Been here twice and it didn't dissapoint I will continue to go back

I've been coming here for years and have brought them to many people's attention because THEY ARE THAT GOOD! I've had catering, order out and popped in for a quick sandwich - never disappointed. These brothers are very friendly (don't mistake them being busy for being rude, they handle a ton of orders) and the setting makes you feel like you stepped back a few decades to an old school smokehouse....in a good way!

Wonderful food, and the owners are great. They've catered a number of our big parties and their food is delicious!

This has got to be hands down the best pit beef I've ever had!!! Don't waste your time down on 40, head on up falls road and get you the best damn sandwich of your life.

Small place with limited seating, but most seem to do carry out anyway. The pulled pork BBQ is delicious! Their home made sauces are so good. Have been wanting to try the ribs! Next time!

Authentic Maryland pit beef - best I ever had. Friendly service, classic highway stop ambiance with grape soda, AC, a side of Mac and cheese and a smoked pit beef sandwich piled high with BBQ and tiger sauce… like a dream.

Best BBQ around. I usually go for the turkey with extra onions and tiger sauce, but you can’t go wrong with anything they serve here. The staff are over the top friendly and provide a great experience. If you haven’t been here its time to make the trip asap!

Great barbecue for a good price

As always some of the best food but also crew in town. If it’s possible for a crew to be as nice if not nicer than their food (and the food is amazing!) than this place is better than the reviews give credit for.

Finally stopped by after passing by for years. Service was excellent. Everyone was so kind and helpful with it being my first time there. I tried the beef, chicken, turkey, pulled pork , ribs and Mac and cheese. Everything was fantastic. They were right, I will definitely be back.

Called 30 minutes before heading over to see what time they closed because it's Father's Day. At no time did the person on the phone recommend I place order in advance. Drive the 30 minutes from my house only to be told by a very rude man with his shorts hanging over his butt cheeks with his underwear showing "if you didn't call ahead too bad we're closed. It bears mentioning that the he waited on the lady who walked in well after me. This place only opened at 10:30 (open for 4 hours so far) so I'm a little confused as to why 3 the pit workers were so miserable and not friendly or welcoming whatever. No worries, we'll stick with Chaps. Also note that inside was dingy and condiment area not very neat and clean and the outside tables were even more disgusting.

Best pit beef, pulled pork, and ribs in town. Great quality every time I visit. Try them for catering. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I went to lunch at Jakes grill. I had pit beef and my husband had 2 sandwiches and they were great. The flavor of the beef was so smoking I thought it was so good. I would just change a few things, the condiments need a lot of help it just didn’t look very appetizing. It looked unkept and not so clean. They should invest in a better way of keeping condiments. Also there sandwiches are very satisfying and not stingy with there meat. I think they could have a bigger selection with there sides also. Bake beans are easy, corn on the cob is very easy they can do a bag of chips as a side, and offer combo’s. But it was a great experience, great food and the service was A-1 in my book. I would recommend it other people and I would be a customer more often.

Best bar-b-q in the area! And the price is right too. Everyone is friendly and dedicated to their craft.

This has been my very favorite place for pit beef, grilled chicken, sausages, and more for over twenty years, going back to when it was called Shorty's. Service is Yankee fast, and accurate, yet Southern kind and considerate. Prices are ridiculously good for the best quality you'll find anywhere. And savor the calculated road side feel, which, IMHO is a draw, not a downside. May the parking remain ever tight. Truly a gem.

The Food that I ordered was average. The Staff that I interacted with was Luke warm.

The place is not much to look at, but it's a hidden gem. When we're in the area, we take home ribs for dinner and a container of rare beef and tiger sauce for sandwiches during the week. We also sit in the car and eat grilled sausage, pepper and onions sandwiches. We read in the newspaper several years ago that Jake's Grill was one of the best in the Baltimore area and they weren't wrong. What a treat this place is!

This place should be called charm city bbq. Top spot for Baltimore pit beef. The people make the experience great.

Absolutely incredible. I’ve been to many places that serve different BBQ food. Jake’s has to be one of the absolute top places I’ve ever been to. Amazing food, friends staff, great service, and very reasonable prices. I can’t recommend them enough!

This place is exactly what it is supposed to be! I rated it before and it's a 5 every time! If you're looking for something fancy this isn't going to be good for you... Old school pit beef pit turkey and pet ham and sausage in an old shack with picnic tables outside. Highly recommend! Very reasonable prices!!

