This place was wonderful. It’s located conveniently in Midtown Gainesville. That always confuses me because I always think downtown is midtown but midtown is downtown. But I digress. The food was absolutely wonderful and the ambiance was amazing. The food was phenomenal and the steak was cooked to perfection. They had a wonderful selection of wines. And the sides were great too. We went for my fiancés birthday and made a great choice to celebrate tie occasion. We will certainly be back

Best service!!! The food was great too but the service was top notch. Bartender was on point and everything went great. I had no clue Gainesville had such a great steakhouse. It’s the real deal.

There seems to be some kind of review wars going on in Gainesville with regard to the top 3 steak houses. Dueling reports of good and bad at each place. This is my first venture into any of them. It's totally unbiased as I am not from the area, don't know any of the server staff or owners. Our party of 4 are high end wine enthusiasts and we brought 3 very nice bottles to the table. Our server expertly decanted the two bottles that required it. We had previously decanted the 3rd bottle back in our hotel room. Service and food were top notch throughout the meal. I'm sorry to have forgotten our server's name but he was excellent for us. The timing of everything was perfect. We had both the 20 oz bone in ribeye and the Delmonico and they were prepared expertly by their grill master. We will definitely return to eat here again on our next visit to Gainesville.

The food was very good, but a little overpriced based on what it was. Fortunately, I was a guest of another party who picked up the check. This wasn't my first time there.

Went with my husband and his parents visiting from NC and was their anniversary. Food was OP and the service was top notch as well. Much recommended 💯

Drinks were made perfectly our waitress was the sweetest thing! I ordered a Delmonico and it was cooked to perfection. Best steak I've ever had. I can't remember the appetizer we had but it had lobster and cheese all in it and you dipped bread in it. (Lobesr escargot) and it was glorious. The grouper was also delicious.

Husband and I went out for a date night to Marks. They have an amazing happy hour at the bar. We got all of their happy hour appetizers, and they were delicious. The specialty drinks on happy hour were good too. Nice quite atmosphere. Great for a date night!

Everything was great thank you Jeremy for always treating us so great. The beef Wellington was to die for. Of course my husband‘s lobster tail was amazing. Everything was great thank you all and Mark for being so gracious and great food.!❤️

The food was flavorless, the main waiter was MIA most of the time, and my daughter got food poisoning. The lobster escargot was disgusting. The French onion soup, beef tips, potatoes, and brussel sprouts all tasted like the were previously cooked and just reheated to serve… for $100+ a person. Maybe they lost their chef or the chef is on vacation. Worst of all the food poisoning. My daughter said the peppercorn sauce tasted off. She was violently ill all night, so we missed our tour of UF, the reason for our trip! Thanks Mark’s steakhouse!

I wanted to love Mark's steakhouse and I like to believe I'm generally pretty easy to please when it comes to food. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is excellent. The menu looks promising... ...but the food...was a mixed bag of "blah" and "hey, that's pretty good" (at best). Here's what we tried: 11 oz filet mignon (not bad, pretty good, recommend ordering it darker/more cooked than you want as our "medium" seemed way below) Roasted herb chicken (extremely bland and dry) Twiced baked potato - average Fingerling potatoes-- VERY good. Best thing we had... Every bite was perfectly crispy on the outside... warm and toasty inside.. Sauteed mushrooms - good.. Bacon roasted brussel sprouts-- awful. like.. really bland to bad... I've had this dish and others like it at many restaurants-- This was the first time I ever just couldn't even get through it.

Best steak I’ve had in a very long time. I ordered the Delmonico medium rare and it came out sizzling on a hot plate. I cut into it and the temperature was perfection. Just under medium rare, and the longer it sat on the hot plate the temperature slowly rose to that perfect wall to wall pink interior. My server was really nice and helpful as well. He recommended the bacon & blue cheese risotto to go with my steak and it was a home run. I feel bad I forgot his name. I think my memory was wiped clean the second I carved into this beast of a steak. It is hard to fathom such a great meal coming out of a college town, so if you are in Gainesville visiting your kids that are at school here this is the place to go.

