The best Chinese food and Hawaiian ice

Awesome food and service! Definitely not what you would expect. Never judge a boom by its cover!

I've been on the hunt for a good place for Thai Pineapple fried rice, so I've been wanting to try this location for awhile. Struck out on the fried rice , so My Daughter and I ordered takeout from here for lunch, and were quite surprised. The food was reasonably priced, and was very good. We also enjoyed the shaved Hawaiian Ice, my daughter ordered a snowball, and I ordered a Thai coffee Hawaiian Ice which was absolutely delicious!!! Don't let the appearance steer you away, give it a try. I know I will definitely be coming back.

I wish I took pictures. This Chinese joint is amazing. Great food, fair prices, excellent service. Hidden gem! They were so great with our large party too.

The food was great, Thia and Chinese, fried chicken and generous portions. The service was great, the menu had a lot to offer. I can't wait to try some of the other things on the menu, I've cream is available at the carry out.

Update: they are still the best of the best around! They're fried chicken takes 25-30 min bc they fry it fresh but it. is. worth. the. wait! BEST fried chicken! They have EXCELLENT quality food, fresh ingredients, and their fried rice is unbeatable! Friendly service, clean dining, large portions, and excellent food makes this my NUMBER ONE go to spot in York County for Chinese food. In the dozens of times eating here since they opened doors going on TEN years ago, I've NEVER waited longer than 15 minutes for food, whether dining in or ordering take out. I've heard a lot of bragging about the Chinese at Giant but it's so meh compared to River House! The Singapore Mei Fun, Royal Pad Thai, Teriyaki Beef, crab Rangoon, eggrolls, steamed dumplings, and Hunan Beef are all must haves! But their general tsos, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and all the other staples are very delicious, too! River House opened doors the same month I moved into the area. We tried them right away and never stopped. Even with increase in prices, it is 1000% worth the extra cost for fresh food! We have never once had a poor experience there and the staff has always been very accommodating of our weird requests and incredibly friendly!

Very cool restaurant. Chicken is delicious and worth the wait. Delicious Asian cuisine. Friendly and welcoming staff. Restaurant is clean. I haven't tried the shaved ice but it was very popular while I was waiting on my take out

What a find River House was! I love the Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry. I’ve brought several family members here as well and it has quickly become their go-to place for Asian food. My one family member who isn’t into Asian got the fried chicken and thought it was phenomenal as well. Couldn’t recommend them more.

We have dined here a half dozen times. A nice small town restaurant with seating for about 30 people. The food is a mix of Thi and Chinese with an ice cream shop on the other half of the property. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I have yet to have a dish I did not enjoy. Tonight we had Crab Rangoon, Garlic Chicken, and Kung Pao Delight.

This please is definitely authentic Chinese food the way it is supposed to be and taste, unlike mostly all of the Chinese restaurants around here. It's a little hole in the wall but the best Chinese food I have had in a very very long time. Service is just a bit slow, but I can assure you that it's worth the wait.

This is my first time here but I liked the food very much . I had Indonesian soup, it had bean sprout , angel hair and beef. My daughter had rice with broccoli and chicken.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time based on others’ reviews. I am picky about my Chinese food, and rarely eat it because I haven’t found a place that I like. My wife got the egg drop soup and she said it reminded her of a really good place in DC. I had the General Tsos and it had good spice and lots of sauce. We drove 45 minutes home after picking it up, and it was still hot when we got home.

They are always very nice and are never running behind regardless of how busy they are. The food is delicious, I have never been disappointed

The Pina Colada Hawaiian ice was fantastic. I ordered a small and it was huge. Good price for what you get. The fried chicken smelled great but we did not get any THIS TIME. Nice picnic tables to sit at.

Came back from a softball game and decided to get carry out. Order spring rolls, general tso, and beef fried rice. All of it was very average tasting. Must have been an off night for the cook.

We always get the soup and lo mein which are very good. If you're looking for traditional spice, definitely skip this place. The General Tso and curry dishes don't give the kick that you expect in Asian cuisine.

Such a cute place inside and out. We ordered chicken Lo mein, pad Thai, kung pao tofu, pu pu platter, and the donuts. Everything was absolutely delicious! That kung pao tofu was one of the yummiest things I've ever had. So flavorful. And staff was very nice.

The GOAT! The ONLY place I'll go to for Chinese/Thai since their arrival in Craley. Very generous portions and the quality of their food is untouchable! The owners/staff are incredible. Each and every one of them! They absolutely remember their regulars, what they like.. and how they like it. It wasn't until after experiencing River House that I realized just how low quality my previous "favorites" were. I'm 100% convinced that the lower ratings are from people who are reviewing the wrong restaurant or are just people that can't be made happy no matter how good something is because none of those reviews come close to resembling the experience that I have with them EVERY TIME I'm there. It's never not good! Never once have I had a bad order, wrong order or something that wasn't pure quality. Keep doing what you're doing River House! We love you! - Joey 😁

Food is excellent every single time! I have tried everything from Chicken & Broccoli to Singapore Noodles here and every item hits just a little different. Add in the facts that you can get snow cones/Ice cream here in the summer and you have the perfect place. Highly recommend!

