Went to house of Thai on recommendation from my friend and it didn’t disappoint. Cozy atmosphere and the silent clinking of cutlery let me know that I was in the right spot. Everything from the Thai ice tea to the appetizers while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive were seriously delicious. I had the massamun curry with chicken and licked my plate clean. With a shared side of papaya salad that was the perfect amount of spicy mess. Dessert was fried bananas, mango sticky rice and a traditional dessert pudding that should get more fan fare. I definitely recommend you stop in for a visit as everything on the menu looked and tasted great.

Worst pad kee mao I’ve ever had plus rude lady at counter

I have been going to this restaurant for years. They know me so well that they know my order when I walk in. The food is beyond excellent here. Clean food and atmosphere, lots of vegetarian options. In fact, I was told the last time I was there that they can make my favorite dish, Garlic Chicken, with tofu. I’m excited to try it! Can’t wait to go back.

House of Thai or H.O.T. is one of the better Thai restaurants in the Green Brook area. The food is flavorful and served quickly. Most importantly, the staff is very friendly. After you've enjoyed you entrée, be sure to try the sticky rice with Thai custard. It's VERY delicious!

Don’t skip on this place! Such a little hidden gem. The food is excellent, the staff is attentive, and it’s clean and well decorated. The pad se ew was top notch and the fried ice cream was HEAVENLY and done beautifully in comparison to the dozen other places I’ve had it.

I'd like to vent a bit. I feel very disappointed with the service staff at House of Thai Route 22. The food is delicious. But the service is very selective. We went to eat with the grandchildren. I have been at the shop for 3 years and consistently. Sometimes there are no people in the shop. Well, we are the first group of customers. When we first went to eat at the restaurant, we were alone. We felt that the staff didn't like us. We weren't sure what we were doing for him. We always said hello to him. He didn't say a word back. which we can understand that He might be tired. But when a foreigner came, he greeted him with a cheerful smile. Very different from a minute ago. But we continue to go to his shop. Until he started having a conversation with us. Several months later He started to become friendlier. But most recently, Valentine's Day We took the children to eat. The little one, 2 and a half years old, was crying because he was hungry. The employee at the store came to serve water and then told us to leave the store. But we didn't leave. Because we know that if the little one gets to eat, he will probably stop crying. My younger sister is really not upset anymore. When we finished eating, we tipped him 18 percent, which we always give around this amount. And it was considered a lot with the prejudice he had towards us that day. Today we ordered a pick up and he demanded our Valentine's Day tip because he forgot to adjust. We said he had already called the card swiping machine company. He said he had taken care of it. But this employee said he still hasn't received the money. So we reminded him that Is this the day you kicked me out of the store? He answered without feeling anything, "Yes" with his eyes fixed and his face expressionless. And he expects us to write a new tip for him. Money is not a big deal. But I feel very bad. We have been customers for 3 years and eat there almost every week. He treats us like we are not helping to subsidize his living expenses. Friends, what should we do?

This was my first time trying House of Thai. I ordered take out. It was delicious! The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Warm and cozy! I will definitely try dine in one day soon. I ordered the Salmon green curry and Thai salad. Everything was delicious. Fresh ingredients. Perfectly cooked. Excellent portion size. I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu. The women that helped me was very friendly and professional. Thank you!

On their web it says close at 9 but stop taking orders barely pass 8 (8:06pm). Never answer their phone so you never are they open or what. Very inconvenient

My wife and I love Thai food and had been searching for a go-to place when we're in the mood for thai food and have found it here! Was highly recommended by my wife's friend several months ago and we now make sure we go there at least once a month when we feel we need a treat or reward. We always have the curry puff, our fave for a shared appetizer. Have had the chicken satay and squid rings when we were really hungry) and have been cycling through their entrees - none have disappointed yet! Tonight we had the shrimp pad thai and the salmon basil crunch - both were excellent - was thinking of asking for extra serving of rice to sop up and eat all of salmon dish sauce because it was so yummy but gotta watch out for the extra carbs We had the squid in love before, my go-to chicken in yellow curry which did not disappoint, seafood combo that had a good portion and assortment of seafood. We're going to continue in our quest to try everything on their menu - have recommended to family and friends and they're also in love with this place. Come and join us and enjoy the yummo food - it's like home cooking because the owner's wife is in the back cooking!!

We called the restaurant for the takeout and the person the on the phone was RUDE. She literally yelled at us while taking the order. Eventually, we cancelled the order.