Located downtown. I visited here on a Saturday night, I would recommend to have a reservation as it was quite busy. Upon arrival I was promptly seated at our table. Our waiter was great, paid attention to details and recommended a few options. Mark’s has a great selection of wines. For dinner, we order steak and some sides. Unfortunately they were sold out of their chef meat special this evening. I would recommend the Delmonico cut, twice baked potato, and the risotto. The risotto changes daily as it’s a chef special of the day. Lastly, we had to wait over an hour for our entrees to arrive, the manager did come over and apology for the wait time. Thankfully shortly after that, the food was brought to the table.

I hadn’t been to Marks in several years. Previously I’d always had a memorable meal but not this time. While the service was strong as usual, the food had been overly tampered with. LEAVE THE QUALITY INGREDIENTS ALONE! The escargot had fontina or emmental melted over it, completely overpowering the escargot. The scallop appetizer had beautiful scallops wrapped in bacon with some reduction drizzled over them. The taste of those beautiful scallops was lost. Our spinach side had Parmesan cheese melted into it, giving it an “old sock” taste and flavor. In the past it had just been butter which was fine. The risotto was ok but not a side I’d order again. My steak was done perfectly but my guest’s filet was ordered medium well ( a bad call on her part) but arrived well done. All in all it was a classic example of being artsy crafty with ingredients that could have stood by themselves.

Second visit to this location. First was several years ago and we were very impressed. We went again last night 2/10/24, and not pleased.. I had petite filet which was overcooked, my husband had bone in ribeye which was very fatty with no flavor at all... this is absurd for a $60 steak. We can do better on our own with publix steaks. This was our Valentine's dinner and for a $300 bill we were quite disappointed!!! The prices are no longer reflective of the quality of dining!

My wife and I have dined at Mark's in Gainesville several times; however, last night (02/03/2024) did not live up to expectations. I'm not sure what happened, or where the fault lies, but we received terrible service and food last night. We had reservations for 7:15 pm and arrived at about 7:10 pm. We were seated quickly and ordered, but did not receive our food until a little over an hour after ordering. When we did recieve our food, both steaks were overcooked - well done. In the past, we've always received rare to medium-rare, which is perfectly acceptable. Well done is just a waste of a steak and you might as well go to a chain restaurant at that point - it would be far less expensive. My suspicion is they were left on the plates too long before being brought to our table. If you are unfamiliar with Mark's, the plates are typically very hot, and can cook the steak themselves. We showed the server, Alexander, who agreed they were overcooked but offered no recourse and also offered no refills. It was very disappointing considering the price and past quality. Mistakes happen, and when they do, should be corrected; unfortunately - they were not.

This place blows away Spurriers and Embers away! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us and sat us down immediately. The waiter, "Scott" was awesome and did a great job in describing some of the food choices. The food was exceptional, even for people like us who have high expectations. If you are in Gainesville and looking for a great up-scale restaurant that provides a high value experience, this is the place!

The food and bar service were as good as it gets. The wine selection is not broad but is good quality and sufficient. Steak was amazing. The honey chipotle sauce with pork chop tasted like the best of orange blossom and tupelo honey with the perfect amount of heat. The mushroom side was incredible.

Our second visit and the food is always incredible. No complaints. However, our appetizers ran into a “snafoo” in the kitchen. The manager came out to inform us but didn’t offer anything to make up for the excessive delay. Other groups, whom were seated after us, received their appetizers well before us. The Bourbon menu was lacking…we tried ordering 3 different bourbons for my father’s retirement celebration and they were out of them. The drink menu should certainly be adjusted. Hands down the best food in town but definitely disappointed in the service this time around.

Very nice! Company dinner was held there. Food was amazing, staff was on point. They stamped my parking ticket so I'd get a discount. Did that just sound cheap of me? Lol

We had good service, although the entree took a long time to be served. The steak was asked for rare to medium rare. It was medium all though; the fish plate of the day had cold scollops, but the fish was good; the crab bische was very good, but the lobster escargot appetizer was terrible, over cooked, too chewy, the plate was not appetizing. We will not be back. Very expensive for not the best food.

Marks is by far the best restaurant in Gainesville. The service (Gary) and food is way defiantly the best this city has to offer.

