Been here many times. But I had my best meal experience there recently when my boss & his wife took my coworker & I to treat us to an awesome lunch. Each of our meals were fantastic! Not only were our meals cooked to perfection, but the servings were very generous. And the staff was friendly & attentive. *My recommendation: Churrasco w/Chimichurri, Moro & Plantains...🤤🤤🤤👍👍👍

GOOD FOOD! Very good Cuban restaurant, correct prices and fast and efficient service. We recommend the ropa vieja and the fish dishes, all spectacular. You can choose 2 accompaniments with each dish, we recommend fried plantain and cassava. All the desserts they have are casseroles, we tried the tocinillo de cielo and the chocolate ice cream, very good! Too bad we're only in Miami for 1 day, otherwise we'll be back for sure!

Excellent Cuban restaurant. To do if you are in Miami not far from little Havana. Cuban specialties, very pleasant service, very reasonable prices. Less than 20 dollars for a very hearty dish.

The small lobby was raining, there were many waiting to be served, I almost got wet, the seat they gave me was dirty and in the end they forgot part of my order.

We ordered 2 palomillas, but Gretel, our waitress, brought us two grilled chicken breasts, so far everything is normal, anyone can make a mistake, the unfortunate thing was her response "I'm not going to get into a disagreement with you, but I wasn't wrong." It was you”, Friends of La Carreta, teach Gretel something basic, it is IRRELEVANT who was wrong, her ONLY response should be, “excuse me, I'll change your plate there and order what you want”. If it weren't for the fact that we ended up eating what we didn't order, we could forget that: we ran out of water and our glasses were never filled, that he picked up the plates from the table without asking first, that he served us food and there were no cutlery on the table.

Great, authentic Cuban food! Good prices. The staff was helpful with menu choices. Will go back next time in Miami!

The food was very average but what impressed me most was seeing pigeons walking all over the kitchen and the cooks as if nothing had happened, it seemed very disgusting to me. This should be reported to the health department.

This old, dirty, and tired restaurant with pigeons in the kitchen is a clear health violation. Zoom in on the pictures; there are many more. It's disgusting.

My boyfriend and I both got the norovirius (ie stomach flu) after eating here. We were sick for 2 days. Save yourself the headache (and all the other symptoms) and go somewhere else. Came here with a group after a funeral on the same street. The place is visibly dirty, it looks like floors haven’t been cleaned or mopped in a long time. I saw someone in the kitchen finish up someone else’s drink and throw it in the trash. Seems like basic sanitary precautions aren’t taken. The food was flavorless and just didn’t seem fresh at all. I had the Cuban sandwich and moro rice. BF had the fried pork and rice.

La Carreta in Calle 8 has been a solid "go to" since I moved to Miami from the West Coast over 30 years now. The food here, no matter what you order, will be served to perfection, delivering flavor and satisfaction. All this while being taken care of by the staff with most beautiful smiles and attentiveness. I highly recommend going to La Carreta in Calle 8 for a taste of Cuba in Miami.

Needs serious remodeling and refresh the Booth I was sitting on was broke and it jumped when customers sitting next to me moved in their seats, very annoying.

Delicious food and great prices!

We’ve been coming to this La Carreta for over 30 years and this place is not what it used to be. For starters, the place needs to be renovated. Today, we had an early dinner (4:00 pm or so). Our waitress Aliane didn’t bother to come check on us once we received our food; not even once. The food barely had any taste. My bistec empanizado wasn’t that good. I’ve had better. My husband had rabo encendido, the special of the day, He paid $26.50 for it and he said it was average. To top things off, there were two tiny ants walking on the table. I don’t know if it’s under new management or what, but when Aylet was there, this restaurant was much better. Will not be returning until it improves. Today is 8/4/2024

The Cuban espresso and plantain pie were incredible

Not that good, the food was bad, nothing special, a dry Moro rice, a regular flavored chicken, tostones stuffed with shrimp are more like stuffed with pureed potatoes, and everything was cold, in the end I ordered a coffee and it wasn't even a cold half-colada I do not recommend it, rather it is a lack of respect for Cuban cuisine and good service and above all good flavor....

The food was very well made, we went for lunch. The cold beer was a bit expensive for domestic beer. Dirty bathrooms. Very friendly waiter. The Cuban sandwich is not a big deal.

