My wife and I had a lovely experience at the Hillbrook Inn. The service was perfect and the value was amazing as well. We had dinner and breakfast (of course) at the inn, both of which were highlights for us. We hope to be back soon.

Me and my husband wanted to get away for a quiet weekend away from the kids. I came across Hillbrook through online search and it looked exactly what I wanted. I was trying to figure out the layout of the property to best plan spa time, dinner time etc. I have attached the map of their properties for a better understanding. Note: the off site properties are not within walking distance since you have to go back out to the main road. It didn't bother us at all but I could see some people not wanting to drive those main windy roads late. I splurged on the Sunset Suite at Farmhouse which was a beautiful room within a gorgeous little colonial house. I paid the $25 early check in (why not?!) so we arrived at 1:30pm. The gas fireplace was not working which was disappointing because that was a reason I booked the room about but they did give me a $50 credit when my husband called. The spa was cute. We had a couples massage and it was okay. For the price I'd give the spa experience a 3 out of 5, def not bad, but def not something I'd write home about. We were really excited about dinner. Both of us worked in hospitality, so we appreciate good service and these days it's hard to find! The little tavern bar is nice while you wait to be seated. HOWEVER lucky us.. this happened to be the night the chef and manager get in a huge fight in the kitchen, chef walks out, kitchen is in chaos and let's just say our expensive dinner had to be boxed up along with dessert because it was 9:20 (we sat at 7:30) and still didn't have main course. We had a decanter of wine on the table so we were fine BUT this is not a late spot and by about 9p we were the only ones left except for one table leaving after getting bunch of things comped and lots of apologies. So we paid for 4 course dinners and we had tomato soup and appetizers. BTW if anyone from Hillbrook reads this, the waitress we had 8/30 did a fabulous job of trying to keep things together while we knew it was mayhem... and she was new! Boxed pasta wasn't really the experience I was looking for and of course we never even ate any of it BUT I was not complaining about anything on this trip. I didn't even want to look at the folio the next morning because I know it would get on my nerves and we had 2 more days at Bavarian Inn ahead of us. I just thought they would notice that we didn't get dinner and credit something. I mean the dining experience was supposed to be the focal point. This is a really cute relaxing getaway though.

My wife and I just spent two nights in the West Suite in the Hawthorn House for an anniversary weekend. Everything exceeded our expectations! The food was excellent, the service was outstanding and the couples massage was the perfect ending to our stay. The location of the Inn was perfect for our hiking and biking plans in Harpers Ferry and on the C&O Canal Towpath. The guest services team went above and beyond with their daily text messages and their call to see if we wanted an earlier dinner reservation. A special thank you to Emma, Blake, Cathy, Jessie, Katie and Deb who all made us feel very special with their excellent service. We highly recommend Hillbrook Inn & Spa for your special getaway. Thanks!

My wife and I recently stayed at this beautiful Inn. We had the "Fall cottage" and found the accommodation superb. Very quiet and relaxing. The room was beautifully furnished and a short walk from the main house. All the staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to be courteous and helpful. The grounds are delightful and a pleasure to stroll around. Breakfast was wonderful, cooked to perfection, with a good variety of items to choose from. Dinner was equally delightful and served in the beautiful restaurant. The food was well prepared and delicious. The staff in the restaurant were professional yet charming - all the ingredients for a delightful dining experience. The Hillbrook is definitely the place to go for a tranquil break with good food and excellent accommodation all in one place. We will be returning for another stay in the near future.

Beautiful inn just outside Charles Town. The rooms were spacious with an awesome bathroom with a huge soaking tub. Unfortunately it was raining most of the time I was there so I didn't get the opportunity to walk around the grounds but what i could see looked great. Had a massage and facial while I was there and both were reasonably priced and the service was incredible. Food was good but not great. Breakfast is included and it was delicious with everything cooked perfectly. Dinner was good but was a little overpriced. Had ala carte one night and the tasting menu with the wine pairing another. The wine was good and the selections did go with each course. The perogies with ramp pesto was very good. The lamp chops were a little undercooked. The desert was supposed to be a chocolate lava cake but there was no liquid center. Really came down to it wasn't really worth the cost as the meals were very pricey compared to equivalent places I have eaten at in NOVA. The staff were incredible. Even though the rooms were good the price doubles on the weekend which again is not an appropriate price point the place.

