Haven’t been to a hibachi restaurant since I was a kid so it was a cool experience!

Always love coming here. It is one of our special occasion spots. The chefs are friendly and entertaining while maintaining professionalism. Great for kids of all ages.

It was great as usual, our Chef was not as entertaining as our past Chefs, nor was his cooking skills. Our food was wonderful, however we all ordered our Steak Med-rare and there was No pink at all, the chickèn was chewing.

Excellent! Our bartender/waitress Margie was outstanding tonight. She made us feel great, and what a delightful evening! Margie, I hope that when we come to Nakashima of Japan, she is working then too! Thank you!

I've had sushi all over the world, including Japan, and have only been to a handful of places that match the superior quality of Nakashima. From hot towels to bluefin on the menu. Wow. I tipped 50%. It's that good.

Our server Grace is the best. Every time we come to dine, we are thrilled when she has our table. Her drink recommendations are on point.

Everything was good. The Chilean sea bass was amazing.

I recommend sushi in Appleton. It goes well with draft beer.

It was kind of weird that it was my birthday and that sang to the lady across the table who had a birthday the NEXT week. But, all over good food.

Always nothing but the best in every category! Our favorite place to go in Appleton!

Service was exceptional, as were the craft drinks. The food was good, but the chicken and shrimp were a bit over cooked. The chef was very entertaining.

Food was great, chef was good, but ours had small flames compared to the other tables in the dining room. Server was a little pushy, got the idea that we were being rushed out the door (despite there being open tables). She tried to take our order minutes after sitting down, and take our plates of food to box it up, while we were still actively eating. But flavors and portions were great, would return!

Excellent food and staff. Best hibachi chef we've had in a long time. Sushi roll, katsu, and hibachi were all amazing. Despite being very busy my group of two was seated before I even finished my beverage.

The experience was great. Except for when I got hit with a saucy shrimp tail that stained the white shirt I was wearing.

Food was blah. Fillet was way over cooked as were scallops. I know you are paying for the show but the food should be the star of it for the price.

My husband and I came for a dinner date night and I ordered a dynamite roll. The waitress later brought me the wrong roll. I quickly noticed that it was the wrong one and I asked about getting the right one. She told me that I had ordered the firecracker roll which I didn’t even know was a roll. After speaking to her manager about it, she came back and said that they wouldn’t be able to return the roll and they would instead give me 30% off of the roll instead of swapping it out. I was very upset with the customer service handled by both the waitress and the manager as I dined here before and have never received this kind of service. For an $8 roll, I would have thought they would’ve just corrected it instead of thinking I misspoke. Every time I’ve ever eaten there, I ALWAYS order the dynamite roll, so I don’t believe I said the wrong order, the waitress heard the wrong one and assume right away it was me that misspoke.

Quite busy but it was worth the wait. Waitress a bit unfriendly and inattentive.

Kind of disappointed with my last experience.. ALWAYS LOVED attending nakashema for any family event, in this case my birthday last Wednesday 3/27. My boyfriend and I Sat down fairly quickly at our table along with another family and there 5 kids. The show was fun and drinks were awesome along with the food. However, we had ordered 2 sides of the fried rice with our meals as it is our favorite part and we wanted to make sure we had enough! Well for some reason the chef decided to start serving the meals on the kids side, and end on my side (witch is no big deal to me what order they serve in) BUT PLEASE TELL ME WHY WE WERE SERVED LESS PORTIONS OF EVERYTHING THEN THE KIDS WHO HAD ORDERED KIDS MEALS. 4 pieces of chicken and steak and the dad and mom decided to shared there fried rice with there kids so we were left with not even a half of a spatula full of rice when they got to us. On top of that maybe 5 bites of veggies each. I was pretty upset but it was my birthday so I decided not to say anything to ensure I had a good night. However, at the end of the meal, the couple and there 5 kids couldn’t help but announce they’re bill out loud witch was 230$ exact not to mention the dad had multiple shots and the mom 2 glasses of wine, they were so happy with the price of the meal and the amount of food everyone was served, and on the other side of the table was my boyfriend and I. Stuck with a 160$ bill for 2 People and 2 bevrages. Not satisfied.

By far the best place to go for hibachi in the fox valley. Our chef tonight, Miguel, made the best hibachi meal we’ve ever had. In addition to being funny and friendly.