I loved the food there, the great atmosphere. They have very good customer service, all the workers are super friendly. Cuban food is delicious and since it is prepared in La Carreta, there are few places that can match it. Super recommended.

The place sucks the food is cold. The service is awful and they don’t care if you complain so don’t bother to tell him because they’re very careless. Do not spend your money here.

The girl at the door asked how many people when we arrived, we stated 9. She looked up and said 6? We again stated 9; just that 2 were parking. When she walked us to the table, she said your server will be right with you and walked away saying 6. Hence I looked up and said no it’s 9, noticed that the table she sat us at was for 6. I was upset and asked everyone to please move to a bigger table since she walked away. By the time our server came she asked if we needed more menus and I said yes since the other person apparently didn’t hear us the 2-3x we said 9. Then while ordering someone asked for a ham, egg and cheese English muffin, the server offered if you wanted it on an English muffin, regular bread or Cuban bread; the person stated Cuban bread, yet brought it out on English muffin.

First class food, I love 💖 their food and their attention

In an act of desperation, while I was sick, I had a lapse of judgement and decided to once again take a chance and order from this place…BIG MISTAKE! All I ordered was a plantain soup. How can you mess that up ? Simple… they diluted the leftover soup with more water and threw some of yesterday’s tostones in there to make it look like there was plantains. It’s honestly a hate crime against Cuban culture. -negative stars

I’ve read this restaurant is a sister restaurant of Versailles. Their food was amazing. I do highly recommend eating here when you’re in Miami. Their braised lamb shank - Jardiniere is to die for. Chicharonnes de Pollo and Masas de Puerco is equally good as well. I don’t even know if there’s any dish that is isn’t good served in this restaurant. I can’t wait to go back.

Horrible, I ordered rice with beans, which by the way I called the girl twice to rectify and they brought me Moro rice and in order not to start a dispute I didn't protest about it and when I tried the Moro rice it was ruined both in its smell and It tasted like spoiled food. On the way home I had to run because of an upset stomach. It's a real lack of respect.

Hands down the best steak I've ever had.

I had the shrimp in garlic sauce appetizer. It was great, slivers of fresh garlic and red pepper flakes. I was told the lamb shank was delicious as well as the cuban sandwich.

Always great to grab food here, steak sandwich was tender and seasoned perfectly. Fries were a little cold but all is forgiven since it’s the first time in my many visits that something wasn’t perfect. My server Sergio was quick and efficient and on a side note, don’t forget to tip your servers. I saw a guy leave a 40 cent tip on a $26 check, shameful.

I made a reservation through Booking and it was duplicated, therefore they charged me twice. They told me that they would return the duplicate reservation but they never did, they should consider the error and assume the responsibility of returning something that was not taken care of.

If you want a straight out of the fridge Cuban Sandwich this is the spot ! Server was amazing customer service was great. This of this restaurant like a Dennie’s Fast Food chain . Not an authentic Cuban spot in my opinion but try it out for yourself ! Maybe you’ll like it

The food is excellent, the atmosphere is pleasant, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the attention from a girl called Dayana, who has poor service, ignores you, serves you when she feels like it, sees you and turns the other way. I ordered a meal online, I imagine she I thought I was delivery from UBER OR DORDASS because I had those poor kids waiting, they had their orders in sight and she didn't deliver them, maybe she's there to do other work and they don't pay her to deliver the online purchases

Restaurant was good but a little outdated for the prices, food was good but half of my parties food was old and you could smell the sea food already had turned bad, but it was still served. Server was good at first but quickly turned rude.

Food was delicious and authentic tasting! I’ve lived in Miami all my life and grew-up going to this same Carreta and this is the same traditional Cuban food I grew-up with! It’s like abuelita (grandma) is in the back cooking. We had the vaca frita with rice & plantains, the Pollo a la Plancha w/ rice & beans, and the Camarrones in Garlic sauce w/ rice. Everyone loved their food. It’s a very casual place so don’t expect a fancy restaurant. If you are looking for some affordable yummy traditional Cuban food at a retro casual setting, then check it out! There’s free self parking in the back side w/ a friendly attendant watching the cars. If you do takeout… go inside & pickup in the back. They also provide utensils & bread for takeout. It is the sister restaurant to Versailles across the street but I prefer the food at La Carreta!

