Hilstone is the amazing place for a date night or business meeting. I love seating at the bar and watch people. The cheeseburger is the best in Miami! You really can’t beat this place. I love the atmosphere and the service. The service is always top notch. Attentive, but discrete, love it! Come and check it out yourself.

I am giving this restaurant a five star because of my waitress Whitney. She was amazing, her customer service was PHENOMENAL and her suggestions really made our dinner a plus.

Beautiful Restaurant no doubt. Shame the food is so bad. I had the burger thinking this is an American restaurant, the burger most be amazing! It was tasteless. Not even salt helped. The service was uptight and emotionless. (I think they train their servers to be this way). Maybe they could smile once in a while? This would be a good example of why mandatory tipping is just plain wrong. Good Margarita though and for 20 bucks it damn well should be!

I’m extremely disappointed. I’ve eaten here at least 40+ times. The caliber of service was abominable and unrecognizable. I’m shocked — I will not dine again for a very long time.

The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable. However, I am giving this place 1 star solely because of the manager. When I arrived, the host asked me to remove my hat, which I did without any issue. After sitting down and ordering, the manager kept looking at me and eventually sent the host over to ask if I had something to cover up (I came straight from the beach to the restaurant). I understand there might be a dress code, but I was not informed about it before being seated. This made me feel very uncomfortable. Throughout the meal, the manager continued to glance at me repeatedly. At the end of our meal, I spoke to him about how this made me feel. Rather than apologizing, he simply said, "Sorry, we did not catch it." The manager is not fit to run this restaurant and should learn to do his job better.

The food was good, the service was very quick, but the noise and business of the place detracted from the ambience. The service was so prompt that I felt a little rushed. The chicken sandwich was huge and came with good fries. An order of deviled eggs is 3 pieces. (I would think that including the other half of rhe 2nd egg would be natural, but we ordered a double order to make up for it. Overall, a decent spot for a quick bite. Emphasis on the quick!

Had a very bad experience with the restaurant and his staff. We arrive for lunch in this place that was quite empty but we were refused to seat in a table… guess why? We were with a baby and a stroller ! It s forbidden in the restaurant ! There are lots of good and more friendly restaurant, please avoid this one !

Wonderful food, but the service is very bad

A nice inviting restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Bal Harbor Mall. There is indoor and quasi-outdoor seating but the indoor is more elegant. The food was very good — my wife loved her vegetarian hamburger which was very unique with the peppers. My French roast beef au jus and the creamed polenta was wonderful. Prices were moderate and the service was very professional. Highly recommended.

I made a reservation for my son’s 24 birthday while I’m on the other side of the continent, they accommodate them last night for a party of 5 , order all their favorite meals such as New York strip - sushi-salads!! As always they are impeccable with their food & service, We have been going to Hillstone in coral gables for last 25 years since my kids were in strollers. THANK YOU HOUSTON-HILLSTONE for so many memories.

The food is good/normal, but the service was so bad or at least what it was like for me, I obviously went with my two daughters, they are quiet girls but they are girls and they were so unpleasant to them, that if they made noise or if They had a high iPad, when at the next table there were 3 young people screaming not talking... I would never go back

The best burgers I have ever eaten! I and my husband have to drive here about 45-60 minutes, but it definitely worth it! The atmosphere is super nice, the service is excellent.

They kick you out after you order for wearing a hat. They didn’t even mention before sitting you down. They should have mentioned that, guess they wanted to get that sale first.

I just had the most delicious lunch of my life!!!! Tia was so attentive, friendly, and gave us the best recommendations for our first time here!! I highly recommend the coconut shrimp roll, mango roll- sushi is the best here and spinach -artichoke dip!! Top off your meal with the most delicious candied walnuts and homemade whipped cream, with dark chocolate vanilla sundae. What a delight!!

Excellent place and very good food! To repeat!

