I dined in over the weekend with two of my friends. My friend and I ordered chilaquiles and the other ordered birria tacos. The birria tacos were pretty good although it needed a little more salt, and it did not come with my cheese otherwise it was decent. We shared a guacamole that needed spice to it, it tastes too plain. As far as the chilaquiles goes let’s just say don’t order them if you are used to in higher expectations. The chilaquiles only came with two pieces of meat that I had to cut up in 2 pieces myself. The tortillas in the chilaquiles were hard, as much as if they were chips and I feel like they could’ve been more generous with the meat and cut it into smaller pieces like traditional chilaquiles. Overall, the waitress was super phenomenal and very kind. If it wasn’t for her I would’ve gave two stars.

This is hands down the most consistently good authentic Mexican food in New Haven and Hamden. There are a couple taco trucks in long wharf that can be intermittently good, but nobody in town is as consistently good as Mazorca. Tortas are great Enchiladas are great Burritos are great Tacos are great My only complaint is they don’t have horchata

I didn't like the mango margarita and the quesadilla portion was very small for the price. It doesn't deserve to have 4.7

I go to this restaurant at least once a week. The food is fantastic. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the spot! Super friendly staff.

I love Mazorca's food and they always have excellent service. They prepare the best salads for me and I am a fan of their tinga toast 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

First time here and I will say this is probably one of the best Mexican food spots in Hamden. My husband and I used to live in Bushwick Brooklyn and it gives us the vibe of some of the same places we used to go there. The tacos and torta we got were delicious - very flavorful and presented nice. They make their own salsas too which you can tell a good Mexican spot if they give you house salsas. Their margaritas were also delicious. We got the gelato truffle to go. Will definitely come back.

Amazing food with tons of vegetarian options. I haven’t found a menu item I don’t like. Super cute and friendly atmosphere. The owner and all the staff is also very friendly. This is one of my go to places.

The entire restaurant was a lot bigger than I thought. The food was pretty good. It was a kinda loud but there was a party then. The portion size was decent, and the peanuts served before the food was good. The desserts looked really good but I was too full to try them.

I’m pretty sure my soul ascended to another plane after eating this food. I can never eat at another Mexican restaurant again because it just will never compare. I have literally never tasted nachos this good and probably never will again unless it’s from this restaurant. I’m actually flabbergasted. How is it even legal to make food this good? Service was amazing. Would have paid three times as much including my firstborn child. 10/10 will be eating here again.

beautiful decorations and the server was lovely. Best Mexican food I've ever had in my life, the nachos were heavenly, the tacos were perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious, and they were overflowing. The truffle was also an easy 10/10. This place was sent to Earth by god, and the food is cooked as such.

Waited way too long to try this place. Absolutely excellent Mexican food. Had the pozole rojo which was delicious. The broth especially was so good. Also had a carnita taco. Not sure I've ever had pork so flavorful and tender. I wanted to try their salsa but here it's not complimentary and I was too full to order it. But will try it on the next visit

Tired of running errands up and down Dixwell? Slow down and stop in to this family-owned gem with the Mexican best food in the greater New Haven area. This review potentially risks my being able to get a table a favorite spot. It’s that good.

Some of the best Mexican my wife and I ever had! The enchiladas and chimichangas were amazing! Highly recommend the al pastor chimichanga. All of their salsas were fresh and tasty. The verde and spicy salsas were my favorites.

We've eaten here several times now and each time has been fantastic. Great no-nonsense food, a laid-back atmosphere, and super friendly staff. Every meal has been great, the only downside is we always end up over-eating because we just can't stop! Great place and looking forward to trying more and more of their menu (to my waistline's dismay lol).

The food certainly is not worth a 4.8, more like a 2/5, steak very bland, dry, totopos (chips) taste from a bag, guacamole tastes pre-mixed and is certainly not worth it. I think this place buys reviews, not possible that it is a 4.8, had much better Mexican restaurants, by far!

