I tried the combination plate..ribs and chicken with coleslaw and potato salad 🤗🤗..the food was hot and fresh and not over seasoned or over cooked..Love the fact I didn't have to drive 20 minutes to get there 😅😅..overall experience..Great.

Amazing food and has been our go to for a while now. One of the few bbq places around here (pretty much all chains now) that isn’t overly priced especially with the amount of food you get.

Has lunch pretty good but I have a couple BBQ places in Tuscaloosa that is impossible to beat for me

I wanted to give a 5 🌟 rating concerning the food, but they were out of brisket. We arrived at around 11 AM. I settled with the large rib plate. The ribs had a great taste. For my liking, they were smoked longer than needed because the bone was falling out. I like mine bone in. Oooh, but they were soft to chew. I cook ribs at home that are soft but without falling apart. The cole slaw was yet to be desired. It could be better but to each there on. I brought my friend, sister, her boyfriend, and my niece. We all had a great time. We traveled about 1.5 hrs from Sardis, and they traveled an extra half hr since they came from Gadsden. Update: After reading the reply from the restaurant, I changed from a 4 🌟 to a 5 🌟concerning the food. I didn't know they served brisket only on Friday. We visited on a Saturday. This was my second visit. When we're able, we will continue to visit. RD's, in my opinion, is better than Big Bob Gibsons BBQ.

The combination platter that I had looked as thought someone had taken it out of the trash and put it in the tray. The Presentation was lacking, wish I had taken a picture of it. I'm still in disbelief of it being served. The side order of chicken wings weren't smoked but burnt and dry. I'm very disappointed and had to replace what was supposed to be dinner. Such a meal shouldn't have been allowed to leave your establishment. I've eaten from here before without issues. What happened?

I paid for 6 slabs for my birthday party and they are burnt. Totally overcooked. I cried and still crying because this was my main meat. I can’t even serve these,

It may not look like much, but it is one of the best barbecue joints in Madison. Great food at good prices.

Brisket - very dry (almost like jerky) and salty. Mac & chees - feels like leftover from my yesterday dinner. It was my first time and will be my last visit.

The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly the first time I ate there I had the chicken loaded potato and today was my second time I tried the Chicken loaded nachos.. The food is so much that two adults can eat it

Update 5/20/2024: It's still awesome! RD's rocks, that's the whole story. There's fire in that seasoning, and it's smoked to perfection. Even the spicy food haters will dive in, it just doesn't get better.

Best barbecue around, hands down!!

This was a great lunch experience. We took the advice of a local friend in the Huntsville area to check out RDs for a great BBQ experience. It did not disappoint. I knew when I saw it's old shack-like appearance that we were in for a treat. If we hadn't got the recommendation we would have missed it's small sign or scoffed at its appearance. We got one of everything I believe and liked it all. The ribs were especially good. Great pulled pork and brisket. Loved the sausage. I don't think anything missed. Definitely recommend.

Let's talk about ribs so tender they just fall off the bone! Hands down some of the best ribs I've ever had. The loaded baked potatoes are on point too. I have no complaints about this place. The lady who took my order was very polite and the wait time on my food was minimal. Thank you for the great service and food.

The barbecue was really good and worth the price. I got the family meal with mac&cheese and the apple cobbler and it all was good. The cheese was a little clumpy but the taste was definitely there! The customer service was great and it feels like a quaint small town barbecue shop. With what felt like everyone knowing each other; the atmosphere was nice.

Previously Cricket's had this title several years ago, but now, RD's has the best hot wings in town. The fried catfish is also really great.

We've been told this is the best bbq place in the area. We finally got around to getting here and we're not disappointed. We got the wings and a bottle of smack jaw sauce. The place looks like it can get crowded pretty quickly and there's not a lot of seating or parking. We ordered our food in advance and it was ready when we arrived.

This is your classic hole in the wall BBQ place. There is nothing fancy about it and there doesn't need to be! If you are in the harvest area, give it a try! It will not disappoint you! Priced well with no frills. The cashier was super friendly and welcoming. All in all, a good experience! I got a BBQ sandwich plate with fries and Mac and cheese. Very good! Sometimes a classic BBQ sandwich just hits good! The fries were fresh and perfect! The Mac and cheese was ok but it's just not my style of Mac and cheese. Nothing against it! My partner got the leg quarter plate with baked beans and potato salad. She said those were some of the best baked beans she's had. The chicken was fall off the bone and flavorful. The tea and lemonade were perfect. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

RD's puts out solid 'cue! Food comes up pretty quickly. Employees and patrons are friendly, plenty of chat while you wait.