I booked a trip as a birthday gift and requested that all final charges (hotel and restaurant) be directed to me. I was guaranteed that this would not be a problem and was explicitly told again and again that I would absolutely and without exception receive the final check. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The person I was treating paid for hotel charges and for dinner. When I realized what had happened, I was deeply disappointed and called to follow up in an effort to correct the error. A curt and seemingly agitated staff person took my call and essentially hung up on me after I left a message requesting to speak with the person I had booked with. The person I originally made the booking with ultimately returned my call and said that they would work to reverse the mistake and charge my card instead (as was originally planned). I received a voicemail the next day saying that the charge could not be reversed and that I would have to take the matter up with the birthday guest directly. Awkward. And also, no thank you. Birthday present ruined. Let me just say this, I am extremely disappointed in the break down and failure of this simple request. I have made similar arrangements in the past at other venues, both hotels and restaurants, and have had zero problems. I called multiple times in advance to ensure that everything was properly arranged. It was my hope and goal to treat someone very special to me. Despite my expressed wishes and explicit requests, that did not happen here, leaving a mess that could not be repaired. If you are hoping to book something special as a gift, I suggest you do that elsewhere.

The grounds were absolutely lovely, and the cottage was enchanting. They raised the bar on being pet friendly: there was a cute pet station prepared for our dog, complete with two dog treats. The only minor complaints I have are with the service. Overall, service was quite lovely. However, the early morning noise of construction and landscaping wasn't a pleasant alarm. Also, the email stated that checkout was from 3pm-7pm, and no one disabused us of the notion. Regrettably, housekeeping opened the door I hadn't answered because I was in the shower around noon and informed me that checkout was actually at 11am. They also charged the full cost of the room, food, and spa services to the card on file, which felt a bit presumptuous. I'm used to places checking before taking the full payment. Our mostly lovely stay ended on a sour note.

Hillbrook Inn is a beautiful, boutique Inn with antique decor and quite a unique history. The grounds are lovely and quiet, with many places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. We stayed in the Bamford Suite which was beautifully appointed with everything needed to make ours a relaxing and comfortable stay. The Rest and Rejuvenate package made our stay even more relaxing with a couple's massage and Chef's selection dinner, as well as a tasty charcuterie tray in our room. Very quaint country Inn. Lovely setting. The staff was so helpful and engaging. The dinner food was average. The breakfast was lovely. The avocado Toast was my favorite meal. We stayed in the main house. I was in the LOOKOUT room which was small but comfortable. There were lots of steps so make sure that you are aware of that before booking your room. My Mom was in another room (can't recall the name). It was spacious and lovely. It was right off of one of the dining areas which felt a little awkward at times, but it was fine. The spa services was good. Not out of this world, but still very nice. I would recommend this Inn if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway.

I took my wife of 28 years here and we had an awesome weekend. We stayed in Suite E which is in a beautiful house about 3 miles from the main property. The drive to another property wasn't apparent from the website, but it wasn't a big deal, and it helped to get us out and about in the morning. Breakfast is included and is menu-based with a good variety of dishes, as well as add-ons to cover most other wants/needs. All staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. Had the 4 course dinner on one of the nights and we thought it was exceptional other than the lava cake (slightly overcooked outside, cool inside). Chef's selections show originality, variety, excellent presentation, and perfect flavor pairing.Portions for this dinner are not huge, but they shouldn't be (unless you're triple whopper kind of person), and overall it was filling. We had a couples massage on arrival and another on departure, both were excellent. Also ordered flowers and charcuterie plate for arrival and both were of high quality. Area attractions an aplenty for those that like outdoor activities. Check out the ZipLining Canopy tour in Harper's Ferry, we had a blast! We will definitely be going back!

