Going to Kay's each year has been a family tradition for about 5yrs now. My sister in-law comes back home from Florida just to come here for the Pizza. It's always the Appetizers & Pizza for us!

Food was just okay. There were 6 of us and we all got something different, including pizza and wings, which they are "famous" for. Waited about an hour and a half before seated. After reading reviews we learned it's been sold to new owners. Maybe they should change the name since, according to everyone else, the food isn't the same. Nice view of the water, though.

Me and my family love this place. The pizza is great and it’s not expensive. All of the staff is kind and outgoing. You have to catch them while they’re open because they close down during winter months.

Our family loves Kay’s pizza! Their margarita pizza is excellent. We love their Thai Chili Chicken pizza. Sitting outside by the lake is beautiful. The kids love to go there after a day of kayaking on lake. Parking is kind of crazy. So be prepared to walk!

Hey, Kay's is awesome! We come here every season for their pizza. 🍕 If I could be a professional pizza critic and get paid for it, that would be my dream job! 🍕😋 Kay's has been around for ages! I've been coming here every season since 2012, but there are some customers who are like family, they've been coming here since forever, like my mother-in-law and my wife, who used to live here on Burden Lake. It's called Famous for a reason! You'll see cars lined up all the way down the road, over the dike, and up both sides of the hill just to get a seat at Famous Kay's Pizza. 🚗🍕 They've done some renovations outside along the lake. Pizza was just OK. Maybe I’m picky coming from closer to the city, but it was just…OK. Not bad, not good, just OK. Cool spot though.

Pizza is our favorite, the Kay's Special. The restaurant has the red checkered table clothes and the floor is wood and wave and the table wobble and it all works! It just has character and a great summer place to go. Or now you can sit outside next to the lake, one of the best things they did thanks to covid.! Keep it up Kay's!

Sorry I just don't understand the allure of this place. I've tried it several times thinking maybe I caught them on a bad night but I guess it's just me. If you think this is the best pizza in NY, clearly you haven't been south of the Tappan Zee bridge. So just and edit, in the last few years the pizza has improved 100%, my husband and granddaughter love the steamers, I really enjoyed the coconut shrimp. If you love Anti pasta don't order it here. The staff is super friendly and so attentive. Beautiful lake view. Eat outside it's cooler and not so crowded. All and all, I hate to admit it but it's become one of my favorite summer places.

My wife and I go to Kay’s on Burden Lake at least once or twice a month. Pizza is great and a good local beer selection. Great location to sit by the lake relax and enjoy the view. Staff is always great.

Many locals rate this pizza parlor as offering one of the best pizzas in the area. I agree the pizza is good is it the best, that is in an individual preference. Limited parking and obscure area makes this a destination restaurant. A seasonal lakeside camp atmosphere with tight quarters, crowded tables, and noisy environment might make this less than a desirable experience for some.

Used to be the best pizza in the world bragged about it everywhere I went got one tonight a large crust was tough size with small to toppings $21. Not like it used to be.

I am amazed! Over 1300 reviews and a rating of 4.7? People in Averill Park must have never had a good pizza. This garbage was one step above Cumberland Farms and Stewarts pizza. Not quite as good as Chuck E Cheese despite looking like I just left a kids party with a ball pit. I am Italian and grew up in Rotterdam where you can throw a dead cat and hit a genuine good pizza place. I cannot describe how bad this 'pizza' place and I use the term pizza loosely, actually is. Burnt to a crisp and still managed to be soggy. The cheese was decent, the sauce was not good and the crust was totally tasteless, as was the pepperoni. I have better frozen pizza. I seriously have. On a brighter note, the take out service was very good and the scenary was nice. I simply cannot understand how it earned a 4.7 rating. Did 1300 people love the view that much? This 'pizza' easily ranks in the top three worst pizza I have ever had. If it was possible to give negative stars, I would. You have been warned.

This is one of the best pizzerias in the area. Worth the wait every time we go. In addition to great food, the local area is absolutely beautiful and the lakeside spot is charming.

