Duck fried rice with curry was delicious! A little bit spicy but mild enough. Definitely a memorable dish that I definitely recommend to try if you come here. We were not fan of the Vietnamese crepe and it came a bit burned. Service was very good and kind.

There's a lot of amazing restaurants in Anchorage, and this is not one of them! We ordered chicken pad thai and chicken fried rice that was not eatable. We won't be coming back.

This is a small but beautiful place. It may be old, but its charm is part of the experience.

We ordered the sweet & sour chicken, fried rice and spicy beef. The sweet & sour chicken wasn’t your normal sweet & sour chicken that’s fried and comes with the sweet & sour sauce on top. Which was totally fine, because it turned out to be really good! It did catch me a bit off guard lol. Spicy beef was so so delicious and the spice level was just PERFECT! The fried rice was amazing as well and paired well with everything we ordered. Only downfall is that the parking is tight.

Outside of the restaurant looks kinda scary and old and out of date and maybe struggling to survive. The inside is cluttered and busy like a place that's been around a long time and too busy and successful to spend much time decluttering. The place was really a great surprise. We just had takeout, but the place was super busy. The staff seemed freindly and super efficient. The food was excellent.

Was disappointed that you couldn’t get a glass of wine or beer with our meal. Pho was just ok, broth was tasteless.

Really great food, place is known mostly by locals, and was packed when we were there. Their parking is limited in front of the restaurant, they have more parking around the back across the street to the right.

The Banh mi is made with deli meat?? never seen that before. I would go back and try something else. Good service

The 2 curry dishes were good but the pad thai was burnt, spring rolls were ok ... the dipping sauce was watery. Won't order pad thai again.

The best Vietnamese food in town! The customer service & food is great! Absolutely speedy at getting your food out and the spicy lamb is great! The last two times I will say has been a miss as it's been chewy but the flavor is on point and next time we go hopefully that subsides😊

The food was good. Service was good. I've just had better. I got the chicken pho, and there wasn't a lot of chicken in it. My husband got the seafood curry. The taste was okay, but it was creamier than he would have liked, and it had no spice. The rice was really good. Our appetizer was the fresh pork spring roll. I liked it. It was probably my favorite part. But my husband wasn't a fan. But he doesn't like peanut sauce.

Our family loves Ray's place. Their family takes care of you like you're family. The hours and parking can be somewhat daunting but it's worth it. This place is frequently packed and you'll see why after your first meal. Will be a lifetime guest in their restaurant! Go if you haven't and keep going!

Honestly I love this place so much, but every single time I try to call the number listed 279-2932 it says it is unavailable. I call like 4 times a week just hoping it works so I dont to drive and wait

Stopped in at Ray's Place for a late dinner and was just amazed at how good the food there was. We got shrimp curry, the Alaskan Halibut and Spring Rolls. Everything tasted great and all the employees were friendly and quick. The atmosphere was also very friendly with everybody walking around in smiles. The food was so good that we were also able to meet the owners who were extremely friendly and easy to talk with. We're only in Anchorage for a week and the front desk person recommended Ray's Place to us and we're so happy we took that recommendation. We liked the food so much that we're planning on heading over there again before our trip is over. Definitely a spot to hit if you're in town for the day, weekend or week!

Ray's cold noodle salad always the win! :D Update: If you are among the many who have switched to a plant-based diet and found restaurant options hopelessly disappointing, you may find a ray of sunlight at Ray's. They will make special adjustments to their dishes to make them vegan (if they aren't already) -- in fact, their menu specifies, in writing (!) to please let them know if you wish for no animal products and they will accommodate you.

Seated with 30 minutes left of service, told we couldn’t have any regular pho spot table sauces besides sriracha even know they were on other tables, staff was very short and in a rush, but somehow in comparison to most pho spots it took longer to get bowls out. Asked if we could wanted to go containers 10 minutes into eating our meal. Broth was solid, meat portions were weak. Overall big time let down.