I got my order to go, but they were really nice, and the restaurant was super cute. The food was really good. We got five entrees and two salads, and finished all but one entree. I was shocked by how much we ate. Everything tasted so good. The prices are reasonable too. You can get some vegetarian or chicken options for $12, which is a couple dollars cheaper than most places in NYC.

This is our favorite Thai restaurant in the area. The staff is extremely friendly. The satay is always perfectly cooked and their peanut sauce is really really good. I’m yet to encounter a dish there that I don’t enjoy. They’ll adjust spice levels to your taste - I prefer mine to be spicy. Make a trip to visit this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed with anything. I’m especially fond of the cashew sauce and choo chee curry.

They seem to care about the quality of their food. Randomly choose this place when I was looking for vegetables fried rice. I thought it would be the normal over priced low quality Asian food but I was completely wrong. The food was delicious 🤤… we ordered the Thai chicken and curry shrimp (curry duck but with shrimp instead of duck). Ordered the food for takeout and it was still really hot when we got home. Took about 20mins to get food after we ordered it. Walked around outside during the wait. I would go here again. I hope they maintain their quality

It was a hectic day, and I’m not feeling great, so I decided to order from House of Thai. The person on the phone was so incredibly rude. The person’s name turns out to be Peter. I don’t know who he is, but if he is the owner, they should change their name to house of no manners. When my husband arrived to pick up the food, he didn’t know which name I had ordered it under. No big deal, he called me to ask and then I could hear him telling the staff his name. The same rude man started yelling at my husband. Why? He was just picking up and paying for an order. I asked him to get the man’s name. That’s how I know it was Peter. There was another woman nearby, and she apparently she was friendly. We ordered three items. One special fried rice. Although it is a decent portion size, it has pretty much no flavor. We ordered chicken pad woon sen, which only has a mild flavor and then we ordered red curry with coconut milk, and beef. This was the most flavorful because I ordered medium spice, but a big disappointment because they didn’t even fill the container and there was a thick layer of oil sitting on top. I know that the pandemic was hard on everyone, but, neither my husband, nor I did anything wrong. We didn’t ask for a special accommodations to our dishes, or order anything that requires a substitution or modification. It should have been a normal, pleasant transaction, but instead, I was disappointed before my husband even got home. Average food plus rudeness don’t equal a happy experience.

Listen, this place is so low key you'd miss it and drive right past, however, that would be a mistake. This Thai restaurant is truly a gem. The food is excellent and the service was absolutely pleasant. I ordered the Basil Sauce with ground chicken and a fried egg on top - highly recommended. Stop reading this, go to the restaurant and sit down and eat. Thank me later ;)

My boyfriend and I came here for date night. The restaurant is located in a quiet strip mall and the interior felt very homey and cozy. Our food came out quickly and the service was great! For appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Satay and Curry Puffs. I found the chicken satay to be overly chewy and the curry puffs were pretty bland. Luckily, the chicken satay came with a delicious peanut sauce that made up for the lack of flavor in both appetizers. I was pleasantly surprised by the entrees. Both the Panang Curry and Pad Kee Mao were delicious but the chicken was again too chewy (and tasted a little too chickeny) in both dishes. For dessert, I got the Thai Custard with Sticky Rice. The portion size was perfect for one person and the custard was delicious. This was my first time having sticky rice and I wasn’t a huge fan.

The food quality is second to none! This is my favorite Thai food spot!

The restaurant reminds me of eating at someone’s house. The decor is simple yet quaint, large, and cozy. It’s like coming to eat at a quaint home decorated with Knick knacks from all around. My husband and I have always enjoyed their food. It is simple without the extras. I’ve lived in Thailand for a while and can vouch that it is fairly close to more flavorful. We ordered a simple Tom yum soup, rice, and noodles. Their Thai ice tea is to die for!! It is a very large restaurant and can fill quite a few people even though they never fill it up. We miss going there after we moved out of the area and went back after a couple of years thanks to the pandemic. I will have to commend that their food remains the same.

Takeout, got 4 dishes. Dumplings inedible. Green curry was fair at best, light on the veggies & spicy just means more red flakes - a 3 at best. Pad Khee Mao also rated a 3. Also, not very nice on telephone.