My father recently lost his wife and I took him here to try and cheer him up. We had reservations and waited less than 10 mins. The food was good, but the atmosphere and service were OUTSTANDING. I couldn’t have asked for better service and kinder staff. Five stars well deserved.

The food is very delicious...the team is very friendly...and the service is fast...I strongly recommend visiting this restaurant.

If I could leave negative stars I would. I legit found a LIVING SNAIL in my food. If I was not picking the vegetables I did not like off my burger I would have eaten it. I brought this to my servers attention who then called the manager and all they offered was free desert and the burger to be taken off my tab. While this is a health hazard and is not up to the state’s department of health standard, I expected all my tab to be taken care of. Because of this, I will be reporting them to the health department.

The least tasteful hillstone I've ever eaten. The beef ribs were too dry, the kale salad is bland with no interesting flavours or texture. What a pity.

I was craving something sweet and was pleasantly surprised by how this delicious Tres Leches!!! I'm still thinking about it ... I don't care how full you are, you MUST order this dessert after your main course. Thank me later

Exceptionally beautiful restaurant with warm wood everywhere including the lights and the work area for staff, (which could have served as a staging area to enter rather than the way to the bathroom). Lots of rules: no arriving late (your reservation is automatically cancelled after 15 minutes), no sports wear, no hats, no filming. Not strict about smallish outfits on biggish figures, jeans, or untucked shirts though. No wine list. Strange for such a stylish place with so many rules. But they do have wines by the glass which are also available by the bottle. (Corporate keeling it simple?) 8 of each colour. our server was lovely, patient and kind. But knew nothing about wine. But I did, so not taking the recommended rosé was okay. The wine by the glass arrived in a dollar store wine glass that most resembled a mug and contained half a bottle of something since it came already poured. Who knows what it was? The food loves to be eaten with kale apparently which chopped up with cabbage accompanied all the dishes. Which is why we skipped dessert. To be fair, we didn’t ask for the dessert menu, so probably not. It’s a restaurant that doesn’t know what it is and clearly has achieved that goal. Sushi, sashimi, fries, burgers, sandwiches, salads, ribs, salmon with appalling approach to wine. 3/5 is generous because of the decor. Food and wine rates a 1 star.

This place is pretty good however, lately they’ve been cutting items from the menu and the items that they do have are limited so make sure you call before coming because you may not get what you want. It’s not comparable to the others.

Located in the beautiful Bal Harbour area, Hillstone is a delightful spot for those craving American food and Japanese cuisine. My lunch experience began with a fresh and satisfying spicy tuna roll paired with a perfectly crafted spicy margarita cocktail, setting the tone for an enjoyable meal. The prime center cut filet stole the show, cooked to my desired temperature and expertly seasoned. While the creamy polenta didn't quite win me over, the steamed broccoli provided a refreshing and well-balanced side. Overall, Hillstone at Bal Harbour offers a good dining experience with its delicious offering support .

Subpar american food and staff. This was my first restaurant in bal harbour shops. Hopefully the other restaurants in the mall are not like this.

We stopped here for lunch, Hillstone is a fabulous Miami gem. We got the tuna Tatar, which I highly recommend as the appetizer, and a chicken Caesar salad, with the traditional hamburger, which was phenomenal! This place is glitzy and flashy, so make sure you’re shining too!

The burger is one of the best items here. So juicy, flavorful, and delicious. It is plated well. It is generously portioned. Just a great food item to order here. I don't eat seafood. But the other people that I went with ordered the sushi and they say it is some of the best sushi around Bal Harbour. The warm bread plate is also very good with the selection of butter and olives. It is a very flavorful dish.

Absolutley terrible compared to Houston's and the rest of the Hillstone restaurants, rethink the whole staff and make sure the customers actually are welcome. The male manager is absolutely disrepectful and doesn't listen to the concerns of the customers, which is insane to me since this is a service industry. My last time here.