Not bad but definitely not Versailles level, but with that comes a lack of a wait hence why we chose to go there one day. Our server was very nice and attentive. Overall the food was not bad, it just wasn’t good. Yucca frita was the worst thing, very fibrous and oily. Mahi a la plancha had zero flavor but was cooked fine. Arroz Moro was pretty good, frijoles negros okay. Prices were great though very affordable! Overall if you want to try Cuban food not a terrible option but not the best Miami has to offer.

This is the worse restaurant with the most incompetent staff and managers. They do not have manners or courtesy towards their patrons. Do not go! You’ll have a terrible experience.

We wanted to visit this restaurant as it was praised by “Fluffy”, a Hispanic comedian. It is a perfectly average diner with somewhat drabby interior but - must be - good Cuban food. You get your sandwiches, entrees and desserts, Cuban style. Unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish yet ( do speak a few other foreign languages) and the staff hardly spoke any English. We did ok though. The menu was exclusively in Spanish without any English translation. The food was fine and we liked their version of cappuccino very much. Good coffee.

this place is horrible even when I place an order they forget things, and they even have the guts to tell me that, they're not going to give me the missing items that THEY forgot to put into my order. And yet the manager is never there also, and no seems to care if things go wrong. Listen I'm Cuban and I support my locals but come on, being rude and not wanting to do your job is not it.

My recent visit to La Caretta Restaurant in Miami was disappointing. I went there with a friend, and unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations. Firstly, the service was subpar. Despite requesting water twice, we never received it. This level of inattentiveness from the staff was frustrating and set a negative tone for the rest of our meal. The cleanliness of the restaurant was also a major issue. The dining area and bathroom were both noticeably dirty, which made us uncomfortable. Cleanliness is a basic expectation for any dining establishment, and La Caretta fell short in this regard. As for the food, my chicken dish was just okay. It was neither impressive nor terrible, but given the overall experience, it didn’t make up for the other shortcomings. The server was just adequate, providing minimal engagement and lacking the warmth and attentiveness that enhance a dining experience. In summary, my visit to La Caretta was underwhelming. Due to the poor service, lack of cleanliness, and merely average food, I do not plan to return.

The menus were oily and my food was brought out almost 15 minutes before the rest of my party and it wasn't an appetizer. Either way the food was acceptable but the beans tasted like canned beans. Not the best experience.

This place is very cozy, the food is extremely delicious, the service is extra excellent and the atmosphere is great.

My family and I were there for an early dinner. The vibe there was that of a diner, more than a restaurant. They had a diverse menu of Hispanic dishes, not just Cuban. However, they did not have the Caldo Gallego that I was craving. As a substitute I had a more Cuban dish of pan-fried steak white rice, black beans and fried ripe plantains. Pretty good. Another member of the party had BBQ chicken with guava sauce (delish!), rice and fried green plantains. The rice was fine but the fried plantains appeared old and re-fried. My wife had pan-fried breaded steak with fried green plantains. The steak was tasty and fresh , but the previous comments apply to the fried green plantains. We had soft drinks, entrees and desserts for 3 for under $75.

I visited La Carreta yesterday 6/7/24, and believe me it’ll be my last time. When the girl at the door sat me down I had to call the waitress, they passed me by and didn’t even look at me. I had to asked for the bread, and brought it a minute before the meal. I ordered “Vaca Frita” I asked for lemon, and never was brought it, nor they even bring me the coke when I placed my food order, without forgetting that I had to ask for water twice while eating. And guess what, when I refused to tip for the bad service, the waitress she made a very bad face. But sorry you have to earn the tip. Again it was my last visit to that location at Calle 8,and I give them 1 ⭐️ is because there’s no lower rating

I'm on vacation and they told me about this place, according to it is a regular place to have breakfast. The service is down to the wire. The Cuban sandwich didn't have any pickles. The waitress Maria did not want to sell me a side of fries because according to her, it is “a lot.” We “finished” eating, sitting for 20 minutes, waiting, and the waitress did not bring us our plates or bring us the bill. I wouldn't come back here. Do you want to eat Cuban? Go to Versailles, it's opposite and I guess the service is a thousand times better.

