Stopped today to try it and I'm disappointed. None of our food was even luke warm- ribs, jerk chicken, and brisket. Seemed like everything was cooked well but it was unenjoyable. Corn bread had good flavor but was unusually wet and the portion on it was tiny. I love the atmosphere and they seem like great people and wish them well but its one and done for us.

The name is spot on, food here is excellent. Jerk chicken, brisket, corn bread, cole slaw... This place is a hidden gem that deserves your patronage.

This is the best BBQ I've had in the state.

They moved across the street to the corner of 31 South and Van Syckels Rd. More parking and easier to get in and out. Food was great as it always is.

I have been meaning to try this place for a long time. A little pricey for trailer on the side of the road but the food was delicious

Took us forever to find the place n when we an hour before their closing time they were all ready closed so use disappointment as I chatted with someone n they said they will be open till regular time.

Tasty sides...cold salads and warm, creamy mac and cheese. Delicious pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches. I'm definitely coming back.

The food here is delicious. Really good BBQ food. The brisket and pull pork is awesome. You need to try their delicious mac and cheese. My favorite BBQ place!!

If you like eating in a rundown parking lot full of school buses, old trucks and junk, this is the place for you. I’ll never understand the fascination with places like this. Service can be slow. BBQ sauce flavor is just average. We live nearby. Visited once. Will not return. Nothing special.

If you get the chance to try these guys, DO IT!! You won't regret it. Tender, juicy pulled pork & some of the meatiest pork ribs I've seen to date. And they don't smother the meat in sauce, so the smokiness really comes thru. Out of the way for us, but well worth the trip!

Incredible barbeque spot right on 31! The atmosphere was very pleasant and the food was delicious. My husband had a pulled pork sandwich that was so juicy and lots of BBQ sauce. I had ribs which were just outstanding! Hands down one of the best barbeque places I know.

This place is awesome. Highly recommend the brisket sandwich. Will definitely be back. 2024 update: place is still awesome. They do accept credit cards as a form of payment.

So delicious!!! Nothing flashy, just stick-to-the-bones good barbecue. We had just gone hiking with our dog and were looking for a quick spot to eat. We stumbled upon a gem. The brisket was amazing. Tasted just like a pit-master spot we visited in the south.

Great ribs. Very strong brisket. Quick friendly service. The owner is a cool guy who takes great pride in his barbecue.

Pulled pork is excellent, and a large portion. I normally don’t like any bbq sauce on my pork because good smoked meat should not need it, but theirs is applied sparingly and complements the meat. Cole slaw is tasty and mac and cheese tastes homemade. It is the best bbq in the area by far.

I've been coming to the Real Deal bbq for a long time since i do a lot road work in that area. The food is really good. And it is hard to find really good BBQ in NJ. Outside of Newark

Really enjoyed lunch here. The sides and the iced tea were the standouts. Mac and cheese and slaw both excellent. The tea was definitely sweet but not overly imo and had a great flavor. Delicious on a hot day and very friendly, welcoming service. Picnic table seating with umbrellas. Check it out!

I’ve met Kevin a couple times at The Real Deal BBQ, he’s the best and always nice to everyone. On top of that, the southern bbq food there is delectable. The fresh cuts consisting of ribs, brisket, jerk chicken, etc. including the barbecue sauce is delicious. The homemade mac and cheese is one of the sides on the menu and the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had.

Went there on Saturday and they were closed.They have sign open Thurs thru Saturday but it was 1230 pm.Nooo food to be found.Sadly I stopped few times last year and year before and food is delicious.

I've gotten incredible brisket, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and good pulled pork. But I got ribs that were barely edible, very tough and burnt.

Not very friendly and the and the food was very not what I expected it was overrated

The pulled Brisket meat sandwich was mediocre at best, the BBQ sauce was bland and contributed zero to the meal. My wife’s chicken thigh sandwich shared the same weak BBQ sauce, and to her surprise was served undercooked with bones! On a sandwich bun! Unexpected and unprepared is not what we wanted for lunch.