Drove 45 mins to try their famous pizza. Started with a large Antipasto which was really a tossed salad with ham and salami, nothing about it made it an Antipasto. Very bland dressing as well. Ordered a large pizza with three toppings, pizza had good flavor but was cut into bite size pieces. If I want famous pizza I will stay in Schenectady.

To the people that live there or used to, I can see how its nostalgic, and I appreciate the community and the service. I just find it intersting that you can only get a pie or a seat in less than favorable weather. Otherwise,, there's a "problem" with the phone service or the Internet. To be honest, it's a ratty lake lake filled with reed and algae. If some were to invest (real).money you might have something. The food, as a whole, is better at hannaford, and the pizza is better across the street .

UPDATE: After the brief blip in their usual high quality that inspired my review below, Kay's is back to to quality foods and service. The review below is obsolete. Uh oh. I've been going to Kay's for many years. While this is definitely a capital district style pizza, not remotely similar to NY style pizza, I am nevertheless a big fan. I have previously gladly given Kay's 5 stars.Tonight was our first visit to Kay's this season. And it was a big disappointment. The pizza was just not very good. I hope it was just the result of getting new cooks up to speed with the recipe and the process.

Uncooked, Wife brought a pie home for me. The dough was raw. Been there in person much better than take out.

Stopped by today for opening. Pizza is the best around. Must be if I drive from Pittsfield 45 min drive. Was a little disappointed in the wings. A little dry for me. I like more sauce. Last yr they were perfect. Maybe I should have ordered a little more sauce on the side.

Awesome old school restaurant and bar that hopefully will never change. Great waterside location with a good beer selection and a better pizza selection. I've never had anything other than pizza and wings but I would guess everything else is very good as well.

Great to see the place still operating. I was here 50 years ago! Missed the peppers and mushrooms, but the sausage and black olives pizza was very good!

Have kayaked this lake a few times and never ate here. Out and about over the weekend and made the short trek over and finally got to sample. The garlic, Parm wings were wonderful and the pizza was worth the hype. Try it sometime... better hurry as they are closing for the season this weekend I think.

Great pizza and service a1 spot to go

Who doesn’t love Kay’s?! I’ve been multiple times before but this was my first time sitting outside. The tables inside also felt much less cramped with this outdoor space added, after Covid. Despite parking making it look like it’d be a long wait, we were seated within 10 minutes. We got the onion petals, calamari and Hawaiian pizza. My family loved it all! Surprisingly my 3 year old loved the calamari most! Food came out jock and was tasty and reasonably priced! Can’t wait till next year so we can go back and try something new!

My favourite place to grab pizza in the region. Lovely setting in summer overlooking the lake and the pizzas are delicious (just don't expect a thin base and you'll be happy).

We have eaten here a couple of times over the last year, and my opinion is that this place likely lives off of nostalgia. The food was ok, but certainly nowhere near the best pizza I’ve ever had. They are open seasonally for folks looking to eat here who aren’t familiar. The good: This place has a great location and a very nice view of the lake. It feels like an old neighborhood restaurant and is pretty lively. They have tables inside and out so you can enjoy the restaurant from your preferred location. The service we had both times was good. It is a bit loud at times so isn’t a place you will be able to have a deep conversation, but good for families with kids or for a drink with friends at the end of the week. I enjoyed the ambiance overall, and would probably come here for a drink and maybe an appetizer once in a while for the view and the atmosphere mostly. The not so good: After seeing all of the great reviews, we ordered the pizza. It was not very good in my opinion. It was oily and the sauce was way too tangy. It was like a homemade version of a Dominos pizza, which some people may really like, but is not what I’m looking for when I order a pizza. It was also a bit pricey for what you get imho. Pretty sloppy and cooked a bit over or under (based on the few pies we tried). The meatballs were hard, yet somehow the other toppings didn’t feel like they were cooked well enough and threw all textures off a bit. Overall we were disappointed given all of the 5 star reviews as our expectations were pretty high. I can understand why people like this place, but there are far better options for food in the area.

