Great place to meet great people. Food is a little better than normal food places. Delicious. We loved this place but young family and managers drove us away because of our Christianity. It was very shameful. We sit at the bar and it would seem they sit in the back office listening to all we say and judging us as older adults. You can't help stupid. We spent a fortune there. I guess we didn't fit into their swinger ways. Not the owners but perhaps their son and management for sure. I tried contacting owner to let them what's going on but we are insignificant I suppose.

Quite literally every single time I visit McFarlane's I have an excellent experience. The food is incredible, and they have a large drink selection, with seasonal specials. The staff are exceptional, both in their professionalism and their friendly demeanor. I have been to this restaurant more than a dozen times, and I have never had a poor or negative experience. I will be a loyal McFarlane's customer for many years.

The food was outstanding! So much tasty goodness to choose from, and the atmosphere and wait staff also made it worth the stop!

The food is so good, we had a great server, although he had to see about us and guests outside he really was on top of things. The food came out on time, and the drinks are so good. The only thing they need upgrades on is the sitting inside don't like the fact that everyone is so close to each other, and some tables are sharable. The outside needs another fan because just that 1 fan is not working. Everything is very satisfying!!! We love this place especially Happy Hour

They have such a variety of food and it's all authentic! Took me back to my time in Ireland and Scotland. Our waiter we also equal parts helpful and Scottish sass, haha! A nostalgic visit that left me leaving with a smile on my face.

The cocktails are good too. 7/24 Update: While in search for the best unique sandwiches in LC, I tried the shipwreck poboy. On paper, it was a wonderful collection of ingredients that sounded good, but wasn’t properly executed. The bread is too soft and cannot hold up to all the moisture in this sandwich. As is, I would say this is a fork and knife sandwich. A stiffer French bread would make a better boat to carry all those wet ingredients to your mouth. My second complaint is the texture of the sandwich is off due to the lack of any crunchy element and heavy sauce. I would like to try a version of this where the seafood is fried and lighter handed on the sauce or with a remoulade served on the soft bread. 5/10 would not order this sandwich again. **Review only of this sandwich. Everything else I’ve had here has always been excellent**

I’ve been there twice now, both times mid afternoon. Food and service has been good. I just noticed a fee for using my Amex today though. I’m not sure if that applies to all credit cards, and what about debit? Credit card expense is just part of doing business and left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth when I had to ask why my bill was different that the total. It’s not worth it Mac Farlane’s, no matter what the person with the spread sheet told you….cut it out.

First time here, but we will definitely be coming back. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cheerful, fun, and laid back. J.D. was our server, and he did an excellent job. He was very attentive to us. He was very patient with our many questions. Just an all around cool place for lunch.

We went on a Tuesday and loved the place. The food tasted amazing and the service was really good. The waitress was incredibly patient with us as it was our first visit. We ended up getting the Spinach Artichoke dip, a Nasty Irishman, and a Bunratty. The appetizer was perfect. Both of our sandwiches were a bit overcooked, but they still tasted good. The burger was very well done as opposed to the medium well, and the chicken had charring on the breading. Once the bad breading was gone, it tasted amazing. We think it was either a new chef or just an oops in timing. Either way, we want to make the trip from Texas and try again.

We went today around 1 and it was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was awesome, he even did a magic trick for us lol. I had some shared fried mushrooms, and they were great! The margaritas were tasty! My main dish was the crab mac & cheese, and omg it was heavenly! From the cheese to amount of crabmeat you get in it, I want it again already! Definitely a recommend!

There is not enough space to say all the negative from our visit. But I can say whole heartedly this is absolutely the worst restaurant I have ever been to. If you do not have multiple hours and the patience of Sister Teresa, skip it! Waited probably 10 minutes for waitress, never received all waters, missing one tea, the food took at least 45 minutes if not an hour to arrive. Two out of three wrong and this one was cold. Never received silverware. Asked for checks to leave - had a time related event to go to. Bills were wrong, over charged, sides cost money even though they say they are included and can be substituted. Running out of time, but this is a complete waste of money and horrible service!!!

Hate having to sit with smokers because we don't want to exclude our 17yo son for Sunday brunch.

It was my first time. Food was amazing. I think it was Sam who helped us out picking food and took good care of us. Will definitely be back for Sunday brunch and to check out other food options other days of the week.