I took my wife there for her birthday. We did the couples massage, which was very nice, along with the girls who did the massage. The location was nice and was set back in. We stayed in the Serenity room, which was actually located above the spa, which made it nice to just walk down to the spa. The service for both our dinner and breakfast the following morning was excellent. The dinner menu is somewhat limited, only about 4 or 5 entrees. We had the New York Strip, which was very good. the servings for the vegetables were pretty small, but good. I had the crab soup for an appetizer and that was amazing. Had the eggs benedict for breakfast, which was very good, and the coffee was very good as well. Atmosphere was very good, nice and relaxing. There wasn't a lot of people dining while we were there. We would definitely go back again.

MORE AT Google

We stayed at the Hillbrook Inn for 1 night. We did stay in one of the least expensive rooms, the Lookout Room, since it was just an overnight stay but that being said I think that we should have been given the same basic amenities that are in other rooms. It was disappointing that there were no cups in the bathroom to use nor any facial tissues anywhere in the room. The heat in the bathroom was way to high and made it feel like a sauna. It could not be adjusted so leaving the door open then heated the entire room. Luckily I was able to get the wall unit to blow cool air which helped. The most upsetting thing about the room was the amount of stink bugs that were in there. They were in the bedroom area and the bathroom. I killed about 5 of them. Not sure how they were getting in since none of the windows were open. It was late and we didn't see any more before going to sleep otherwise I was going to call customer service and asked to be switched to another room. I did speak to someone in the morning when we checked out. She was very understanding and apologetic toward the situation and did give us a credit toward our bill to compensate for it which we appreciated. The Inn itself was very nice. Huge dining areas, a very nice lounge/tavern to sit and talk, have a drink and play some games. Breakfast was very good also. A couple of final comments about our room. First thing is you can not be too tall to stay in this room since the ceiling is pitched in a few areas making it a bit hard to enter the room and then to walk around the bed. I had to duck and im only 5'7". Also the room faces the front entrance to the tavern where there is a very big and bright lamp post which shines directly into the window next to the bed. The blackout shades do little to block the light since they were not install very well leaving a gap between them and the window frame and no additional curtain to draw over them.

Charming inn located near Harper’s Ferry, WV. The gracious, attentive service was a huge factor in how much we enjoyed our two-night stay. Our room was in the Hawthorne house, which was a two-mile drive from the main building. That fact was a surprise when we checked in, but we adjusted to it easily. The room was lovely with a large bathroom and a gas fireplace. Julie, the caretaker of our building, was very helpful in making sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The breakfasts that were included in the price of our room were outstanding, as we were able to order from a menu with several different options. We would definitely recommend and hope to return.

My husband and I drove 4 hours to spend 3 nights at Hillbrook in. The place has indeed a beautiful landscape, its historical building brings you back in time. It is very quiet and peaceful. The only thing you hear are birds and frogs singing. The workers were nice and Katie the server was spectacular. But there were many other things that let us down. We did the tasting menu of 4 courses. It wasn’t cheap, 95 dollars per person. The description wasn’t accurate and the food was not what you expect in a tasting menu. Nobody pays 100 dollars to eat 1 ounce of chicken for the first course, pasta with tomate sauce and some kind of beef (the course was named ossobuco) for the second course and 2 ounces of raw lamb for the third course and to finalize, chocolate cake with ice cream. Another thing was the mattress in our room it was extremely soft. The third night I slept on the couch. Also I expected a higher quality of a hair dryer. The one in the room literally burned my hands.

This is a charming country B&B. The food was good to great -- Old Bay crab bisque was a standout and the included breakfast was fantastic. The service in the restaurant was exceptional. The friends I was traveling with didn't love their rooms, but I had the Bamford Suite, which was spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. We arrived early for our weekend getaway, intending to hang out together (and get to our spa services, which were good), but the one small but cozy lobby area was fully occupied by a wedding, which we walked right into. Awkward! Overall, we had a nice time, but stars off for two problems 1) the hotel staff was a bit standoffish and 2) billing problems. The fact that they overcharged me by $545 (!) was bad enough, but their initial reaction when I followed up was sort of "too bad, so sad." It worked out fine in the end, but left us not in a hurry to go back.