Always wanted to try it and honestly it leaves much to be desired. Very nice staff but the food lacks flavor and is very bland. The spring rolls while good are literally a one bite size so make sure you order a few orders if you have multiple people. Clean but extremely dimly lit. Staff was nice but a bit stand-offish and annoyed to keep filling our waters. Will not visit again.

House of Thai serves the best Thai food in the Somerset County Area! Not only is the food absolutely delicious and spot on every time I order, the staff is friendly, polite and extremely courteous. Even after moving twice as far as I used to live from Green Brook, I still make the 20+ minute drive just for the politeness and delicious food!

My staple order is always shrimp drunken noodles!!!!! Noodles are always perfect.

Underrated Thai Place. Food is excellent everytime we have come here! Thai iced coffee is very good as well - yes the coffee. Made a stop just for the coffee for take out. These guys are great and I would recommend it in my top 3 places for Thai food to anyone in the Middlesex/Union county region.

Absolutely LOVE this place!! The food is made perfectly every time, plus it's LOADED with flavor! The owners are so sweet and accommodating making this the only Thai place my girlfriend and I go to when we are craving some delicious Thai food! Also, we recently relocated and couldn't find any location that comes close to House of Thai, so we take the extra drive. I promise you it's worth it!!

Great food! Very reliably delicious and reasonably quick for pickup...I got 7 meals and 5 appetizers to go for lunch on a Saturday and it was ready in 20 minutes!

Love the food and the owner is a very nice gentleman. Staff always gives you a smile. You have to try the duck curry. Ask for mild if you do not like it with a little kick.

Best Thai food we have had anywhere

Thai food used to be my favorite cuisine (Ethiopian and Spanish Tapas are now my preferred cuisines), but after eating so much mediocre Thai food, I don't eat it as often as I once did. We went out with my sister and brother-in-law to this small local restaurant, it is their go-to Thai restaurant and I must say while the menu was pretty typical, the food was well above average. Service was quick and professional and we very much enjoyed our meal. I had Tofu in garlic and pepper sauce (very nicely prepared and well flavored), my wife had her usual Pad Thai (they were happy to add additional vegetables as she requested), and my sister had the curry puffs (very good) and Pad See-Ew (rice noodles with chicken, Chinese broccoli and egg), while my BIL had the Massamun curry. It was a lovely meal and the price for 4 was quite reasonable.

I love this restaurant! Their thai chicken is absolutely amazing and their chicken curry puffs! It is one of my favorite thai places around!

Have been here a few times and it is consistently good food with authentic Thai taste (many Thai restaurants in USA have altered the taste to what they think the guests want). Really friendly staff - homestyle atmosphere, but it's the food that counts. Menu has plenty of variety too. The Crispy Duck Yam salad is a standout and so is the sticky rice and mango desert. Price reasonable because the quality of food is great.

Food was decent, but had the inclusion of odd vegetable additions, for example snow peas in the green curry. Overall not bad, restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night ~8pm which may detract from your experience.

We just had dinner at this restaurant and the food was delicious! For appetizers, we ordered curry puffs, shrimp and chicken dumplings, and a beef salad. For dinner, we ordered Thai iced tea, salmon basil crunch, shrimp pad kee mao, and mango with sticky rice and custard! We enjoyed everything and we can't wait to go again next week! Peter, Ann, and Jenny are wonderful and very helpful. Thank you for your kindness and great conversations!

It's a quaint Thai restaurant that's close for us to go to. The owner/manager was really nice and so was the wait staff. This is more of a cozy place than an upscale restaurant, but the food is tasty and the service was good so I have no complaints really. Definitely worth checking out if you live in the area.

I ate dinner here here with two business associates. We shared three different appetizers, Satay, Curry Puffs, & Thai Dumplings. They were all very tasty. My two friends had the Volcano Jumbo Shrimp & Panang Curry entrees while I had the Green Curry. Like the appetizers the entrees were also very tasty. The Green Curry was some of the best I have ever experienced. Our server was very friendly and efficient. If you like Thai food, you won’t go wrong with this restaurant.

I'm giving this place a four star rating instead of a five star because the place is somewhat run down and I felt that the waitresses could have been more gracious. The place was well attended because the food is very good. There were families as well as couples. They have many vegan and vegetarian options. We ordered the Vegetarian Duck (made from wheat dough) in Basil Sauce and thought it was excellent. We also ordered Cashew Nuts Tofu which was spicy and flavorful. Food was brought to the table very fast. We would definitely return.