I love this place! We ordered sushi. Our server was very attentive but still gave us privacy, and even let us move when a better table became available. I love the atmosphere of this place, and it's always a highlight when I get to come here. We really enjoyed the spicy shrimp tempura roll, the dragon roll, the tiger roll, and the green turtle roll. Can't wait to come back!

Our chef and our food was absolutely fantastic, only reason not 5 stars is our waitress took forever to get our drinks, she seemed very preoccupied and then never brought our change back and just assumed it was a tip.

This was one of the worst Hibachi restaurants we’ve ever been too. To start off they don’t serve the noodles, don’t have the yum yum sauce, and let’s just say the cook didn’t season the food at all. The sushi was ok but nothing I’ll come back to. The shrimp tempura appetizer was cooked very soft and looked as if it was half done. Also the cook’s performance was not entertaining at all. Being from Chicago the Hibachi Restaurants set the bar so high there that you know what to expect. The only thing I like was the strawberry lemonade. Overall I will not be going back, don’t recommend this place, and if it’s your first time having Hibachi please go elsewhere to get the real experience.

I've been coming to nakashima's for 25+years. And never have I been served fried rice in a clump. By clump I mean 5 servings on the fryer, flipped once and soy or teriyaki put on and flipped again and separated into 5 servings and served....i could have made that at home. And got the same poor reviews. Most people go out to eat because they like the flavor of food there being served the servings were not what a person would think . Minion serving was very small. Hardly got any lobster.. for the $130 is spent.. I gotta say it was not worth it. I get it costs goes up , but customers satisfaction should also. I don't think I'll ever come back

I've been going since I was a young boy. I'm biased, its my favorite sushi and hibachi restaurant. I regularly get sushi to go, and eat hibachi as a celebration meal through each year. They are polite, professional, and delicious. I encourage everyone to try them once.

We tried to go on a weeknight for our dad’s birthday. They don’t open until 5:00. We have young kids so we tried to make reservations, called 3 times and never got through on the phone. We got there at 4:45 and had to wait outside for the location to open. We were the first ones there. When they opened the doors at 5:00 we went in to the hostess stand and said we had 6 people. They told us it would be a 45 min wait. Which I guess I don’t understand because you should be able to walk into a restaurant the SECOND they open and be able to be seated. They told us all tables are being used for reservations which also made no sense because we couldn’t get through to even make one. We ended up leaving because we didn’t have the time to wait with young kids. Very disappointing.

We’ve been making the almost hour drive here almost every month for years.The sushi is by far the best sushi we’ve ever had. Tonight we came for my birthday with my family and Savannah went above and beyond to make us feel welcome on an absolutely slammed night… she is an gem! I’m not sure how much she’s getting paid but she deserves a raise. Thanks for always providing amazing sushi and for the phenomenal service!

This is not just dinner. It's an experience. It's fun, exciting, excellent chefs and excellent food. There are many laughs. There is a large bar for socializing and waiting for your group or for a table. The women's room also had bidets, they are wonderful! Cost is about $40 per person in the end.

Sushi was delicious! The fried rice was delicious. Service was great! I will be coming back.

The meal took about two hours to finish from the time we were seated but most of that time was waiting for the next step of the process to begin. For example, after the dishes were cleared, we all waited for about 20 minutes for the sherbet to come out. Then they wouldn't bring anyone's check until after everyone was done with dessert so the folks that didn't get dessert still couldn't pay and leave until the entire table had finished (about 40 minutes)

Food is always amazing, staff is friendly and great at their jobs. I wish the owner would put a little more effort into appearance, particularly considering what you pay for a meal. We had a 1.5-hour wait for a table so we sat in the bar room to kill some time; multiple chairs had cracks/holes in the upholstery, some unattended to and others that just had black tape over the damage. Between the bar and our dinner, we spent $180+ for 2 people including tips for both the bartender and waitress/cook; I don't think it's that unrealistic to expect decent chairs for that kind of money being spent there by the amount of patrons they have.

