Exquisite! Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Loved the goat cheese souflette that accompanied our meals as well as the aperitif before the mains were served. Very nice touches, Oyster Bar! The dining area feels like you are eating in your own cozy living room with a gorgeous view of the bay. Very intimate setting and a great place for date night. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely phenomenal. We ordered raw oysters, the appetizer special salmon gravlax, baked oysters, local nettle gnocchi, and the wild boar special. Everything was perfect. We also ordered the pavlova and the chocolate truffle cake, both of which were divine. They recommend a hazelnut dessert wine to go with the truffle cake, but I liked the cake paired with a cappuccino better than with the wine. Our waitress was an absolute joy, she gave us some tips for eating raw oysters for the first time, helped us with wine pairings, etc. We had the privilege of sitting in the side-by-side booth, which was completely perfect for a romantic date night. We can’t wait to go again for our next celebratory dinner!! (The photos don’t show the full portions of the gravlax and baked oyster appetizer, we couldn’t help but start eating before snapping a photo!)

Top-notch restaurant! The freshest oysters(farmed just offshore), cured salmon on goat cheese horseradish, cod with olive-raisin tapenade, king salmon with mushrooms and pickled blueberries (!) — everything perfectly prepared and exquisitely delicious! On top of that you’ve got the perfect location overlooking the water and San Juan Islands and the most lovely and considerate waitstaff! Thank you!!

We didn’t plan to go here, but it ended up being a bright spot in our awful evening. After a beautiful hike up Oyster Dome, we come back to the trail head to see my friend’s car has been totaled in an accident involving two other vehicles. Devastated, being told it would be over two hours for a two truck to bring us back to Seattle, we needed shelter. So we walked over to the closest restaurant we could find, The Oyster Bar. We immediately realized how out of place we were in our stinky, post-hike clothing. It was such a beautiful dining area with candlelit tables and a gorgeous waterfront view. We told them our situation, as we felt like we needed to explain why a couple of smelly hiking gremlins were there while everyone else was dressed to the nines. They were so quick to bring us phone chargers, delicious drinks and bread and periodically check up on us to make sure everything was okay. The table agreed it was some of the best gnocchi and cheesecake we ever had. Thank you for letting us crash your lovely establishment in our time of need!

I was craving oysters, they did not disappoint, great selection. I am a fresh oyster snob and I love smalls and extra smalls. I ordered the Shigoku, the Judd’s Cove and the Kumomoto. Beyond fresh and so sweet. Perfect texture, sweet salty taste and their sauce complimented the flavors, but I am still Marie Sharps hot sauces & lemon fan. Their endive fig salad was delectable, the Washington Mushroom appetizer was rich and delish. The view and sunset incredible. The server was so sweet and knew her menu. My first 5☆ review ever 🙌🏻 If it helps adding credibility to my review, I'm a French lad, who lived in Asia for 4 years and now 2 in Canada. I know food for all over the world and French are notoriously annoying (rightfully?😜) when it comes to food haha. So if a French customer is satisfied, you can book a table blindly! Jokes aside though, this was absolutely amazing and I found this place completely by chance. I have stopped expecting breathtaking food in Vancouver but this is just what I got here: - the tastiest mussels (with just the right ocean taste and soft texture) coupled with masterful broth (I ordered bread again just to fully enjoy it and "saucer" as we say back home) - incredibly soft Ahi tuna, with a tasty thin crust of spices and an amazing mediterranean sauce that blew me away although I ate that same dish many times - delicate and "accurate-tasting" oysters with different flavor profiles Alright this is starting to be too long of a review but I have 2 special notes: - amazing staff, not pushy and not solely interested in tips rather than proper service (hello Vancouver) - the view...i mean...just look at the pictures If anyone either staff or owner reads this, I don't know where life will lead you and if you will stay in this field, but know this: you've done wonders in your respective areas and you can all be proud of it 🤗 Cheers - The French Lad

Nice place and menu. We came in and were asked if we had reservations just before 4. We felt like the hostess didn’t want us there when we said we were interested in appetizers and a drink. The place had 3 tables working and reduced to 1 when we left. We were sat in the corner window table with the sun beating on us our whole visit. It was obvious to staff we had difficulties but it wasn’t addressed until a male staff member went outside to roll down shades just as we finished up. We may not have been your regular spenders but we did spend 75$ on delicious but tiny portions.

We stopped in for a late lunch (2:30pm) and were promptly seated at a nice table, by the windows, with spectacular views to, and across, Samish Bay and several of the San Juan Islands. Had we arrived an hour earlier I suspect there would've been a wait, and this was on a Wednesday. We had a dozen fresh oysters, served with an interesting and unique type of mignonette in the style of a granita. We had fresh warm rolls with butter, and we had a large seafood salad and a seasonal greens salad. All this was more than enough food for two people. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass, as well as a considerable and well curated wine list by the bottle. The service and overall ambiance was impeccable. We will return. All of this is not inexpensive, but, more importantly, it IS excellent value.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner here. We have been before and love the atmosphere, and how quaint and cozy the restaurant is. The food is simply delicious and each dish was amazing. My only complaint was five minutes after we were seated the waitress asked us if we were ready to place our dinner order. We said no we wanted to get some wine and have a moment. She brought the wine and then asked if we were ready to order again. We said no we wanted to have some time before we ordered. She came back again so we ordered the appetizer. She then came back again and said the entrées take a while so we should order. We did and they were out very quickly. There was nobody coming in after us, and we spent a lot of money, and felt very rushed and very pressured to get our food order in. When you want fine dining, you should be able to take your time in the restaurant. That was very disappointing.

