I’m disappointed to share this, but this is not Jamaican food at all. I recently moved to the Denver area and was looking to find an authentic Jamaican food spot. I ate here about a month ago and as soon as I stepped in I knew this was NOT going to taste like Jamaican food at all but I thought let me give it a try anyway. I had the rice and peas with jerk chicken and my husband had the rice and peas with fry chicken. I’m a born Jamaican and I cook Jamaican food at home. The jerk chicken I make taste more like authentic jerk than what they make here. The food here is no where close to authentic Jamaican food. It’s just so upsetting that they label this place as Jamaican food. I’m not sure where they get there recipes but this food is no where close. I’m surprised they have such good reviews it seems that the people eating here do not know what Jamaican food should taste like. Don’t get me wrong the food taste fine and the serve was okay, but this is just NOT Jamaican food. It taste like a random person’s home cooked meal. I’m appalled by what they serve and is representing it as my cultures food when it’s far from it.

I’d been craving oxtails for a while and Jamaican Grill knocked it out of the park!! The ladies that took my order were great and polite and the food was very delicious!! It was worth every penny!! I will be coming back very soon

I used to visit this place every other week 3 years ago and the food was great then. Since I live in Aurora now I have not been here in quite some time. I had business in Denver so I decided to visit my favorite Jamaican spot and I was disappointed. The ox tails used to be about 2.5 inches thick,... now that are about an inch thick. If the cost ox meat is going up,... just raise the price to cover it! Don't skimp on the meat, cut the ox tails in half and expect someone like me not to notice. Again very disappointed. I got more bones in my dinner plate than meat. Then they were out of beef patties at 2 in the afternoon! that is supposed to be a Jamaican spots bread and butter. needless to say I will think again before visiting. Does anyone know of a better spot? we can visit from now on?

Call before noon for the Jamaican Patties and get them before there gone.

Great spot! We got the vegetarian platter, the fried red snapper, and beef patties. Everything was really really good. These are the type of local places that need to be supported!

RED FLAG! I pulled up and the cook was sitting outside in a van hanging out. I decided to patronize anyway. So I wanted the chicken pasta and wanted to add shrimp. The lady told me I couldn’t add shrimp for an extra fee but instead I had to order the whole shrimp pasta meal. I purchased the chicken pasta meal this is what I received. The lady handed this mess to me with a smile on her face. What a shame. I should have opened the bag before leaving. But drove 25 minutes to my hotel only having to order something else. Trash. Shut this place down.

Ordered take out through doordash and its always very delicious and large portions for the price

I was a bit disappointed to say the least. The goat curry sauce was bland and it was mostly bones. The jerk chicken was sweet and nothing like a real jerk chicken should be. Maybe they’re catering to uninformed Americans with a pallet of a six year old. If you want real Jamaican fair this may not be the place.

One of the employees is horrible! She is not professional and shouldn't have her job anymore. Watch out for the employee here.

The food is out of this world and Davi was amazing. She even send us home with drinks to go! I’m gonna go back and see her and order the chicken montego bay or the natural mystic!!!

As a West Indian residing in South Florida, I will say I am pleasantly surprised with this meal. My first bite was a piece of the chicken and I thought it can nyam but it got better as I continued to eat the meal. The food wasn’t spicy like other reviewers mentioned (the sauce was actually a bit too sweet in my opinion) nor does it compare to Fort Lauderdale, or NYC’s, Jamaican food but for Denver, it was one of my best meals here. I didn’t enjoy the potato salad and should’ve gotten the fried plantain but being that it isn’t something typically served on menus home, I figured I would try it. I’ll try this restaurant again when I am back in town and feeling homesick. PS - price in my opinion is a little high but you get a large portion for it. Jamaican food in Fort Lauderdale is typically $6-8 for chicken meals this size so my opinion on pricing is very biased.

Food had a funky smell, like it was about to go bad but it was okay.

Edit: 4 years later, still the best oxtail around!! Best oxtail in town for sure! Service is amazing as well. My wife and I are basically coming here every Saturday for our Jamaican food fix. Highly highly highly recommended! Pro tip: get your beef patties to go at the begining of your meal. They are excellent and they go fast!

Delicious food, terrible service, employees were almost entirely in the back, and spent the majority of the time shouting at each other. More than a little uncomfortable to be sitting in. Would recommend on strength of food, but as take out/order online only. Don’t spend any longer here than you have to.