This is a difficult review for me to do as I had a wonderful time at a wedding. I say this because the people who work there did the best they could do with what they had. What I want to stress is that because of miserable cold, rain, and wind...the entire ceremony had to be done indoors. The building is an older 'mish-mosh' of old buildings or rooms added on over the years. The history of this place immediately goes back to George Washington owning the land, which is true, but ultimately historically meaningless for the building of the ceremony was held was built in the early 1920's. The rooms are small and fairly well maintained with a few rough areas like worn-out steps needing paint or some other coating. Also, the desk area of the concierge was cluttered with boxes and the brochure rack was more empty than utilized. What I would say is that the employees did a wonderful job with Jade being versatile and wonderfully nice in the many roles she handled while there. I would suggest that this place be utilized as long as your overall ceremony is less than 25 people in total. It is just too small to hold any more than that amount. I would strongly suggest more signage as every single person that drove here stopped at the first building not knowing it was not the correct building. Zero signage as we drove onto the property. It was a nice place but there were too many little details to prevent me from giving 5 stars.

Hidden Gem: I wanted to surprise my wife to a weekend getaway and came across Hillbrook Inn and saw only one room available, Sunrise, so decided to jump on the opportunity and boy, did we have a wonderful experience. The trip wasn't far and it was outside of Charles Town, WV. We were seen right away to check-in with easy instructions to our room, which you will need to drive to as it may be 5-10 minutes away. The room was lovely and we were able to enjoy a cheeseboard and a bottle of their red wine. We went back to the main house and enjoy a cocktail at their bar inside where we entered to check-in earlier that day. The bar tender had a lovely selection of specialty drinks. The best part is next, we had dinner reservations at their main restaurant and the Chef's menu was absolutely amazing. The entrees were a pierogi (excellently prepared I promise), wild boar ragu with pasta, a nice beef tenderloin and a lava cake. Our server, decantor a red pinor noir from Willamette Valley, which was a lovely pairing for the dishes. We retired for the evening and woke up the next morning, where we enjoyed their complementary breakfast and it did not disappoint. The biscuit and gravy was wonderful and the American breakfast was prepared perfectly. Their coffee was a wonderful light blend too. Afterwards, I enjoyed a facial with one of their spa employees and she did an amazing job as well. We cannot thank the employees enough and highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a place to get away. Thank you!

This is a very nice bed and breakfast. The grounds are lovely. The food was also excellent. The wine pairing with the chefs tasting menu was then desirable. The pours were very small and the explanations of the wines were bleak at best. I think they put an inexperienced employee in charge of this when I was there. Best eggs Benedict I've had in a long time. The couples massage was also amazing. Staff was overall very friendly and they certainly over-communicate via email/text. :-) Minor CONS: The suite was very nice overall but there was no way to control temperature in the room. So it fluctuated between incredibly warm, and then having to open windows to cool it off, and then being too cold. Had a billing snafu at the end, which they partially addressed. But I was overcharged by about $60 for the weekend above the package price. In the end I let it go and didn't feel like arguing the point. But do check your bill when you check out for complete accuracy.

I am a designer, chef and restauranteur, and I found the ability of the kitchen to execute a menu at the level that they were for the amount of people that they were, an insane accomplishment, including being able to execute a zero proof cocktail with the same level of skill as one with alcohol… super impressive from the service, the decor!!!!, the layout, everything about this place was absolutely top-notch. Which is a really hard thing to accomplish post pandemic in this economy, etc. etc. I would also like to give accolades to creating a space in which a woman can be traveling alone and feel just as special as couples that may be staying and safe. We got bombarded with emails and texts before our arrival. They do love their texting. The food is ok, the chef has a penchant for burying mediocre entres with tons of overly strong and intense reductions and sauces. He also liked candied whatevers... lots of sugar and sweet. Overall, a very limited menu and expensive. They dont have house wines, instead directing you to buy over priced wines by the glass. And, you are stuck with assigned meal times with apparently one room eating every 15 minutes. We hardly ever saw more than a few people in the dining room, not that busy really. Our room had a light out. New Years day was cold out and our room got very cold. There is no thermostat in the room. We tried to light the fireplace but mostly there were several warnings to make sure the flue was open, when after a call, we found out, the flue was fastened open. There were no instructions, just warning about the flue. We finally figured it out and got it lit. It would have been nice to have instructions for lighting it. We left for lunch (fireplace off) and when we returned, the room was really hot. Apparently someone had found and turned up the thermostat. I went in search of the thermostat and found it in a nearby hallway and finally got our room to a pleasant temperature. The TV is a low res flatscreen led with basically shopping channels and CNN, not my idea of free tv. The doors provide minimal security at best, with no deadbolt or anything. There are no safes in the rooms. It would have been nice if they had hosted something for New Years eve. Many of the rooms are in buildings a mile and a half away over very narrow country winding roads. So you need to get ready for dinner, go out in the cold wet weather, drive to dinner and return, not that exciting in cooler weather.

