Rather disappointing. The fried oysters didn't even taste like oysters. They were not good. The entrees lacked the robust flavors you would normally find in Louisiana cajun food. Portions are huge. The chocolate bread pudding was fabulous. Service was slow but very friendly. I can now say we tried it, but we won't be returning.

Can y'all stop using the phrase "spot on" and just say the choice of food works?

Papa's is by far our absolute favorite special occasion restaurant!! If you are reading reviews thinking about coming here, 100% recommend it, you will not be disappointed!! Our most recent meal here was Mother's Day and it was 10/10 as always!! Make sure to bring cash though, no credit cards here! Etoufee is my all-time fave but whatever dish you decide to get l, be sure to add a piece of redfish. It is unreal, best fish I've ever eaten in my whole life!!!

Definitely the best Cajun food in Tennessee Reservation only so plan ahead but damn this was worth every penny. Massive portions and you have to try the beignets. They’re a little different than at cafe DuMond but they’re even better imo.

The food and service is always too notch. Call and make a reservation and you won't be disappointed. Cash only and BYO Beer and Wine (no liquor by law). It's one of those amazing hole in the wall places that will knock your socks off. Oh, and add the redfish to your meal ...just do it!

This is the best place to take friends who aren't from around here. The owner has a heart of gold. The food is bountiful and glorious. If you don't enjoy this place and have fun then you are dead inside.

My wife and I dined at Papa's for the first time this past weekend. The place is almost the epitome of a hole in the wall restaurant and off the main drag. There were 6 total tables, all set up for that night's reservations. Service was friendly but would have hoped for a more personal experience given we were the only table there for the first 30 minutes. They were incredibly stingy with the bread. Two tiny pieces and no offer or ask if we wanted more. The star of the show here is the food. Wow, we absolutely loved everything we ate, and cannot wait to go back and try new things. The portions are large, and for how dang good the food is, makes the prices feel 100% worth it. Take cash and call-in advance to get your name on the list. Killer place that I imagine the tourists and transplants wont flock to as its way outta the way, but for those of us who know our way around and don't mind a country drive, this place is hard to beat.

The fried oysters were spot on, and the freshly made beignets were amazing. The crawfish and shrimp were pretty fresh surprisingly and etoufee was good but on the bland side and needed to add creole spice. Papa's was as wonderful as everyone described. First off, having the long trip out of the city was actually a really nice part of our experience. Staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. They appeared to be wearing masks for the most part except for a man who appeared to be the chef or owner. That was a downer. I wish he were a bit more responsible and be a better example to his staff. Restaurants have to shut down a lot nowadays when multiple employees get sick, so why be so irresponsible with your business and why show complete disregard for the needs of a lot of your customers who want to feel safe when buying your food?? Other than that, I felt they were doing the best they could in this pandemic and I like to support local businesses and the hard working server who WAS wearing her mask and trying her best. Also, they have lots maskless customers showing up and that's tough since people who refuse to wear masks are often total jerks about it. Their dining room is tiny, so I would forget about eating in until after the pandemic is over. They require a mask to enter, but then you can take it off once seated which makes it pointless in such a crowded space. I would stick with outdoor dining which is very nice or takeout for the time being. The drive out is really beautiful and there are a lot of back road routes you can take. This is our second visit to Papa Boudreaux's and I have to say that it was probably better than the first and we thought the first time was fantastic. I had a couple of gumbo for starters that was absolutely fantastic. My wife had the shrimp etouffee and I have the special of the day which was St Jacques. This was pasta with shrimp and crawfish with a cream sauce and a breaded red fish. The red fish was very moist tender and delicious. To look at this place from the outside you wouldn't expect much and I have to say even from the inside judging from appearances but the food is simply outstanding. One note they do not take plastic so bring cash or a check. Yep this is one of the few places that still take your check. Can't wait for our next visit oh and you gotta try the beignets! This place is hands down awesome. I’ve been here a couple times and this time was as wonderful as any. The staff took really good care of our table and made sure we had what we needed.