Omg the food here is super fire . The menu looks small at first but it’s really extensive . Today we got the Jamaican jerk chicken and curry . I’m gonna have to say that the jerk here took my breath away . Omg I bought a to go plate right after I took a fire bite haha I’m gonna be back to try everything else in the menu but it’ll Be hard to skip the jerk chicken Bonus for the price point cuz the entries were HUGEEEEEE

The Food was so Good my husband and I wanted to check this restaurant out, so we came in with our 5 children , at first the vibe was a little off, uncomfortable….. (maybe I’m just too cheerful) but hunny the food was SO GOOD! delicious 😋, The owner was nice I picked up on her energy, beautiful !!! our family was Happy, even my children loved the food , when I asked our kids was it Good , they said mommy & Daddy it was “Bussin “ .😂 wonderful authentic food!!!

Only reason I'm leaving this is because I know they can do better and are worth 5 stars. Asked for extra sauce on side and plantains for jerk chicken. Didn't receive either. The sauce I understand, but not the plantains. Besides that, food is A1.

This is our favorite Jamaican place here in Denver. We highly recommend the jerk chicken, fried chicken, fried sea bass and oxtail. Ordering is super easy. It’s a small restaurant so you can either eat there or get it to go. This is a local business that started in 2013 and the owner is such a sweet lady. Love supporting our local businesses!

No. No…no. Big no!!!!ordered curry goat . First of all, I thought curry goat would have curry on it. Then the meat was not even seasoned and very gamey. The rice was dry. Cabbage was full of sugar. It went to the garbage. Total waste of money.

10/10! Absolutely loved it. We got the wings and the ribs. Wings were crispy and delicious; the ribs melted in my mouth. And for the first time I had brown rice that I genuinely enjoyed. The rice wasn’t just a bed of carbs for the meat to lay on, it was a flavorful accent that perfectly meshed with the flavors of the meat.

The food is really good and the people are all nice! It's not too much of a dine-spot though.

This is me and my fiance second time coming here and the food is great. The owner has great customer service and has a great environment. Definitely this is a go to spot. Definitely has authentic Jamaican vibes.

Yeaterday was my first time trying this restaurant and let's just say I wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent and the portion sizes of the food was great. The smell as soon as I opened this up was amazing. The restaurant it self smelled so good too! I really enjoyed the Curry Goat. I will be back 😋😋

Some of the best food I’ve ever had, will absolutely be returning to try different menu items. Service is also VERY fast. If you’re anywhere near Santa Fe and 8th ave you have to stop by.

I came in and saw a traditional islander. He had just finished eating. I asked him “is it authentic?” The immediate response was “yes”. He then told me it was his first time here. I ordered the jerk chicken. It was delicious. Came with Rice and potato salad.

Love this place, I've been looking for some good Jerk chicken and fried plantains, this is the spot. Royalty the owner, cook and a joy to spend any amount of time with made the experience even that better. As I mentioned I got the Jerk chicken which is served with a choice of side, and over a very generous serving of rice and beans. The flavor was great and the plantains were incredible. My husband got the shrimp pasta. I'm not big on pasta but this was very good. The shrimp were huge and the pasta was al dente with a mild sauce. Very tasty.

Went to Jamaica back in February and this place is by far the best representation I have had. Don’t skip on it.

Not good food or good price for what you get. Apparently this place’s only defense for their bad food is being the first and really only jamaican restaurant in Denver for 20ish years, maybe 20 years ago this place was the spot to go to but they must have grown complacent since then as it just isn’t worth your money. People have different tastes for different things, but that generally boils down to a few key aspects, amount and quality of flavor, presentation, and ethnic variety. Jamaican food really doesn’t vary much in the 2 latter aspects, so if people don’t like it they probably have specific tastes when it comes to the former. Edit Response to Owner: Just as I assumed, your only defense is your 20 years of establishment, if that is your only claim to fame than that is sad. Also I enjoy the subtle racist slight that since I am white and/or not Jamaican my tastes aren't authentic. Your food sucks, regardless of what color of skin or region I am from, I've been eating Jamaican food most of my life and I've simply never had food as bad as this that calls itself authentic Jamaican.