A nice little place with good food and a nice, friendly staff. The carnitas were a big hit with my family (both in taco and chimichanga form), and I was reasonably pleased with my shrimp chimichanga. Music coming from the bar was too loud for a noon Thursday lunch, but we were happy we came.

This place is unbelievably good. Best Mexican we’ve had in CT. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE their nachos and order them every time. Atmosphere is lovely, service is always great, and there’s always wonderful music playing. Get a spicy margarita while you’re here!

My husband and I eat here all the time we also get take out and delivery and the food is always delicious !!!! I would highly recommend trying the specials. This is definitely authentic Mexican food and traditional typical dishes. You won’t be disappointed!!! This review is coming from someone who was born and raised in Mexico City 🇲🇽

The chimichanga was literally the best I’ve ever had. (My dad said the same.) The exterior crust was out of this world… fresh, and crispy and coupled with such perfect fillings. The enchilada green sauce was decent but a little sour in my opinion, and needed a little extra kick. (We requested extra hot sauce.) The pork mole dish was also fantastic and so tender. I’m so glad this place is only a few miles from my home, and wish these guys the best.

I had really high hopes for this restaurant based on the rating and I clearly wasn’t disappointed. I’ll start with the pros: food, extremely flavourful and a good quantity (1 item per person is enough). Two items I would 100% you try is the red salsa and the chicken burrito. Both had immaculate taste and are the best salsa and burrito I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Everything was cooked to perfection, tender chicken, evenly cooked tortillas. Now, I won’t be too hard on this restaurant since it was my first time here, but I will state some cons but I will explain them as well. To start off, I think this restaurant is more popular with takeout, which isn’t a bad thing, but from what it seems, because of this, the dine in service is a little slow. However there could’ve been many reasons for this, including the fact that I came in and ate at 6pm on a Wednesday. Another thing I would like to add is a small thing about the chicken enchiladas. The taste was great, don’t get me wrong there, but there was a green salsa put on it which was overly sour and not spicy enough in my opinion. This could just be how the dish is, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of it (especially my mom). Otherwise the service and atmosphere were really good and I think out of all the Mexican restaurants I’ve tried, this is definitely the best one I’ve had in Connecticut. Finally, the exact rating I would give is a 9.57/10, so if you really enjoy this type of food or want to try something new, I definitely would recommend :)

Tam Tamal Tamales some of the best you will ever have. ( not a menu regular item ) and everything from chips salsa quesadilla are very much above avg. nice small bar too. Dont believe CT has a better mexican food joint than this.

Great customer service!! The owner came over and asked how everything was. She was extremely friendly. The al pastor tacos were really good. She brought over a homemade habanero sauce which was really flavorful with a little heat. I will definitely be going back.

Delicious food, great service at affordable prices. The hibiscus agua fresca is highly recommended along wirh the chile relleno, tres leches. Everything tasted fresh.

Loved eating here! I’m not one to photoshop or edit photos, so take them as you wish! Great tasting food and loved the ambiance! Went for lunch (1pm) on a Sunday, and the place was packed! There were musicians practicing in the courtyard out front, too ❤️

Lovely location that has room for large Mexican families. Bright colors and would be a good birthday celebration spot. Food was good but meat quality was only okay. Great parking that is easy to park. Large tubs of beans and or rice can be had for about $10 (maybe 32 oz?)

Loved the food, first Mexican place I've liked since moving up North. Everything around here has had marinara tasting salsa, and food not up to par. This place was the bomb, you gotta try it out. (Context: there's a lot more good Spanish restaurants up here, but the Mexican is just slacking.)

No frills restaurant with EXCELLENT authentic Mexican cuisine. I came early on cinco de mayo & just as we were leaving noticed the dinner crowd so it does seem like a popular spot. They have some bar seating & a few tables, but also saw people picking up food to go. I was a little nervous walking in that they wouldn’t meet my expectations, but they were definitely exceeded & I can’t wait to try them again!

Love their tacos, I think they’re right in point with the prices and my wife adores the tostadas, we mostly order take out from there. Their tacos are really good, I have tried the nachos and really like them with chicken, The service is really good and personable.