This is a small gem of a place that many locals visit as well as folks that travel just to eat here! It was our first time at Jake’s and will not be the last by any means. I will stop here and have great, well prepared BBQ style food over fast food any day and at around the same price or maybe less! The outside does not look impressive at all but please don’t be fooled, try it out! The inside was very basic as far as appearance with older furnishings and rather rough looking in regards to the paint, maintenance etc. Now, to the awesome part, the food! They have a basic menu of chicken, pork, ham, beef and turkey sandwiches in addition to half or full rack of ribs. They also have a rather large fixings area for the condiments with mayo, horseradish, ketchup, mustard, hot mustard, onion, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, pickles and jalapeños. They serve two sides, Mac and cheese or coleslaw! We had the ham sandwich and the pit beef sandwich and both were phenomenal! Mac and cheese was pretty good too. They also have chips and bottled drinks available. All of the meats are smoked on premises and are cooked perfectly in my opinion. Service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was that of a favorite hang out!

My only mistake was being in a hurry when I gave this place a try for the first time. Went safe with a pit beef, and that was tender and tasty. While eating in the parking lot the owner offered me a few ribs. They were phenomenal. I’m coming back hungry but this time with plenty of time to kill. Can’t wait to explore the menu of this dynamite BBQ stand. Guys working there are absolute pitmasters.

Best ribs I’ve had in Baltimore, Md. Today was the first time I tried them, omg! My daughter is picky and she cleared the bones. I will be back in a couple days please try, you won’t regret it.

Best ribs. Pork BBQ is also exemplary. Sausages, ham & turkey sandwiches are also great. Decent slaw too.

Ok so where do ai start. I was recommended to go here for lunch as I was looking for a good pit beef sandwich. Well I find it and then some. The food was great we ordered the pit beef sandwich and two of the sausages. We have been back several times now and the food has been very consistent looking forward to the next time.

I’ve been coming here for a while and every time the food blows the competition out of the water. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. It’s our Sunday spot.

I eat pit beef all the time. Belair, Cockeysville, Pulaski Hwy. First time at Jake's and it was the best I've had.

I would have posted a pic but I devoured my pit beef sammy in 3 minutes. 10/10 for everything. Definitely worth the stop!

This is what a smoke pit and BBQ place should be. No nonsense, great food. One look at this place the the cats who work there and you know you are in for a treat. It's all about the meat and they get the meat right. I had a rare pit beef sandwich that was a slice of heaven. The condiments are right there at the counter and include onion slices, seriously good horseradish, BBQ sauce, fresh peppers and a lot more. I'm a purist so just a little horseradish and an onion slice for me. Get a bag of Utz chips and a drink a you're set. I used to frequent the place about 15 years ago (until we relocated). Now we're back and I'm back. If anything it is ever better than I remember.

It may not look like much, but the food is amazing, prices great, portions are large. They don't offer a huge variety, but that's ok, because what they have is outstanding! I drive past several other BBQ places to get to Jake's, worth the drive. Never disappoints!

Okay, so it's a shack on the side of the road. Don't be deceived. It is a goldmine inside that shack. This food is so good its just stupid. I'm talking 'eat the crumbs off the napkin' good. If you stop there for lunch, you're going to be disappointed in whatever you cook for dinner by comparison.

Every time I visit the food is great and it's always busy. Would highly recommend it if you like pit beef.

Employees very rude and unprofessional. I've had two unfortunate encounters with this establishment. One took place on the phone and the other in person. I'm sure that the rudeness has shown its ugly face to others. Just because you have good reviews about how good your food is, doesn't give you the right to leave a bad taste in your customers mouth due to your attitude. We have to do better folks with our customer service!!!

We took a chance looking for good BBQ, we didn't find good BBQ here.... we found EXCEPTIONAL BBQ, Sausage, coleslaw hands down the best ever! Not only was the food great, but when we walked in we were greeted by every employee and treated like family. What a great place, they show their heart in the food for sure.....We will be back, again and again!

Don’t let the look of this place fool you. I ordered a combo sandwich, and Mac and cheese (beef and turkey) and it may have been the best pit sandwich I’ve ever eaten. The Mac and cheese was so good, I couldn’t stop eating it. It was so cheesy, and had such a good smoky flavor. The turkey was moist, the beef was tender, and they both had such good flavor. On top of that, it took about 5 minutes for me to walk in, order, and get my food. There is no wait. They have barbecue and tiger sauce for your sandwiches, which made them even better. The sandwiches are huge, and the price is insanely cheap for the amount of meat. I will definitely be back soon.

