Every time I place order they don’t get it right or they make you wait for 30 min plus after you place your order . Waste of time

If you want to dine a fine authentic Ethiopian restaurant this is the place to be. Food is fresh and tastes like home cooked meal. Staff treats you like a family, making it one of the best in the area. I highly recommend it!

DONT BOTHER. SERVICE IS TRASH AND THE FOOD IS MADE BY WHITE MEN WHO CANT SEASON SHIRO. imagine my disappointment of ordering shiro and having to return it. The server asked my husband if it was the taste lol she knew herself the food was bad. Anyways… don’t waste your time like I did. Go somewhere to flavor and good service.

I ever been the worst Ethiopian restaurant my life,it have dirty stage dancing by 🐀🐀🐀 rat all night after I see this rats I noticed the weatres ,she act like this nothing happened, after 3 day I made phone 📞 call no response, I hope this problem solved,

I have been going there for long time and the cuisine and disk is very delicious. The down side is you have to wait for more than 40 min for the food to be ready. They should improve on the food time for sit in customers.

Food was ok but nothing that I would want to go back for. Service - nothing against the laddies but it was horrible. There were two waitresses, both seemed like they didn't want to be there to serve us. They kept making mistakes with our order and receipt. We were not satisfied with the service at all. Overall experience was poor!!

Overall a good restaurant since the vibe and service is always good. However , the restaurant needs to stop being stingy with the food portions particularly lega tibs/special and even veggie combo which me and my friends ordered multiple times and it’s quite small especially compared to other Ethiopian restaurants

Lucy was once a favorite dining spot for me; however, the recent decline in service has been disappointing. I recommend that the owners consider checking in on the team to address these issues. Unfortunately, with the current experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon. In time, I’ll return and try it again, hopefully, service improves.

I love how the waitresses greet you when you walk away to the door. I love you have a Seatu at the table ask you everything is good. Would you like to eat? I really love the place. I love the services I love the restaurant is not too far downtown Silver Spring the nice love this place. The food is to die for is the awesome place to go eat the bar is lovely. It doesn’t close until two in the morning. I stayed here until two in the morning, I got done beautiful beautiful plate of food. I take pictures of it I love it. I posted it all to my friends. Best place to eat. I recommend it is enjoyable sit down waitress is a very nice day. Make sure you need everything you need at your qualities. Why are you sit there in the music is lovely. They even have live concert musics in the restaurants. I recommend set an eight in Place doesn’t even close until sometimes two in the morning. I love it.

The waitresses are so funny everybody’s so friendly in this world smart I really recommend eating here Lema friends have parties here. We did a lakew food. It is very delicious. Even the platter looks so good. I recommend coming here eating every day every week every month.

The kitfo was good but the tibs firfir was a disappointment, just seemed like onions and kibe not much flavor. My main two complaints is that it was too dark, we could barely see our food and we also saw a tiny mouse running around :(. Not something you want to see in a restaurant you just ate at. The bathroom was filthy. I don’t know how it looks like the back kitchen since the bathroom was dirty, and the kitchen also could be nasty as well. There was no air conditioner . It needs to be addressed all these issues.

I’ve tried several restaurants in the DMV. Lucy offers authentic Ethiopian cuisine. Doro wot or the three combos are worth a shot (also my favorites). You will not be disappointed. The staff is extremely nice and attentive, making you feel like at home.

Outstanding. We had sambusa and veggie combo, both were fantastic. The baklava was not very good, too soggy. Fair prices, good time. Enjoyed it.

Walked in vibes were kinda off, almost everyone had an empty table. Service was slow, and the server energy was low. The server stained my clothes on accident, and honestly wasn’t apologetic enough. Just overall a very careless restaurant. Food was good though.

So disappointed! The staff was fine, the space although a dump was fine. The quality of the food was my issue. Horrible tibs, quality of the beef was atrocious…bits of tough dry meat and gristle. The sauce was bland and flavorless. Overall this is a waste of money. I took a couple of bites and put it in the garbage. Do not waste your money.

I'm an RPCV (Returned Peace Corps Volunteer) who served in Ethiopia. Our waitress was charming, accommodating, and very patient with us. It's always fun to eat at an Ethiopian restaurant. Our vegetarian platter was delicious and, of course, exotic. I would have liked to hear some Ethiopian music. I could see that sometimes they have live music, but not when we were there for lunch.

The taste was good. We had vegetarian plus lamb dishes, but we found hair before finishing our meal…😖

I ate there with my friends and we got the veggie combo with tibs. The next day we all got sick and I was hit the hardest. I threw up the veggies especially the carrot dish. As my mom always warned me, those veggies are never fresh, they were cooked for a while and kept in the fridge and microwaved for later use. No fresh anything in this restaurant. Please be careful on what you eat because you don’t want to get a long week full of diarrhea and nausea.

