I ordered a small catfish dinner. The fish wasn't seasoned, was dried out, and tasted like old grease. It made my stomach hurt.

If you like fried food, this is well seasoned and plentiful. Lemon pepper is just the right touch. We had shrimp, fish, and wings along with a shrimp and fish sandwich. The fries are also well seasoned.

I ordered chicken for my job 1 they was beyond late I kept calling they kept saying 10 mins then I ask for the manager they said no manager at this time. Meanwhile I guess the driver got lost the man tells me what part you don’t understand they charged me 160 I swear to god I had 140 and I was going to tell him figure out the rest y'all is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and I told the driver I will never order from them again. I get upstairs to my job they only gave me 1 sauce and I had 100 pieces of chicken yall DONT ever order from them and I still want to talk to the manager I’m not going to stop until I do

Not seasoned food. The fries are good, as are the cakes, but the other foods were bland. Huge bummer.

Owner or manager on duty took my order but did not swing the screen back around for me to make my tip selection. He walked away to prep my order with the screen still up. I don't like it when merchants do this as they will sometimes select their own tip amount. I swung it around it did it myself. Food was as expected.

Ordered chicken Sandwich and it was pathetic. Worst eve

A delicious selection of fried fish and chicken, a full dinner for $15. The hot sauce tastes great. The local is very small, more properly for takeout than dine in.

This is not a good business. We were walking by and a homeless man outside stated he was hungry. It is the holy month of Ramadan we decided to do something good out of the kindness of our hearts. This restaurant is 100% halal as it claims so we thought he would understand. My husband ordered the food for the man and throughout the transaction, the man taking our order kept staring at the homeless man, knowing we were ordering for him. We kept saying we wanted wings and a pop, he was so focused on discriminating toward the homeless man he didn’t hear and had to do two transactions. He asked my husband if he trusted him and said that it was too late if my husband did not trust him because we already paid. He claimed that the homeless man was going to throw away the food like he always does. Why would he do that unless you tampered with his food? We acted out of the kindness of our hearts and this restaurant employee ruined it. I hope he gave this man his food but the way he acted was highly inappropriate and rude. I told the homeless man to eat somewhere else because the man was not kind and I don’t think that was fair. I would be weary about visiting this business.

The food here is over priced and it tastes old ... never eat here ..

This place seems to be somewhat hit or miss, and they knocked my order out of the park with large portions and tasty food! That said, the place was packed and things seemed a little chaotic behind the counter and in the kitchen - but it's Chicago, what else would you expect?

I've been visiting this place for years. Best hot wings in downtown Chicago. They don't skimp on the lemon pepper or the hot sauce. I would recommend this place to anyone. And it's very affordable compared to the other place around the area.

They serve old food. My perch was dried out and old. My chicken was old as well. You can tell they dipped it in grease to try to cover it up. Fried too. Pile of old food in a lot of grease

I ordered a small order of catfish(bone-in) and they provided me with catfish fillets because that’s what they wanted me to have. The catfish fillets were hard and I’m ultimately 100% annoyed and will never order from this location again. I called and was presented with attitude after they messed up my order. I’m so disgusted with my order and the service. I order from J&J’s all the time and never have I ordered catfish and received fillets.

Went to JJ’s for my first time during lunch hour and asked for catfish to-go. Got back to work and was given the wrong order. The shrimp was dry and no lemon was put in the bag.

Food is good, but sometimes they saturate the food.

I ordered a combo meal that had two types of fish. I got catfish and Jack Salmon or at least that's what I ordered. When I received my food the fish was fried so hard that all I received was Bones and fried skin. Not a good look especially for the price. And the fries had seemed to be re redropped in the grease.

I have eaten here several times, and the food is excellent, the chicken, the fish, the burgers... All products are fresh, the boss is very nice, I highly recommend! And above all the meat is halal with label. Thanks a lot. 🙏

It was my first time there, nice little spot downtown for some good fried chicken and fish, the staff is super friendly and the food was good! The food was not pricey at all either. I would come back again for lunch.