What a lovely stay! Hillbrook has standout customer service. The concierge answered all our questions and walked us through the grounds at check in. Since I am gluten free and marked my allergy in my booking the servers noted it and made sure my allergy was accommodated. They also served the most amazing gluten free bread cooked in house. We decided to also dine at the restaurant and the food was well presented but as others have noted, its overpriced for the potions. We stayed at the Farmhouse, which has spacious rooms and a nice attached sitting room. The decor did give me the impression the room was basic, not very fancy. But it was comfortable. Additionally there are no rooms with tubs, and I like a good soak on vacation. Also it's a 6 min drive from the main house so I feel being charged for the resort fee isn't a fair deal since you aren't on the grounds or able to enjoy the resort amenities unless you drive there! Overall I would stay again but I'd stay on the grounds and in a better room. Kudos to all the good service!

Amazing place with amazing people. We just spent a romantic getaway at The Hillbrook Inn. We stayed in the South Suite at the Hawthorn House location, enjoyed a wine tour, pampered ourselves with a couple massage and had a delicious dinner in the main house. Everything was top notch, especially the service! A special thank you to the owners, Jade, Christien, Julie, Deb, and Lisa for making our mini vacation excellent. We will definitely be back in the future, and may bring the family.H

This place was amazing. The beautiful grounds that were steeped in a wonderful history were breathtaking. We stayed in the cottage on the grounds since we were traveling with our pet. The rooms summer, fall and winter were all immaculate. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. We also had dinner one night that was wonderful. The entire staff were pleasant and always greeted you and wished you well. It was a wonderful experience and I hope to return next year. We enjoyed our brief stay at the Hillbrook Inn. We found our room to be cozy and inviting, the staff to be exceptional, and breakfasts to be delicious and filling. The Hillbrook Inn appears to be an old estate: there are many elegant touches and the whimsical architecture adds to the ambiance. It is evident that a great deal of care and expense has gone into modernizing the buildings. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We stayed in the Bamford Suite. Blake showed us around our room, and was quite thorough in explaining things. We should have asked a few more questions, however. There is a charming fireplace in the suite: operating it is less than intuitive. Blake was wonderful in returning and sorting things out for us. Sadly, neither my wife nor I could get the heat to work properly. When we mentioned it Joyce (?) the following morning she came up and gave us a quick lesson. Also, we could not have known that my wife would find the mattress hard: our room attendant promptly got a mattress topper for the next night. Breakfasts were wonderful, both in terms of variety and flavor. Service was impeccable. The Hillbrook Inn is a bit pricey, but in terms of elegance and service it was worth it: you get what you pay for. To sum it up: The Hillbrook Inn is a beautiful, elegant venue that provides exceptional service. We think that you will find, as we did, that The Hillbrook Inn leaves you with a very pleasant, very memorable experience.

What can I say about this place? Beautiful views. Nature all around, plenty to see on the property. Quiet area to get away from the city. The room was cute, BUT dusty. The room had a lower, leaning wall, like an attic, which was inconvenient for me as a tall person. My boyfriend's 8 inches taller than me, so I took the low side. The bathroom could have looked better. Looking at the toilet brush took away something for me. We were looked at strangely. I'm guessing not too many black people visit this place. Especially a mixed couple. On the plus side, the guests in the room next to us were very friendly and we loved the breakfast there. The best poached eggs, smoked salmon, and potatoes!