Great, "real deal" bbq. Got the half rack of ribs, mac & cheese and corn bread. Ribs had great smoke to them, very tender with a sweet/vinegar bbq sauce. My wife got the brisket sandwich, beans and Mac & cheese. She said the brisket was great. Sides were really good, I liked both but lean to the corn bread as my favorite. Will definitely go there again and would recommend.

I spend no less than 60$ every time. I was in Houston and had BBQ there and this was as identical to places in Texas and if not better than some. Great food. Great people!

The real deal on a BBQ Dinner, the best in the area and well worth money. Whenever I travel to Island raceway I always call in and order a meal to go.

Pulled pork was very delicious, juicy,tender, can taste the flavor of the smoke of the wood. Which is excellent bar b Q was really tasty also. Mac & cheese was excellent. Corn and corn bread was alright. The brisket was amazing full of flavor. I will definitely be going back for the meat.

Had the Ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket. All were super tasty. The sides were all phenomenal (mac n cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni salad). Found it by accident, definitely recommend.

Top knotch bbq with great prices and friendly service. Been coming here for years and I find myself going almost every week they are open during the summer. Everything is great, only thing they are missing is desert.

Normally the jerk chicken wouldn’t be my first choice when getting bbq. Everything is really good here, but the jerk chicken… other worldly.

I just found the absolute best BBQ spot I've ever had in my life. We were at a friends birthday party in which they had The Real Deal catered. No exaggeration I went up for 6 plates of food! Everything was top tier. Brisket, Mac and cheese, Mac salad, baked beans, pulled pork, chicken, etc. There wasn't a bad thing on the menu My wife kept looking over at me with a mouth full of food asking if this was real life. I live 45 min away from here but I 100% will be making the trip. So happy I stumbled upon this gem!

We picked up trays of brisket, pulled pork, Mac n cheese and slaw for a big family gathering. Kevin and the crew knocked it out of the park again!! Everyone raved about the meal. You'll need to travel a thousand miles south to find better BBQ!!

Hands down. This man makes a great meal. Brisket for my wife and I. Menu: Brisket, pulled pork, chicken jerk and let's not forget the RIBS. His speciality sauce is KICKING. It's a must go. 👍👍👍👍 WILL BE BACK😋

That rack of ribs felt like 4 racks of ribs.

Got a full rack of ribs and was thrilled with how meaty and juicy they were. The BBQ sauce was different for me, but very good. It had more of a reddish than brown color. My dad liked the sauce so much he wanted to save the leftover and cook with it later. I asked what he was going to cook with it and he said "doesn't matter, this sauce would make anything taste great!"

At 3:00 p.m. no one was there. Apparently they were closed.. Sign reads hours are 11-5 p.m. or I f they sell out. Guess they SOLD OUT. Here they have awesome Ribs so will try back.

We ordered catering for a Company bbq and everything was amazing. Not only was the service incredible but the food was raved about. We will definitely be ordering again!

Yep, it's the Real Deal. Luckily they weren't sold out when I arrived. Had the brisket and pulled pork and loved every bite.

Phenomenal! Spring 2022 update. The ribs are excellent as usual. They are meaty. Could actually do a 3 or 4 rib meal and it would be a lot. Price is up to $17 for the half rack meal.

The name says it all. Had the jerk chicken with double mac. The chicken was two ample tender thighs, could be spicier. The macaroni and cheese is the best I’ve had. For all that have mac and cheese on your menu, take note. Macaroni and Cheese, equal billing. Most places make mac and put some cheese on it.