I've had the pleasure of dining at Hillstone several times, and each visit has been consistently delightful. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Now, let's talk about the food – it's simply outstanding. One of my favorite items from the menu is the deviled eggs. I'm typically not a fan of eggs, but Hillstone's version is truly exceptional. The French Dip Au Jus is also a standout, but my absolute favorite is the Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It's so flavorful that it never fails to impress. And if I'm watching my carb intake, I opt for the sandwich without the bread, which is just as satisfying. Additionally, the spicy and creamy coleslaw and tabbouleh with lemon vinaigrette sides always complement the meal perfectly. With such a fantastic dining experience, I'm already looking forward to my next visit and trying out something new from the menu!

Good food , arrogant from the minute you make your reservation. Seems like there main goal is to get you out S quick as possible. Not an ideal dining experience…

Houstons in Aventura is hands down one of the best restaurants in South FL. So, we were excited to try Hilstone in Bal Harbour, thinking it would be a comparable experience. 🫤 It was a really terrible experience, we will never go back. I did find a beer I liked, even if I could only order 1 lol 1. Food: The spinach artichoke dip was cold and not enjoyable. The sushi was alright, I guess. I wasn't a fan of the white rice paper. Over all meh, just not impressed. 2. The service is what REALLY killed it for us. We sat at a table behind the bar today. The server seemed bothered initially and had an attitude when he approached the table. He eventually came over and took our drink and appetizer order and then never returned. Didn't ask how things were, never returned so I could reorder a beer. We had to wait 45 minutes and then flag someone down to give us our check and leave. Overall, it was just a horrible experience with the waiter. 3. Atmosphere: very bright and comfortable

I love Hillstone nationally. Likely been to all of them coast to coast. This location always stymies me though. They don’t serve Sprite. Why? The Honor Bar and every other Hillstone serves Sprite. The other thing I just don’t get about their Spinach and Artichoke dip is they bring you this huge platter of dips with enough chips for about 25% of the dips. Seems like a culinary blunder.

Upscale dining in Bal Harbour Village. Perfect for casual dining or special occasions. Started with sushi, fresh and tasty. Rib plate and roast beef sandwich plate to die for. Good service. Good wine selection. We will definitely be back.

Xavier was one of the most phenomenal servers I’ve ever had. I came here for my friend’s birthday not knowing what to expect 🥳. Well as I go back to New York, Xavier and the team at Hillstone at Bal Harbour have left an unforgettable impression. Thank you all for amazing service and food.

Great food and good customer service

Really sexy location with thoughtful service and food. I came here with a friend for a post holiday catch up. We sat at the bar and got the little bird, key lime pie, and tres leches & left satisfied and satiated

Very poor experience even though this restaurant is supposed to offer high level fine dining and it is always fully booked. They don’t even have any wi-fi and the normal internet connection barely works there.. Food is just fine. Very disappointing in total and not worth to wait for booking

We came in with our newborn and asked for a table . Was told about 25 minute wait . We waited and when the table was available she said we have to leave the stroller parked by the front door. We tried to explain that 1 the child is sleeping and 2 he is 4 months old and unable to sit by himself . We had to leave after waiting half an hour . She saw us with a stroller upon check in , she didn’t mention anything and after we waited we were told we can’t come with stroller in. Terrible customer service

Hoy tenía planes de ir a cenar con 3 parejas más de amigos porque deseaba mucho conocer el restaurante y ellos también por mi sugerencia, pero me lleve la sorpresa cuando llamé para hacer la reservación y la respuesta que dio La Señora que responde el teléfono… que no nos reciben porque no tienen la opción de una mesa para recibirnos a los 8 ni siquiera uniendo otra mesa.Colgué tan aburrida porque jamás me había pasado rechazaran una reserva y mi hija llamó nuevamente para saber la razón y la respuesta es que es un lugar supuestamente más íntimo. Que pesar!!

