Still very good, used to be a little better… I think they may have been short staffed today though. I’d still recommend the place overall. Coffee could definitely be stronger, and I remembered the hogfish Benedict being better. Portions are massive though, and overall still a great option. Very accommodating for allergies though, and have gluten free options if you need them.

This is the exact type of place we look for when we travel. It's a local place with a great atmosphere and excellent food. I had steak & eggs with bacon and the wife had bacon, eggs, and sausage. 10 out of 10 for everything we ate, our server Dylan, and the restaurant. We'll be back!

We come here pretty often and have always been happy with the food and service. I really like that they have a good selection of choices for both breakfast and lunch. On this last visit I had “Mangrove Mike’s Super Special” with French toast, scrambled eggs(well done) and all bacon(also well done). My breakfast was delivered in a timely manner and just as I ordered 😀. For lunch visits I usually get the club sandwich, which is consistently on point. My wife and I eat here a few times a month. We have notched a lot of recent remodeling/updates to both the inside and outside of the restaurant.if you are in Islamorada and haven’t tried this place yet, I highly recommend you give it a try.

We found this place due to being fans of the show Bloodline. What a find! Great place, great service and great food! Do not miss the cinnamon rolls or the key lime pie! That being said my crab Benedict was amazing! This we be a must any time we're in the Keys!

Avoid this place at all cost. I ordered some breakfast and when I went to pickup it up, the owner was yelling to me "you better tip my girl" i was a bit confused and asked her why when im picking up my order and not dinning in. Her response was " oh don't worry about it. The next time you order, we'll give ourselves a tip" I asked her even without my permission, and she said yes. She had me in shock due to her nasty attitude and very poor customer service skills. And then when I got home and tried their breakfast, which was only pancakes, eggs, and bacon! It was horrible!!! Like how you mess up breakfast and then try to strong arm a tip. Due to the owners attitude and nasty food, I'll never step foot in this place ever again!!!

We went on a busy day, put our name on a list and walked around the shop. We were called and then told to wait in a cramped area and a table behind us was sat ahead of us. The lady sitting people was very abrasive yelling/ chastising other guests. Including a sat couple who was waiting for their friends. I was happy when were sat and away from that energy. Then we ordered and food was slow. I got the french toast sampler and 2 of the 4 types I didn’t take more than a bite. My husband’s food was ok and my daughter got a pancake and a sad piece of bacon which was all ok, she loves pancakes and ate only part of the one. I had to use the bathroom which was in the front and on my way back to the table I got called out by the lady “ have you been helped” just very abrasive and unnecessary. I went here because of the reviews and out of all the restaurants we went to in the keys this is the one I wish I would have skipped. Clearly there were a lot of locals that liked it here and I am sure didn’t encounter the attitude I did but I will not go back.

Such a great place! A Key West vibe, with amazing and tasty food selections. The staff makes you feel like family, and that you are eating in their dining room.

Mangrove Mikes is a Keys Icon. Now that Kelly is managing it she brings her friendly demeanor and focus on service to the next level. Ritz Carlton service with a down home Keys feel. 👍

My husband and I enjoyed a great breakfast! I am gluten free and they had a great variety of GF options. The staff was very friendly! The egg and Brie sandwich on GF toast was delicious!!

Tourist trap.... Don't like it @ all

Been there twice, great food, great service from the serving staff…. But heaven help you if additional family decide to join you (unplanned) on a Sunday morning. I get it. I do, especially on a busy day, that seating needs proper allocation, etc. But it was unnecessary for the hostess/seating manager to crap me out in public, whereas a quiet and polite word as an aside, would have done. Message, fully understood, but the delivery could have been a lot more polite and professional.

Sunset is the best hour. The food is delicious and they have vegan dish too. Also great drinks. Beautiful views.

This is by far our favorite spot in the keys. The service, food, and energy is on point. They always make us feel at home and care about their customers. They have a special family atmosphere and treat everyone special. Liz, Kelly, and Dillion were terrific! If you’re in the area you must check it out.

Excellent cafe where the typical American diner took a turn and the paid homage to the Florida Keys - such a great atmosphere, and the excellent execution of the food, typical and those with a twist.

