Was sent the wrong food I never ordered almost 5 different times. Never received an apology, the manager gave a number of excuses on the reason why my order was wrong. The drinks were horrible just like the food. Could be better! New management is needed asap

KeV was the absolute best waiter! He went the extra mile. It's rare to find someone who goes above and beyond, but Kev did!

My boyfriend and I only live twenty minutes away from this gorgeous restaurant but had not yet heard of Restaurant 1796. We were immediately greeted by the staff and brought to our table which was beautifully decorated with gold decor to match the royal blue paint of the walls, in what I can only assume is their presidential room considering the black and white picture of President Lincoln. Our waitress, Taylor, was very knowledgeable on the menu and had wonderful recommendations on wines. Overall the food was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish and I have not had an experience such as this one in a very long time. We will most certainly be back next month, as this will be a regular outing for the both of us!

Such an awesome place! Amazing food! It was gorgeous inside and the service was unmatched! I recommend the French dip and the truffle fries! Brussel sprouts were so good!

Wow this place is out of this world good! It’s definitely not cheap but it’s the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. Every single thing we ate was perfection. I can’t wait to go back! That bread pudding is outstanding!

The prices are horribly expensive... cocktails are $15, beers are $7, dishes are over $40... meats are flame-burnt. I do not recommend this restaurant in Saint Francisville which is clearly overpriced!

Can’t wait to go back. Everything we ordered was incredible, the whole property is beautiful, and the service was outstanding. If I could redo my wedding, I would have it here. Also, for the area they had a decent amount of vegetarian options without needing modifications. About half the small plates and a few large plates, and not just salads.

A sophisticated cottage vibe with seriously elegant and delicious food. While traveling home from a work trip we decided to visit the famous Mrytles plantation and decided to get some brunch from the restaurant there.  What an unexpected treat. The atmosphere was that of a small cottage with the wood and open hearth in which they prepare many of their dishes. The service was excellent. The mimosas were truly bottomless with the glass never emptying due to the prompt service. The food was as exquisite as any restaurant I have ever been too. Everything we had was a flavor explosion that would be extremely hard to find a complaint for. A place you must try, and we are excited to return to.

This place is amazing! Started off with delicious cocktails and the mushrooms and brie dip. Followed by the red fish and duck. Everything wad so delicious and perfectly prepared. The server was super friendly and professional. The grounds of Myrtles and the restaurant itself our just beautiful. I highly recommend a dinner date night and a night tour of the plantation.

The bartender was awesome! We had the chance to meet the cook Clay coming to and from work. He was the friendliest, kindest, and most polite person I've met in a long time. I enjoyed the brief interaction and can tell he prides the service he provides. The food is amazing!

We are staying at The Myrtles Plantation so naturally we booked a dinner reservation at Restaurant 1796. After dining there I’d say unequivocally if we didn’t live 956 miles away from St. Francesville, we would certainly choose to dine there on a regular basis! My husband and I are older so frequently we share one entree, but then that allows us to sample 4 courses. Kev was our friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable server. He made some suggestions about the new menu. We were heading in the direction of the braised short ribs until the steak ordered by the guest sitting next to us was delivered, and the incredible aroma of the 16 oz. Ribeye wafted over as it was presented to him. I signaled to my husband to look over and check it out! He did and we instantly decided, we know the short ribs will certainly be delicious but we really needed to order the steak. And we weren’t sorry! We first ordered the bread service as an appetizer. It was a sliced baguette of the most delicious fresh sourdough bread served with an herbed goat cheese topped with hot honey and pickled red onions. Yum…worth every carb! Then we shared the strawberry salad with lemon poppyseed dressing. Fantastic! The steak arrived perfectly prepared and piping hot over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes, accompanied by bone marrow butter, which we immediately spread on top and bordelaise sauce. There are no salt and pepper shakers on the table…you won’t need them. The steak was perfectly seasoned, enhanced by the accompaniments and the result was a hit of heaven! For dessert we had a new addition to the menu which name I can’t remember but it is a flourless cake with almonds and hazelnut, a coffee scented cream in between the layers, edged with a chocolate ganache and served with crème anglaise and fresh blueberries! Oh my!!! Lastly and I should have said this first…I was served the best cocktail…margarita on the rocks made its Patron Silver. Very nice wine list too! So obviously I highly recommend Restaurant 1796 no matter how far you have to drive to get there!

