The waitress was incredible, but the burgers were subpar. The burger was huge. They don't give you a lot of fries, but they are seasoned well. It seems like they are known for their seafood. Prices are a little high. 2 people ate for $50

Wow! This is some of the freshest and well cooked seafood I have had in a long time! And I've spent the last 40 years in Ft Lauderdale. The buffet is amazing. The hushpuppies are light and fluffy and just sweet enough. The breading on the fried selections was light and crispy. And the blackened cobia, are you kidding me!? I will definitely be making more than one trip back!

We were apprehensive city slickers in a small town when we walked in but after a few minutes with our waiter Cameron we were at ease! He was awesome. This is how service should be done! Thanks Cameron for the food and drink recommendations and the hospitality!! Oh! And for the hush puppy lesson! :)

You guys might want to correct your opening hours. Website says open at 11am. Just stopped in & was told it was a noon opening. Disappointing!

This place was a little pricey but they made up for with great food. The staff was amazing. Bonus is they have a fresh fish and seafood market. If you go go hungry and try the sweet potato crusted grouper and if you're looking for some adventure get the fried Gator and fried turtle they are outstanding!

Worst buffet ever. $60 for either raw undercooked fish or food that has been on the buffet line forever. Dead dried out. Manager says the owner does not want to waste food. Good waste customers instead

Had a great lunch, flounder, scallops, and crab cakes. Generous portions. Hush puppies were good, on the sweet side. Good fries, really good cole slaw. Would come again.

Such a cool place. Food and service were great. Seafood was fresh and delicious but that pumpkin bread! 🙌🏽 Our server, Ray, was polite and helpful.

Finally went to this area, 40 mins from home, tried aligator and was good, the decoration was great, full of animals, the food is very expensive for small plates, maybe explore less ecpensive menu.

Best steak I had in a while great staff friendly come through here all the time. Enjoy stopping in and eating there.

Tammy was great. Been going here once or twice a year for 20 years. It's still SO overpriced! Fried Green Tomatoes very bland. Beer on tap is crazy expensive for some reason. If my wife didn't insist on going here I would never return.

Everytime I've been the food was delicious, have been for Sunday Buffett, lunch & dinner, always great! Friendly staff, no complaints!

Stopped in for an appetizer and a pint. Many taps on list but several empty. Staff was in training but the trainer was not much better. Ordered fried green tomatoes. They were lacking seasoning. Nothing special. Overpriced at $17.50 for 5 of them. Our beer flights were both messed up several times. No return for us if ever in the area.

Food was great, but don't let the bartender wait your table. Waited forever for water & dessert to go.

Had a great meal at this unique restaurant. It might be a seafood joint but the burger was amazing and huge! On top of the great food and beer selection the service was amazing. Brandi wasn’t our waitress but she was great. She sat us, took our drink and food order and checked in often. She was stellar and made the experience that much better. Thanks Brandi! I’ll be back when I’m in town again.

This is a great place for good food. I usually get crab legs or roasted chicken. The last time I tried a bacon burger. This was the very best bacon I've ever had. They smoke it in-house. The collard greens are tender and loaded with meat. We usually get the cobbler to go. The only down side is the prices have increased quite a bit. But for a great meal every once in awhile it's worth it. As far as service the staff is always friendly and polite. They make sure that you are taken care of. The outside looks like a fancy place to eat. The inside is awesome. Plenty on mounted animals and cool stuff. There's even a bank vault that you can eat in.

My husband had visited the old location many years ago, but I had never been. So I insisted we go. So glad we did. Service was wonderful and everything was delicious. I had the blackened plantain salad and my husband had the baby backs. I plan on returning for some grouper!

This is a very fun place to stop for lunch or dinner. We ordered the Cajun gator and blackened grouper sandwich, which were both excellent. The raw oysters were very fresh, too. They have merchandise available for purchase. They have a great selection of craft beers from around Florida. It has a welcoming atmosphere, and we had excellent service.

We stopped here while driving through Okeechobee. Food was delicious and very interesting. We had the sweet potato encrusted grouper (mouth watering), gator bites, blackened scallops, and beer flight. Everglades was delicious and service was superb. Our waitress was great and her suggestions were right on. 100% recommended!

This was my first time stopping here on a quick trip in and out of Florida. Great service, food is made to order and they even have swag to buy.