In my mind there are always 3 elements that create a dining experience: the food, the service and the atmosphere. Here all three come together for a truly enjoyable experience! The views of the bay, Orcas and San Juan islands and oyster farms are mesmerizing. The interior is a blend of rustic and upscale. Positioned on several levels, tables are cozy yet with a penchant for quality (2 forks, 2 knives, 2 wine glasses etc..) The staff is unobtrusive and helpful with the menu. The background music is a delectable playlist of French and Island styles. The food though, is absolutely worth the trip. A large, very fresh oyster menu. Other dishes are full of interesting mixes of textures and spices. The prices quite reasonable for this level of cuisine. Inasmuch as Chuckunut road is worth the drive, this Oyster Bar (and Grill) is worth the stop!

The food was excellent! I have to say I haven't stopped thinking about the salad that I had there, it was incredible. I have left reviews for many many places and this salad is quite possibly the best I ever had! I have never said anything like that before about a salad. First of all, plan to spend at least $100 per person when you go here but it is well worth it. My wife and I went for our anniversary. The views were stunning looking over the islands and south to Anacortes. The service was amazing. Our waiter was knowledgeable about all aspects of the food and was very attentive to our needs. The food was amazing. We sampled every oyster that they had and it was really fun to see how different the varieties could be. It seems that they usually have 6 different varieties of oysters on hand. So if you like oysters, it's a great place to find what you're looking for. I also liked that they had some half-bottle selections for wine because that is about the most that my wife and I can drink on our own.

Why do two people who don't like raw oysters (slimy texture, overwhelming ocean flavor) go to The Oyster Bar? We figured if there was a place to really give oysters another chance, this would be it. Glad we did, because we did the gateway oyster dish, which is baked with cheese and crumbs: delicious and not chewy as per our expectation. We took the option of an extra oyster to bring the count to 4. Those who are top-level oyster eaters can choose from a large variety of oyster offerings. Other dishes like the asparagus and the fish were very well prepared. The only dish I thought was just okay was a special of the day crab brulee. The service is impeccable with efficiency and friendliness (shout out to Tristin for a lovely experience) and the view overlooking the oyster beds is spectacular, romantic and treehouse-esque cozy. Reservations are highly recommended, or get there when they open for a chance at a table.

This emperor has no clothes. At all. Objectively speaking, if you were to reeeally think about the quality of food you were getting, especially at that price, you’d have to wonder why anyone would eat there. Spectacular view, sure, but what else is there? Tired decor, reeks of old-school supper clubby vibes, with a clientele to match. The seared tuna was dry and tough, the crab cakes were also really dry which is unforgivable. The mashed potatoes were clearly reheated, or kept warm all day, and also stiff and dry. The mussels were a little lifeless in the broth area. I mean really…. If it’s good food you are looking for, this is not the place. I had wanted it to be good but it is reheated, mundane, and probably resting on some laurels of a bygone era. They got this schtick with their soufflé. It comes hot and is light in texture. If you HAVE to have a bland soufflé, I guess it’s okay. Oh and the service… very slow and not especially responsive. Took 10 minutes to get change back when we paid. Head down to Edison for good, honest food at a decent price and good service.

I’ve been coming to this place for decades and it never disappoints. Starting with the scenic drive down Chuckanut, it really sets the mood for the entire evening. The view from every table is fantastic but I do recommend asking to be seated by the windows if they have availability. Service has always been great and the food is really consistent. I typically focus on the specials to keep things interesting. Adding a lobster tail to the meal is something nice on occasion as well! Their wine list is undoubtedly the best I’ve seen in Whatcom or Skagit County and prices are surprising reasonable. If you know your stuff, there are some rare and vintage bottles sold near retail prices! Oyster bar has been a special establishment in the area for a long time and is a great choice for celebrations, romantic dinners or even a spontaneous night out after a hike on Blanchard Mountain or one of Chuckanut’s many beautiful hikes. The food is top notch. The view is top notch. The staff is top notch. An amazing experience. I had the best time watching the look on my 13 yr old son's face as he tried everything. He was 100% blown away.

Wonderful service from wait staff, well prepared meal from the chief (and kitchen), great food and wine. Sat outside and enjoyed the warm touch of the westering sun. What a lovely and special evening, to celebrate our forty-fifth wedding anniversary. Cheers.

It is always a truly wonderful experience! I have taken out of town guests here 3 times now for dinner or lunch & it's always a memorable experience for them. I so enjoy the view from my favorite tables outside.
