Super cute restaurant. Great food, perfect service. Our server (Garrett) was attentive and accommodating. He and the kitchen staff came up with a delicious wrap for my daughter because she couldn't eat any of the buns (due to a dairy allergy). We all left full and happy. The kids said we must.come back!

We had a road trip that took us to Madison. We happened upon grumpys. The food was great. The waitress was on top of every order. I wish I would've remembered her name. Very friendly atmosphere. It's so nice to find a place that friendly and inviting.

Make sure to swing by this place if you are in the area. The food was excellent and the service is fantastic. I had the "Madison Gobbler" and can't recommend it enough.

The place and food were good. The loudmouth diner talking politics loud enough to make sure everyone could hear him was very annoying.

Best burger I have had in a long time!

I love businesses that just... close whenever they feel like it, you just KNOW the food is absolutely heavenly when the staff is so casual. I personally love the grilled cheese (Swiss + motzerella and ham) genuinely some of the best grilled cheese, and for ~6 bucks.

Love the food the service and the atmosphere was all good not too pricey

Wonderful little place about two miles off the main drag. We ordered the flounder sandwich and pickle burger. Absolutely delish and friendly service too! Worth the couple mile drive off the interstate to get to. While you're in Madison, do a drive by of the court house--also really beautiful and just two blocks from Grumpy's.

Paid 41 dollars for 2 phillys with sweet potato fries and side winders fries. Most places have the fries included with sandwich unless you upgrade to a premium side. I could see paying 11 or 12 for each meal plus extra for drink. The food wasn't worth that price

Amazing, flavorful food and service! Their homemade jams are a great enhancement on their sandwiches! Tasty cheese curds too! Highly recommend.

I can always say amazing things about the service and atmosphere of this place. But I couldn't not say anything good about my lunch today. It was meatloaf Monday with mash potatoes & gravy. The potatoes were bad! There were chucks of potatoes with skin on them mixed in with a too runny mashed potatoes. I knew something was off, but I know what happened, and it didn't dawn on me until the lady behind me called the waitress over because she found a piece of foil in her mashed potatoes. They have taken the leftover baked potatoes (that are wrapped in foil) from Friday nights steak special, cut them up, and mixed them with mashed potatoes they made today. I don't know if anyone else noticed this today but it upsets me because I love Grumpy's but to let your customers eat old doctored up mashed potatoes to save a few bucks and expect someone not to notice is unsettling. No one and no restaurant is perfect, but I'm insulted! I wish I was wrong about this, but I'm not:( I'm not mad or trying to make anyone look a certain way hense the 3 stars, but this was just wrong!

One of the rare times when 5 stars is simply not enough. You will step back in time entering Grumpy's and all the songs written about the cafe on the corner will materialize in front of you as the waitress greets you with a smile that makes you feel welcome and part of the community immediately. Don't let the good ol' days service and atmosphere fool you though! The menu is a relevant mix of local favorites and thoughtful additions with something that will appeal to everyone at your table. The food was well prepared and quickly deposited on the table with a smile. Sweet tea was refilled with ninja like swiftness and a receipt presented without waiting. Payment was taken at the table and I was back out enjoying the Madison down town, refueled and enveloped in community spirit. If you live in Madison, you already know about Grumpy's. If you are traveling through, stop in and you will not regret it. If you want something inspired to engage with, Grumpy's is worth the drive. This is a small town diner - seating is limited so please plan accordingly and let the atmosphere wash over you.

We were passing through for vacation The food was AMAZING. The jam was to die for. The servers and owners are sweet as pue.and have humor to boot. I honestly wish we had a Grumpy's in huntsville,al!

Absolutely delicious! We stopped by to grab some lunch on a road trip and every member of my party sung praises for their order. I was taken aback by how cheap the price was for the quality of the food we received. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend anyone who happens to be passing by and looking for a place to eat stop by Grumpy's!

Very friendly service. The price was good. The food was excellent. I had the chicken salad sandwich. One of the best I've ever had.

Last time we were there it was a 10 This time I would not feed it to my dog. Not only was it my husband’s birthday and this is where he wanted to have breakfast. You used can spinach (you can smell it) the jalapeños were from a jar/can. Very disappointed. Grumpy you may think people that walk through your doors are ordinary people but guess what! Beware of secret shoppers!

A great local dinner. Food was very good and great service.

Two of us had the burger bowl. It was great. The smash burger was tastey and the burger toppings under the burger were fresh and crisp. I enjoyed the Grumpy sauce. My husband had the pork and rice bowl with lime beans. It was very tender and flavorful. We would definitely stop in again the next time we are in the area.

Small local restaurant. Great food, service and atmosphre. Gives you a feeling of your favorite local restaurant at home.