Hugely popular eating establishment. People love it. And I can't understand why. Crowded, noisy. Rickety building on the verge of collapse. Pizza really isn't that good. People can easily make better pizza at home.

Granddaughters loved revisiting, the games etc. Scallops, pizza, etc were all excellent. Prepare to wait for a table, worth the wait, parking is interesting

Kay’s is the very best, super laid back, right on the water, amazing pizza served minutes after you order it. Great servers and staff! The perfect place for a summer family meal! It will forever be a favorite in my family ☺️

Been dying to try this place!! Finally got there! Ordered 2 pizzas... Hawaiian which was absolutely phenomenal! And My own personal creation. I was slightly disappointed they did not have fresh mozzarella, or spinach to add to my white pizza with mushrooms, but the pizza was still awesome! Also, a bit pricey, when you add your own toppings individually....We ate at the bar, it was hot as hell in there, but raining outside where we wanted to sit. Great service, loved our bartender!!

We had pizzas and they were good, not amazing. It is obviously a very popular place with really wonderful views. It can get loud with how many families with children there are. If you are looking for a quiet place, look elsewhere. Overall it was a nice experience.

We live only 10 minutes away and it’s our favorite place to go for pizza. The pizza is delicious, staff is friendly, and service is good. Kay’s Special is my favorite. Their crust is the best. They also have great wings and drink selections.

A great pizza place with exceptional food at a very reasonable price. You can get specialty pizzas here along with a litany of different appetizers, Italian dinners along with various cocktails and beer. The place has an outside seating beside the Burden Lake with a magnificent view.

Great pizza and great location!

I used to love Kay's Pizza when I was little. The staff were polite and everything was cooked perfectly. There way about a 2-5 minute wait to get on the phone with someone because they are busy. Now-after Covid and a new owner the place is a total train wreck. It takes 30 minutes or longer to get on the phone with somebody. And once you do get on the staff are brain dead. They act like they are severely hard of hearing. Today, my grandmother called and once she got to placing the order the woman whom she was on the phone with started loudly saying "What?! What?! What?!" then she hung up. The staff are just plain rude, for example if they can't hear you on call or in restaurant they will rudely say "Can you please speak up." Plus the food is so expensive for the presentation they give you. Last time we ordered we got two flavorless burnt pizzas for $67!!! The people at the counter or on the phone will give you different prices each time if you order the same thing as you did last time. Kay's used to be my favorite pizza restaurant. Now it's at the bottom of my list.

We (4) arrived on a Saturday at 4:45 and were seated outside immediately. We even were lucky enough to park right in their parking lot. Service was fast and friendly. Our server, Olivia, was pleasant and answered our questions. We ordered antipasto, a large Kays special, and a medium pepperoni. Everything came out perfect. Prices have increased since last year, but that was expected. They also had a good variety of beers on tap. We usually order to go, but we loved the outside space.

We always loved Kay’s pizza went there last week pizza was terrible not cooked loaded with cheese hardly any sauce got meatball on it was burned hard as a rock ,thought maybe it was just a bad day just talking to my friend who was there last night said the pizza was awful same as I said but her daughter got a vegetable pizza it was so sloppy they couldn’t eat it this is very said I hope they wake up Kay’s has always a great summer night out won’t go again sad that was the second time for my friend she said both times it was awful

This place is awesome! There's something about eating in there and sitting at the bar that's just like no other place around. They're scallops are absolutely phenomenal! The pizzas a perennial Award winner and their chicken wings are super underrated. Just a heads up the hot are hot. I suggest bacon, clam, onion white pizza. Accompany that with cold pitcher of beer and you are all set.

Overpriced "stand food", pizza was a bit too saucy this time. $200 for 5 people....I don't think so... and I think they can stuff some more toys in the claw game so no one can get a toy! 🙄, watch out for the one waitress... she's a mean one👿