There are some places you go and you instantly feel at home. While in San Diego, I intentionally supported Black businesses and got some good Vegan food. When I went to this restaurant, I got more than I expected. The owner was very welcoming and personable. I enjoyed the food, which was a large portion seasoned just right! Ethiopian vegan food?!! Yes, please! I loved the significance of the restaurant name, which the owner explained to me in detail (you should research it too). All of the decor from the motherland were breathtaking as well. Food is decent. Service VERY SLOW. Waitresses are substandard but I find that to be a common problem at most Ethiopian restaurants. Bathroom is gross. Weak water pressure and barely any soap. BIGGEST ISSUE, TOO MANY FLIES AND GNATS in the restaurant. Specifically in the bathroom. I’m shocked this place hasn’t been sited by health inspectors

Only a three star cause one of the servers was bluntly rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful. Wanted to try some Ethiopian food for the first time and came across the restaurant, they were only a few people on the restaurant around the time and she acted like she was running out of time and got impatient by just asking simple questions customers would usually ask. I pointed a picture on the menu and she told me you can’t order through a picture, smh. For new beginners this can be intimidating cause not everyone will know every cultural food on the menu and sometimes we are only asking for insights not to “consume your time” She ended switching to serve another table and we were welcomed with a young kind hearted lady who explained to us everything and provided reassurance and clarification. We ordered the Veggie combo and the middle was spicy lamb. The food here honestly speaks for itself, so delicious and flavorful, however the service here is a hit or miss so be aware!

Uhh… I’ve been here before but the vibes of tonight was totally off. Our waiter was somewhat slow and told us a lot of the stuff on the menu was unavailable. When I went to the bathroom there were gnats on the wall. It took a while for the dishes to come out. Injera was cold, thin, and tasted off. All of the meats tasted bland and uninspiring. We kept eating the dish because we were hungry but felt unsatisfied by the end of the meal. This was subpar Ethiopian for DC standards.

We visited on a Thursday night around 9:00 pm. There are lots of decent to good Ethiopian places in downtown Silver Spring but most were closed. Was told they would be open until 2:00 am and that their kitchen would close at midnight, so this was a huge plus for us Both the food and the service was pretty good, not amazing. Looks like they have live music on Fridays and maybe the weekend, too. All in all, it's definitely a solid place in a very convenient location.

Another 10 minutes passed to get the bill which included beer charge that i never ordered. Was refunded the cost of beer in cash, but it took additional time. All in all wasted an hour waiting. Came home looking forward to enjoy the food. Meat was tough and chewy. Certainly NO ribeye, but inferior much cheaper cut of meat Was tired of chewing it. It came with onions and injera. Some spices on the side. Could not finish and dumped half of it in garbage. As a bar this place is ok, but avoid ordering food there.

Lucy's Ethiopian Restaurant was an exceptional experience. I was greeted with a warm smile. The service was done in a timely and pleasant manner. More importantly, the food was delicious I was more than satisfied.

Only got a beer and also an appetizer. The appetizer was so delicious, the meat was well seasoned. They were just really busy and it seemed no one knew what they had in stock regarding the drinks, or food. Everyone was really nice, and I think if they were not so busy the service would have been better. I want to go back because again the food was well seasoned hot, and super delicious! I ate it so fast I didn’t take a picture so I wish I did.

The real Ethiopian food taste amazing and amazing service

Quite tasty Ethiopian food - we had injera, veggie combo and a beef dish (girgiro). Unfortunately they don't offer any hot drinks (coffee or tea). I'm very happy to see several other Ethiopian restaurants in Silver Springs, will need to compare them and advise afterwards on their relative merits.

The food taste is bad. It does not have any flavour. Tasteless food. I never go back this place again.

Lack of Cleanliness, Bland food, extremely small portions for the price. Floor was dirty, bathroom isn't regularily cleaned, food may not be prepared in a cleanly manner either..

I live in Virginia area everytime I come to silverspring spring . I come to eat Lucy Resturant. I Love vegi combo and firiffir it's the best and very testy the watters very friendly and food serve not more than 10min . I recommend to come and check it out . They have coffee ceremony start after 4pm .

We’ve tried many Ethiopian restaurants in the Washington area (and in Ethiopia & Kenya) — some were good but deteriorated over time, some closed and of course some were just average. In searching for a new favorite, we went to Lucy’s in Silver Spring. Very impressed with good quality & taste. Generous portions too. Kay wot, miser wot & gomen were very good. One standout was a specialty dish with chickpeas (name?) was superb. The aware tibs were good but less impressive than other tibs we’ve had. Service was good and place was almost fully packed on a Sunday early evening. We highly recommend this place and Lucy’s will be our new go-to Ethiopian.