Mark's prime steakhouse in my opinion is the number one fine dining restaurant in Gainesville Florida! I am absolutely shocked that this is not a Michelin starred restaurant. All the food is made from scratch and prepared perfectly and the front of house service is immaculate. Marks has always been good when I was at the restaurant. We ordered delivery. Not so good. The wedge was a gigantic hunk of iceberg lettuce with about 10 bacon bits and a few minuscule pieces of tomato. Would cost about $1 to make. The blue cheese dressing was watery and tasteless - I remember loving a thick blue cheese dressing at the restaurant. The burger looked delicious but when eating it - there must be some meat that is supposed to be ground up (brisket? steak?) but it wasn't, so huge dry chunks broke off that were hard to chew. Disappointing. Hope it's just delivery that is suboptimal

We celebrated my Mom’s 90th birthday on a Saturday evening with several close friends. The dining experience was superior. Upon arrival, staff members helped us set up decorations we brought, in which we were not expecting, but very thankful. The staff were perfectly attentive and the salmon / steaks, sides, bread, and deserts were excellent. Even the ice tea was great. Several of our guest stated they had never heard of Mark’s Prime Steakhouse in Gainesville, Florida, but will definitely return to dine. Thank you Jessica and staff for helping to make this a memorably beautiful evening for our Mom.

Asked for a rare steak, guy next to me got the rare steak. Took 10 minutes to get a drink. Then when I finished it, 10 more minutes to get asked for another. Service sucks, food was not worth the money, and in my opinion, a hole in the wall or the regular chain restaurants like longhorn and Texas roadhouse are wayyy better and half the price. You have to ask for bread here and they don't give you butter and you have to slice it yourself. Plus bread ain't very good.

This is a great dining experience. The food is very well executed and the service is excellent. This is our second visit and we drive almost 2 hours to have dinner here. We will be back again and again.

Celebrating our recent graduate at UF, we decided to have an early dinner at Mark's Prime Steakhouse. We were quickly greeted by our server who was very positive and knowledgeable about the various cuts of meats, house specials and seafood options. The menu has a wide variety of both steak options as well as chicken, pork and seafood. The restaurant itself is done up in your typical high end steakhouse décor with lots of dark wood and leather. Overall we were very happy with the meal and it was a nice end to our graduate's celebration.

I went to Mark’s as a first timer with a party of 4 for a graduation lunch. They typically are not open during the day, so I am not sure if that is why things seemed a bit off for such a high end, high priced restaurant. The server (Joshua) was excellent. The food, not so much. We ordered calamari and coconut shrimp as appetizers. The shrimp was just your standard run of the mill coconut shrimp, although the sauce was amazing. The calamari (also amazing sauce) was definitely not the best. I believe a high end restaurant should never serve the tentacles, as that indicates a lower level of sophistication. They do serve tentacles in their calamari, so it cuts back about half of your order if no one wants to eat them at a special meal. In total my party ordered: grouper with mango salsa, he did not care for it, salmon cooked medium and it was very dry, scallops with fettuccine…and the scallops were completely raw inside of the subpar sear. Scallops are a tricky beast, and I believe they were more wet when they went into a probably not so hot pan. Barely seared, then did not maintain the sear due to the raw nature inside. I mean, raw. I don’t mind raw scallops, with the right meal that is intended to be raw. The sauce, again, was very good. I ordered the petit filet medium rare with demi glace and it looked and cut like a charcoal briquette on the outside. The inside was pink to red, but non existent of any meat juices. Thank goodness I ordered a sauce with it. I also ordered asparagus with béarnaise, which was good, but a bit too charred to the taste. Again, sauces were amazing. We will not visit again. For the price there are too many excellent restaurants in Gainesville with excellent food. The atmosphere was really nice, clean, and exactly what I expected it to look like for a upscale steakhouse. The hostess was promptly greeted us and seated us earlier than our scheduled reservation. All the service was impeccable, but the food struggled. We did not say anything to Joshua about the food, as it was a special day for us and we had a guest we just met and we did not want to “complain” about all of the food issues on that particular day. We have been there before and had a great meal. This time, not so much. Service was slow, and steak was not a $65 steak. My wife had tips special and was very chewy. We were her disappointed.