Atmosphere was great, service was wonderful but food was a little too high priced for the quality.

We loved our dinner and dessert on our 41st Anniversary. Highly recommended. also loved the bar!

This was the second time I’ve been, the first was for Brunch maybe last year which was amazing and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I’ve seen the “Tuesday Steak Nights” posts on Facebook and finally had a chance to check it out. Absolutely everything was delicious! The bread, the strawberry salad, of course the hanger steak & Parmesan truffle fries, the ice cream cookie sandwich and the cocktails. The service was superb. The personal touch of picking out your own steak knife for your meal, as well as a fresh floating flower in my cocktail was fantastic presentation. Overall, I cannot express into words how amazing this restaurant is and highly recommend it for a high quality meal and service. Please go check out this hidden gem.

Fantastic experience. Great drinks, food, and service.

We recently dined at 1796 when our daughter graduated from LSU. It was a fantastic experience from the moment we set foot in the restaurant. The bartender artistically created wonderful and different drinks and the food was fantastic. We had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it. They treated our daughter very well based on her recent graduation including table sparklers paired with an amazing dessert tray!. We all agreed that the restaurant most definitely ranks in our top five of all time!

I went there with 3 others last Friday night. The best atmosphere, appetizers, entrees and desert. Most places rush you and your food is served on top of each other but here we was able to relax and enjoy the food and the people we were with. I highly suggest you reserve and have the best night

This restaurant has flavor, atmosphere, and (most importantly) personality. The food is amazing. I ordered the mushroom brie and the BBQ short ribs. The brie was an amazing blend of earthy, savory, and sweetness in a way that left me with absolute joy and a wonderful mouth feel. The BBQ short ribs are fall apart and everything I could have asked for in a meal. The risotto is undeniably the superstar of the dish. It is creamy and savory with a hint of acidity that I still cannot pinpoint. I will try to go back one more time to try their burger, because it is exicting to think about how it will be elevated. Also, the servers are wonderful people and kind conversationalist (when prompted by the patron). A rare trait in many restaurants today. The price is higher than one might be used to, but not higher than the quality served and the service rendered by an amazing staff. I can only wish that this treasure maintain its status in the St. Francisville community.

I can't say much because we didn't actually eat here. The atmosphere is great from what we saw. But they only take reservations and shut down from about 2 to 5ish. Which was when we finished our tour at the Myrtle's Plantation. It's located on the plantation property just feet from the main house.

We went here while staying at The Myrtles for my niece’s birthday. Gabby was our server and she was wonderful! We had the halibut special and it was so delicious. My niece got the filet and it was like butter. We got 3 desserts; chocolate crème brûlée, butterscotch pudding and bread pudding were all scrumptious. Highly recommended. We will be back for sure.

Great steak - had the special ‘Hanger or Butcher’ cut. Very flavorful and tender.

Our server Seth and the phenomanal food ( I mean really, the filet should have a warning label stating it will ruin all other filets) mixed with the best old fashion I've had in 5 years = Stellar experience!

Had the Thursday special, it was a hanger steak and duck fat fries. Steak was excellent and the fries were some of the best I'd ever had.

Great atmosphere! So much to do there between the Haunted Myrtles Plantation, the coffee shop and of course the restaurant! Food was great!

The decor was nice, music a bit loud for enjoyable conversation though. My dinner was very disappointing. I had the veal cutlet and it was full of gristle. I was very surprised at that. Expected quality, especially after hearing good things about the food, so I will try again. The wait staff was great, friendly and attentive.

Great food! But a couple of downsides: large group behind us who were very loud, my older grandparents couldn’t hear anything. Sever did not pick up on this and didn’t speak up for them to order. Asked for alternatives for asparagus and none were given. Wife and I ordered two drinks, 2nd round they were made completely different, almost like another bartender made them.

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was terrific. The cauliflower was my favorite.

The food and atmosphere is incredible at this restaurant. We had filet mignon, ribeye and two appetizers. The staff was amazing and the cooks were even more amazing. The only thing that I would mention is that if you don't ask for specific alcohol you will receive well drinks. Unfortunately I didn't catch on to that and ended up with a major headache the next day. The bartenders however, were very knowledgeable and ran an amazing bar. There are so many different options for beautiful cocktails.