Great food. Fair price. Don't expect fancy and overdone, just really well executed food that will stick to your bones.

Islamorada is our favorite spot in the Keys and Mangorve Mikes is one of our favorite spots on the Island. We go multiple times every visit (which is 2-3 ties a year). Kelly, Jackie, and Josie are awesome!

Dude! Mangrove Mike's is off the chain! The breakfast is delicious, nice cafe vibes. I had to treat myself to a cute t-shirt (cropped top) after my meal.

Waited about 45 min to be seated then another 25 min just for the server to acknowledge us and not even take our order she server 2 tables that were sat after us and then decided to come get our order for drinks then waited another 20 min and didn’t bring what we order then she finally came to take our order waited about 30 min for food which wasn’t that bad but then she didn’t bring our complete order we ordered two hash browns on the side we told her that we are missing those so she brings one and we tell her that we ordered 2 she then 15 min later brings us 2 more we told her we didn’t want them anymore and she still wanted to charge us for it thank god the check out lady was very nice and took them off

Mangrove Mike's is such a gem! The atmosphere is great, and it's clearly a local favorite. Kelly was our server and she was fabulous. We had a great time reading about Mike and looking at all of the memories on the wall. If you're looking for great stick-to-your-ribs food this is a must try!

Unreal amount of delicious food.

My husband and I are both locals since 2009 and went to Mangrove Mike's yesterday for breakfast. I hadn't been since the new owners took over. The restaurant had some great changes- more like upgrades- but still has the unique "Key-sie" atmosphere that people crave. The service was excellent! Our server was super nice- Brie. And our food was delicious and plenty to eat- so, we didn't need to eat lunch! My husband (Capt Ryan of Good Karma Sportfishing & Coaching in Tavernier) got the famous key lime pie for take home and said it was the best! We both highly recommend and will be back.

This is not a repeatable restaurant. Stopped in for a late breakfast on our way north. We were seated immediately. Took a few minutes to see our waitress. She took our order and that was the last of the pleasantries of the visit. Our orders took about 30 minutes to arrive. When they did show up, my wife's meal was completely wrong. She ordered a scramble and was brought country fried steak. Back it went and waited another 18 minutes for the correct order. I was stuck with a decision to either eat and finish while we waited for hers or wait with her and let mine get cold. Also ordered a side of bacon which didn't come with her incorrect meal. Informed the waitress of this before she brought the incorrect meal back and it still wasn't brought out with the correct meal. I told the waitress to just remove it from the bill. She instead brought it out after we were finished and it was still on our bill. Food was decent, service was rediculous.

Everytime we come down here, we like to support the local businesses. MM Cafe never disappoints! The food is great and plentiful. The workers are really friendly, hard workers who make sure we are all satisfied.

This is our go to spot for breakfast or lunch when in the keys. The breakfast menu has everything you can ask for and the portions are huge. The key lime pie is excellent, we always take a pie home for later. Staff is friendly and always accommodating… Mike’s feels like home and never disappoints.

Great atmosphere, friendly service. Food, very disappointing. Hogfish Benedict, the fish and biscuit was very dry. Hash Browns undercooked . Pancakes were rubbery, hard to cut. Good coffee.

This is our go to place for breakfast. We have a place in the keys and stop by every other week for breakfast on the way back to the mainland. Food is delicious and the waitresses are attentive.

Very nice and laid back place. Kelly the manager took care of us. Food was absolutely delicious. Huge portions.Very clean. You can also pick some gift from the shop in your way out.

First of all, the service. The most amazing people greeted us. We had to wait for a tad, but they talked to us, and looking at them interacting with other guests was charming. The food was excellent; the bacon was crisp and delicious. Every dish we ordered was tasty and well-portioned. We will come back every time we visit Islamorada.

First timer at Mangrove Mike’s and I am COMING BACK FOR MORE!! I had the Country Scramble (sorry no pic… I was hungry!) and let me tell you I was in NIRVANA! Donna was an amazing server and her knowledge of the menu was on point. The staff were amazing as well, it was VERY crowded and even then everyone was put on a list and served accordingly! They run it well!!!

Mike’s feels like a breakfast spot in the keys should. Lots of fun decor, great food, enormous portions, friendly staff, and an adjacent art gallery/shop. What’s not to love?

