We usually have a great experience here, but not so much this last time. We tried the Caribbean steak tips which we have never had. The taste was great, but they were so very tough. $40 of steak we couldn’t eat. When I called to tell them my concern, the young man on the phone seemed unconcerned. He told me he would “let them know” Very disappointed

Extremely disappointed. We order a fresh 25 pound turkey for Thanksgiving Day every year from J & B. This year when we picked the 25 pound turkey up, a day before the holiday, it was frozen. When we questioned this, J&B said it was a deep chill and would thaw overnight in the refrigerator. That did not happen!. The inside of the turkey was still frozen solid on Wednesday.. We couldn’t leave it out for fear of bacteria, so we had to throw away the $100 turkey. I called J&B to see if I could return it and get a fresh turkey, response was no, all our turkeys this year are deep chilled (FROZEN) Not a lot of options at this point, so we had to go out and buy two more smaller fresh turkeys for our holiday gathering. When you order a fresh turkey a month in advance, the expectation is that you will pick up a FRESH Turkey, not a Frozen Turkey. Done with J&B.

The best butcher in the area. Quality meats at an affordable price. They have great side dishes and everyone is very professional. The different marinades are the best around. The burgers always come out amazing and the steaks are tender at any temp.

I understand the appeal of a butcher. There are probably many excellent experiences. That said, I feel a little cheated! Pricing on what is said to be "Upper Choice" brisket was $8 per pound (7.99). There were no markings to indicate that the meat was USDA, USDA Choice or even USDA Upper Choice. What is better than the few levels of choice, including 'upper choice' is USDA Prime. Why is that important? Because Prime, is under $4 per lb at Cotco, Walmart, and other places. I feel cheated! I would understand if they had their own cows and pastures, but they don't! And I can't see spending 2X on what is an ready expensive purchase. I won't revisit because of this.

J&B Butcher has a variety of high quality meats in a convenient tewksbury location. I would love to see them get a bigger location.

Best local butcher shop around -- I only buy meat at J&B now. I'd highly recommend the Caribalo steak tips if you're interested in something spicy -- combines the buffalo and Caribbean sauces to give the steak a tangy, spicy punch. Also, don't forget to check out the meat already that's already been packaged on the opposite side from the counter. That's where you'll find even more variety. The Cilantro Lime Turkey Tips are a personal favorite, but there's a lot of different options to choose from. The stuffed chickens, also, are well worth it -- often they come with pepperoni and mozzarella stuffed inside or other options. A favorite for us is the burgers as well -- all around 1/3 pound. One of our favorite places since moving to Tewksbury -- we come here as often as we go to Market Basket!