The catfish meal was awesome . The pina-colada I had was one of the best. The waiter was kind and friendly and food service was quick and efficiently done. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

I went in the other night for a quick drink and i had Erica as my bartender. She was very polite sweet and made the BEST old fashioned ive ever had!

Best hush puppies I’ve ever had! Being from out of town my son and I chose to try Lightsey’s for lunch. Everything was great and the portions were more than either of us could finish. He had catfish and I had blackened shrimp. Try the blackened shrimp with the peach glaze sauce. It’s amazing! The waitress was friendly and provided great service.

My family loves this place! Great food! Great customer service! It’s a great place for locals and visitors to enjoy some great seafood!

Make sure and have fish dip for appetizer

We went here after visiting Lake Okeechobee. Ordered the alligator for appetizer and it was mediocre and tough for the $18 dollar price. Ordered scallops and catfish dinners. Scallops came out 10 minutes before catfish. Was told catfish takes longer-so why wouldn’t you wait to serve both dinners at same time? Catfish was so fishy tasting that couldn’t even eat it. Service was as mediocre as the alligator-definitely not worth the $95 we spent. Won’t be back-to say the least.

Good food and drink, but pricey

When in Okeechobee showing homes, Lightsey's is the perfect lunch/dinner spot to bring your friends. Fried gator was tender and delicious. Hush puppies are the best I've ever had. Cobia is always fresh. Service was impeccable. This is Florida's finest right here. They definitely got the FOODS! I've been to the new location in Jensen Beach as well and it is just as good.

Every weekend my husband and I look for a different restaurant to try. This weekend we came across Lightsey’s Seafood in Rio. From the welcome and service we received from our server Kelly, down to our meal, was a great experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This was on my list of restaurants to eat in Florida. It did not disappoint, the fried tomatoes were very good also had the lobster bisque good but a little salty. Also had the IPA sampler, real good. Glad that I gave them a try , service was also excellent.

The first time we were there, the service was great. The second time, we were standing there for over 20 minutes. No one acknowledged us. The restaurant was not too terribly packed, and we were told that we would have a 30 to 45 minute wait. We left because that wasn't worth it. We are dissatisfied with the service this time around.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Hair in my husbands food, ribs dry and very over cooked, catfish nuggets tasted so bad it made my husband physically ill. Drinks tasted like chlorine, service was poor, manager is incompetent and owner is rude!

I would drive from Miami to Okeechobee just to eat at this restaurant. The ambiance and decor is interesting and fun, the service is warm and attentive, and the food is local, fresh, well prepared and unique! Thanks Lightsey's!

Ordered shrimp and unfortunately it was over cooked, very firm and chewy. We have been previously and I ordered the sweet potato encrusted grouper which was the best. Will return everyone is entitled to a one off.

This was our first visit to Lightsey’s. The service was prompt and the decor was cute. We had a margarita and old fashioned cocktails which were tasty. For dinner, we ordered clam chowder, fried shrimp with gouda mashed potatoes, hushpuppies, fried catfish and cole slaw. All of the food was fresh, hot and quite delicious, except we didn’t care for the cole slaw. The downside was there were no small plate options offered whatsoever, so we left a lot of uneaten food and the meals were quite pricey.

Lightsey's treats it's employees like TRASH and tries to publicly shame them instead of treating them like a human being as you should treat your employees... Management and owners need to be shamed for their awful business practices. Take a look at how they treat employees. I would never eat here until they learned basic human decency and I hope you do the same.

This is the place to go in Okeechobee. Good service, great food

Well, the prices have skyrocketed. The hamburger is 19.50! It's a great burger, but it's one of the cheapest things on the menu! The catfish, one of the most important things they do... is apparently no longer Lake Okeechobee cat! They now mix it with other fish or catfish! See, Okeechobee catfish has a special flavor, and we drove an hour to get it! But now you get it mixed with other. My son sensed something wrong and the waitress told him! Kinda feel gyped.

Found this amazing restaurant by chance , Camille the bartender was outstanding , food was amazing . Highly recommend trying the pumpkin bread..

Ordered golden fish or something like that. One was fried other was baked It was OK but very expensive .Service wasn't that great either?

This service was awful and the food was overcooked. After seeing multiple tik toks and how you treat your servers, I will never come back here. Taking away their shifts because they don’t average a 20% tip??? Insane!!!

