Food great, slow service (inattentive to certain parties).

The food was okay. We ordered a sushi combo and the cut was too big. The roll was not done with care. The rice is not sushi rice or not cooked the way it suppose to be cooked. I understand why it has high ratings as when I look at the reviews they all have rolls or ramen. I am still looking for a sushi place in Western Mass that is authentic Japanese, high quality fish and great service.

We've been here quite a few times, both online order for takeout and dine in. We've never had a bad experience or bad food. The food is extraordinary and made with love and care for every item you order. The staff is wonderful and attentive. Shoutout to Joe for always making the best and most beautiful sushi dishes. They are SO good! Would recommend this place for anyone wanting sushi, Ramen, hibachi. Literally everything on the menu is delicious!

All the rolls we got, kimchi fried rice, seaweed salad, and miso soup were delicious. Very well seasoned! Put other local restaurants to shame with how flavorful and unique their food is. The only thing I didn't like was that the server brought us the check without asking if we wanted dessert.. which we did! It seemed odd to be rushed when the place was just shy of empty. Anyways, overall a great experience, and we'll be back to try more special rolls!

Best sushi in the area. Make sure you try the sea urchins. Update 04/2024 The quality of the food went down the last three times we were there. The fish was chewy and the rice was dry. The music was very weird and not suitable to the restaurant. There are better option in the area. Too bad, this used to be our favorite sushi place.

It was amazing food and good service but when we went there it was kind of empty

Food was overcooked, they forgot our shrimp and salads, noodles were tasteless and bland, there were burnt bits scattered though out the food. Waste of almost $70......

My husband and I have been going there for years and they have always been consistent in their service, food preparation and presentation. Everything we’ve tried has been fresh and great tasting and the presentation always excellent. Kuddos to them for their continued labors ensuring excellent quality of food and service. Omg I had a great experience and everything was good even the Shirley Temple drink which is nonalcoholic was so good. The only thing I didn’t like was the soup. ( make sure you bring cash just in case the computer system is down )

Sat and ordered in and the food was great. Ordered take out and it was not. Got the Korean Bulgogi and it was over cooked and very dry. Didn't even finish eating it. Also got the Kani salad which was very good.

Overall, okay. Hungrey roll was good. Others had old Shrimp in sushi. California rolls dry and stale. Miso was too saltey. Bulgogi was too greasy. Certainly lost the edge.

Love love this place. The food is fantastic and beautifully served. They really take the extra step of making the food art while being fairly priced. In addition, service is always great and good people working here. Always go out of my way to come here, love you guys!

Sushi, ramen, and all the specials and appetizers we've tried were excellent!

Absolutely delicious. We sampled quite a bit off of the menu between the four of us as it was our first time here. The menu is truly Asian fusion and there is something for everyone. Everything was on point from the sushi to the bulgogi tacos to the bibimbap. Service was excellent and we did not have a long wait as others have experienced. Will definitely dine here again.

Great food took an extraordinarily long time to arrive

Had the pork belly tacos, seasonal special lobster Rangoon and the sushi combo. Was not disappointed in any of these dishes. Would definitely recommend the pork belly tacos to anyone looking for a great fusion dish or someone that wants something other than sushi. Cant wait to try the bulgogi tacos and spicy salmon tacos on the return visit.

Service was great but man, the food is delicious. Had Korean Fried Chicken, Pork Belly Tacos, Rainbow Roll, Lion King Roll, and some other roll but everything was a 10/10. Presentation was there. Taste was there. It tasted like everything was made with love.

Holy smokes, this place impresses me every time. From the firecracker roll to the hibachi and teriyaki options, everything is always fresh and high quality. I've been sick and a friend dropped off their Ramen and WOW. The broth is unbelievably good and the portion is very generous. What a hidden gem!

We were pretty annoyed with the service and food. If we hadn't asked several times after a 30-minute wait, we think we would've been stuck there for a whole 50 minutes, rushing to finish our food in 10 minutes. If you're swamped with takeout orders, it would be really helpful to let customers know how long it will take, especially if it's going to be 50 minutes. There were only three tables with customers around 7 pm, but after a 30-minute wait, we had to go up to the front and ask about our ramen and fried chicken. Finally, the waiter brought the fried chicken. When we asked about the ramen, they told us it would be another 20 minutes. That meant we had just 10 minutes to wolf down the ramen because they close at 8 pm. We didn't want to waste a whole hour waiting, so we decided to cancel the two ramen orders and settle the bill. However, five minutes later, another waiter hurried over with the ramen noodles. The 40-minute wait resulted in an overly greasy classic ramen and burnt pork, which was even worse than last time.

Really kind service! Very accommodating to a vegetarian diet. The sushi and ramen are excellent.

The food and service is fantastic. In my opinion 1 of the best Sushi 🍣 locations in all of western Massachusetts.

the ramen isnt fresh, just warmed up package noodles. the hot and spicy comes with 3 small peices of meat (which is laughable) so plus 2 dollars on the already 16 dollar SOUP. Then after i order im informed 45 minutes, for soup. avoid this place, its overpriced laziness.