First time here. Very large, nice layout and decor, good service. Food is good. My only disappointment was that they limit food choices a bit. They only serve hibachi or sushi. And don't offer more options if you are not eating hibachi. Like noodles, teriyaki, or bento box type of food are not available like you may be familiar with other places. A few appetizers, sides and sushi. They do have fish options but they are served alone and not plated with other items to help make the meal feel filling. I just recommend viewing the menu first. If you are looking for sushi or hibachi this place is great. 👍

Great place! Expect a wait but well worth it. We got dinner for 2 angus steak, shrimp, chicken was excellent. Kiddo got chicken & loved. Daughter loved the bathroom with bidet so much so we’re getting one for home! 🤣

The food was good like usual and our chef Miguel was great but the reason for the 3 star service is for the server. She was nice but kept bumping into everything. She'd slam down a glass and it would clink into another glass and spill a little etc. Slamming things carelessly onto the table happened the entire duration of our meal. I understand it's extremely busy but our whole table noticed.

I really enjoyed myself as so did, my friends. It was a fun time, definitely coming back!! The service was great, and the food was fantastic!!

Everything is always amazing when we go here. I am from Florida and continue to make a special trip to Appleton or Green Bay when I visit. The service is a 10, sushi and hibachi is amazing, and the atmosphere is super clean and fun! We took a group of 8 and it was fantastic!

This place is always packed but well worth the wait! Excellent food prepared at the table. Loved the onion volcano! Staff is wonderful and goes above and beyond. I would suggest the dinner for two. Soup, salad, main course, and desert included! Great portion at a reasonable price. Will definitely be back.

Went here because the Christmas parade was starting soon. Food was just as great. Service was wonderful. I only wished I would have asked to eat in bar area. The sushi bar seating is really tight.

It's been years, but I miss the days when your dining experience felt more leisurely. You'd finish your soup or salad before the other came out. The food is typically delicious, but our salads this time around were barely anything. The lettuce just covered the bottom of the bowls. Wonderful staff and amazing plum wine. The wait on a weekend is always long, but it's fine if you can find a seat in the bar.

We love Nakashimas.. never had a problem before. But this time.. we paid over $100 and got little portions. We did hibachi and the chef did not portion out the meals evenly.. we were at the end of the table and the chef started with HUGE portions at first at the opposite side of the table and by the time he got to us.. he ran out. We got way less meat, veggies, rice, everything. It was not fair, especially for the price we paid. You could tell the chef was young and new.. very disappointed. Wish we got refunded for some because we barely got enough dinner. The people across from us had beyond enough portions to even take home. Our plates weren’t even full. Very sad.

Everything was awesome. The kimchi was really good. Definitely recommend trying kimchi if you have never tried it. Also recommend salmon tartare. Definitely will be back.

The decor is outstanding. It's a very beautiful restaurant. The meat was cooked perfectly in every case. It'd be nice if their veggies had more than just onions and zucchini and if they used some teriyaki instead of just soy sauce. Other than that, great!

The food and the atmosphere were great. They were very busy, but they got us in quickly. we didn't have too long of a weight. It was like dinner and a show. The chef prepares your food in front of you and entertains you with conversation and tricks. Dinner for 2 will run you about $100.

I went for the first time and this place was awesome the food was delicious and I am not a fan of hibachi or sushi and this place was so good I highly recommend.

We celebrated Dad's birthday with hibachi. Super Long wait. The food was to die for. As usual. But I wouldn't bring a baby here again and don't come starving. Pack a granola bar.

Food was not great, the fried rice taste like the char from the flat top, the veggies , weren't a mix. It was basically an entire onion and about 4 small pieces of zucchini. The shrimp was awful, had a freezer burnt taste to it. Sushi wait was 40mins for a spice tuna roll that was mid. Luckily the chicken and steak were yummy. Only reason I gave 3 stars was because of the amazing customer service. Greeted as soon as I walked in, and our hibachi chef was excellent. Also hardly any ventilation in the restaurant, it was so humid and hot. Made it very uncomfortable to enjoy the experience. And I've been to multiple hibachi restaurants where I'm not sweating. So i can not blame the stove.

Great place for an entertaining meal. Food was amazing.

Food was delicious. All of the staff were super friendly and checked in often on our group. I loved the darkness of the restaurant because it really made you focus on the hibachi. The filet mignon was juicy and perfectly chewy, and all of the sides just added to the deliciousness of the meal. It may be pricy, but it is so worth it.