Nothing is wrong! The pub is located in the city center and doesn't look like much from the outside. The welcome is simple and we take a table for two inside. The service is good and attentive. That's all that goes. For everything else it's a disaster. The prices are crazy. A beer in an aluminum can $8. A chicken salad with a nice chicken fillet (but quite fatty), three cherry tomatoes salad, caramelized nuts (🥸) and a little cheese: $19. For my part I had the fish and chips ($20) which were good without being exceptional or very generous. The extremely noisy environment (of course it's a pub but not being able to talk or hear each other at lunchtime isn't great). We are very far from the spirit of the Celtic pub: the atmosphere, popular and traditional dishes at reasonable prices and cheap draft beer. In short, in the end with taxes, bank card fees, tips it comes to $60 for two for a medium chicken salad and two breaded fish fillets with fries and cabbage. With a can of beer. Delusional 🤯 I find it difficult to understand the rave reviews, or even the sustained attendance, when at the same time there are restaurants like Southern Spice, Texas Roadhouse and dozens of others at half price for better and more generous. I have been to the restaurant on a number of occasions, but this past Sunday we went and the service was absolutely horrible, they were very rude, it made it seem like they didn't want us there, so we left to go to a much more friendly atmosphere. The sad part about it we did not get seated, there was a guy with long curly blonde hair that was very rude.

Irish pub out of shepherds pie and corned beef at 8 pm on a Friday night. Our third choice was the lamb chops. After waiting nearly an hour for them, one was severely undercooked, cold on the inside. The other was so fatty, it was not edible. Served over a bed of cold Mac and cheese - was not supposed to be cold. Manager was waiting tables instead of managing! Not surprising service out of the kitchen was so bad. Good selection of beer. Stick with that.

Seafood mac and cheese was really good, the fried green tomatoes however were not the best. They didn't have enough flavor. Service was good.

Really enjoyed our visit at lunch. James was very engaged waiter and got all our orders correct. We ate outside on the porch, where they allow pets. Try the amazing crab grill cheese sandwich 🥪 YUM!

Tried to go for the first time yesterday, however with the parade we had to walk around downtown to get there. Upon arriving the host immediately greeted us with “ we close in 15 we’re not sitting anyone” which is reasonable me and my husband both serve. But he asked if he could use the restroom before we had to walk back across downtown and she said “no, unless you’re sitting in and eating” which she just refused seating us. We’ve heard nothing but good things about this place but our only experience was with a bad attitude will not be returning

We have been frequenting MacFarlanes since they opened and have never experienced less than stellar service and food quality. The atmosphere is unique for the Lake Area and the owners have done a great job recreating both traditional Irish/Celtic fare and ambiance.

The food was amazing. The corned beef and cabbage sandwich is 10/10. The fries are the best with really good seasoning. The drinks were great. Really liked the Butterbeer. Love the vibe.

This was our 1st visit as we were looking to try somewhere new for Sun brunch since all of our other places are closed on Sun. Hostess/Wait staff are so nice and everything we ordered was amazing! Even ordered the ribeye(med rare) and eggs with cubed hashbrowns and it all was cooked perfectly! Also had just a reg Bloody Mary and it was also perfect! Not many tables inside but does have a few on their outside patio, so get there early or be ready to wait a while for a table! Already looking fwd to our next visit:) Highly recommend trying this place out as it's also a pub to get your favorite drink!

Stopped with my sister while driving back from Lake Charles to Shreveport for lunch. Service was quick and friendly. Food was 10/10. My sister and I both had the chicken and dumplings and it was seriously the most delicious chicken and dumplings we have ever had in a restaurant. I know what you are thinking, "An Irish pub in a cajun town?....hmm" That thought kept me from coming to this place for a year or so and that is too bad because here you will find the best traditional Celtic food anywhere. Shepherds Pie has little chunks of lamb in it and is really the best version if Shepherds pie. The funny thing at MacFarlanes is everything they do seems to be really good. For example, they make the best Oyster Poboy that I have had. The chicken and dumplings is perfect comfort food and they do it great here. Of course they have a great beer and whiskey selection but it is even better than you would expect as they work hard to not only offer the normal offerings of tap Guinness and such but also support the region and beyond interesting microbrews. So, come here for the Celtic stuff...and all the other stuff too. There is surly something here for everyone. Oh, ALL of the service staff is top notch here too. Also great outdoor seating area. Had the Blarney Stones which is a jalepeno popper with sausage no cream cheese. They were ok. Buuuut....you want something amazingly delicious!! Get The Nasty Irishman.
