I arrived at Lava Mountain at 6:59. It was the closest coffee shop that opened at 7, and had planned to stop in for a latte and sandwich on my way to a trip. I sat outside the building for 20 minutes, and nobody ever opened the shop.

Super cute place with the BEST sandwiches around. I crave them. Check out their little grocery store right next door- very unique goods. A great small business. Im pretty sure the owners kids were there when I visited and i was happy to spend my money there.

Apart from the fantastic cup of pour over, this place is very welcoming with a relaxed design and a staff focused on quality and kindness. I could tell pretty quickly this was a family operation, and they certainly put that passion into their business and product. I'll certainly be returning for another great cup of coffee.

I roast coffee in the northern part of the state and saw this place when I was in town. I bought a bag of the Columbian coffee medium roast(it seems the Columbian coffee is their specialty). Brewing it with a French press it turned out great! Nice aroma to it and a balanced flavor profile, I'm going to use it in a moka pot for iced lattes as well, expecting it to turn out really well

Breakfast sandwich is pretty good just hard to eat and falls apart. But had lots of things on it that tasted very good. The Strawberry Banana Smoothie was pretty good too tasted very fresh. Got an iced latte with toasted marshmallow and couldn’t taste the marshmallow at all and got another breakfast sandwich for a total of 44$ was very surprised with the cost for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks only reason i’m writing a 3 star.

Great vanilla iced latte! The pistachio syrup is also delicious. The girls behind the front counter are so sweet, helpful, and fast! The sandwich I got was also delicious. Will definitely be back!

I’ve been meaning to try their sandwiches and finally did and they definitely do not disappoint! Delicious and fresh and on amazing bread. Best sandwich I’ve had in a while. The new owners know what’s up! Can’t wait to try more of their menu. Year later update : this place still makes the best sandwiches around, i go there weekly! The new market next door has so many wonderful offerings and the most delicious and authentic olive oil you will find around town.

i had their iced vanilla latte w oatmilk, but was very sad once i noticed the milk curdled at the top.. meaning the milk was bad. however, i will give them credit and say that the cafe itself is very pretty, looks clean, and staff is nice.

Attention to detail here is incredible. The food, coffee, and atmosphere is unmatched. Also has a great station to work remotely!

We had a vegetarian sandwich, it was fresh and tasted really good. The coffee was ok, but nothing special. Overall, it’s a good cafe.

Used to be my in-between work wifi pit stop when I needed one, and love the high top seating bar.. coffee was usually good, sometimes inconsistent but also a great place to stop instead of the corporate coffees on the high traffic coffee hours when you can get immediate service here. Can often be nice and quiet too for studying with enough privacy if you need to have a meeting.

Great atmosphere at this local Mom & Pop venue. The staff were courteous and professional and the Manager was thoughtfully cool in re-whipping my friend's Nutella Frappuccino. 👍😁

Was extremely impressed with this Coffee location. I got a cozy chai tea latte and hubby got a hot chocolate and breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was amazing! Can’t wait to come back to this location. The food/drinks are a bit expensive. But a nice treat!

I’ve been to a lot of coffee shops in MI and never one that has groceries from Greece and Italy like this place. Even our finest gourmet grocery stores like Holiday Market and Nino Salvaggio don’t have these products

I visited in the last half hour that they were open, like a jerk! & these lovely ladies made me some fantastic drinks anyways. The frozen drink and the hot drink I got (for my husband) were both delicious! (I couldn't help but try it!) I even had to get some beans to go! Thank you, ladies!!

We just found this gem, and are so excited - fresh bakery bread, pastries, pasta and sauces. Everything is baked fresh and homemade. It's rare to find a café with food this delicious! Also very friendly team and great atmosphere. I had the Cypriot breakfast. We can't wait to come back again :)

If you want the best sandwich and local atmosphere, please stop at this Lava Mountain. Firstly, I must tell you about the sandwich. It was called a "Big Nino," and had mortadella, salami, cheese, veggies and something I can only describe as crushed olive spread with olive oil on a crunchy ciabatta bread. One bite, and I was transported back to the streets of Italy outside a deli in Florence where they just expertly created this sandwich for me. It was that good. Now the atmosphere: this place is clean and cozy. They also have a wide variety of local creations like pottery, handmade candles, honey, seasonal veggies, and a various assortment of imported Greek products like salt, olive oil and tea to name a few. You may pay a bit more, but the quality and service is worth it.

