We had an early dinner here and were happy with our food choices. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. Our orders came so promptly, barely any wait time. We felt very welcome. I give it a 5 star rating however with the interior furniture and bathroom being outdated, Howie lost a couple points on atmosphere. We'd definitely come back when we're in town.

My sisters and I enjoyed breakfast for the first time here and we all loved it! The portions are generous and the stuffed raspberry french toast tasted like heaven. The gravy tastes so good! We will be back! Thanks for having us! Oh, the waitresses and staff were super friendly and smiled a lot. 😊😊

This is a hidden gem. The best breakfast I had while visiting the area. They cannot recommend this place enough for the overall affordability and excellent quality that the breakfast provided. I'll definitely go again.

We are new to the area. We tried this place and have been back 3 times already!

I have driven past this restaurant everyday for years and its alway packed both for breakfast and lunch. Decided to stop today for lunch. It was crowded as usual but got a table right away. I had the pork fried sandwich which was tender with a flavorful coating. There was a generous cuts of lettuce, tomato and onion on the sandwich, each of which was very fresh. My father had the beef Manhattan special. Again, a very generous portion of meat, mashed potatoes and gravy. If you're looking for a taste of hometown cooking I suggest to give Howies a try. I know I plan to go back.

This is the best place to eat in the whole world!! Especially if you are hungry and want a good home-cooked meal. A little “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant that is the definition of a great home town restaurant. I used to eat here regularly over 20 years ago, moved away, then came back. It sold in that time. I was hesitant, but the new owner has kept all the good and added even more. Where can you get a generously portioned home cooked meal for right around $10? Howie’s Six Mile Restaurant!!!

Stopped by to see if they had ice coffee. They did. Ordered one with ice cream and coffee.. it was ready really quick. The waitress was right on top of my order. It was really good. Definitely will be going back soon.

I ordered the haystack for breakfast. It was incredibly good. They come in a large and a small size and I got the large. Probably should’ve got the small but it is so good. The waitresses are super nice and attentive.

Delicious, ordered Coffee, 1/2 order Biscuits and Gravy, 2 eggs over easy, and sausage. Omg, 2 full biscuits, sausage gravy filled the plate. Got 2 sausage patties instead of the usual 1 from other restaurants. It's in the Boonies along US 20, small place. But Well Worth the Stop! Oh, and the price was less than $15. But in this Biden Economy that's Dirt cheap for All you get... I'll definitely be stopping my next time thru. I hear the Ice Cream place in back has the Best Ice Cream along US 20...😋😋😋😋

We just wandered into this place, there were buggies everywhere. Where the ENGLISHERS were the minority. The food was awesome! The serving size for one plate was enough for three people. We will be back!! Skip Das Essenhuse, and Blue Gate and try this.

Portions were small for the price! Food was not cooked as ordered. Waitress forgot drinks and was not attentive to tables needs.

One of my favorite restaurants in the area! Great place with delicious Amish-made, home-style food. You must try their homemade bread (it’s delicious!). They serve breakfast all day that they’re open, and the staff are friendly Amish girls. Very neat place, delicious food, great fair price with value, and great customer service! Highly recommended! This place is usually busy for a reason, but you can normally find a table anytime you come - we’ve come on different times and were always able to find a table without a wait.

This is a very nice restaurant! The food was delicious, and the employees were very friendly!

Country fried steak was tender and tasted good. It was served with an enormous pile of mashed potatoes and cream gravy and a slice of bread. My side was tossed salad. The salad was really good. It had sliced cucumbers and radishes but I ate them before the picture. The potatoes tasted like instant.

Our favorite when we are in town!

Our waitress was rushy and had no people skills. They ran out of pop. My chicken with onions and peppers was just ok. Very bland. My husband's ribs were very tender. Kind of fatty but ok. The kid at the other table next to us got mashed potatoes and gravy that looked very very good. The next table turned their unused coffee cups upside down on their dirty mat and the waitress left them on the table after cleaning it off for other people to use. Don't care to go again.

This hometown gem has recently gotten new ownership, and honestly, I'm impressed 👏 ! Went for breakfast with dad, I loved the feel, and the food was excellent. The bones of the old restaurant are still there, but with a new touch. Great job guys! I look forward to seeing more!

This is a small Amish Dinner. The coleslaw is the best I have ever had as is the BLT. And the country fried steak with gravely is to die for. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DINNER

Food get an auto 4 star because they were able to do a 10 egg omelet 😋! The 4 star stays as a 4 star because, as you can see, my girlfriends burrito had melted nacho cheese on it... it seemed a little off.... Our waitress was around the table quite a bit checking on us. She was very friendly and kept our drinks full. This always gets a 5 star!! I always love the small diner/cafe feel! It gives you that country town home feel. I do believe it is Amish owned and operated as well. So their atmosphere is always welcoming!

This is a nice Amish owned family restaurant that offers all-day breakfast, a lunch menu, and dinner specials. The ice cream is great! Check hours open, closing time differs.

Most utterly discusting meal ever in my life. Place was cold dirty along with the cold food..will NEVER I SAY NEVER go back. I do not remember who recommended it, but they owe me 17.00 yes I said 17.00 dollars. I still have that bad taste in my mouth.....

Our go-to eating spot in Shipshewana area. No, the building is not fancy but it is reasonably clean. Food is delicious, service and prices are good, and the owner is very friendly and down to earth. And to top it off, the parking lot is trucker-friendly!

The portions were big and the food was awesome. They make homemade bread in white and wheat everyday as well as having store bought bread options. I got the homemade bread option.

Large portions of home style cooking for a reasonable price. Come here for good food not atmosphere but it is clean contrary to what another reviewer said. It's no wonder the locals like it.

Hmmm, not sure what I think about his place. The service was okay, but the place needs a good cleaning. I had a cheese omelette and I am not even sure what was. The 'egg' was sort of flat, yet 'foamy' (for a lack of a better word to describe) and I was pretty confused with it. Before ordering, I asked what kind of cheese was in it, specifically, I asked if the cheese was real. It was definitely a Kraft single, which we all know is not real cheese. All and all, I am pretty indifferent about the whole visit. Not real impressed, but not totally unimpressed either. While I gave it two stars, it's probably because of the extra time and creativity it took to cut out the cross from my 'cheese' However, I probably won't go back if I am being completely honest in this review.

An excellent place to meet for breakfast or lunch. "Homemade" truly descibes their cooking well and i have eaten there several times for breakfast and lunch.

This is not as good as Marners. They are using peppered package gravy, which I can not eat. Because of the pepper. We went the other night with another couple, we all ordered the same meal, they got theirs 5 mins before we received ours, my instant potatoes were mush and running all over my plate, the corn was cold, and of course, peppered gravy which I had to scrap off my meat so I could at least eat that.. Do not recommend this place at all. NOT AMISH MADE ANYTHING...

Had the breakfast haystack. Finally someone makes it big enough I could barely eat it all. We sat next to the kitchen and we were able to watch them cook food. I love when you can do that. Oh did I mention very reasonable prices and great staff that is smiling and laughing while doing their job. 10 out of 10! I will be back with my family.
