The most darling coffee shop with excellent coffee and fresh bites. Their special Dingo flavoring is SO GOOD! Starting to feel like fall with the overnight oats. So happy to have found this little gem!

This is the greatest breakfast/lunch/pastry spot in all of Williamsburg/newport News/hampton area. The vibes are perfect. The pastries are top tier. The breakfast options were excellent. I will be visiting as much as I can. A must if you are in the area. Some parking out front. Lots of seating inside. Great menu. Coffee is excellent.

We were visiting with family and found Hohl on our way out of Williamsburg. Customer service was excellent. The cashier at the front was sweet and helpful, especially since we had 10 little kids with us. Coffee was delicious and parties and sourdough even better. Wish I would have found it earlier in our trip.

There's all kinds of Brewers out there, these guys do coffee and food extremely well. Pleasure popping in, great staff.

The young ladies that work here were absolutely adorable and super friendly. I ordered an iced mocha that turned out to be one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was super friendly and calm. I will definitely be visiting again soon!

When it comes to coffee, Hohl is very good. Their roaster is top notch. I just grabbed a couple of breakfast items and their banana nut bread is moist, solid, but the taste is OK. Yes, it’s much more popular now, and crowded. The noise level is uncomfortable and they have outgrown their current location in my opinion.

Wow! A bit late, but this place was great. On opening day it was bustling but we went back in a second time on the opening day.

WOW!!! So I had been told about this adorable hidden gem by more than a few people, and thought it was about time I got my butt down here. I am really glad I did! I ordered 2 slices of toast (bread is made on site), and you can choose 3 toppings of 6 (berry jam, rhubarb jam, butter, almond butter, or honey). I decided on rhubarb jam, almond, butter, and berry jam (which I brought home). Plentiful and yummy (the toast and the toppings) :-) The coffee is brought in a small glass carafe, and I was able to get approximately 1 and half cups for $4.00. The coffee was slightly strong for my taste, but I am a light roast gal, and this was a medium roast. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is friendly with abundant smiles. Although it is a little pricy, I will definitely return because it is high quality. All of the baked goods are made on site. Hohl has an amazing selection of pastries, and savory delights to tempt you. The added plus is the Toano Air market is right next door on Saturdays from 9-12.

Pretty disappointed in my experience and the prices here. All employees were very nice, it has absolutely nothing to do with them. I got a waffle and a coffee and the tip that was automatically chosen and my total was almost $30. My friend got the eggs which are also quite pricey, and they had absolutely no toppings and a plain piece of bread with it. Something that could genuinely be made for $4 was around $14 or so. Everything is extremely overpriced for what it is. Not to mention my friend’s plate was brought out much before mine, she was already almost finished with her meal by the time I got mine. I hate leaving bad reviews but I was excited to come here and saved up for it just for it to be a let down.

What a quaint cute little cafe! Baked goods made in house. Excellent coffee and juice menu. Hubby got the money bread and I had the savory tart with prosciutto and fig. We got drinks and food from the bakery bar but will be back for the full experience on a lunch date!

I am a big fan of Hohl. The food is unique & healthy and yummy. My favorite (if I have to pick just one) is Gritz & Shrooms. The fresh pressed juices are so good!! I like sitting outside at the pic-nic tables and in the fall, they even have cozy blankets. The pastries & cakes are also amazing. Highly recommend!

SO good! Latte was rich and delicious, and lamb sandwich was amazing (served of freshly baked and toasted bread). Staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!!

First time trying Hohl and was not disappointed! The Grits & Shrooms were masterful! From the consistency to the flavors, my favorite grits meal of all time. Usually the phone eats first, but the fragrance left me no choice but to eat ¼ of it before I could snap a picture. Thoroughly enjoyed my flat white with their Dingo syrup and the service and vibes were also immaculate

We got two butterscotch lattes and 2 different tarts. The coffees were delicious and the tarts were so buttery and flaky, absolutely amazing. The Cafe itself is very cute and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended

Best pastries in the area…they don’t do the typical super sweet pastries, but the delicious only slightly sweet pastries you find in Europe. Absolutely fantastic.

We had a chai latte/ latte avocado toast and veg sambo for Rambo. Everything was excellent. Loved the pickled veggies and bread.

I ordered a mocha that was great. I ordered a quiche that I was told was bacon, but was sweet and filled with mostly sweet potato and weird 😕. I asked them thinking they messed up the order and was told it was the bacon and that because their was a bite out of it they would not give me something else and was not offered a refund. Threw the food out because it was gross and they did not make it right. Will not order food there again.

