My boyfriend and I passed by and decided to give it a try. They had an extensive drink menu and some delicious-looking food options as well. We each got one of their seasonal drinks and breakfast rolls. The drink was incredible and the breakfast roll was unlike anything I’ve ever found at a coffee shop before - it was filling and delicious. They accidentally forgot about our food at first, but upon realizing, they prepared it right away and gave us an additional pastry as an apology. Great customer service!! The interior was decorated beautifully - there were even old photographs of the area hanging on the walls, and the owner took the time to explain the details of each photo to my boyfriend. Great place and we definitely recommend!

This is a solid coffee shop, and I would definitely come back if I’m in town again. I ordered 4 items; a sausage egg and cheese roll, a cinnamon roll (with extra icing), a hot latte large with lavender syrup, and an iced latte large with toasted marshmallow syrup. I got oatmilk in both coffees. The rolls were both extremely good and I would give it 5 stars if there was more bacon in the savory roll! But they both get a 4 star. The cinnamon was very good as well, not lacking much but warmth. The coffee was a 3 stars total. The hot latte was not very good as they put soap in it... it literally had suds coming out of it. The iced latte was much better though, and it was quite a bit of coffee to drink throughout the day. The atmosphere was very warm and comfortable. And Overall I would rate my experience a 4/5. I would definitely come back for the sweet and savory rolls (with more bacon).

This is my first time ever I got a chance to go to this most beautiful, incredible, and awesome coffee shop named “GroundOps Roastery + Bakehouse” everything just so unbelievably amazing and the most beautiful coffee shop I ever been to in Florida! All the coffees are locally freshly roasted and brewed by the owners and of course all the amazing looking desserts will just melt your heart away the minute you take a bite, super very tasty, just can’t stop eating them. All the desserts are completely made from scratch and handmade by the owners and the staff there. The coffee shop and all the friendly staff were just so extremely welcoming, heartwarming and lovely the minute I stepped into the door. Everything is so outrageously delicious and the coffee is very authenticity well done. Even though I am not a HUGE fan of coffee, but I have to admit the well brewed coffee is just perfect for my taste buds. Both in door seats and out doors are very comfortable for all ages. And most importantly of all I finally got to meet the incredible hardworking owner! I can’t wait to go again and try out more new delicious and tasty treats and coffee. Thank you GroundOps for opening up this wonderful, peaceful, collaborative coffee shop. I absolutely loved and enjoyed the beautiful environment. Come out and visit the incredibly, lovely, and soothing coffee shop named “GroundOps” and treat yourself with the most delicious and well brewed coffee and desserts that you’ll ever had in Tally. I've been to Ground Ops several times now. Each experience has been excellent. The staff is friendly, there is a good amount of seating, and the coffee is delicious. Parking is pretty good for the most part. Thanks for bringing a new coffee shop to midtown!

Great atmosphere. Cool location. Friendly staff. One of worst lattes I’ve ever had. Tasted like warm milk. My spouses white mocha latte tasted like… warm milk. I sure hope they up their espresso drink game. I’d hate to see an independent coffee place fail due to their sub-standard coffee drinks. Edit: Thanks to the owner for tracking me down for a refund (should have known a retired cop would pursue that!) I bet your brewed coffee is good, I’ll try that next time. But I would suggest you look at a different bean, roast, grind and/or brewing method for your espresso drinks. Good luck! Edit: Went back today and had just a regular coffee. Excellent.

The banana pudding is to die for! The coffee and tea are top notch, and the service is friendly and fast.

Getting in to Ground Ops Roastery was tricky the 1st time due to its location at the fork of Monroe and Thomasville, but it was worth it. Walking in, I was pleased to see large bags of Guatemalan beans; the "crown jewel of Central American coffee". I asked if that was what they used, and was told that Guatemalan was what they were currently using. Yes!!! When I got to the counter, I was disappointed to see a medium roast in the large grinder, but to my delight, I saw a small grinder with a dark, bold roast which I ordered for my Mocha. A Mocha is my afternoon drink, and though it was morning, it is also my test drink for a coffee shop. I confess that my cinnamon roll was so good and sweet that I could not make a good judgement on the Mocha which means I'll have to go back and taste my Mocha first. The cinnamon rolls are by far the best I've had at any coffee shop in Tallahassee. Real cream cheese frosting adorned the roll, and when heated, it was so scrumptious!