Looks are deceiving from the outside it looks a bit upscale, but the inside is rustic and has the feel of a sports bar. The service was good enough. The sushi and rolls were interesting and flavorful definitely something they're good at. The rice and ramen noodles dishes were not. Instead of flavorful or spicy - They were boring and the only spice used was a hot sauce or miso broth. The ramen noodles were tasteless cheap, the pork was really good. But the choice of vegetables and lack of a great broth took away from the satisfaction you'd find in a really good ramen 🍜 soup.

My wife and I have been looking for a good sushi in the New England area since we moved here from Florida. MasterChef fits the bill beautifully.

Moved to western mass from Boston a few months ago and have been searching for good Ramen out here. This place is easily the best Ramen in western mass, everywhere else just lacks in flavor, color and texture. Master Chef is comparable to the delicious quality ramen at Totto and Ganko Ittetsu in Boston.

Love the food. Always consistent in flavor. The atmosphere is great and the staff is always great too.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant, hands down the best Sushi rolls in Western Mass. 10/10 service from our waitress Yanna, very short wait time even on a Friday night. Everything was brought out on time and orders were exactly spot on. All food had immaculate presentation and taste, the food is noticeably fresh compared to other sushi restaurants that use frozen ingredients. Absolutely recommend and will certainly be returning ASAP!

The sushi was fresh and delicious. We had the firecracker roll and spicy tuna to start. I had spicy seafood ramen bowl. The broth was rich and loaded with flavor but not heavy. It was perfect. My partner in crime loved his ramen bowl too. Highly recommend!

Master chef is a culinary delight. You can really see the art and dedication with each dish. The food tastes fresh and bursting with flavor. Our server "Tess" was extremely friendly and right on point with her service. Master Chef easly out classes local compitition.

This place has freshly prepared food that is extremely tasty. Byob is great as it keeps your cost down. The service is remarkably attentive and friendly! I should've posted much earlier as I ate there so much last summer!!

Food is flavorful but over seasoned. All dishes are a bit too salty for us except the sushi and salad. Service was excellent.

Love this place! Food is fantastic but hands down the kindest service around.

My gosh what a hidden gem. Never heard of this place until we moved nearby. Big city quality and menu creativity with small town portions (generous). Food: We've ordered off the sushi and the primary menu. Sushi menu has variety without being overwhelming. Main menu has a variety of Japanese and Korean faire with some fusion items. (See pork belly tacos!) Portions were above expectations, especially these days! Shoyu, Miso, and Tonkatsu ramen? Japanese curry too! (so rare in the states) All on one menu? Sign me up. Kimchi ramen: Great flavor, meat was juicy, noodles firm, tonnes of veg, and the broth was...*chefs kiss*. Sushi: Good size, fresh, and my lord that's a lot of wasabi. All good! Service: We've been twice and both times the service was way above expectations. Super friendly & very helpful. I normally focus on food for reviews, but I really can't emphasize this enough. Whether it was genuine or they were just good at their jobs, the servers seemed genuinely happy. I hope management is treating them well, because they damn deserve it! Recommendations: Only two - 1. Needs Wi-Fi: It's a pet peeve of mine. But I really appreciate even some basic Wi-Fi for customers. Especially when the cell service is very spotty, T-Mobile and Verizon are 1 bar at most. 2. Bao: I loved the tacos but I would love to see a steamed bun option. Maybe I'm just conditioned by Momofuku, but I love a good Pork Belly Bao before a bowl of ramen. (curse you David Chang!) Overall: 10/10 Will come again.

As a South Hadley resident it’s perfect that the best restaurant in the area is just down the street. Been taking my time to try everything on the menu and it’s ALL 5 stars or somehow better. All fresh, beautiful presentation, and taste out of this world. You can tell how much the staff cares by what will be put in front of you but also always open to great conversation. If we did not live here we’d drive hours for this amazing food prepared and served by amazing people. Thank you Master Chef!!!! 🤘🏽

I had heard good things about master chef, and I finally was able to visit. Long story short, they have great food. The rolls and sushi was good, but I was especially surprised with the quality of the ramen. I visited during lunch time, but I definitely will try the dinner menus as well.

If you like shusie you'll love it here. Fresh, delicious and reasonably priced for today's market.

Suprising find in a small town! We were visiting friends locally and they recommended MasterChef for their sushi. I was pleasantly surprised not only at their prices, but also yhe quality of the rolls we had. We ordered 11 rolls from across the menu right after they opened and were driving home with them less than 30 minutes later. Great staff and cool environment. Definitely worth a stop!

Why. Why do people think this is good sushi? This is way too much rice with like 20% of ingredients. I consider that a scam. Yeah, it's a 'bang for your buck' because they're cheating you by giving you all rice and no ingredients. Just look at my or really anyone elses pictures. If you care about quality sushi don't come here. Edit: Whoever manages their Google listing keeps deleting my pictures. Nice going guys. As I said, look at the pictures they don't delete and my review stands. The hot food looks delifious honestly (save for the gum destroying deep fried gyoza, what a shame), but the sushi pictures range from 'eh' to 'wow that's tons of rice, thanks'.