Let me say this first, I've been eating here every since it opened. I've tried everything at least once. The smoked wings are The Truth! Every sauce is very good,but I prefer Bama Boi and I'm a Ohio State fan 😁. The loaded potatoes are very good and HUGE. Bigger, better than Lawler's and choice of shredded cheese or melted cheese. Ribs, chicken, turkey are great. The potato salad is delicious,baked beans as well. Very good home feeling atmosphere. Best smoked wings around. My latest go to meal is The Smokehouse sandwich with the spicy pickles and onions on it. Bruh... You will definitely go to sleep afterwards. By the way,the sweet tea is homemade. I'm going there today as I write this. See you there!!!

This place is awesome. Very authentic bbq and very good. The rubs are my personal favorite cause for the price, you get alot! The baked beans are also very good.

I ordered two loaded baked potatoes with pulled chicken for lunch today, and they were not fresh. The potatoes and chicken were both barely warm and the chicken didn’t have the flavor it usually does. This happened at dinner a few weeks ago. We figured they would be nice and hot for lunch, but they weren’t. The cheese wasn’t even melted.

They messed up and gave me pulled chicken instead of pulled pork and it was still extremely good. Macaroni just like grandma makes it.

I had a patient tell me about RD Smokehouse and their brisket. It did not disappoint. Their brisket was the best I have ever had and it is so sad they only serve it on Fridays and Saturdays.This place needs to be featured in Southern Living. Brisket, baked beans and slaw is my pick at RDSmokehouse

This is easily my favorite bbq place in Huntsville. The quality of food never disappoints, and the value you are getting is top notch. I can feed my family for $30-40 and generally we have leftovers from that. I really like the loaded potatoes, and they never skimp on the toppings.

Smoked chicken is great and the pulled pork plate is awesome also. Portions are filling and sides of coleslaw and green beans are excellent also. Take out was easy to place order and ready in 15 minutes! Will definitely order again....soon!

What an AMAZING find! The guys and I stopped for lunch and we were damn glad we did! The young lady at the register was attentive, pleasant, and extremely helpful....not to mention absolutely beautiful!!! The vibe was old school country offset by the digital menus at the register, reminding us it was 2024. The Q is out of this world! By far one of the BEST pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had. Get the Bamaboi sauce!!

This was one of the best pulled pork BBQ sandwiches I've ever had! The meat was moist and the sauce was dripping off 😋 I can't quit talking about how great the food was! Their sweet tea is also delicious. Their sauce was so delicious I bought a bottle to take home. I will definitely be going back 😍

EXCELLENT Food & Service. Just moved to the country (well can't say that anymore) was tired of driving back to city or the other side of the county. Googled BBQ near me. I read all the positive reviews. Was not disappointed. Hot & Fresh food. Homemade everything (not sure about fries and onion rings. 1/2 chicken plate & rib plates. My opinion, best around. Ordered ribs, chicken, beans and potato salad for a get together at my house. The food was absolutely outstanding... everyone raved about it.

I've been wanting to go for a while, stopped in tonight (Thursday) wanting the brisket and Catfish, I was sooo ready for these but got informed those items are Friday and Saturday only. 😭 Sad but not disappointed because so many other options! Ended up getting the rib plate, potato salad for my Mister (I have never like potato salad) and baked beans. But this potato salad is different 😋 it's so good! I also liked the ribs and beans. Food was delicious the lady that took my order was extremely nice, prices was not to bad!! Now I gotta go back for brisket. 🙂

Everything was fantastic. Can’t wait until we visit family again so we can eat here again. Food was delicious. Hush puppies were amazing. Sauces were great. Pulled chicken was quite good. Service was friendly and helpful, both over the phone and at the counter.

The lemon pepper wings, potato salad, white sauce are the best ever!!! We got a smoked turkey for thanksgiving from there, and it was so worth every penny!!!

