Great little restaurant for breakfast. We were warmly welcomed and felt comfortable from the first minute. The charm of the restaurant is unique and the food is delicious. The pancakes are first class, the biscuits are wonderful, and the filter coffee is also good. I would come back any time!

This is a family-owned and operated diner that reminded me of some I grew up eating at. No frills nor trendy decor, just old-fashioned (meant positiviely) service and traditional food for a good price. Great pancakes, decent sausage patties, really good grits, and the scrambled eggs were just right. The service was attentive and very polite. It appears they may be closing shop soon which is a shame. It seems like corporate, franchised restaurants continue to expand whereas gems like this fade away. Eat here while you still can - highly recommended!

The Best Western omelet I have ever had.I'm from Wilmington North Carolina and we did a small trip to Boone and I came across this wonderful restaurant and I would recommend it to everyone that vis. It the area it's well worth it

I love going to Mary's Kitchen!!! It had been about 15 years since my last visit. Everything was still wonderful except the waffle maker was broke 😭😞😭.

This is a local favorite for good reason, homey old school cooking with home-made biscuits like your mom and grandmother would make. Great food, friendly staff. Get the chocolate gravy biscuit for a different take on breakfast, you won't regret it.

I usually don't leave bad reviews. But I was shocked at the rating of this place (Google) compared to our experience. The good: Prices were fair, and people were very kind The bad: The food and sanitation rating. At the time when we first got there I didn't even see it. Then I saw they were in the high 80's with a B. To my knowledge most places I've ate at has had an A. Even a low A. The food was bland unfortunately. Maybe we just went on an off day. Again very kind and nice people which is why I gave them 3 stars. Food and sanitation leaves much to be desired from my experience

Stopped by on a work trip..classic dinner stop with a wonderful breakfast. Family run and worth a stop. Prices are very reasonable. Don't miss it as signage is minimal. Skip the chains and go see Mary!

Mary’s is THE place for a fantastic and authentic great Southern breakfast. The eggs are cooked to perfection. Grits are creamy and flavorful. The breakfast meats like country ham are locally sourced, the biscuits and gravy are homemade, savory and fantastic. But the hash browns are to die for. Each order is separately grated from select potatoes onto the griddle and cooked in butter until golden brown and deliciously crispy. You can find fancier places, but not better breakfasts. Not fancy, but damned good!!! Mary makes every breakfast with love, caring and years of experience!!!

If your looking for a friendly, down home place to eat, Mary's Kitchen is your place. Great food, great people.

Food was excellent, service was good but very very slow,only one floor person for the whole establishment,not her fault I'm sure...but nevertheless slow,soooo if you are in a rush,go somewhere else,if not then it's a great place for breakfast!!!

Small family country breakfast at great prices.

This place was so cute! I went there this morning after I woke up too late for class and got a chocolate chip pancake, an egg and grits. First time having grits! They were good! It was really cheap, decent coffee, and the staff was friendly. I would def go back. It’s got a sort of classic old timey like 70s feel to it. Loved it.

Great breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits and gravy!

This is a gem! Only open Monday threw Friday until 11 a.m. Breakfast only. If you haven't tried Mary's you have missed out! I always say it's hard to mess up breakfast unless ya eggs aren't done or ya bacon is still squealing. None of this happens at Mary's Kitchen. I had chocolate gravy biscuits for the first time here and OMG were they divine! Regular sausage gravy is not so loaded with sausage or black pepper which I love it not so spicy it does have just the right amount of sausage in it OM eggs were cooked to perfection as were crispy hashbrowns and crispy bacon. Don't know if biscuits are scratch biscuits or not but I'd bet money they are. Prices are to cheap! This place is staffed by 79 yr old Mary and her granddaughter it's where the locals go. Go see them when you are in the Boone area.

Very good food and super reasonable prices. Eggs were some of the best I have ever had. The omelet i had was very good. Family owned by wonderful people. Vefy clean and nice country atmosphere. Will definitely go there again.

Everybody knows everybody and the wait staff knows everybody. Friendliest place that I have ever been. First time I had heard of liver mush and I tried it. It was good. I can't get it where I live, it is apparently a Western NC only delicacy. I certainly will go back next time that I am in the area.

French toast was perfect. Eggs, sausage and toast were very good. Grits were a little loose for my taste. Prices were great! We'll be back and soon!

Stopped in twice during my stay in Boone; both waitresses were very friendly, the orders were all accurate, and the good arrived quickly. Overall, a fantastic dinner atmosphere and experience. If I'm ever up that way again, I'll make sure to stop in. Oh, and some of the best hashbrowns I've ever had. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they were from freshly grated potatoes.

Amazing little breakfast place...where the locals go...the service was great, the food was great, the prices were very low...I think they should definitely charge more...our family of four enjoyed breakfast for only $27....great atmosphere, great people, great food...

Mary's Kitchen has CHOCOLATE GRAVY with biscuits!!! We were visiting the area, from Erwin, NC and looking for a local, hidden gem. We definitely found one! It's such a welcoming place, with a friendly staff. The meal reminded me so much of my grandma's cooking. I left there with a full belly and a warm heart. I gave Mary's Kitchen 5 stars only because I didn't have an option to give it more. Can't wait to get back towards Boone, so I can visit them again!

If you love country cooking and an old fashioned restaurant feel, this is the place for you. I go for breakfast and always get the Mary's special. Two eggs, biscuit and gravy and hash browns always fills me up.

Just love this place! It's becoming a regular with me and my boys, finally got my wife to go last Saturday. Just a great breakfast, and we love that while they have a menu, we can just order what we want. My 11 year old certainly loves that! Great place, full of locals, and very friendly!

Off the beaten path, but great food. It's like going back home to mamaw's home. Homemade hash browns, grated from potatoes in their kitchen. Ate breakfast there 3 times this week while camping at Flintlock.

This is a nice quaint place. It is clean and the people are nice. The menu is just plan, nothing fancy. Not anything to write home about but not bad by any stretch of the imagination. If you want a little place off the beaten path at a low price this is your place. If you have high expectations you shouldn't go. Either way, enjoy your breakfast.

Our family stopped here for breakfast on our way home from vacation. The service is great, the food is home cooked, and they had some great coffee. This is a mom and pop type restaurant, so if you want to support something local and have a home cooked meal, this is a great place to eat.

The food is really good and the prices are really good. They have a chocolate gravy which is kinda like a chocolate pudding over homemade biscuits. I was skeptical that it would be good, but I loved it. If you ever had cocoa wheats, it has the same chocolate flavor. My daughter ordered the liver mush and I thought gross, but she convinced me to try it and it is really good. Tastes like sausage. If you are looking for a place that has a large menu, don't come here, only a one page menu, but every bit of what is on the menu is good. It earned a 5 star for sure.