Great food. Service was friendly but slow and disorganized. We ordered the original cinnamon rolls, a savory roll, and Grandma's caramel apple cake and 5 drinks ($46). We got the cake when we ordered and 2 cinnamon rolls came out after a 5-10 minute wait. We only got the third one after reminding them another 10 minutes later. At 20 minutes, 1 of our 5 drinks came out. At 25 minutes we got the 2nd drink, but it was unfortunately not what we had ordered. At 30 minutes we received the last 3 drinks; everyone had already finished eating. We were told when ordering the savory roll was still in the oven and would be a few minutes. We mistakenly assumed this meant 5ish minutes. It took more than half an hour. Staff was apologetic, but I can't understand how they wouldn't know how long something would need to bake. I was very excited to try this place and we made a special trip just for this purpose. The food was great, much better than you'd get at a chain coffee place, but the experience was so frustrating, I doubt we'll be back. Also, if you're allergic to dogs, you'll want to get your order to go. The website said dogs are welcome on the patio, but there were 2 in the restaurant when we arrived. One was sitting in a fabric yellow chair, eating off the table. The chair and table had dog fur on them. I love dogs, but this is too much. The next couple that sat at the table wiped it down themselves, staff had not even noticed or cleaned up the table. That said, the rest of the restaurant seemed very clean. Perhaps we caught them on an especially bad day?

I had a taste of Christmas spirit at this coffee house today. I ordered a Cafe con leche and a savory pastry. At the time of paying, my credit cards would not work - declined by the issuer. I was very embarrassed and could not understand why; I had just activated my new cards the day before. I asked my companion if she could pay for me, but the staff would not accept payment from her either. They let me have the coffee and pastry for free. I don't remember the last time I witnessed generosity and kindness like this. I guess they figured I was embarrassed and tried to make it better. It turns out I had the old cards with me which had been deactivated the moment I activated the new ones. I will be sure to return to this place - this time, with the right cards. Heard about this place from another local business. GroundOps is inviting, has great service, and the coffee and rolls are delicious. I had a cafe con leches and a cinnamon roll, my husband had a pulled pork roll. We really enjoyed it!

Good coffee and all the food is amazing. The staff are super friendly and patient, and when I had an issue with my food they replaced it immediately and went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. Go try them out! Cinnamon rolls and savory rolls are definitely worth a visit in their own right.

Tallahassee badly needs more options for coffee shops so I was excited to hear about Ground Ops. However, when I visited I was absolutely shocked they have NO decaffeinated options. I found this to be odd since Lucky Goat, Paper Fox, even Starbucks have decaf coffee and espresso. I can’t have caffeine so I wasn’t able to enjoy the menu. Looks nice. Hope they will expand their options for customers with allergies and sensitivities.

You must try the cinnamon roll! My boyfriend and I agree it’s the best we have ever had. The coffee is delicious too and they have lots of syrups including cookie butter. I can’t wait to return to try the other treats. The staff was very sweet and welcoming.

Fantastic cup of coffee and the vibes are excellent! Service is quick, staff is friendly, and atmosphere is comfortable. Had the opportunity to have a chat with the owners wonderful Aunt Gail, truly a family business. Also be sure, to have a look at the artwork that her and her friend did just for the shop. The cinnamon roll is the best in town I’ve had in Tallahassee. Seating is plentiful and comfortable, both inside and outside. Ground Ops is an excellent addition and complement to the coffee shops in Midtown. Stop in and enjoy some of the best Tally has to offer.

Ground Ops is a wonderful and cozy little cafe. My husband and I ordered both sweet and savory rolls. My favorite by far is their original cinnamon roll. It’s sweet, chewy with the perfect amount of glaze. The Hello cake was buttery and vanilla-y. We shared a bacon egg and cheese roll which was perfectly balanced between the eggs and dough. The coffee was delicious! They have a wide variety of flavored syrups and good sized cups. We will definitely be back for more. Congratulations to Chris and his family for creating such a great place.

Not only is the quality of the coffee impeccable, can we talk about these pastries?? We got a mocha latte, a Cafe con Leche, a rum raisin Cinnamon roll and a bacon egg cheese roll. Everything was incredible, you can taste the love that this family pours into what they do! We can't wait to come back

Visiting my sister. We came up from Tampa Bay. She said you’ve got to try this place. Loved it. Savory Rolls and Cinnamon Rolls were outstanding. Wonderful atmosphere. Comfy couches just to relax with friends. Our go to when we visit again.

I visited on opening day and everything was SO delicious! I got a bacon egg and cheese roll, a nitro cold brew coffee, a garnet & gold red velvet hello cake to go. For it being their first day, their whole team worked like a well oiled machine! The line moved very quickly and they have seating inside and outside to sit and enjoy everything. Everything tasted amazing!! Will definitely be back again soon

DELICIOUS!!!! The cinnamon roll is to die for….like it’s REALLY good, and the bacon egg and cheese is the perfect mix of savory, moist, and somehow it’s a little sweet too. Not only is the food and coffee yummy, but supporting local law enforcement is a nice plus. Excited to have and support this new locally owned coffee shop!