Not sure what heaven is like, but I’m pretty sure the people won’t be any nicer, the smell won’t be any more appealing, and the food won’t be any better. If you like hidden gem hole in the wall kind of places Jake’s the spot.

Fantastic small BBQ spot! The food is absolutely spot on, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. They are very efficient in getting a large line of people cleared. My go to is the pit beef (cooked to your preferred doneness) with a Mac n cheese side, highly recommend!

Jake’s grill is an awesome place to go if you want a huge pit turkey or beef sandwich. I work close to Jake’s and I try to treat myself at least once a month. Plus Jake’s prices are lower than a couple of other places that sell the same items that Jake’s sell.

Food is the best ever. I ordered a pit turkey sandwich. So much meat you wouldn't believe it. And the flavor of the turkey is the best I've ever tasted.

Stopped here for the first time. The pit turkey was excellent. Most restaurants today give you less for more money. If you want your money's worth and a quality sandwich, you won't be disappointed. I'm over an hour away but I will be back. It's that good

It's always a pleasant experience when I go to Jake's. They always answer the phone and the wait time after arriving is always less then 5 minutes. The food is PHENOMENAL and will definitely exceed your expectations.

My new favorite place, I could eat these sandwiches everyday!

Sad to say, 2 of our last 3 visits, my beef sandwiches were extremely poor because I was getting the end of the roasts and just about the entire sliced meat was shreds of bits and pieces of very little meat, lots of fat and gristle instead of nice full slices of lean beef. After picking through all the mess, I ended up with about 1 3rd of edible beef. To their credit, the first time this happened, they gave us a store credit to replace those sandwiches which turned out to be the great tasting pit beef sandwiches we've always gotten there. But just several days ago (10/2/23) we went there about an hour before noon and got home which is 25 minutes away to find that the beef again was even worst than the first time we had an issue. I always request no fat and gristle. I can't imagine getting as much fat and gristle if that's what I wanted. I don't like posting negative reviews and this may be the first time I've done this anywhere. And even though they may have given us another credit to replace, I really can't bring myself or my family to keep returning here and constantly worrying about this repeating itself

Incredible pulled pork, chicken, pit beef, sausage, turkey, & ham. The BBQ sauce is addictive & it's also one of the only pit beef places where you can always get rare beef. Good portions & prices. I've been going there >1x/week for years, and no matter how busy they were, I've always been in & out in <5 minutes. Jake is first-class business owner, one of a dying breed who truly values every customer, and he has a great group of guys working there, not to mention the ladies at the register. I have recommended Jake's to many people in my neighborhood, and people actually come back and thank me for introducing them to this local treasure. Five stars isn't enough for Jake's.

The food is ok. It's not anything special compared to other pit beef places around town, but the problem is that they lie about charges. I ordered 2 pit beef sandwiches at $8 a piece so after tax, $16.96. After swiping the credit card, the price on the screen changed to $18.70. I asked why the difference. The woman said it's a 4% charge that the credit card companies require, which is not how that works. And I believe Visa is about 3%. Anyway I said that's more than 4%. The woman disagreed. I showed her the math showing it's over 10% more. She said they post a little note mentioning the 4%. Again I mentioned that charging $1.74 over the $16.96 is over 10%. Again I was told I'm wrong and that's just how it is. Maybe just charge $8.50 a sandwich instead of lying about charges. I'll never return. It's not about a dollar. It's about the principle. The place has also gone downhill hygiene-wise. There's flies everywhere even in the condiments. Nothing is refrigerated and it's 80 something degrees outside. Place is filthy and they lie about fees. They are not worth supporting as a local business.

This was a first,but not my last time...Food was extremely good, service was friendly and polite. Prices were more than fair for the portions... I made it up in the tip box....This hidden gem 💎 is a must try.....Meat smoked to Perfection, someone is from Texas or down south.. My heads off to the pitmaster the staff and the whole establishment. Please keep up the good work and you will see me soon.

I got some pulled pork there on Friday 9/1/2023. I got extremely sick from it, vomiting and diarrhea. I would be very careful with this place. I will never return there

Well worth the drive I haven't found nothing in the city that comes close to Jake's. Love the portions and the prices. Also never had yellow watermelon until my last visit Great experience for me and my auntie.

Jake’s is outstanding! Pit beef and Turkey were delicious! First time I ever tried pit beef… juicy, meaty, full of flavor. Generous portions, too! Got a half rack of ribs and loved em. Fill of flavor, and cooked how I like em… meaty, not mushy falling off the bone. My preference! Sauces were good, too. And, the folks working there were really nice…and, all the customers were nice. Jake’s is a home run!