Local BBQ house with good food. The done in area is very basic. I had the managers special which was a pork sandwich, slaw, 4 smoked wings, and fries. I would recommend changing fries for another side. Mine were very dry. The service was slow, but staffing seems to be an issue here like everywhere. So just be a little patient. They do a big carry out business especially on football days.

The food was well prepared and for tye most part hot when I got bavkbto the house some 2 miles away. I didn't check my order and did not receive the pork I ordered, but instead received Mac and cheese ?? Anyhow, I will go back as the ribs were great. Check your orders before leaving. Pricing is in line with other similar restaurants.

I'm new to the area, this place was highly recommended. So I decided to give it a try after reading several reviews. I'm glad I did! It's a quaint small spot, upon entering, the cashier was very warm & welcoming. She answered all my questions about the menu. I didn't feel rushes at all. The ribs, wings and loaded fries were fresh & delicious. I have enough leftovers to eat tomorrow as well. The place was clean & the smell of food was very inviting! If you like food freshly prepared, filling & worth your money I suggest giving this place a try at least once!

Best Barbecue sandwiches in town.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. It's a hole in the wall, but those places always have the best food. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and held its own with no sauce needed. The portions were great for the price and the staff was super friendly. I ordered the small rib plate and had more food than I could eat in one sitting. The tea was served sweet and refills were free. The nice woman running the front counter recommended the funnel cake fries for dessert and they did not disappoint. We went home with full bellies and enough leftovers to have another meal. Y'all are most certainly doing something right out here.

This place wis FANTASTIC!I stopped in today for the first BBQ I've had since getting back to the states after 4 years abroad and it did not disappoint. I will be a regular here for sure.

The wait was extremely long, the fish was salty, the ribs were tough, the apple cobbler was horrible, and the coleslaw had too much mayo in it. Will not be going back!

My opinion hasnt changed, but the menu has expanded. His wings and nachos are top rate also he has catfish, but i havent tried it. I saw 6 catfish plates go out while eating lunch, so i bet theyre great tio. RDs is the best. I love mom and pop places as a general rule and this one is a winner. Love the loaded potatoes and ribs (and nachos) especially. The managers special is enough to feed two. Everything I have tried.has been great, but those two are my favorites. RD's had to go up on his prices like everyone, but not as much as most places. Go try it for yourself.

RD’s has been recommended by several in my circle and I finally had a chance to go. I will say that I am very particular about the flavors that I like and RD’s, unfortunately is not my favorite. More on that in a moment, THE QUE IS REAL! RD can flat out smoke some meat. The flavor of his chicken and pulled pork was all through there with TENDERNESS and MOISTNESS also. I got the managers special(wings, pulled pork sandwich, side and drink). It was worth the price. I just did not like the way he seasons the wings or the flavor of the pork. There was something different about the wing flavor and the vinegariness of the pork was not my thing. But that smackjaw and bamaboi hot sauce are good and compliment it well. The sides I had were Jalapeño hush puppies, mac and cheese, fries, and peach cobbler. I would go back just for the sides, a bottle of that Bamaboi Fire sauce and that lemonade/tea. I also want to try his ribs and fish. I have a feeling that I’d like those. There were more delights on the menu but it was a HOT day so I’ll save those for my next trip. RD’s is a great establishment with delicious food and excellent service; I feel he deserves to be recognized with the BBQ greats of the 256.

Uh... Yum! The place doesn't look like much, but it's what's inside that counts. If you like smoked meats, come here, it's worth the drive. The young man manning the counter was very nice and helpful. He recommended the SmackJaw for the wings and I was Not disappointed (Move over Frank's Red Hot Granny because this sauce Is *actually* good on everything) and the BamaBoi on the side for the ribs (also good) as they are the 2 sauces made in house. Both the ribs and wings had beautiful smoke rings and flavors that they didn't need any sauce. I don't regret the sauce though because I dipped my onion rings (okay) and jalapeno hush puppies (good) in the sauce and it was great. The owner (and the man behind the magic) came out front for a second and chatted with me for a sec., it was very nice. I will definitely come here again.

First time eating here, ordered the loaded chicken baked potato. Thought it was pricey but was guaranteed by RD himself that I would be pleased or he would refund my money. Needless to say, that they will have my business. The potatoes are hugh.

RD went out of his way to accommodate my child who has a lot of food allergies. He’s a truly good man who cares about his customers and his business. I highly recommend. His food is phenomenal!
