I've been there a few times, and the tacos are always good. The staff are friendly and polite.

It was odd when we stopped, and there wasn’t one single person in the restaurant at dinner time so we thought about leaving. After going inside which is very big and authentic, we stayed for tacos and Gorditas. I asked the waitress about why there were no people there. She said sometimes it’s like that. Our food obviously took no time to get out lol . It was good, no complaints. I do want to add that the restaurant has a nice menu to order from with many choices.

We picked up wanted some flautas and he wanted tacos he asked for cheese we got charged no cheese the flautas were just soppy and greasy the tomatoes were like they were frozen and then left out the lettuce all brown and wilting maybe just a slow day and no one felt like doing anything and it shows won't be back

Went on a Sunday with the family. You can park right in front of the restaurant. Not busy at the time we went in. The guacamole was fresh and to die for. The rest of the food was good but we didn't find it great.

Nobody there to greet us. The restaurant was almost empty. Slow service and the food was very disappointing.

Perfect little family owned Mexican restaurant. Very good prices, about 25% less than the other local places and the portions are great. This is a hidden gem, I love this place. I can only say everything I've tried has been great.

One waitress took about an hour to get food, salsa and sour cream was like soup. Some of my family didn't eat because it was cold or tasted bad. No soap in bathroom, after we got food some flies showed up.

Not sure what or when the pictures of the inside were taken but it looks nothing like this. There is not a bar just a few bottles of liquor. The salsa is like water. The cheese dip was great. The tacos are very small. The chimichanga was good. My biggest complaint is that I asked for sour cream and the brought me a cup of spoiled sour cream that was water. The sour cream was like milk.

There was a small dog (obviously not a service animal) that ran up and started barking the second we opened the door. Really unsanitary. Will not return.

This place is awesome!!! I walked in to get a surprise lunch for my Ma.... Ordered it, not ever had been here, just a walk in. Everyone was great and it was only 15 minutes, I'm walking out with an incredible, authentic Mexican lunch. Was so excited and happy with our lunch.... We couldn't eat it all, ..... Fantastic find in a quiet hide away!! Loved the food and people😃

Friendly, clean, and excellent food! Updated: I came back the second time, as the food was so good last time. The food is still good this time, but I probably will not come back anymore. They've played the music so loud that I can't even hear myself. They should know that this is a restaurant, not a concert.

The food was delicious!! This is authentic Mexican food and not expensive at all. Being in Florida for a while, it's hard to come by good Mexican food. This place did not disappoint 😊 Service could have been better, but it's alright they're young and learning.

They have great mexican food here. Family owned and operated. The wait can be long. Their queso is very thin. I enjoy their flautas and chimichangas.

You get a great amount of food for the price. The service is a little slower even though it's not very busy but the food is great. I love going during their specials, which are all day, so that's a bonus. The employee is generally nice and attentive. Bring cash so you are not charged for card fees.

We drove out to Okeechobee from West Palm to see the lake and stopped here for lunch. Limited lunch menu but enough of the classics and we got a burrito, enchiladas and gordita. Food was so delicious and fresh tasting and a good value.

I've seen this place pretty packed & pretty empty. But this hidden jewel is way worth stopping in. The food is very very good. Prices are Very affordable. Homemade tortilla chips that has a homemade fresh taste along with all home made salsa & guat! I plan on making this a reg from now on. They are on fb & have nightly specials & kids menus. And I couldn't eat all that yummy food so I had a nice snack later on that night!!

The food was amazing at a great prices. And even 30 minutes before closing the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Come to find out the super friendly waitress is also the owner. This is a small business I am happy to support.

The guacamole was the best guacamole non-home made I have had in Florida! The main dish was delicious, I had the molcajete it was amazing

Never a bland bite when it comes to this authentic Spanish style food. Taco Tuesdays are my favorite just because. The waitress was polite, friendly a bit shy, but she got our order right the first time no complaints. Will definitely be going back again.

This isa great place if you like very mild flavored food. I personally do not and was disappointed by the bland portions, from the guacamole, the tamale, the taco, flautas, fajitas, rice AND beans. The service was good. Prices good. But I would not go back.

Recently found this gem in Okeechobee. Food was awesome. Service was outstanding. A true family atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

The service sucks. We had a young girl waitress and man it's like she had no people skills at all. She didn't talk, she couldn't comprehend anything. We spoke both English and Spanish to see if maybe it was a language barrier but it was like she was asleep. Food presentation I have to give them 100. They are on point. As soon as we received our meal I was very impressed but as soon as I ate it... boy was I let down. My husband ordered a fish it was like they got the fish from the freezer and just out it to fry. No flavor, no salt no pepper just nothing. It was bland frozen fish. Again on the plate it looked delicious just not so great when you tasted it. My kids ordered their flautas and that was good. I kept eating their food because my food was also bland. I had to smother it in salsa verde to get it some flavor because the Mexican steak was just so bland. It was like I was chewing water. No taste at all. My mother ordered the chicken soup.... we brought the whole thing home to give to our dog because none of us liked it.