The owner’s and managers shady business practices of not wanting to allow people to work if they don’t make a certain amount of tips so that way they don’t have to make up the difference to meet minimum wage quota kinda for sure makes me never wanna eat here or support them. Greed is all this place has to offer, well that and overcooked fish.

Horrible experience. Took 20 minutes to get a menu, 45 for one meal to be delivered and another 40 for the last persons meal to be delivered. We were a table of 8. The waiter was confused , brought out wrong meals, soup last and cold fries. Never again. If you are a table of 2 you may have better luck.

The burnt ribeye I received was disgusting and I kind of like my state chard to say the least but this was burnt and it tasted burnt definitely do not go there for a steak!

Wasa driving through from lake Okeechobee and stopped for lunch. What an amazing place to eat anytime dry aged beef for sale or to eat prepared for you. Service was excellent. DO NOT drive by STOP you won't be dissatisfied.

Atmosphere awesome, service can't complain it was super busy... Food was okay, we had sweet potato crusted grouper on top of mango & papaya, there were several areas where I had to use my steak knife to cut the grouper... 😞😥 For a $40.00 dinner don't think we'll order that again.

Came to Okeechobee for my wife’s grandfathers 85th birthday and Lightsey’s was the birthday meal! The hush puppies were to die for. The food and service were awesome with a neat atmosphere to top it off. It seems the locals really love this place! Got a “I got some cooter at Lightseys” shirt on my way out, even though I didn’t get any (I won’t tell if you don’t).

Was not impressed. Small gator meat. For 37.00 $ a plate, I expected more.

The food is good but with a limited menu. I ordered grilled shrimp and it was very good, but the Coleslaw not so much. Everything comes with hushpuppies, which I don't like. Good service.

We found this place when our ride friends had to cancel this morning. AMAZING!!!!! Our server, Elyssa was great. They advertise "The best darn blackened grouper"....& they don't lie. They have a tropical (something) that is a guava wheat beer. Wow. The shrimp is lightly fried, again, great! Great meal! The Mrs usually is not into Hushpuppies, but they went down easy.

This is a VERY dog friendly and people friendly restaurant, with great food at decent prices. We went for lunch with our two black labs and they found a place out on their screened in patio for us, and even brought out water for the dogs. The sweet potato crusted Grouper was amazing!! Super friendly and great food. We will be back!!

The location is great in the Okeechobee area. We went for a road trip (motorcycle) and stopped there for lunch. The buffet is great but it's a little expensive($59/person) for the choice of things in the buffet. The food tastes really delicious and fresh.

Stopped in for lunch as I have been craving catfish for a while, was not disappointed!! Portion size of the "fingers" was outstanding, I chose the All You Can Eat, and could have napped in my booth afterwards it was that satisfying!! My server was fabulous and made sure I didn't want for anything...will definitely be back again!!

My wife had clam chowder and blueberry cobbler ala mode she loved said it was the best she ever had and I had the snow crab lo mein fantastic. waiter was excellent price was fair.

We loved this place and will come back. Food was delicious, even though they had Sunday's buffet going on we decide to order instead and it was a great decision. We order their fried green tomatoes and gumbo (with cotter, okra, croc) very tasty 😋. Then we order their special 2 lobster 🦞 🦞 with cab cakes and 2 sides (personally I dis not need the sides) they got me with the crab cakes out of this world and of course, the lobsters were excellent (is like they knew I prefer them fresh and natural) butter comes on the side. We are from out of town but we are planning on coming to their buffet on a Sunday. Thanks to the staff for the experience.

The French fries were not hot, Luke warm and soft under cooked. Very small portion of fried shrimp on all 3 of our plates. Definitely not happy with this meal. Will not return under this quality or amount of shrimp for price paid.

It was our first time here and wasn't real impressed... my boyfriend order the Cajun grouper he said it was OK could of been bigger because the piece he had was on the small side he Also ordered the veggies he forgot to ask if the veggies had mushrooms think God he didn't eat them he's allergic to them the waiter didn't say what kind of veggies that came on the plate ...I ordered the steak but couldn't order it med well so I got it med but it seemed like it was med raw... we asked about having the veggies taken off the bill and at first was told no then the young Manger looking like a deer in headlights when we talked to her said she would but from her expression she didn't want to so we said never mind. High priced for little amount of food... not impressed and we went here because of the reviews not again