I sure can't see why this place has good ratings.. The great people of Anchorage should have a chance to experience good Vietnamese food. - Beef Pho - broth was watered down, you should be able to see some 'fat' floating in it.. none - This is what we call Fast Food Pho.. Flavor was also.. 'watered down'.. -- too many noodles, not enough meat.. I know times are hard these days but you could put in more than 5 small slices of meat. -- Service --- OMG, the place wasn't that busy.. if you are in a bad mood .. stay home.. don't be rude to the customers.. I have been eating Vietnamese food all over the world including Vietnam.. This is one of worst I have ever eaten.. save your money..

Showed up for lunch, even though they were busy, staff made us feel welcome and valued. We took the advice of our server on what to order and she was right. Had spicy cashew chicken, pork spring rolls and halibut Vietnamese style, would order all of it again or what ever the server said we should. Thanks for an amazing lunch.

Best vietnamese cuisine we've had! This is a step beyond the trendy Pho places popping up everywhere. Each dish is made with fresh quality ingredients while grounded with authentic Vietnamese flavors. Would highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner.

As someone with high standards for pho, the authenticity and quality of the pho here really went above my expectations... Did not expect such a good meal in Anchorage! The service was also very good!!

A Spenard institution for as long as I can remember. Consistently delectable cuisine, fresh steamed vegetables and a truly family feeling amongst the crew. A fantastic dinner experience.

Popular without curb appeal, so you know people come for the food and feeling. Service was fast and friendly. We got pork fresh rolls, banh mi and the Vietnamese crepe. All very tasty. Looks like it hasn't changed in 40 years. Our first time but we'll be back!

I was in town for business and wanted Pho. I had tried anonther Pho place in Anchorage and it was ok but wanted to try another so Ray's place it was. We have many great Pho places where I come from so I am always on the look out for Pho when I am traveling. I will agree with the other reviews that mention the Pho / broth being watered down and not very tasty. There is limited selection on the meats, and the service was not very good. I don't know how their other dishes are so I cannot coment on those.

Fast service, clean environment, and nice staffs. The food tastes so good. Definitely worth the trip to this restaurant

Food & service are BOTH excellent!!! The dining area seems to need a deep cleaning & possibly fresh paint, or something??? We sure wished they served both wine/alcohol AND dessert!!! But in spite of no dessert or alcoholic drink options, the food is absolutely delicious!!! Everything on the menu seemed reasonably priced!

Eating here made me sad. Sad that I'll be leaving Anchorage in a few days and might not be able to have another bahn mi from Rays! Holy cow. The best sandwich I've ever had. Definitely recommend!

Always closed. Hours posted are not accurate. They did have really good curry the one time they were actually open at the same time I was driving by. Was really hoping to take my boyfriend there during his trip. We wanted to visit the diners drive-ins and dives made famous in Alaska. Unfortunately when we got there at 7pm they were closed 😥 thank goodness Pho Lena, just down the road was open. Pho Lena has some phenomenal pho and curry. Mmm 🤤 😋

Comfortable place and such kind, down-to-earth service. The flavors in the curry I had were unique and appreciated.

Was told by a local online that I had to come here and try their ginger halibut, I decided to try the salmon variant instead. Their ginger salmon was SOOOOO good. Was the perfect meal to end my day with. The staff were super cool and even gave me suggestions for what to try should I ever return. And I WILL be returning!

If you like to eat Vietnamese food, you need to eat at Ray's Place. This time, I had the Spicy Duck Curry and my wife had the Lamb Noodle Curry. Two Yums-Up for both!

I have been here several times throughout the years and have never had a bad experience. They are one of the restaurants that I frequented for take-out during COVID closures to make sure they weren't going anywhere. The service is almost as good as their food, which is amazing! If you are unsure what to order, definitely get the spring rolls!

We’re visiting from Boston - the Bahn Mi was soooo good! And the pho was amazing! So flavorful and the meat was so tender and delicious- the staff is friendly and service is quick. Highly recommend!