A hidden local cafe with great food and customer service. The menu isn’t very big but the food is cooked with love. It wasn’t too busy nor was it expensive. Try it next time you’re in the area.

The food is typical diner fare. It lists vegan options but they are very limited. The service was good but not exceptional. They are a nice group of people though the service can be slow.

First time visiting the Keys, but have lived in Florida my whole life. As my husband and I were heading back home, we stopped here for breakfast, and I have to say that was the absolute BEST breakfast I have ever had. I had the country fried steak, and omg 10/10. It’s my favorite breakfast dish at a cafe, and this was the best I’ve ever eaten. Deff don’t pass this place up if you come down to visit. Staff and everyone is also very awesome as well! Great experience and great food!!!

This old favorite breakfast place has kept it's charm and service. Unfortunately the food has fallen a few notches. Both the Hogfish beni and Chicken waffles were a bit bland. :-) Rebuttal to Owner below: My apology if you feel a solicited request for review from Google constitutes an "attack". It was not. In my humble opinion, the food was mediocre. The service and atmosphere was very good to excellent. I stand by my solicited assessment. On the other hand, your reply to me a long time customer of Mangrove Mike's , was confrontational: I Quote "Obviously you feel satisfaction attacking us on google rather than in person" In reading your replies to other dissatisfied paying customers, this seems to be a pattern. It takes many years to build a great reputation only weeks to destroy it. Rebuttal to Rebuttal :-) : Look this is simple, we didn't like our food and we chose to not send it back. Most people don't send their food back. More so at this price point. Your suggestion that we attacked you online and should have done it in person is rubbish. If this thread is any indication, it appears you feel confrontation in person is good for the customer. It is NOT. We were there for good food, good service, good atmosphere. You did very well on two out of three. Life is too short to argue about egg dishes! It's simple. When Google solicited a review from me via email, I complied and provided 2/4/5 review that is NOT an attack. Nor is it as you ask my "objective" to destroy your reputation. It's one man's opinion. I sincerely wish you well. These are tough times for many businesses and customers. Post Covid many local favorites have struggled. God speed on all your projects.

Overall its an OK option, food was good not amazing, service was acceptable, but we were stuck back in the back room which is like a utility closet converted to a restaurant. Cramped, no windows. Perhaps our experience would have been better in the main restaurant, but even then the place is in a strip mall. My lesson is, if you're in the keys spend it with nice views and outdoors if you can.

Amazing experience, great staff, delicious food! Came for brunch last week and celebrated my birthday the key lime pie was outstanding! They also have the best merchandise to take home! We loved it! Mangrove Mikes is and has always been the best place to eat in the keys! Can’t wait to go back!

I want to take a moment to praise the amazing atmosphere and staff at Mangrove Mike's. On vacation, I read glowing reviews about the food, and it did not disappoint! The portions were enormous! I was warmly welcomed by the manager, who took the time to chat with me, making me feel like a regular. Usually, I don't get a homey feeling when dining out while traveling, but Mangrove Mike's was different. Everything was so clean and fresh. I also learned about the restaurant's history and picked up a cool tie-dye hoodie to show off back home. They have made some upgrades I heard! I'll probably come here every morning while I'm in town to try new things! Despite inflation making dining out more expensive, the generous portions made it worth every penny. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. You guys rock!

I hope the owner reads this. You’re hurting your staff especially in these hard times by charging such outrageous prices because their tips suffer. $4 for a Diet Coke, $4 for a couple cut up strawberries on my son’s pancakes, $12.99 for a single egg, a slice of American cheese, and a single sausage link cut in half on a bun. It’s sickening. Just because others are price gouging people doesn’t mean you should, it’s theft. Pitiful.