I've been excited to check out Hohl for awhile. I was not disappointed! The whole place had a great feel to it; lovely, bright and clean. I was thrilled to see three gluten free pastry options. Both the seasonal muffin and the lavender latte I ordered were blissful. The service was warm and welcoming. I look forward to my next visit.

My husband and I love this shop, and the biggest downside is it's 45 minutes from where we live. But the location, tucked back in the woods of Toano, adds so much to the feeling of respite from busyness. Their food is incredibly flavorful, high quality and intentionally served. The prices match the level of food, and portions are reasonable; just don't come expecting to be full like you would at Cracker Barrel. The coffee is delicious but the biggest draw for us in the atmosphere - feels like the perfect, sleepy coffee shop next to your B&B on vacation.

Almost always a little busy due to the good food and coffee. Well worth the wait.

Nice place, friendly staff, but too expensive. We ordered 2 waffles that were small, cup of water, cup of coffee and a quiche and it was $54. Wished it was more mom and pop style. You don't have to fancy up the food. I believe in helping local business, but their menu items are too expensive. Plus the food was ok, not over the top great. But they seem to always be busy, so good for them.

Hohl is our "home away from home!" Every time we're in the area, we MUST stop in for coffee, cake, or lunch. The coffee, honestly, is some of the best I've ever had (I've lived in 5 states). The pastries & baked goods are incredible. Also, so many gluten free options, including cake! Their breakfast and lunch food, I can only describe as "homemade with love" - you know when it's super fresh, bursting with flavor, and you feel really good after eating it? That's the food at Hohl. Lastly, kudos to Chris, the owner - someone who cares about absolutely everything in his cafe, and makes sure every last person has a great experience. If you're in VA, take a detour, go to Hohl, you won't regret it!

Where do I begin this place is fantastic! The coffee is by far the best in the area but the food is also insanely good. The staff is always warm and friendly and even if it’s been a month they always remember my wife and I. The owner is incredibly nice and they even catered my sisters baby shower and the food was a huge hit. It is impossible to recommend this place enough!

I really love Hohl! The food and coffee drinks are delicious, and it's a warm, friendly atmosphere. It's definitelyp worth the trip (it's located in Toano, a bit outside of Williamsburg.) I love that they have a number of gluten-free options each day.

Stumbling upon this place was such a lovely happy accident. We were early for a wedding in the area and needed some coffee and this happened to be close. What a beautiful place with the kindest staff and delicious coffee. We can't wait to come back for food! It looked divine.

Such a gem! Atmosphere was cozy, staff was all so friendly and the baked goods we had were excellent. We came here because my 7 year old had been watching videos of latte art and wanted to go to a coffee shop where they did this. Not only did he get a cocoa with a design on top but they showed him how they do it ❤️ we will definitely be frequent visitors and have already placed an order for the cake we tried there for my husband's birthday.

This is my favorite coffee shop for brunch. Sometimes I stop in and just get some baked goods to go. Definitely a hidden gem and everything they sell is out of this world good.

The best coffee within 50 miles at least. Food items seem spendy but the volume of food and taste makes up for it.

I will now compare every other coffee shop to this one. This is as good as it gets. The calm ambience, creative cuisine, and friendly smiles set this place apart. But it’s more than that- there is a unique feeling about Hohl. Like it has its own culture and personality. I don’t think you could replicate it exactly how it is because there’s something intangible that is really special about it. The waffles are the best I’ve ever had. Actually everything our family ordered was just a level above. Hohl is worth driving out of your way for. Next time we are down near Williamsburg or Richmond, we will definitely stop by.

We go here often and the service is wonderful, cappuccino yummy and the eggs are melt in your mouth never needing anything else. Pastries 🍰 delicious. Get place to just hang out.

With amazing food, coffee, and service, this is a great spot and unique in the Williamsburg/Toano. You can tell they genuinely care, not just for the restaurant, but for their community as well. Can’t recommend highly enough

Cafe Hohl is excellent! The food, service, and atmosphere are absolutely wonderful. As for the food, I enjoyed everything, and especially recommend their chocolate/raspberry tart, as well as an espresso drink with their homemade lavender syrup. Looking forward to coming back!

We visited at 9 this morning, after the a.m. rush. My friend got the date bread while I got a waffle. They were both heavily garnished with all sorts of goodies but very sweet. The coffee was good. We were told it us their own brand of coffee. It was served with an individual carafe to keep it hot. Great experience. Would highly recommend.