So last minute dinner stop. Very good service very good food. Chef was new but did a nice job. Always eating there.

Not sure of the name but it’s the second time we have had an issue with him. Starts with a C - he’s been there around 3-4 months. Always undercooks the seafood and has no idea how to cut a steak. He drops the spatulas constantly and had to ask us what the sauces were for because he forgot…..again. Normally I don’t write reviews but it’s $170 later and I have to go home and fire up the wok to cook our food. He hasn’t learned a thing in 3 months.

While the atmosphere is definitely amusing (almost feels like a museum), the food was a miss for me. Seriously, every menu item my sister and I had was off in one way or another. The miso soup was so salty that I poured a generous glug of hot water into each of our bowls from my tea kettle to even it out. (And usually she and I are salt fiends.) And speaking of which, I ordered a kettle of hot water with lemon wedges, and even that was unenjoyable. It tasted noticeably like tap water. Then the house salad with the famous ginger dressing was missing that balance of tangy and sweet. It tasted very strongly of lemon. It wasn't terrible, but it was not the classic dressing we expected. Next? The veggie tempura. Was a bit surprised to see a slice of red or russet potato in the mix instead of sweet potato. Was sort of odd to me, plus sweet potato was my favorite part of that dish so was disappointed. Also they included a tempura-fried jalapeño pepper as well which I mistook for green pepper. I'm lucky it wasn't a super hot pepper, but really think they should have noted this on the menu. Otherwise, I'm sure many others are in for a spicy surprise. My sis also ordered a side of fried rice which was probably the most off-putting to me of all. It looked delicious, but upon tasting it, the only flavor I picked up on was that of black pepper. Didn't taste like salt or buttery oil, or egg. Just tasted plain with black pepper. How can that be?! Was truly bizarre. The sushi roll went over well with my sis. Pretty much is what you'd expect: a mess of sauce, which I guess most people like. Fair enough. I was ecstatic to see they had butter fish/Escolar on the menu, but I made the mistake of getting the torched version and it just tasted and smelled like 'burnt' and torch fuel, which I've read is something that happens when you use a certain fuel vs another and/or use too much of the body of the torch flame vs the tip...anyway..just some nerdy stuff. Perhaps their hibachi is much better than their sushi, you know, apart from the soup, the salad and the fried rice...

Fun place! Tuna & salmon sashimi one of the most succulent I've ever had. If you want hibachi you cannot walk in as it is always booked reservations necessary. Sake selection is great and bottles are available to share. A little on the pricey side but that's to be expected. Awesome date night special occasion!

Excellent experience! Our first time here, and everyone was nice. We opt for hibachi and O.M.G. our chef was emasculate! He is our favorite by far any other habachi we have gone to. All thr other habachi chefs were amazing too! They interact with everyone 🙌 Would recommend others to come here.

Go get sushi and ask to have Eddie serve you. That man is amazing, great with service, stories and our kids.

Came out for my 40th birthday with my family. Had the best time! Great and fun atmosphere. Our waitress was not the friendliest but our hibachi cook Miguel really made up for it. He was fun and entertaining. He had everyone super engaged and was a fantastic chef!

This was our first time their. The food was amazing, but the show you get while they're cooking is out of this world! We had such a great time. We'll be back again!

Great hibachi restaurant with chicken, steak, and seafood options. The food was delicious and the chef was entertaining, it's a great place for a special occasion. Hibachi includes soup, salad, veggies, steamed rice, shrimp appetizer (3 shrimp), main course, bamboo shoots, oolong tea, and ice cream or sherbet.

Oh man what can I say about this restaurant. The staff is amazing and friendly. The service is prompt and quickly attentive. The chefs are wonderful and so talented. The food is always top notch and fresh. The show is wonderful. I never have bad things to say about this place. Bring an appetite and leave with extras.

This place was outstanding! Doesn't matter if you do hot or cold, they nail them both! Service was great. Food was amazing. Good luck not taking home some of your meal. Overall, the lighting in the place may have been a bit dark but I'd guess that might be intended to go along with the fireballs. And that is just my thoughts. I am sure others love the lighting. The atmosphere is great even with the lighting. We will 200% be back!

Our chef was amazing. Not over the top with the "show". He was engaging and most importantly, cooked the chicken, steak and shrimp to perfection!