I stayed in hillbrook inn many moons ago, it is not far from dc but offers a totally relaxing vibe, and the gourmet breakfast was marvelous. I have stayed at the guest house above the spa and a small room in the main house. This time I feel the same wv warmth and hospitality. Better communication and text alert. However I guess everyone is suffering from the shrinkflation. The room rate doesn't seem to have increased a lot compared to other places. I stayed at hawthorn place this time. It is Gorgeous, quiet and scenic. However the Wi-Fi turned out to be spotty probably won't do for a staycation. The mattress could use a replacement as it is so sunken. And the breakfast has changed from the gourmet 3 course I remembered to a free selection from the menu. Of course you can add more and pay the diff. I really appreciate the management has kept the place so tidy and beautiful as always. especially Blake who has helped me above and beyond for the stay. please replace the sunken mattress and boost up the Wi-Fi. Other than that it is almost perfect. I really want to return for a staycation.

Booked a surprise birthday weekend for my boyfriend and left with a fiancé... He didn't have a clue where I was taking him but he said once we arrived, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to propose there. We started the weekend off with a couples massage followed by dinner at the Main House. The food was incredible along with the service. We then had a few drinks at the bar and Christian, the bartender made our experience at The Hillbrook even better! He has such a contagious positive attitude and we loved getting to know him. We stayed in the Hawthorne West Suite which is located about 2 miles from the main property, it was breathtaking and so peaceful. Saturday we went on a wine tour with Jade, she was so pleasant with filling us in on the history of the property and surrounding areas. All weekend we kept saying how the property felt like a fairytale. We will 100% be back, it was magical in every way possible! I cannot recommend more.

I just returned from a two-night stay at the Hillbrook Inn and I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with my time there. My room (Bamford) was beautifully decorated as well as spotless. The grounds are simply stunning. I had planned on exploring the region, but it was so wonderful I couldn't bear to leave the property! There are trails and many little features such as a lovely bridge over a creek. The spa was marvelous, and I really enjoyed my massage. But the two places where the Hillbrook Inn really blew me away were the exquisite food and the exemplary staff. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent--familiar enough to be inviting but inventive enough to make one curious to try something new. Every interaction I had with members of the staff was perfect, literally perfect. Responsive, kind, and above all else, thoughtful. I've been traveling for a year and Hillbrook is in my top three lodging experiences. I cannot wait to book my next visit!

We just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Hillbrook Inn. While we had high expectations before our arrival, those expectations were universally exceeded. The Hillbrook Inn is a great escape from the stresses of daily life. We stayed in the "Overlook" room in the main lodge. The photos on their website accurately illustrate the charming nature of this room. Although what can't be shown in photos is how comfortable the bed was -- great linens. Please note that the access to Overlook is via a series of wooden stairs on the outside of the building. It's great for privacy but would be a difficult if you're mobility challenged. The restaurant was excellent. While the choices were limited the execution was superior. The real surprise with respect to the restaurant were the creative choices on the included, cook to order, breakfast menu. I had Eggs Benedict but the banana crepes were tempting. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her quinoa bowl. I would be remiss to not mention Christian, our bartender. His hospitality and creative cocktails made a memorable stay that much better. Thank you! Finally, how much did we enjoy our stay? We've already booked a long weekend to return in November.

Wow. Just wow. When you drive up, it looks like a fairytale house. The rest of the visit stays with that feeling. We only were there for one night but the room, dinner and breakfast were amazing. Staff was wonderful. The room we stayed on over the lobby might not be for everyone. It is a converted attic and 100% finished and beautiful but sloping ceilings would be a challenge for anyone tall. Dinner was outstanding and breakfast just as wonderful. We'll be back for sure. For a super fun excursion like nothing you have ever done before book a hike with llamas at Double 8 alpaca farm about 15 minutes away.

We had a lovely time at the Hillbrook Inn for our quick honeymoon escape after our wedding in DC. We stayed at the Summer Cottage, which is a large room that is part of a separate building on the main grounds (within 1-min walking distance from the main building). The Cottage has excellent air conditioning, was free of bugs, and had a modernized bathroom. The gas fireplace worked well too. We took advantage of a great massage at the spa, as well as the excellent dining at the restaurant (note: on the expensive side but very worth it for one night!), enjoyed the bar, and the firepit outside in the late hours too. We highly recommend the Inn, it was really lovely.