Was very good! Had tonkatsu Ramen that was amazing. Broth was rich but easily went down and the toppings were on point. Was a nice atmosphere with friendly staff.

This place is great if you like Japanese style foods. I wouldn't call it authentic, but it's pretty close. The ramen, while not made in the traditional ways, is really quite good. I tried some of the other dishes as well and all of it was pretty good. The real star of this place though is the sushi. The cuts of fish were great, the rice was fantastic, everything was good! The only complaint I have was the small parking lot for the amount of people that the restaurant could fit. Wasn't a big enough issue for me to knock down the rating though as the food was fantastic.

HOW have I never heard of this place??? I’ve never even noticed it despite thousands of trips up and down 202. It is SO GOOD! I was randomly looking for a quick place to pick up some food one day after walking my dog in South Hadley, and came across MasterChef (thanks google) which had some takeout sushi options. So I got a couple of veggie rolls and chicken hibachi. It was beyond words, just what I was looking for, I felt so satisfied afterwards. This is some of the best sushi I’ve had. I will absolutely be making this a regular on my list of places to grab some great food on my commute.

Food was good really enjoyed the sushi the shoyu Ramien was ok the first sip was very good as it settles it become salty just a tad, but other than that it was good bulgogi was tasty

I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant, every single time I leave I have a massive grin on my face. Its just one of those places you can't help but love. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is exceptional, and the food is delicious all for an amazingly reasonable price. Plus BYOB! I cannot say enough good things about Master Chef!

One of the best restaurants for Japanese food in Western MA

The ramen was pretty good. Pork was AMAZING but expected more with the egg and mainly the broth. Broth was just too thick, salty, and strong. Overall it was good though.

My boyfriend and I tried Master Chef for the first time and had an amazing experience! The sushi was so inventive, fresh, and delicious. The miso soup was flavorful and it felt welcoming that they gave a few fried dumplings on the house to start. Our waitress was incredible, friendly, knowledgeable, and was great to chat with about the restaurant/menu. She had awesome recommendations and really made our meal a nice one :). Everything that came out of the kitchen had an artful, colorful, and fresh presentation. We will def be coming back! Thanks Master Chef

Every time my family and I eat at this restaurant one of us always says “that was the best meal I have ever eaten”. I’m not sure what else to say. You will not be disappointed.

The food is amazing! The veggie box lunch special is so good- their tempura is the best. The shrimp from hibachi is deliciously seasoned. Sushi is fabulous of course. Service is friendly!

Update: I've been back and there have been no further mask issues with staff. Updating my star rating!! MASK ISSUES WITH STAFF BUT GREAT FOOD. I have never been to Master Chef but have heard great things. They have a nice online menu in which you can order and pay online. You are given an estimated time which was reasonable at 65 minutes on a Friday evening. Upon arrival, you get into a car pickup line. (So far so good!!) There are easy to read instructions posted on their main door with a number to call when you arrive. Had this not been covid times, this restaurant would likely be getting 5 stars because the food was really great but the woman who brought my order out to the car DID NOT HAVE ON A MASK. This is alarming. In order for her to hand the food to me, we are less than 6 feet apart. It is likely no masks are being worn inside at all... I am trying to support local but it is hard when places are blatantly disregarding the safety of their customers. The food is 5 stars but if you don't want yo catch COVID 19 maybe skip Master Chef for the time being...

After moving to Western MA from AZ, I was on a hunt for a good sushi place that’ll become my frequent. After 4 years Master Chef never disappoints and absolutely deserves every single 5-star rating. Fresh food and great customer service.

I've been to Master Chef multiple times and always love it. The set up they have for the pandemic is nice, it definitely makes me feel pretty safe when picking up food. The food itself is absolutely worth it, I especially love anything with bulgogi and the bipimbap.

I was just looking for a different place to try since we have been in quarantine from Corvid-19. My husband had the Shrimp Killer roll and the Miso Ramen soup, I also ordered the Chicken Hibachi with brown rice and the Beef Hibachi so we can have leftovers. We were very pleased with the order, very fresh ingredients and so tasty, every bit was just perfect. The best we have ever had.This place will definitely be on our favorites list. Hopefully soon we can go eat inside and enjoy our meal there.

Best sushi in the western ma area. Comfy home-like feel inside. Hard to find parking sometimes, but that just goes to show how good it is.

The Hot and Spicy Ramen was the best I’ve ever had and my wife’s Hibachi chicken was perfect. The street side of the restaurant looks like a house so it’s easy to pass by, but you’ll be sorry you did. The interior was warm and inviting, and the staff was happy to have us there. I’m looking forward to my next visit already.

Excellent food and service. We tried almost ten different things. After the huge appetizers the server asked if we were gonna eat more and we said yes and she said "Ok... Round 2". 😂😂😂 Love her. Can't wait to go back.