I like to eat in these types of "Cuban" Restaurants. But, specifically, in this one my 2 experiences have been unforgettable. The dishes we ordered on our last visit (Salmon..., Rice with Chicken and Fillet of X fish) were wrong. And, I remember that last year we saw part of the kitchen and its utensils in unpleasant conditions. It gave me the impression of a dirty restaurant. I do not recommend this cart.

Recently went for breakfast. Dirty place. Dirty bathrooms. Dirty to the point that I even found two hairs on my food. The food also came with show as one of the waitresses was fighting very loudly with the cook in front of the customers. Not a pleasant experience at all. Won’t come back again

A friend and I went in for a quick drink. We asked for two drinks, double but were never told the price. The last time we went we paid just a few extra dollars for double drinks this time we were charged for more than the drinks themselves! We didn’t know till we got the bill! We got charged over $50 for two drinks! That’s absolutely ridiculous. This is the last time we go here. The food isn’t even that great. It seems like they scam people at certain times of the day. SO BE AWARE! YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED FOR DRINKS AT NIGHT! I forgot to add! We waited over 15 minutes for the server after being seated. Also, after we were done with our drinks and decided to leave the server never came back with our change. We were waiting but decided to just go and the server was standing by the exit, arms crossed, smile on her face and wishing us a goodbye. Super disrespectful.

Always a delight when back in Miami to come here and enjoy some cuban cuisine and Miami atmosphere. The service is always on point and the food hasn't disappoint yet. A great choice when in Miami.

Today is a true Memorial Day (as in a day to remember)Today I had the worst Cuban Sandwich that I have ever had. I’m 66 years old. I am also a lover of Cuban Sandwiches. I had my first Cuban Sandwich at the age of 12, and I have been in love with them since. I am writing this review for my fellow sandwich lovers. I need to clarify that I am not writing this in anger, or with any kind of resentment. I am offering my experience to fellow diners who share my love of Cuban Sandwiches. Here are the objective details. What made this sandwich the worst Cuban Sandwich in the world? The bread was cold, and not toasted. That made the cheese inside lukewarm, and unmelted. Of course the meat was also lukewarm. Ham, and especially pork, are disgusting lukewarm. The sandwich was hastily put together. Clearly slapped together without care. The result was an unappetizing bulge of bread, unmelted cheese, ham and pork scattered around the plate, oozing mustard and cold pickles in disarray. The sight alone was disgusting. Biting into the combination of room temperature pork and ham, unmelted cheese, and cold mustard was revolting. I don’t know what has happened to La Carreta. La Carreta and Versalles were once the gold standard in Cuban Sandwich excellence. How could La Carreta have fallen to the very bottom is inexplicable. Luckily, as this institution falls, new restaurant boasting excellent sandwiches seem to be rising. Please, please, go directly to one of them. Avoid La Carreta. I have taken the hit for you. Perhaps you could return the favor someday, and save me from an experience like this one. Cuban Sandwich lovers unite!

Didn’t like the experience from the start. Even though the place was half empty, we waited for 15 minutes to be seated. Ordered soup, coffee and regular Cuban sandwiches. We got our soup cold after about 40 min of wait, then after next 20 min we had our sandwiches and one of them was the worst sandwich I’ve ever ate. It was dry and unpleasant. The only thing that was good it’s their coffee

I ordered a tamale in a leaf that was never served... A fried snapper that was not good!!! In short, nothing to do with the fame they give him!

My 2nd time at this location and no improvement. Tons of food on a plate doesn't mean it is good. My food was not fully cooked (chicken chicharron); the waitress helped me to get something else with no extra charge. I thank her for that, but the point is to get right whatever you ordered from the beginning. I'll give them a 3rd and last chance. Hopefully, it will be better.

Beautiful place to go as a couple or as a family, there is a great variety of dishes and they serve a lot of food.

A around great restaurant. Had a kind of old Diner vibe with a patina of being well maintained for its age. I had the al anjillos with maduros and black beans. Cuban coffee was delicious. I met a friend who had the midnight sandwich which looked amazing. Very happy with the whole experience except given the outside temperature I would have liked my water filled more. I will go back when I am back in Miami.