It was my first experience and I had a lot of expectations, and I was very disappointed. The restaurant was very hot, it seemed like it had no air conditioning. The menu is not attractive, there are not many options. We ordered the famous Spinach Dip, what a disappointment. The one at Applebees was much better. My boyfriend ordered an Ahi Tuna Tartare, nothing special. I ordered The Little Bird, I still don't know what kind of bird it was... I think it was a quail. Bland, tasteless food and a price that wasn't worth it. I would not return to this restaurant. If you are Latino and are used to tasty food, this is not the place for you. Typical American canned food that tastes like nothing.

Food was great! My only request is more chips with the Spinach Artichoke dip. By the time you get additional chips, the dip is cold.

Inside the exclusive Bal Harbour Mall you find this excellent American restaurant with well prepared signature dishes like French Dip Au Jus and Carolina Barbecue Beef Ribs. Desserts are always worth trying: Hot Fudge Sundae or Tres Leches. Service is outstanding and the ambiance is very classy. Highly recommended!

We have been diners at Hillstones (previously Bal Harbor Grille) for a long time. I always enjoyed the food selection, dining room, dress code and the intimate casual atmosphere. It is not what is used to be. Now there is a limited wine/cocktail menu, they ran out of the fresh fish special at 6 pm, and the menu is focused on sushi. Service was average, but not exceptional as it once was. As a local patron, I am disappointed in the decline. Management needs to pay attention.

Came here to celebrate the closing of a deal with my clients. Everyone was amazed by the food and service. Definitely recommend this place

Genuinely disgusted with the female manager's attitude. She stated that we had to leave because we were talking "too loudly". This is with no warning, no conversation, NOTHING. Just that we had to leave. The entire restaurant was packed, with plenty of noise yet only we were singled out. Your KAREN MANAGER needs to be fired.

We popped in for a drink and snack while shopping. We sat at the bar and had a drink and the Hirimasa roll; it was fabulous. Good service, nice linens, good atmosphere.

Do NOT come here if you have CHILDREN. My two year old child was crying, and the Karen to our next table complained. The manager had the audacity to ask us to leave because of our child crying. This was during the afternoon when most of your restaurant was empty. Your female manager is heartless, and I pray she never has children. I can’t believe I got into an argument about a TWO YEAR OLD crying, ridiculous.

This is my second visit to this Restaurant last night and was disappointed. Ordered the Salad Nicoise, which was drenched in dressing, the Tuna presented was cut in chunks and there was a half of hard boiled eggs. The veggie burger, was served with pickled onions( they said the do not have fresh raw onions. No bread was offered with the salad, and the service was not as on target as the first time I went.

Horrible experience. Bar far the worst restaurant in Bal Harbour Shops. The manger is condescending. I would not recommend this restaurant. Such a terrible experience tonight. We dine at the restaurants in Bal Harbour shops at least 10 times a year and have never seen such poor customer service.

This restaurant chain has high standards, the staff is very well trained, they are all professionals and kind. The same applies to the food which is fresh, flavorful and promptly delivered. They anticipated to our needs making sure that nothing was lacking during our meal. Unfortunately, the only thing that was missing is that for a very strange reason decaffeinated coffee is not offered.

I recognize that the food and service at the restaurant were great, but it seems like it wasn’t a pet-friendly place, which can be a downside if you wanted to bring your dog. It’s important to consider your pet’s needs when choosing a place to dine. It is non-negotiable to deny water to an animal.

This place to me is one of the best all around restaurants you could dine in Miami. The food and service are both great. The menu is constructed to offer the best of everything. Salads , sandwiches ,burgers and or steak or fish of the day. The ambiance is nice for couples or families. And now their sushi menu compliments their already incredible menu. Try their cocktail menu and you wont be let down.