Wanted to stop and express my thanks to the Lava Mountain Coffee Co team! Outstanding experience! This was my first time visiting. I must have driven past this place numerous times, but never noted they were there. I was using my vehicles map app, hit the coffee icon, huh, lets check them out. Walked in and was greeted right away - everyone was courteous. Ordered the Cafe-miel, hot. Steamed milk, espresso, honey, topped off with foam and cinnamon. Gotta say, this drink was prepared to the perfect temperature. The young girl, I should say stellar barista, handed the drink off to me with a smile. You could tell she was proud of herself, and should be - kudos to you! The core of my drink was their outstanding quality espresso. Combined with a touch of honey and cinnamon - awesome. SUPER-BIG THANKS to all of you! I'm looking forward to coming back, and want to share this experience with my friends and family from the area. All the best...

Really great ambience in here. The coffee is always delicious. The sandwiches at first glance may look slightly pricey, but it's because they are near artisanal and pretty large. So delicious. Many different little seating areas to sit down in and cozy up. I always have great service when I go here. One of my favorite coffee places to hunker down to get work done.

This place is amazing!! Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. They were willing to make me a special drink because I read the menu wrong and it was everything I'd hoped for in a coffee! The Greek yogurt with granola, berries and honey was delicious and looked beautiful!! The new BLT was also very good and worth every penny. 10/10 we will be coming back.

Great place! The owner is from Greece 🇬🇷 and has brought some of the Greek food here to share with others. I just visited Greece a couple months ago (of posting this review) and can attest to quality and flavors being authentic. Great coffee, great food, great service, and great atmosphere! I had my personal favorite coffee that I had in Greece, the Freddo Espresso and it brought me back to our trip to Greece! It was fantastic! Definitely recommend stopping by! We plan to come by every time we are in the area!

Stopped in to get a couple coffee drinks to go. The inside is very nice and looks cozy. The cold brew was tasty and the iced latte was excellent. Definitely will stop in again to try some more of their offerings.

Stumbled upon this coffee shop while visiting family, now we stop every time we drive through Lake Orion. Seeing their roasting equipment, I assume they roast the our own beans. Their espresso shows it witha smooth flavor, not smoky or burnt like that national brand. ;) They have a really great selection of syrup flavors including flavors not available in many coffee shops. The atmosphere is slick and clean yet comfortable. I would happily meet a friend for coffee or a business associate for a meeting.

In town for a concert at Pine Knob and on our way out we happened upon Lava Mountain. Great atmosphere! Lots of delicious options and friendly staff. They aren’t very efficient but we had time and eventually all got what we ordered. Try the breakfast sandwich (but add cream cheese) and the Kats PB&J was a hit also. Definitely worth a stop if you have the time!

glad I gave it a shot instead of going to Starbucks as usual their coffee is definitely the best I tasted for a while! Seems they roast it inside the same store. They have a big advanced roasting machine. I will ask next time about the beens

Favorite place to go for a coffee and a sandwich on the way to work. Every aspect of this place is top quality, zero compromise. They roast their own beans and with every product they take the time to do it right every time. Great atmosphere and free wifi if you'd like to stay longer to do some work or studying. Not the cheapest, but everything they make is 100% worth it! I will go out of my way to come here and experience the quality they have to offer.

I have lived in L.O. since 1995 Lava Mountain is the best coffee shop in the area IMO I stopped by because my cousin told me how good the Spinach Pie is.....oh yeah nothing like it anywhere! HOMEMADE FILO DOUGH this is the spinach pie I grew up with. Cafe Meil was very good cinnamon and honey a nice touch with coffee The new owner, Billy was very friendly and explained things about the items and plans for more Greek pastries and he also gave me some Greek chocolates THANX ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent service, great, reasonably priced coffee, but the pastries were exorbitantly priced - $6 for a bagel with nothing on it and $6 for a stale, cold lemon muffin. Also, the prices weren't listed on anything (now I know why), so you don't realize how high the bill is until you get the receipt. Woof. Go for the coffee, skip the food.

Me and my dad have been coming here for 3 Years since April 2020. It's been not very popular but a great place to hang out and get coffee. It recently got a new owner and staff, so be sure to check this place out!

Certainly not the worst coffee I’ve had, but not the 4.8 stars that brought me here. Maybe it was the barista? But my coffee was just off. Bought a muffin and she tossed into the microwave- never asked for it heated. Not good

Very nice and laidback place. Small collection of baked goods though, but it tasted alright