UPDATE: Still consistently excellent, and who would guess in Craley. River folks love the place. Food and service were wonderful. The orange beef was our favorite very well done and the Szechuan green beans also were a hit. The restaurant is BYOB and they are happy to provide anything you need.

Best little shoot around. Great Chinese food, fried chicken, ice cream and shaved ice. Staff is always friendly and fast service. Once a week so for me at least. Highly recommend.

Hands down the best Chinese food in the Lancaster/York area. I wish it were a bit more conveniently located but it's worth the trip to either eat in or take out. They are also very accommodating for diets, like/dislikes, etc. Reasonably priced and good portions. I would eat here once a week at least if it were closer.

Little hole in the wall place, but the food is great, the service is good and the owner/workers are very friendly and fun. And there's ice cream for after! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Easily one of the best Chinese options in York County. Their Boneless Spare Ribs are amongst the best I've ever had along with their Pan Fried Dumplings.

Went back for Chinese which had been pretty good a couple of years ago. (Our last visit, we tried the fried chicken--long wait and it was undercooked.) Chinese last night was dreadful. Doughy gross egg rolls, EXCESSIVELY hot General Tso's chicken as well as Szechuan shrimp (we love spicy food--this was just about inedible). Also loaded with undercooked green peppers. Hot and sour soup was a disgusting sludge. "Best" thing was mediocre veggie lo mein. No cars at this place should've tipped us off. $42 spent on total garbage... Will NEVER come back.

We found this hidden gem a few years ago and have been a reoccurring customer ever since. Do yourself a favor and try their beef teriyaki!

Great place with really good food. Not where you expect it but that is its charm. Take out is really busy which proofed out as the food was good to great and the fried chicken corn meal breaded and fried but surprisingly was very good.

How can this place only have a 4.7 in reviews. The River house is a hidden gem in York. The food is great. I have not been disappointed yet. Knock on wood.

Had our first take-out meal from River House tonight. My Hunan Chicken was very flavorful and just a tad spicy, as it should be. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the chicken was amazingly tender. My husband had Chicken Lo Mein, and it too was delicious. Reasonable prices for an awesome meal. We recently moved into the area and will definitely be regulars!

Excellent food and service. Thank God they opened inside again. We eat here often , but I would go every day! Been going since they opened , love everything I have gotten so far.

Stumbled upon this place while out on a ride to the river on my motorcycle. Stopped in and had the chicken pad Thai. It was very good. Friendly staff and the food was great.

Ive always ordered their shaved ice, they are sooo good. Ive had their hot food,but it was always outside,this time we ate inside, they just opened it up again. The service was great and the food was good. They have chinese and tai food. I definitely recommend

Such a small place in a very small town. If you blink you'd pass right by and not know it's there but the owners are so kind and the food is delicious. Great place to grab some food. Try the Royal pad Thai. You can get spicy or not spicy. I usually tell them a little spicy because it does got a bite but it is absolutely delicious. No other Chinese food place I been too makes a dish that's like this. Unbelievably delicious. It's a must try and my new go to when I order from River House. Check it out if you're in the area!!

Excellent food! I've liked everything I have tried. Royal Pad Thai, Dumplings and Hot and Sour Soup are my favorites.

We have driven by here dozens of times on our evening drives through the countryside. I’ve always wanted to have the fried chicken. The fried chicken was delicious and tender, but just a touch salty. The skin was crispy to perfection and the meat was luscious. My wife got the Chinese food and thought it was very good. It’s a little tough ordering in the rain as their dining room is not open due to Covid. So I would call ahead and pick up from the outside window.

This is consistently the best spot for amazing fried chicken. Crispy, Juicy, Flavorful, Perfectly Cooked, and always Freshly Prepared To Order. It’s flavorful all throughout, not just in the breading. An 8 piece order is 10 pieces because they cut the breasts in halves, which makes for every piece being perfectly and evenly cooked. The breast meat is so much juicier this way. Plus, you get to enjoy more of that delicious breading. It’s so wonderful, considering that there is so much terrible chicken everywhere else. Their fried rice is also consistently amazing as well. The service is always very friendly. And I love that they’re a family business. I love stopping by whenever I’m in the area.

Food is delicious and always seems well prepared. They have a variety of choices for even the pickiest of eaters. Their dumplings are amazing. I love the Pad Thai and their sesame chicken is another fave. Their fried chicken is surprisingly good too! Really can't go wrong. Only downside is they are takeout only. I hope they open indoor dining again soon!

Great selections for a family. We love the fried chicken. The dumplings (dim sum doughy kind) are excellent. Everything is always good, fresh and hot. They also sell ice cream, shaved ice and other frozen dessert options. Although they seem busy, the food is always ready on time.

Stopped just to get a shake but ended up ordering some food for supper, the shake was really good and hit the spot, then took the food home and had some it for supper, everything was really good especially the shrimp lo mein, yum 😋

Haven't found better Chinese food anywhere in York County. Even when it's reheated, it still tastes better. The fried rice doesn't get all dried out like most others when you reheat it. Everything is good and they are fast. Only downside is that there's no delivery but I don't care. It's worth going to get. Portion sizes are bigger too.

Love this place! It’s in walking distance from where I live, which is both wonderful and dangerous, because I want to buy their food every week. The prices are great, and the quality of food amazing! Working on trying everything on the menu, and it has all been so good. Their donuts and fried chicken are also incredibly good.