Love the Vietnamese food there. I usually order the large chicken noodle soup. Not ashamed to finish the soup with both hands to my face and slurp the tasty soup. :D Nice atmosphere. But busy during lunch time. Can order take out. I and friends dine in and take our time eating, discussing issues.

I had guests in town hankering for Vietnamese Food. Both are vegetarian (no fish sauce) and Ray's delivered!! I ordered the beef saute noodles and the ordered the Bahn mi (with Tofu) and the egg veggie crepe. The Bahn mi was so good they had to order a second one. The atmosphere was great and quiet so our group could actually chat. The parking lot is a little on the small side and could be bigger because this place can really sling the Vietnamese dishes. Wha a great place to bring guests. I have had take out from Ray's but I think eating in the actual place is so much better.

Super bummed . The broth on the beef pho was water with no flavor and the meat was pretty bad. I hate writing bad reviews truly but this was super disappointing. Pho is supposed to be a rich bone broth and I’m sick so really wanted some nutrition. The egg rolls were not good either .

They are awesome & sooo delicious every time I get food from them! I really recommend them! Their customer service is very good as well so that makes it a lot better!

This came highly recommend, specifically the curry halibut. Portion sizes were better than okay. I was expecting something much different with the curry halibut- no coconut milk with the curry. Instead it was deep fried halibut and an oily yellow curry sauce. Taste was very nice, but the grease didn’t sit in my stomach well. My boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken, which he was very excited about because I make something similar at home. While the chicken and vegetables were better than good, the sauce was like they literally just poured a bottle of teriyaki sauce over it after cooking, so the meal was sitting in a pool of it- strange and again, didn’t sit well. Also, the fresh spring rolls were more than a day old and just plain gross and lacking the cilantro and mint that tends to make the rolls aromatic and “fresh”. I wanted to order a bahn mi, but the sticker shock…I just couldn’t do it- bahn mi is half the price in the rest of the world.

Vietnamese crepe/pancake!!!!!!! Super duper gooooood And you must try that baked mussels, you won't regret it. We also had duck fried rice with curry sauce. They serve iced Thai tea and Thai coffee here. Very neat place to eat with friends and family. Will visit again haha

I ordered the tofu vegetable curry with brown rice. It was delicious! Some of the best Asian food I’ve ever had!! It was fresh, hot, and a very generous portion. I will be ordering again soon. 🤩🤩. Also, very accommodating for vegan and vegetarian requests.

Very busy, pretty noisy, not enough seating. First trip there during a very busy lunch hour.Ordered lemon chicken & Thai iced tea. No where on the menu did it say that the dish was hot, not only cracked pepper but hot pepper flakes as well. Since I am sensitive to pepper flakes, I certainly did not enjoy the order, which looked fine, disbarring the red/black seasoning. Thank goodness for the Thai tea. Sat by myself at a table for 12 :(

Yummiest curry vegetables and soup.

If you're not eating at Ray's Place, you are doing a disservice to yourself. I struggle to choose between my two favorites every time I eat here: combination fried rice: no soggy bland rice here, only interesting flavors and textures. Or the spicy cashew chicken: little bit of jalapeno heat with cashews and the best stir fried veggies in town. Both dishes are so good that they get in the way of trying every single menu item because everything is amazing.

Was told this place had the best fried rice and I was sadly disappointed. It was ok, not much flavor and not much besides the actual rice. I also got the spicy chicken dish and it was small portions of chicken and lots of chewy pieces in it. I won't order again. Just not great

My favorite restaurant in Anchorage! I would recommend Ray’s to anyone under any circumstances. Love the family and love the food - my favorites include the curry tuna and the beef fried rice. Some days, I’ll just have some broth and it’ll still be just what I need. Can’t wait to go back when I’m in Anchorage again!

Got pho for lunch and they gave me a tiny bag of noodles. Waste of money and a disappointment..

One of my favorite restaurants in alaska, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu in my opinion. I try to eat here one a month.