So I've been a couple times. The first time the ox tail was so good you'd slap your mama. The next time they i got the ox tail and it tasted ok but also seemed like they didn't cook it long enough compared to the first time. I just want to know, i know there's someone there that makes the best ox tail and others who... try. What days does the one who makes the amazing ox tail work? The cabbage was mouth watering and great potato salad. Just a little sad on the ox tail.

Nope they can't cook real island food up here. Horrible

Coming from South Florida this place hit the spot. The only time I can get Jamaican and Soul Food worth eating is when I make it here in Denver but this restaurant definitely changed that. I recommend the curry chicken (pictured) or the oxtail stew but all the food is amazing. Generous portions for price IMHO.

Every other Friday I get a half day and rush over her to get lunch at one of my favorite spots in Denver . Their jerk chicken is tender and delicious , their oxtail is fire and their spicy is actually spicy . I tried their red snapper this time and it was delicious. I really enjoy the food here at it reminds me of family meals..

Since I’ve lived in Denver this is the only Jamaican restaurant that exists in this city, and so I’ve attempted to go and enjoy a meal or three. The food isn’t bad but I’m from the east coast and my wife is Jamaican, it’s trash compared to NY city Jamaican food. The jerk seasoning is wet, it’s supposed to be dry. The rice and peas have no flavor, and not a hint of traditional Jamaican spices. In addition the portions are really small. Lots of rice which again had no flavor, and 3 very tiny slices of plantain. Plantain is not expensive so to be that cheap on a lunch special c’mon. The beef patties were ridiculously salty and dry. This is literally the only option for this food in the city. I’d rather just pay for a flight to Brooklyn for some authentic West Indian food than to spend money here again. Also they do not have D&G authentic Jamaican brand products or carry Ting! Even the African shops have this so the restaurant lacking in this product doesn’t make sense. This place just doesn’t measure up to West Indian, Jamaican, or east coast authenticity. Update: this place is not owned by Jamaicans it’s owned by Asians now so how sway anyway I’m sure it’s perfect for the palate of the folks that live in Denver

Best Jamaican restaurant in Denver, the staff is always friendly and respectful and the food is the absolute best. I highly recommend the oxtails!! Definitely worth trying out...

Haven’t had Jamaican food since we last were in NY so we were excited to have this place just a few blocks away from home. Very disappointed for numerous reasons. My Curry Shrimp was not curry at all. It was dry, rubbery and no curry flavor at all. It seemed like it had a homemade hot sauce on it (barely). My “dinner portion” was more of a lunch portion & they forgot my potato salad. She offered to have me pick it up or come in another day and then proceeded to ask me when I’d come to get it. The ox tail dinner plate came with 3 pieces of meat…I’m sorry but WHAT? The sauce for it had no flavor either and the meat was not as tender…ox tail we’re used to eating literally falls off the bone with a single bite. The only things that we somewhat enjoyable were the plantains and beef patty, but honestly…the beef patty was soggy after being placed in a brown paper bag that was wet. I wish I could say more positive things but coming from the East Coast, we know flavor, Jamaican culture is huge out there. Maybe it’s because businesses here have to “bland” their food out to please the “CO natives”…

I've seen this place online and finally stopped by. Ordered plantains,rice and beans and 2 beef patties. Good Food! I'm from Connecticut born and raised next to nyc. Grew up with Jamaicans, Columbians Guatemalan where the food has flavor. I will be going back to try other dishes. Good food, good food! Sean

Every dish we had was amazing! Can’t wait to try…everything! Patties - flaky and crispy dough with a soft juicy filling Jerk chicken - we got it got it hot. Smoky and delicious. I’m sweating a little bit just thinking about it. Love those scotch bonnet peppers. Chicken in brown sauce - thick and delicious Oxtail stew - also thick and delicious. Meat was tender and juicy Cabbage - light and delicious to compliment some pretty heavy dishes. Can’t wait to go back!

Authentic Jamaican food excellent service and great food not sure why there is so many negative reviews about this place because I had a great experience here and the food is authentic taste great looks great and it's definitely Jamaican! I am visiting from out of town and was in the mood for some Jamaican food. I ordered the red snapper with cabbage, to go, and was extremely disappointed with what I got. I have never received cabbage with frozen mixed vegetables in it before. (I know that they were frozen because the man at the restaurant told me they were frozen). I was also grossed out by the restaurant worker who was picking things up from off the floor with the same gloves he was wearing to bring me my food, and possibly prepare the food. 10/10 I do not recommend based on my red snapper order and what I saw when picking up my food.