About as authentic as Taco Bell. Bland, no flavor. Service an absolute ZERO. 2 waitresses, 2 tables of customers, a solid hour to get our meals another 25 minutes to get a check after we finished eating.

The staff was very friendly. My order was short though. I order the dinner combo three. I didn't get my salad. I asked for 2 tacos and the fried quesadilla. I only got 1 taco and the fried quesadilla. I had to remind the gal who was helping me to give me my drink that came with the dinner. The taco meat didn't have much flavor either it was really disappointing.

After a long drive we decided to stop here to eat… Horrible service they took forever and I watched them ask other people multiple times if everything was fine, we didn’t get asked until we were done, the sodas were flat, could’ve been better!

Taco Tuesday was a very busy day, will choose a different day next time. Very good authentic mexican food.

There are plenty of Mexican restaurants/Trucks in Okeechobee But I promise you this is the best spanish food in town. Dine in or take out.

I am happy to comment on this Mexican Restaurant in Okeechobee Florida. We decided to go for lunch today. We are in complete owe.! The food was authentic, delicious and served promptly. We are Canadian snowbirds and really like to appreciate the hard work of having a food business during this pandemic. Congratulations, we will be back.

Very friendly and the food was plentiful and very good!

Unfortunately, we had to wait for over an hour for our food and it wasn't very delicious. There was only one server working so we felt bad, but she never refilled our drink or checked on us, even after the dinner rush was over. Not a fan of the strange texture of steak and very basic rice and beans. The mural on the wall was cool though.

Stopped in for dinner and were so glad we did. The young lady & young man did a great job of taking care of all the customers. The food was very good. I've eaten Spanish/Latine inspired foods all over. The beans here were cooked with love & some amazing spices. The rice had complex flavors, not just the average American version of Spanish Rice. I highly recommend stopping in or getting take out. For two people our bill was under $20.00.

My family & I decided to try this restaurant out today. Our first time. Kept seeing their ads on Facebook. Decided to try it. Not very impressed at all. Our waitress did not have good customer service skills at all! Not communcative, talks very low, wasn't listening to what we were saying. I asked if we could get lettuce, tomatoes, etc, on our tacos. She said they only come with cilantro & onions. Yet, we saw other customers with all the extra toppings on their plates. I asked if I could get horchata in a styrofoam cup. She said they only come in regular cups. The seats were dirty. I had to wipe them off myself. Table was wobbly. Floors very dirty with food everywhere. Our food came out, not on plates, but on some black baskets. The baskets had dried up food on them, one was broken. We asked for plates bc we were splitting all the tacos. Even the plates had dried, leftover food. That did it for us. Very bad first impression. To top it off, the menu I got handed had mold all over it. I told the waitress & she didn't care. We took our tacos to go & someone else was able to bring a syrofoam cup for my drink, that our waitress could have done in the first place. We won't be going back.

Tasty food, quick service, very attentive waitress, friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing family restaurant!!! My family always makes a point to stop here when we are traveling through. We have always had phenomenal service and absolutely delicious food! I cannot recommend their gorditas enough.

Comida mexicana muy buena best mexican food in town

Did a take-out order at 415pm for sopes & tacos and I was the only customer there. After 20 min, I got food that was extremely fresh, staff was very nice, & price was good. I'll definitely be back if/when I'm in town.

I do not recommend la mariposa restaurant.They do not enforce Covid precautions with their staff. No staff member was wearing a mask while I was there picking up my take-out order. I watched a few restaurant customers walk in without a mask. I walked it wearing a mask and everyone in the entire restaurant looked at me like strange. I should have went with my gut feeling and ordered take out food else where.

Very Good ....a little slow ..but other then that very good

My whole to-go order was wrong. I ordered a steak chimichangas, mole pollo with white meat chicken, but recieved chicken chimichangas and leg and thigh in mole. The food was super salty . No salsa, chips with the queso I ordered were stone cold and liable to break a tooth. Never going back. The place was empty at 7 pm, now I know why.

Authentic, a word used to describe many places/items. I would say as far as the Mexican cuisine goes, authentic is a rather generic terminology. The style of food depends on the part of the country you grew up in, which also influences the style and flavoring of the food. That being said, I 100% enjoy this restaurant. The food has always been of great tasting quality with plenty of value per meal. Be sure to check out the daily specials they include to the dry erase board. Definitely worth supporting this great local restaurant!! Go try it and be happy.

Given this place various chances Again wait is too long. Waitress sees you doesn't try to attend you.left 2x with out eating. I suggest more cooks and waitresses that actually want to work. Prices are decent I don't suggest going on lunch break order to go.

Absolutely the best, authentic food I have had on the east coast! Huge portions! I highly recommend the 7 seas soup! Absolutely perfect flavors. The staff is very warm and friendly! The fruit water is amazing and fresh! Best I have had since I lived in Los Angeles or traveled in Mexico!!

First time here since they been open for 2 months food was really good service was great we had steak tacos, steak nachos and pork carnitas oh and a couple of tamales I would recommend trying