Today one of my residents at the group home wanted bbq so I took her to this lovely establishment the owner was such a gentleman & paid for my residents food not only do he have a long time customer in me but also the company I work for it was such a nice gesture that went a long way ❤️

Ladies and gentlemen, you will NOT find better ribs anywhere near here. So tender, but with just the right amount of bite. I just ate the full rack by myself, and while I feel like I need to take a nap, I don't regret it. Getting a bite of that smoke crust and that juicy meat together was just incredible. Sauce was great as well. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Ok bbq. Some dirty smoke flavor. brisket was more pulled then slices. Sweet sauce on everything including brisket.

Okay so I'm up BBQ fanatic when I used to drive my tractor trailer over the road I always looked for those homemade Hometown BBQ places on the side of the road and the real deal is one of those places they're setup Rosie's BBQ units and their barbecue is the best that I've had in years there is macaroni and cheese with homemade their coleslaw homemade their beans their brisket and their pulled pork sandwiches and the ribs pork ribs

The Real Deal BBQ is an absolute must when driving by!! Kevin, is the man! The staff is friendly, polite and holds a good conversation.

Awesome bbq! Get there early so you don't miss out on anything (they may run out of certain items). Brisket had a great smoke too it and the pulled pork was tender and juicy. Sauce is sweet and tangy but not over powering. Check their Facebook page to see if they close early due to weather.

One of the few true bbq spots in New Jersey. Is a curb side outdoor spot with several smokers working. It brought me back to Alabama. Brisket, ribs, chicken and sausage. Mac and cheese, corn bread, coleslaw, baked beans.... you got the idea. Only open Thursday thru Saturday. 11am till 5pm or sold out. If your a bbq junkie like myself this place you can't pass up. On rt 31 north

Great down home really BBQ. You know it's good when the hours are whatever (or until sold out). The Mac and Cheese is so cheesy. The corn bread is a generous muffin - good for sopping up BBQ sauce. Will return.

Showed up for the first time today, did not disappoint! Brisket, ribs, and Mac n cheese were all on point. Very close to home for us, so my wife and I will most certainly be repeat customers! Thanks Kevin!

Great BBQ. I pass two other sit down BBQ restaurants and travel 25 miles to go here. The only unfortunate thing is they're only open Thursday through Saturday.

Smoked BBQ with sides...outdoor with picnic tables. Smelled amazing and tastes even better! Had the brisket with beans and sweet corn. So good and went back for seconds to bring home to the kids! Prices are reasonable and portions are large! Must stop if in the area!

Maaan, the real deal forreal! I had to hold my promise and leave a review: Saw the smoke from the main road and made sure the family and I stopped by on the way home. As they said, we came there real quiet but after that first plate of BBQ chicken with baked beans, mac salad and cornbread, we were talking for 2 more plates to take home! By far the best smoked chicken and them beans hit right! Dont pass them on the way, definitely make that stop! Thank you for the great taste of memory 😁

Can't wait for 2021 season AND as a local I wish I would have found this place sooner! Coming from TX I bleed BBQ sauce and since moving here I've been jonesin' trying to find a quality BBQ pitmaster. But I must say, this is the WORST BBQ in NJ hands down!!! Thats right you heard me right!! From the brisket to the PP sandwiches, these guys got it down right!!! Sounds like they even do whole hog, which is unheard of North of the Mason-Dixon line. Prices are fair considering the portion size and the BBQ quality. And I must add, their operation is genius. I don't think these guys will ever have a problem going out of business. If you're on 31 headed north of Clinton or south from Washington and smell that BBQ smoke, do yourself a favor and stop for 15min to enjoy one of the finer things in life.

Kevin makes the best BBQ. His chicken is perfection. I could probably drink the bbq sauce. And if you don't get there early enough, you may not get the brisket.... 200lbs gone.

This place is the real deal! They have a lot of smokers there and the smoke really shines in the meat. Pulled pork was amazing, Mac and cheese very good. You won’t be disappointed.

This place is SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!! We crave the brisket...the beans are delicious and the potato salad is awesome. They have the best Mac and Cheese we have ever had.