Until we inquired the reason for bringing the check without asking if we want anything else like coffee or anything She said was a company thing I asked for another dessert and never bought it. absolutely disgusting service. they would not seat us since we were 3 adults and 4 kids. they wanted us to sit separately. we had two infants and they wanted us to carry them the entire time. i have never been treated in such h a way in my life. i was a bug to them since i was with kids. i would like an apology from them as we ended up walking out with out being seated once we saw the seats were completely separate

Could be better. The whole menu is no more than 25 items. Very small selection. Thought it would be more. Also, service went the best. Took forever for our food to come out and they had to attention to detail (refills).

If you have children, don't go to this restaurant. First of all they don't let you pass with your baby's car, second if your baby cries I won't even tell you. Particularly yesterday we were there and the manager came to suggest why we didn't take our baby for a spin or if she wanted something so that she would stop crying. It is really unpleasant that someone comes to tell you what to do with a 12-month-old baby or even worse to send you to leave with your child. ZERO recommended, very bad experience.

Facts are this place has very good food. However, I arrived today with a group of 8 friends and was promptly advised that they do not sit groups of 8 or more! I could not believe what I was hearing— after my friends flew in from Monaco and were expecting a great meal after the long flight, Hillstone would not seat us despite the place being fairly empty. We took our business elsewhere. Just a terrible experience. I have always been welcomed with 8 plus in every restaurant around the world. This is completely unacceptable. AVOID with a group!!!!

An all time favorite. This restaurant and Houstons are related. So if you like one you'll love the other. If you're not familiar I would call it a sophisticated American bistro. Today I asked for a cheeseburger open face and extra crispy fries. They nailed it for me.

Oh, where do I even begin with Hillstone? This restaurant deserve a constellation of stars! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for an extraordinary, dining experience. The food, the food, the food!! The Osaka style press sushi took us on a flavor journey we never expected. Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to describe it. Now let’s not forget the Carolina style beef ribs. They were so tender and succulent, we couldn’t help but feel like royalty devouring them. The desserts were the perfect finale to an already mind blowing meal. Trust me, you don’t want to miss them. The drinks were equally impressive -expertly crafted. Service was always on point. Never missed a beat. This is a must visit for foodies.

Family friendly experience through and through. If you got little ones, bring them all. The more strollers the better. We were catered so well I asked the hostess if they provided day care. Crayons, toys, the most comfortable high chairs, and special kids menu. Highly recommended spot to bring the smallest of your crew.

I’ve been to the east coast sister restaurant, Houston’s, but have to say I’ve started to like Hillstone a bit more due to the menu options. Seating at the bar is super easy if you arrive by 7 and you’re helped by some of the best bartenders. I had interactions with Stella and Roman when visiting on separate occasions and I always am met with a welcoming smile and friendly service. Pictured are the bar seating table settings, deviled eggs, nigiri plate, caesar salad, French dip sandwich (must have) and the key lime pie. Everything was just as delicious as the pictures. Note that everything comes out a different times or can be asked to come out together which is nice. It was great for sharing with others. Overall, if you’re in Bal Harbour and want something good to eat, Hillstone is a solid option due to its consistency and modern ambiance.

Este es un gran restaurante para comer. El servicio es realmente bueno, toda la gente lo atiende a uno muy bien y la comida es muy buena, de gran calidad servida en su punto. Lo que hace especial este restaurante es que a pesar de que esta en uno de los centros comerciales más caros del país, los precios son relativamente razonables. El lugar es agradable y da un gran placer ver desde el gran ventanal la cocina. El diseño acustico del local es malo y es un poco dificil platicar pero al menos a diferencia de otros lugares de Miami no hay que ademas escuchar musica de mal gusto a todo volumen.

Underwhelming experience at the bar. The bar back who was standing in front me most of the night cleaning glasses never addressed me. The lady bartender was also inattentive. They brought me a dish I didn’t order. After correcting them they came back questioning if I was sure I didn’t order it…bartender cleared my dishes but never asked if I wanted another dish or another drink. I guess I’m so used to such a high level of service at Hillstone this was very disappointing.