This place is AMAZING!!!My wife and I were in the mood for something different and we ended up at Jamaican Grille.What a delightful surprise and the owner/chef, Royalty was such a gracious host.I've never had ox tail before so,I decided to give it a try and wow!Buttery and tender combined with exotic spices.Jamacan me crazy with these amazing flavors!Paired with a cold beer and a shot of rum,I was in heaven.I'll definitely be back.Thank you, Jamaican Grille!

Terrible Food! Came in town for the weekend and my wife found this place based off the ratings. We ordered 2 jerk chicken plates and beef Pattie’s. The jerk plates we’re chopped bones with very little meat and the beef Pattie’s were dryer out so bad that they had some kind of ashy look to them. And that wasn’t even peas n rice. Food wasn’t authentic. Terrible

What a sorry excuse for a restaurant. Ordered two oxtail plates and jerk chicken we only received one plate and the jerk chicken was disgusting. Then we called them and the b on the phone Wants to tell my husband that they aren't even on postmates and they didn't make our food. Couldn't keep up with her own lie. Learn how to cook and get some professionalism.

What a gem! My new favorite Jamaican restaurant. My friend and I ordered the jerk chicken, jerk ribs, and oxtail stew over coconut rice. Let me tell you, it was on point. The jerk chicken reminded me of the time I had jerk chicken in Jamaica. Delicious! The ribs were fall off the bone tender and boy was it tasty. Lastly, the oxtail stew over coconut rice was recommended by the chef, Royalty, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge but I couldn't stop eating because it was so good. Shout out to Royalty for cooking with love. It definitely shows. This place makes me want to try everything on the menu so I'll be back.

This place is one of my husband and I’s absolute favorites to hit when in Denver! We are back in town with some family this weekend and brought them along with us to experience this delicious food! My husband (Jamaican born) has tried many different places but none have come as close to his families authentic food flavor as Jamaican Grille! Also very pleased with the speed of our food coming out as we had a decently sized group and there was only one very sweet and welcoming gal working alone it seemed. Thanks girl!!

Royalty was really nice and outgoing. Food was delicious. We had the jerk shrimp with red beans and rice and plantains. We also has the jerk chicken with slaw and a beef and cheese patty. Very delicious and fun vibes inside.

A few years ago I gave this restaurant a bad review. Recently I picked up some food for a delivery from here and met with the owner who was a nice African-American lady I explained to her my interaction with her rude cashier last year. And how I really wanted to try the fried red snapper. She seemed visibly upset and informed me that she has since fired said cashier so now I am more than welcome to come in and get what I ordered I was very happy to see a black owned business thriving without rude cashiers or employees I will be going back here to get my fried red snapper soon

Got jerk chicken and rice and it was great! But when they say spicy! They mean spicy! (found out the hard way😂) but food was amazing!

In town visiting and looked this place up. My husband is Jamaican so he would know if food was going to be good... Unfortunately it was Soo gross!!! We ordered and then she rushed out basically since they close at 7 but we were there at 6:00, food came at 6:30! Not complaining about the wait but rushing people out is another thing! Glad we tasted or barley tasted the food before we left! We didn't want to make a big deal there, so we just left. The vegetables were horrible, my Curry shrimp was not curry shrimp! Seems like some kind of hot sauce was over the shrimp to make it spicy, I can do better than that! My husband had the Goat and it was saturated in goat sauce, and was horrible! We ended up getting a bag and got back to the hotel and threw it out, and went to cheesecake factory! What a waste of $48!! Never again! Hopefully we will try another spot in Denver cuz this was definitely not it!!!!!!!

This place has fallen off tremendously. I have frequented this place since it’s inception. I tried give this place the benefit of doubt based on its historical output of great meals I have enjoyed over the years. I have supported this establishment through the pandemic have brought family and friends here and promoted /recommended this place to every coworker. My last three meals have been straight trash! I can understand a reduction in portions because they were generous, but I can not overlook the degraded quality of the food. Not sure if there is a new cook in the last year or more but the food is not the same. It is not about the portion of the food. It is about the quality of it. The chicken was rubbery and not even edible. I would happily pay for half the portion of it was edible.I am done with this place after my jerk chicken meal today. Never again!!!!