The restaurant at the Hillbrook Inn was quite the experience! We were a table for 7, and we were almost in a private room (beautifully decorated) which was lovely, but it was difficult to navigate all of the stairs. I'm not sure what they would have done to accommodate us if a member of our party had mobility issues. The 4 stars comes from the lack of ease/weirdness of layout. However, some may find the layout very charming. Our server was wonderful and the food quite delicious. Between the 7 of us we sampled every item on the à la carte menu and I was impressed by everything. I started with the cheese plate which was very tasty, particularly the house-made focaccia. The local beef tenderloin was fabulous, but the Peruvian potatoes were just "meh". The potatoes aren't meant to be the star though, so I'm hardly complaining. The strawberry shortcake dessert was positively DIVINE. There's plenty of parking outside of the restaurant and the grounds are beautiful. We will certainly return!

Just returned from spending our 25th Anniversary at the Inn. The main building is breathtaking and we were able to find some details about the history of the property on the website after doing a specific Google search vs finding it on the site menu. We had a wonderful time, but did have to “ignore” some things that were unexpected given that the Inn boasts about its luxury. We stayed in the Winter cottage and agree with a previously reviewer that it has not been fully renovated. The bathroom has, but the main room is dated. The upholstered chairs were not those pictures on the website and were very worn. The rug is quite old as well. A little bit of touch up paint around the room would make a big difference. The cottage had a bit of a “musty” smell. Not sure if due to allowing pets and then not cleaned well enough after or because the room humidity level was high. Without the overhead fan on (we discovered), the room was so humid that the tile floor became wet and slippery. The air conditioning was on. The cottage location was great- very quiet and loved the private outdoor covered porch. A couple of issues with service as well- there was a to-go box with salmon inside left in our fridge. We had early check-in so there was a housekeeping staff member close by cleaning one of the other rooms. I took the box out to her and explained that it came from our fridge. She was nice but no apology. On our first morning there we came back from breakfast after our room was “fluffed” and still had dirty glasses and no replacement of bottled water in fridge- the couple of things we needed most. Stopped in and spoke with concierge Joyce and she took the details and it was taken care of but again no apology. Service in dining room wonderful as was in the Tavern before dinner. The food was very good- have to say that the donut holes served before breakfast entrees were not cooked all the way through some of the time and did not have much taste. The Hollandaise sauce of eggs Benedict was over-salty, even for my salty tastes. We had the striped Bass entree for our anniversary dinner. It was good, but not amazing. Wish I had gotten the tenderloin but wanted to try something different. All in all we enjoyed our time there but it was not as special as we thought it would be.

Booked a Babymoon night for myself and my wife in tthe Overlook which included a couples massage. First vacation we have ever had in years and we were very excited. The couples massage was excellent and professional. Cindy and Lisa were masterful. We had a fantastic time there which I would highly recommend. However, the night in the Overlook was dreadful to be frank for the following main reasons: 1) The room was dusty, humid, and very hot (AC was not efficiently working). The view was obscured by spider webs in the windows and one of the shades are broken — Overlook name for the room is an overstatement. 2) The bed was lumpy and hard on one side and mushy on the other — not comfortable at all. The pillows had no support and offered no comfort. 3) The bathroom had dust caked on the exhaust and the shower was dirty with hair on the wall of the shower. 4) Since the concierge’s desk closes after 8pm we couldn’t get assistance with getting more pillows or help to resolve some of our issues. So, after trying to fall asleep for 3-4hrs, my wife and I had had enough and decided to just leave and drive back home as early as possible. We had to call the after hours phone line to get clarity on how to check out earlier and where to leave the keys. The grounds are nice and rustic but the rooms at Hillbrook Inn are not comfortable to be in, let alone sleep in, which in my mind is an essential for a four star resort.

I was lucky enough to dine at the Hillbrook Inn, I have to say the service and the food were impeccable. I ordered the tasting menu, and each course was better than the last. Chef Timothy Rampey's pairings and presentation is out of this world. I travel frequently to big cities and dine in many restaurants, and I must say this is one of the finest meals I have ever experienced. Also, my granddaughter was with me, and Chef Rampey made her a butter and cheese noodle plate that was insanely good. My granddaughter who is a picky eater, could not get enough of it. Honestly, everything was cooked to perfection, run don't walk to the Hillbrook Inn.