Food wasn’t the best but not bad. Service could have been better. Prices are terrible high for what you’re getting. Tried once before wasn’t too happy with it then, but we thought maybe they were having an off day so decided to try it again and was still not the best. Wish them the best of luck but as for for my family we won’t be back.

Took a ride on the four freedoms bike trail, and cruised through downtown for lunch. Saw the sign, chuckled and realized I had to experience it myself. Asked the waiter to order me whatever burger and side he wanted (I do that often). Ended up with the meltdown and sweet potato wedges. So good! Great find in a small town! Would return 100%! Lunch with an attitude!

Looking for somewhere different than breakfast chains for breakfast stop while traveling, decided on this place because of the name...sounded interesting and the atmosphere was. Very good place to eat and the staff is very friendly.

Great lunch on a very rainy weekend

There seemed to be one friendly dude in there. He was cooking, serving, clearing tables and at the register and did a fantastic job. Place is clean, good vibe and try the burger and fries and the corn nuggets! You get a nice serving and they are awesome!

Grumpy sauce...yummy. On our drive home to the Northeast and looking for a non chain restaurant place to eat. We made a great choice.

Food was good needs seasoning, and for the price affected more expected more. Waiter was great and gave excellent service.

Advertised as the best burger in town. We both ordered the Awesome Burger and it was so overcooked and burnt that we both couldn't eat it. . The waitress told us to ask for it medium rare next time but did not take it off. Won't be returning.

We visited the Madison area, and my husband picked this little gem. I believe the name drew him in. The food was very good and the service was friendly and quick. I had the Madison Gobler it was yummy! Would stop again if in the area.

Loved the chicken and rice soup.The fried corn nuggets were addicting. Sweet tea with lemon awesome!! You guys have a great little restaurant. We were visiting from Ga. Really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely eat with you again!!

The food was decent but took a while to get things… some food was cold when we got it. It was the day after Christmas and we showed up with a large party. They told us they could cater to us on the phone but still had to wait half an hour to be seated.

Truly a locals spot, but we felt very welcome. Amy was great and we left with full bellies.

Nice place with great food and service. Tip, use the second bathroom down the hall. The toilet is ginormous.

Came from Jacksonville and wanted to try this place because of the name. Thought it was cute. Lol Was super impressed! Atmosphere, clientele, and the food was incredible. Never had anything like I did there. PLEASE try the fried pickle burger. Omg lol The owner was the nicest woman I have ever met. She chatted with us like old friends. Please go out of your way to try this place. You won’t regret it.

I was disappointed that burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches didn't come with fries. At 9.29 for a sandwich, fries should come with it.

Food was ok, but I was very irritated sin e I ordered a meal and asked for no bacon. I told the waitress that I did not eat pork, and my sandwich still came with pork on it...she offered to remake it and then once she bring it back and I opened it to straighten it up BACON was sitting right there. I normally don't make reviews but this irritated me because why offer to do something nd then still give someone something they asked not for, then forgot my fries with my meal and I had to go ask for them after waiting 10 mins

Saturday October 14 2023 at 1:00pm order put in. Served at 1:09pm fast service. Very nice and friendly staff. The food is perfection.our server was (Amy) was very good and attentive. Very good experience for old time cafe...One Florida's lost southern delights.

We arrived right after a mad rush of mothers and kids after an athletic event. Husband loved his burger and lemonade and my chicken tenders were just ok.

I won't call it the best food I've ever had, but I do enjoy their breakfast. The sausage is not something I enjoy but the bacon is good. All in all, a great breakfast spot.

My brother and I were traveling on Interstate 10 and looking for something different to eat. He searched for restaurants near us, and when he read the name Grumpy’s Diner, I am mediately said “that’s the one.” The waitress recommended the Fried Pickle Burger, and we both decided to give it a try. The combination of flavors was amazing, and we both said that was quite possibly the best hamburger we’ve ever eaten. I also ordered the caramel cheesecake. As you can see from the picture, the presentation was fantastic (including the dessert plate with a paper plate design on it), but I’m more interested in taste. After the first couple of bites, I said that it was quite possibly the best dessert I have ever had as well.

I forgot how good this place was. I had a breakfast sandwich. I asked for the egg to be cooked over medium instead of over hard as the menu showed. The egg was cooked perfectly, and the bacon was crisp but not overcooked. The service was great.

Grumpy Burger out of this world

The Madison Gobbler sandwich was excellent, especially the jam! Food got 4 stars because some of the lettuce in the salad was wilted and it comes from a bag. If the salad had included the fresh lettuce that was on my sandwich, then we'd be at 5 stars. The service and atmosphere were a perfect small-town feel. Worth the drive away from the interstate!