Every time I have a large event I come to this JJ, owner and staff are reliable and the food is amazing. One time I had an event when this store was closed and the owner and his wife came in to ensure my event was successful. 10/10 I recommend!

Great fried fish; a regular stop whenever in Chicago!

Food was fresh and absolutely smackin. Way too pricey for what it is though.

We got the perch basket. The fish was flavorful and crispy! The dinner basket I think includes coleslaw, which ours did not. The fries were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with so much flavor! I would definitely recommend this place and come here again. The service was friendly and very quick!

Worst lunch I’ve had in a very long time. Fried catfish tasted like dirt. Spit it out and threw away $13 for lunch. Never wasting my money there again.

I thought that since we' are in the downtown area that this venue would Have better Food than The one By my House. I Found it To be expensive for the quality. It smelled so bad in the car, like rotten eggs. The food made my stomach upset by the taste of dirty oil. I cant believe a restaurant would serve people food like that. I threw out my 15 piece wings because the catfish fillet nauseated our stomachs.They need there license revoked. Health and sanitation needs to close you all down.

JJ has the best fried chicken in the loop. Actually, it might be the only fried chicken in the loop aside from Popeyes. I am a huge fan! The chicken is always piping hot, made to order, fresh, AND they sprinkle lemon pepper seasoning on it for you and this just sends it right over the edge when doused in the hot sauce. The perch and the catfish are the best. JJ reminds me of my father and his fried meats and seafood. And, its all reasonably priced. It gets cramped, and can be a bit of a wait since meals are made to order, but its so worth it. Try the cakes too. Notably the red velvet and caramels.

Love the food here but something always goes wrong with online orders. Today, they only started making it when I walked in, and there was only two people in there before me. They also left sizable bones in my boneless chicken, and it was supposed to just to be lemon pepper but I got this instead. Still, a good warm meal; Just wrong, and DRENCHED in this sauce.

Popped in here for some lunch during lollapalooza. Ended up getting the catfish fillets. The portions are generous, the fish was well cooked and seasoned, the breading was spot on, and the french fries were seasoned great.

Ordered ahead of time, got there and my order still wasn't ready, it was wrong as well. The man behind the register was rude as hell.

The store is always clean and they have fresh food everytime I go the lady In the back cooking cooks the best this is a 5 star restaurant ,in 2021 if you go here you won't be disappointed (peace )

Estaba en Hungría y buscaba comida kosher o halal. Este lugar estaba cerca del parque. Este lugar está limpio, con una bonita decoración y un personal amable y acogedor. Pido hamburguesa y pollo en polvo son deliciosos. El precio es barato. En mi opinión, este restaurante sirve increíble pollo frito. Este restaurante cierra los domingos.

Me gusta la ubicación, piezas de pollo, pollo tierno, sándwiches, menús halal, precio asequible, el servicio es estupendo.

El ambiente es barato mixto, al borde de la pobreza. Lo mejor que se puede decir es que los ingredientes son reconocibles como verdaderos ingredientes y el personal es amable. abastecedores de la República Federativa de Yugoslavia y más tarde- o artes, esta es una llevar mixto con pocos asientos en forma de prendería de taburetes de bar en los mostradores de la pared. Mi elección de los nuggets de bagre y camarón (maltratada, justo encima de camarones palomitas) no era su mejor que ofrece. No vienen con patatas fritas aunque no lo anuncian como tal. Se podría decir que fue claramente pescado genuina bajo el fuese harina de maíz. Yo iría a los filetes y camarones Jumbo si tratando a cambio en la proporción de peces a gusto cultivo. mojar salsas calientes (similar a Tobasco), suave (un poco como cóctel salsa), y el ketchup. vestidor de la finca estaba disponible para otro huésped a petición especial.

Good catfish and cheap. The fries were a little soggy/not crispy, but that might just be the way they make them.

I like the freshness off the menu, fried to likeness. During lunch time can be crowed, food preparing will be slow due to crowd.

Love JJ's, the fish & wing combo is my go to comfort food, sauce on the side with a little extra lemon pepper, man oh man!