My fishing buddies and I stopped in to grab coffee as we waited out a storm at 6am - as they were one of the only places open on the island at that hour. We went from coffee to full on breakfast once we saw a few plates get served at other tables. The menu is creative and soooo delicious. Blew our expectations away…

5/25/24 - We returned to Mangrove Mike's for breakfast because yesterday's was so good and there were some other items we wanted to try. The service was friendly and helpful both days and the environment is exactly as it should be for a diner in the Keys. The eggs Benedict were fantastic with the thickest pieces of ham I've ever had with a Benedict. My wife had the blueberry French toast which was also a winner. We returned and I had the biscuits and gravy. The gravy had a good flavor, but as a guy who has had a lot of biscuits and gravy the biscuits were just adequate. I'd suggest ordering something else. My wife got one of the Tater Tot Towers, the bacon and cheese to be precise. It's called a tower for good reason. It was good, but be warned - it is a lot of food. We also had to try the Homemade Cinnamon Roll. They warmed it up for us and it was tremendous even though I don't normally like cream cheese frosting on cinnamon rolls. My final comment is that the owners and team are honoring the legacy of founder Mike Forster. I never met the man, but it's clear that he was loved. Stop in if you get a chance and enjoy a great breakfast in a warm and welcoming environment. I can see why it's a favorite with locals.

We were staying at a pretty swanky resort near by which I won’t name but the service at the resort was so horrible that we sought out somewhere to go for breakfast every morning. We were lucky to find a mangrove Mike’s that was only a half mile down the road. Best service and food around. All the workers help each other to make sure each customer is taken care of, if a server noticed you need a coffee refill, they refill it even though you aren’t their table. I even heard a server thank a worker for making it in and asked if he needed a ride home. They don’t miss any details. I absolutely love this place. It’s no wonder they have so many regulars, whom they know by name.

Not impressed with the food: undercooked potatoes, and eggs over easy (still liquid whites). The service was great though.

Be careful when you go here. They will charge you for every little thing. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and the waitress asked me what kind of cheese I wanted on it and if I wanted fruit, hash browns, or tater tots. These are NOT included with your dish. It is charged separately. And they are not up front about this. And the food is mediocre. Save your money and go somewhere else. It's a standard breakfast place that will overcharge you. They also kept bringing dishes to the wrong tables.

Called ahead for a party of twelve which we know they don’t take reservations but Diane said she would do their best and to call 10 minutes before arriving. We did, she was confused as all get out. Ended up seating another party of twelve that had called and come after us. After waiting 45 minutes, asking multiple times, even suggestions to split us up into three tables, only answers was “I gotta check the computer” and “oh, there’s still more ahead of you”. Which all was a complete joke as we watched multiple people walk in and get sat who had arrived well after us.

Me and my family got very sick after eating,I've never left a review for a restaurant before,the only reason I'm leaving one is because it's ruined two days of our vacation and I can only hope they practice better sanitary precautions, apparently we were not the only ones who got sick yesterday. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, my wife and 3 children got violently ill, thank goodness our 2 year didn't eat hers.Obviously didn't deserve any stars.

Best breakfast/brunch in the keys! It was so good we went back everyday we were in Islamorada. Also took home a key lime pie and it was amazing!!!! Can’t wait to go back.

Been coming to the keys for 20 plus years This place used to be OK, but yesterday it got me n all my family very sick been throwing up with fevers and all probably that nasty gravy do not recommend at all.

We love Mangrove Mikes! The food is delicious! Hands down best breakfast spot!!! And My favorite Quesadillas!!! Besides the food being amazing, the service is great, feels like family, everyone is so nice and personable! Oh and don’t forget the shop! My daughter loves her mangrove mikes lure cup, over her Stanley!!! All her friends want one now! And if you’re in the Keys you know you have to have a slice of their key lime pie!!! Thank me later!

BEST BREAKFAST PLACE IN THE KEYS! The service is not only amazing but the decor of the restaurant is typical aesthetic of The Keys. The breakfast portions are so large that you can easily share it with another person. My favorite part about the menu is its versatility. They have breakfast food ranging from acai bowls to omelettes to french toast and all are delicious. Please visit the art store next door which creates art frames and murals from recycled lobster traps!

Ordered the hangover helper and it tasted liked fish sent it back and the same thing clean your grill or what you put it in. Had breakfast here many times and always great

Great breakfast, and plenty of it.

Bri was an absolute peach, and the coffee was the best I have had in recent memory. Everyone was so friendly, and they let me camp out and work on my laptop for a couple hours and kept the coffee coming. My omelet was the perfect mix, and the breakfast quesadillas were out of this world. RUN don't walk!!! A fantastic authentic keys experience.
